"Très bon accueil quartier calme"Avis d'un client Hotels.com envoyé le 6 mai 2012
Un très bon séjour. Nous avons très bien reçu par notre hôte. Le studio est équipé d'un micro onde et frigo, idéal pour préparer et garder au frais les sandwich pour les visites aux environs. Bed and breakfast à 2 km de la gare accessible par les bus 256 et 15. Arrêt Koiipark. A very nice place to stay. Far from 2 km from central station. Need to take bus 15 or 256 Koiipark stop if you don't want to walk.

"Historical hotel"
Nice central located hotel with historical feeling. Expensive breakfast that didn´t live up to an american buffe standard.
"Nice place to stay"
Helpful staff, friendly, convenient location
"Well situated and classy place"
Have stayed in many Amsterdam hotels but this is one of the best if you can get a decent deal on price. Most things walkable in Amsterdam and near Leidesplien with lively nightlife.
"Excellent location"
An extremely comfortable hotel with spacious well-equipped rooms. American bar very lively and with attentive, friendly staff. Central location with easy access to shops, restaurants and museums. Would definitely stay here again.
"The Amsterdam American Hotel"
The Amsterdam American Hotel is a very comfortable and classy hotel with a great staff in one of the most happening areas in Amsterdam.
"Amsterdam American Hotel - Hampshire Eden"
We stayed for a long weekend in a Classic room. It felt a little bit smaller than on the pictures at hotels.com, but was otherwise OK. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the location is good for both the Museum area and walks to the city center. If you are into biking, there is a MacBike just off Leidseplein, on Weteringschans (a bike tour along […] the Amstel is nice!). The Leidseplein is a lively area, but we were not disturbed by any noise in the room. The Café Americain (were breakfast is served) is a beautiful jugend dining room. Lisez la suite

"Amsterdam American Hotel - Hampshire Eden"
Convenient location for visiting all parts of city, tram stops very near, lots of things within easy walking distance, particularly major museums, boat trips, flower market & city centre. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful, room size good and clean. Potential for noise from square, trams & traffic - but double glazing good. Breakfast quite expensive […] (cheaper if ordered night before) but good choice hot meals freshly cooked and worthwhile just for setting & decoration of restaurant. Bus for airport stops right outside the hotel about 40 min easy journey. Lisez la suite

"favorite hotel in Amsterdam"
We were pleased to go to our room and find that it opened up to an open air very private balcony overlooking the canal!
"Amsterdam American ---- Good Location"
Excellent hotel. Check In personnel helpful and polite. Concierge very informative regarding trips, directions and transport. Bar staff and the lounge very good for an end of evening drink. Location of hotel just right. More up market area than the touristy Dam Square but close to all the museums and parks and within walking distance of all the attractions. Room […] was large enough with all the necessary requirements. Although we had an inside room with no view as such, this made no difference to our stay as we only spent sleeping hours there, the rest of the day there is so much to do around the city. "Excellent!"
Staff was mindful, proactive and superb! They remembered our preferences and party size/characteristics with only very little interaction and were extremely professional at all times. This is my new favorite hotel in Amsterdam! Thanks for everything!
"Heart of it!"
Had a long weekend stay ay the American and it was perfect! The hotel is grand! Staff wonderful, room was very clean and comfortable. Bathroom a bit tight but there was a full shower. Loved the location and our view over the canal was lovely.
"location location locatio"
This hotel is very close to Amsterdam's famous museums and The Heinken Experience. It is truly a jewel.
"American comforts; great hotel in awesome location"
Being from the US, this hotel was the obvious pick just based on its name alone, but it turned out to be a great hotel in the Leidseplein square. This is a happening area. There are a ton of tourists that gather here. Restaurants are plenty, along with Bulldog coffee shop right in the square, and the tram stops right in the heart of it all and allows […] easy travel routes into the city center, or East-West travel as well. About the hotel itself - great views of the Canal with windows the fully open to let in fresh air and take in the city sights and sounds. I can imagine the view on the opposite side towards the square is just as nice. The walls and windows do a good job of keeping the sound level down, but it is a busy city so you know what to expect. The bathroom has a nice shower, though the water pressure could have been a bit higher. The electrical outlet in the bathroom didn't work, which was kind of inconvenient for a number of reasons, and though we reported it to three different hotel employees, it never was fixed. Small inconvenience only. The bed was extremely comfortable and the TV offered CNN which is all I need when abroad. There is a couch in the room which we positioned in front of the double-windows and sat there while doing my work emails in the morning, looking out over the canal before heading out for the day. If you're looking for easy access to the Melkweg, it is about a 2 minutes walk - you could crawl back after a concert. Overall, nothing bad to say about the hotel itself. It has plenty of elevators, and a nice bar and cafe to get the buffet breakfast and any other meals. I would stay here again. Lisez la suite

