Très agréable : service voiturier diligent et sympathique , bar et restaurant très agréables , à égale distance des points intéressants de Bilbao : on peut tout faire ; ou presque , à pied , depuis cet hôtel .Nous y retournerons avec plaisir .

dommage car le personnel est agrèable et la situation est idéale mais cet hôtel ne vaut pas les 5 étoiles annoncées : chambre minuscule ,déco douteuse voire hôtel de passe , j' avais l'impression que mon voisin de chambre dormait dans mon lit tant ses bruits intimes m'étaient audibles... pas de sortie de bain , pas de pantoufles , douche sans pression […] , propreté minimale couple à la recherche d'un séjour romantique dans un 5 étoiles ,,,s'abstenir Lisez la suite

L'hôtel est très bien situé à mi chemin entre le Casco Viejo et le Guggenheim. Quartier silencieux. Les chambres sont confortables et propres. Personnel agréable parlant français. Très bon rapport qualité-prix. Le seul point négatif est que les fenêtres ne donnent pas sur le plus bel immeuble de Bilbao.

Globalement, c'est plutôt un 4* qu'un 5* (parties communes petites et mal meublées, taille des chambres). Ceci étant dit, c'est un hôtel très acceptable, plutôt bien placé bien qu'il n'y ait aucune vue. Il ne faut pas y aller avec une grande voiture (garage exigu et difficulté à se garer alentour). L'hôtel est très bien situé, dans l'Ensanche, près des commerces et bars à tapas, et à quelques minutes à pied du Guggenheim et du musée des Beaux Arts. L'hôtel est un hôtel de standing un peu daté, mais très confortable. Le personnel est très aimable et serviable. Très bon rapport qualité/prix.

hotel très bien placé, plein centre et silencieux. 5 étoiles un peu surfait : la clim ne fonctionnait pas ds la chambre et il nous a été impossible de prendre le petit déjeuner avant 7 heures. Accueil agréable. Literie très bonne et confort ds la chambre très correct

Read the reviews and understand that this is not a five star hotel. The service is trying to be good - but failed because of the bad attitude of the staff. The room we stayed in smelled weird and in general the impression of the hotel was bad. On top of this it would cost 15 EURO for internet per day!! So be aware of this. This is a lovely centrally located hotel with an amazing staff. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and answer all our questions. The hotel restaurant is very good and I would definitely recommend it if you don't want to go to one of the many area restaurants for tapas. Bilbao is a small city suitable for covering most things on foot. The hotel is minutes away from the train station, the old town, the main shopping street, the Guggerheim Museum, and most of the architectural sights. The room is small by 5-star standards, but the service from the friendly staff is up to par.

Hotel seemed a great deal but 20m from hotel window extensive renovation from 7.45am to 5pm , so no sleeping in after late night ! Avoid for 2011 ! Otherwise a nice hotel

This is a very comfortable hotel. The breakfast buffet is really lovely. Only complaint is that WiFi access is rather expensive.

the hotel room looked nothing like any of the pictures shown online. small room, old and chipped furniture, terrible curtains, it looked like an old fashioned 3 star hotel.

I was not very impressed with this hotel. After spending 10 days doing the camino de santagio, My friend and I thought it would be nice to spend a noght in a 5* hotel. Our room in the hotel ercilla Lopez de Haro was small, dirty with mildew on the walls, the wall paper was dirty and the carpets was well worn. the bathroom also was dirty and I found […] hairs in the sink. after complaining,I was told they were fully booked and didn't have another room with twin beds. eventually after some time we were changed to another room ,which was brighter but not of 5* quality.The staff were satisfactory but I found the whole athmosphere in the hotel quite dead. This was truly a 5 Star Hotel from the Wonderful staff to the well appointed Hotel and Rooms. It was a true delight to stay at this amazing Hotel. The value of what you payed and what your experience was, was a true find. The staff was also very helpful with my special dietary needs. I have Celiac disease and the in house chef made me some of the best […] gluten free bread I have ever eaten. The only problem was that we did not stay long enough. There is a lot more to see in Bilbao than I had thought. It is a short walk to the museums and tapas. We will stay here again for sure! You will not be disappointed if you stay there. Lisez la suite

Fantastic location within walking distance to all major interest points. Some staff more friendly and helpful than others. Overall the hotel seems a little past its prime and we were not expecting to have to go and seek out someone to come and serve us coffee in the lounge at 4 pm! We had a lovely dinner despite being the only patrons in the restaurant […] the night we ate there. You will be comfortable here and you will love the location, but do not expect the usual level of 5-star amenties. Booked a double room; arrived and the room seemed shabby and old compared to the pics on the website. Learned from the front desk clerk that only the single bed rooms (queen sized beds) were renovated. Asked to see a single room, quite nice and modern. Since I was traveling with a friend I could not share a bed with, I requested to have two single rooms, […] and was expected to be charged extra... the manager, however, was extremely gracious and gave us two separate rooms at no extra cost! This hotel is great. Small boutique hotel feel but with large hotel style service. Staff are incredibly helpful, location is perfect and its very reasonably priced for what it is. Within walking distance of the Guggenheim and other main sites. Highly recommended

This is a hotel that is both used by private and business travelers. It is next to everything, since BILBAO is in a valley and the river curves around the city center. I had never been in Bilbao before, but it was very easy to walk to most touristic sites and corporate areas and find my way back using common sense landmarks. If you are renting a car […] and driving into town there is a toll-road, and I recommend to have a couple of 1 & 2 Euro coins handy. If you rent a car rent something like a Ford Focus or BMW-1; the parking spaces are small, the streets are mostly narrow. Driving is NOT fast, concentrate on what is in front of you and do not worry about whats going on behind you. If you do not have one, buy a GPS locally with full European map coverage, that makes life very easy, since many have a pedestrian mode. English is NOT spoken everywhere, and often not in family restaurants. HOWEVER the personnel in the hotel is well versed in English, helpful and very friendly. Lisez la suite

This hotel exceeded expectations. Not only was it well kept and comfortable, but people at the front desk were unusually helpful, giving a lot of information about the area, directions to places of interest, etc. It was my best hotel experience in Spain!