"Don't go for the 'classic room'"
I used to love this hotel, but my last visit (first one in years) was a disappointment. I booked a 'classic room' via Hotels.com, and it turned out that with 'classic' they mean 'old, non-refurbished and shabby'. Shame, I used to live this place.
"Me, the Mrs and Amsterdam American Hotel"
Our stay here was good. We were able to leave our bags at the hotel before check-in and even after we'd checked out so we could explore Amsterdam at our leisure. The staff were very helpful and most spoke English. Check-in was swift but I would advise anyone staying to take a credit card. I was charged by my bank for the swiping of my debit card for […] the pre-authorisation of the security deposit. Our room was nice but if you took away the mini-bar it would have just resembled something of the standard mid range hotels in England like premier-inn. I guess the rest of the lavish hotel style would have made up for this but we weren't the staying in a hotel all weekend types so just used the room for sleeping. The bed was massive and although it was two beds pushed together it didn't slide apart so this was good. We only found 1 spare pillow in the wardrobe so had to ask for another and the duvets were only singles so you either sleep on your own side or spend the night fighting your Mrs so as not to be left in the overlay gap. Our view was quite poor, I accept that Amsterdam is a well built up area but there was only 2 meters between our window and someone's private home. This coupled with the fact that each building was above 5 floors meant the sun was totally blocked out and the room was a little dark. The bathroom was nice although the loo roll was much to be desired for the price of the stay. Cheap rough paper was not a nice feel after a 10 mile trek exploring. The bath was large and it was filled in no time and the toiletries provided were pleasant. The towels were a good size and soft but the shower was a bit disappointing. It seemed to have some sort of pressure limiting device and although the bath was filled really quickly and the water came from the same tap the shower didn't spray far enough away so we were stood with out knees banging on the taps. An iron was already in our room so we didn't have to fetch one and the TV had BBC news and an English guid Lisez la suite

"Amsterdam American hotel"
Convenient for thehop on hop off canal boats, bus tours and the main part of the city. Breakfasts were expensive but a range of eating options was close by.
"Clean, small, but perfect!"
I have stayed in this neighborhood before at another hotel, but this hotel was way less expensive, and great. Absolutely recommend this hotel. Only drawback is that the room is small, but hey, we're in Europe right?
"Good location and view"
But the hotel is dated inside. But a European experience for sure. The highlight for us was the connecting restaurant/bar that was lovely! we enjoyed a great meal and delightful people watching.

"Great location,small rooms"
Stayed there for a weekend. The hotel is on leidsplien circle just in the heart of of the centrum. The rooms are small but functional with a clean facilities. Rooms who are facing the street are quit noisy at night time.
"The American Hotel - Perfect Location!"
I have visited Amsterdam many times and have stayed in many hotels around the city. I have to say that this hotel is by far one of the best hotels i have stayed at. The hotel bar has an extensive cocktail list and the best dutch larger you can get. The resteraunt has a fantastic choice of food and i can highly recommend the Oysters! The staff are extremely […] polite and helpful and situated me and my freinds in suites next to each other without any hesitation. Room service although these days is pricey the food couldnt be faulted and was prompty delivered. The beds were very large and comfortable and we had an amazing small balcony overlooking the canal and this was in a classic american room. Some previous reviews say these type of rooms are small but i found the room was far from small! The area of the hotel is the best for bars/clubs and is around a 15 minute walk to dam square and 2 mins to the more upmarket shopping areas of Amsterdam. Boat Cruises are on your doorstep and bycycle hire. Will definatly stay here again!! Lisez la suite