As this was my first time to Bilbao, I took a taxi from the Abando train station to the hotel. The hotel is on a side street off one of the larger streets so I would recommend this to the ten minute walk from the station until you get your bearings. The plus side is that the street is quiet. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accommodating […] though it appeared that only desk clerk and the restaurant staff spoke English. The checkin was quick and efficient with my booking through hotels.com entered in their system. A porter brought my bag to the room and showed me how the lights worked. The room was excellent, the bed comfortable and the bathroom immaculate and completely tiled throughout. There were bathrobes to use and plenty of toiletries. The only thing I couldn't figure out was how to adjust the temperature of the room, but there is a window that can be opened and it was quite pleasant for sleeping as the room faced onto a courtyard in the back of the building. The location of the hotel is excellent. You turn right from the hotel lobbey and when you get to the end of the little side street, another right turn has you facing the beautiful Calatrava footbridge. This makes for a very easy landmark when making your way back to the hotel. The whole city seems to walk the boardwalk on either side of the river. One way leads to the Guggenheim and the other leads to the old part of town. I chose to have the buffet breakfast at the hotel for convenience. It is a bit expensive as most hotels are, but very good and worth it. They had typical spanish fare such as ham and 'tortilla con patata', smoked salmon, breads, cereal, juice and coffee. A nice touch is the availability of newspapers to glance at while having your breakfast. The diningroom is a very nice space with two large stained glass panels in a nautical theme. All in all a very enjoyable stay that made my visit to Bilbao that much better. Lisez la suite

Great hotel. We stayed here as we were going to a festival but wanted to see some of Bilbao and the surrounding countryside in the day time. Good central location, two blocks from the Guggenheim. It's about a 20Euro taxi ride to the airport or there is a bus from the airport for approx 2 Euro that stops about 10 minutes walk away. Friendly and helpful […] staff who speak good English (surprisingly few people who do in Bilbao) and happy to give directions, advice on how to get places. Rooms were a good size and in good condition/ comfortable beds. All for a very very reasonable price we thought. Highly recommended. Will definitely stay here again. Lisez la suite

This hotel was excellent value for money. Staff were very friendly and efficient, and servicing of the room was very well done. It is probably not a true 5 star, and lives on a past grandeur, but it is very beautiful in itself. Lots of marble and heavy drapes. Location was perfect for first time visitors, within walking distance of all tourist and shopping […] areas. Not really a 5 star, but still a good quality for the price we paid. Our only real negative comment was that some elements of the service was a bit off-handish.

The Lopex de Haro is perfectly located in downtown Balboa. It is an elegant small hotel with impecible service. It is near the Gugenheim, the river, the old city, the shopping street. You could not ask for a more perfect hotel. The only thing that we found inconventient was that you couldnt get coffee before 8am, but then it's Spain.

hotel carpets were grubby and bathroom needed renovating. Dinner was superb but restaurant lacked ambiance. Did not warrant its 5 stars.

If you don't like tower block hotels then choose Lopez de Haro. It's a small (about 50 rooms) hotel, very helpful and friendly staff, in a quiet street away from the urban noise and only 2 minutes from the river which is a charming way to walk to the old town or to the Guggenheim. It's close to the tram and only about 10mins walk to the nearest metro […] stations and main shopping areas. Got a great deal on the room which made it more affordable than a 4* in other major cities. It's not luxurious (which is what I assumed a 5* would be) but I had a very enjoyable stay indeed - we were upgraded to a larger room with large twin beds upon arrival. Only minor problem I had was the safe wasn't working, but the staff offered an alternative safe in the lobby with our own key. I would definitely stay there again over any other hotel in Bilbao (buiding works at the Domine Grand and all others in the shopping district are modern and noisy looking). Lisez la suite

Excellent central location, 5 mins walk from the Guggenheim and with lots of restaurants nearby. Everything in the city is within walking distance. The room was spotless and very comfortable, not 5 star though. Be careful not to confuse this hotel with its sister Hotel Ercilla a 10 min drive across the city away. This one doesn't really use the name […] Ercilla but goes under the Lopez de Haro name... we almost checked into the wrong hotel by mistake. Good value. Lisez la suite

Bra hotell på lugn gata. Gångavstånd till både Guggenheim och de mysiga ställena i gamla stan.

Mycket trevligt hotell med riklig och god frukost. Portiererna är tillmötesgående och svarar gärna på frågor. Vi är särskilt tacksamma mot den portier som tog sig tid att berätta om Bilbao före Guggenheim och historien om vad som hände sedan. Hotellet ligger centralt i Bilbao med gångavstånd till det mesta. Mysigt hotell med bra läge och mycket bra service men knappast 5 stjärnor.

Maybe has been a 5-star hotel in the last century, but now indefinitely not. A bit worn building in and out but very nice personnel and a good location. All main attractions within walking range.