"Nice hotel - great location"
Friendly, helpful, accommodating service. We arrived at 8 am and were able to get a room right away. They also had great suggestions for dinner. Great location in town on the canals with easy walk to most sites in Amsterdam and very close to the museums. Small minuses: thin walls - I could hear my neighbor snoring and our room did not have a great view. […] Would definitely recommend this hotel. Lisez la suite
"Amsterdam American Hotel"
This hotel was rated four star and we prepaid nearly two-hundred and fifty dollars per night through a discount online service, so we were expecting a higher quality hotel product (even though we know that European standards are generally lower than American). The exterior of the building and its location are very impressive and with a thurough renovation […] this could become one of the outstanding hotel desinations in Amsterdam. The interior was dated and the carpeting, appointments and bathroom were acceptable but not consistent with a four star designation. Our room was cold and drafty at night and the floor creaked when you walked on it. The breakfast for an additional 15 Euros per day was quite good and the American Cafe had a lot of art deco features that made it an interesting place to visually enjoy during breakfast. I would not recomend this hotel to those who require luxurious accomodations and I would not recomend this hotel to others at the price we paid, unless there was nothing comparable to be had for less in a similar location. "Great location"
The location is great so it's easy to walk to key attractions and there are lots of shops and beautiful streets right on your doorstep. Convenient as so easy to reach by tram (just a few stops from central station). Room was quite big but nothing very exciting or interesting (very plain furniture/curtains). They have computers and a printer that are […] free to use. The hotel's major asset really is its location. It's also a very nice building. Lisez la suite
"Great hotel and conveniently located!!!"
The hotel was way nicer than I had expected and it was located near just about everything we wanted to see! Great choice for those wanting to tour around in comfort. I recommend this hotel to everyone traveling to Amsterdam!
"Eden Amsterdam hotel"
I loved my wake up calls from a very cheery front desk! Thank you!
"Eden Amsterdam American Hotel - great location"
We enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam. The location of the hotel was great. Hovever we do think it could be better insoluation between the hotel rooms.
"Nice hotel, great location"
This was my secontd trip to Amsterdam. I was there with my mother, it was also her second trip. We were both really pleased with our room, larger than the average sized rooms in other hotels, really clean, very helpful staff on the reception. Location is excellent, very close to the muesems, and a 10 minute walk into Dam Square. When I go back to Amsterdam […] I will be staying at this hotel. Restaurant has nice surroundings but the food is over rated and over priced. Again excellent service in the restaurant, but the quality of the food for the price paid was very disappointing. "Eden American Hotel, close but not too close"
The situation of the hotel was perfect. It was close enough to all that Amsterdam has to offer but not too close to feel like you were a member of a stag or hen party! The only draw back was our room. I had expected to be small which was not a problem. What was upsetting was the condition of the room. The carpet was very worn with holes in places and […] one wall was badly marked. Our towels on the second day were worn through and had holes in them. Not 4 star standard. Lisez la suite

"Outstanding"
This hotel deserves nothing but superlatives in all areas of it's performance. Helpful and friendly staff at all times. It is always extremely clean. It's location is ideal and central to everything in Amsterdam. Leidsplein is a hub of activity in this great city with a huge assortment of restaurants catering to any taste (Greek, Italian, English, Indian, […] Thai, Argentinian Beef, plus...). The room size is larger than most Euro hotels and again, very, very clean. While priced higher than other rooms in the area I found it to be well worth the price. Easily accessible from Centraal Station by trams # 1 or #5. It drops you off virtually across the street from the hotel. Lisez la suite
