"Pleasantly surprised"
The good: 1) The desk staff was extremely pleasant and helpful; check-in was a breeze, and the bar/restaurant staff were friendly and outgoing. 2) The room was full of newer furniture and fixtures and was SUPER clean. In fact, I've stayed in 4 and 5 star properties that were not as spotlessly clean as my room was. 3) On checking in, I got a $5 off coupon […] if I spent $15 at the on-site restaurant. 4) The food at the on-site restaurant was delish, with good portions, and was brought out quickly. Even better, the beer on tap was some of the coldest I've ever had. The bad: 1) It's and older property and it shows when walking the halls. Most if not all doors have scuffs, chips and discolorations. 2) The elevators seemed like they were in weird locations (at hallway junctions and out-of-the-way corners, etc.), like they were an afterthought of the architect or something. Not a big deal, just odd and a little disorienting. The ugly: Nothing really. Overall, this was a great stay at what is obviously a well-run property that is managed by people who know what they're doing. "Close to SUNY-Albany"
nice hotel and easy to get to. however there were some loud hotel goers that seemed like they were from the college and partying. Loud at night up until 3am.
"Great Value"
Cannot go wrong for the price. Friendly staff, clean room. We chose it for its price and proximity to where we were visiting (College of St Rose right down the street). If I had to do it all over again, I would without hesitation.This is not the Taj Mahal, but it is not a 2 star hotel either.

"hotel needs complete renovation"
I would never recommend this hotel to a friend. It was pretty run down with shower head falling out of the wall and everything in the room appearing to be 50 years old and crumbling.

"A decent hotel for a decent price."
The only problem I found that the facility is located 5 miles from downtown Albany, which was a hassle considering we were there to see a concert. The hotel offers shuttle service to transportation hubs however they would not provide service to the concert venue because "we just don't do that". Considering most of the hotel patrons were also going to […] the concert and asking if they could pay for shuttle service to and fro, it would be a nice perk if they could have made the effort to accommodate us. "Good valvue for a quick trip"
The bar and restaurant ere closed on Sunday night. The pool was a bit too warm.
Good value for an overnight stay which included breakfast the next morning. Room was clean. Bathroom needs updating, wouldn't take a bath in tin but shower was fine.

The staff was great, very friendly and quick to respond. We interacted with desk staff, maintenance, cleaning and breakfast bar staff and all were very nice, friendly and helpful. Even the hotel guests were friendly. We stayed on a Wednesday so it was pretty quiet. Hotel was nice but had some flaws (that hopefully they are working on). Beds were very […] nice. Bathroom would have been fine if it was a little bigger. Although toilet handle looked like it was about to fall off. Had to step between toilet and counter (about 5 in space) to shut the door. Our room had a door entrance to the pool except the key card wouldn't work to let us back in both times we used it. That was annoying. Free breakfast was decent (waffles, eggs, toast, bagel, ceral and a few other. the only meat I believe was ham). Pool was nice and heated. Location was central to restaurants and Shopping Centers . They also have a 'business center' with a computer to check your email. Wifi is available but we didn't have any wifi devices. Overall I would stay there again IF they could provide us with a better (Bigger) bathroom). Hotel was good, clean comfortable. Only problem I had were the idiots across the hall from me who got locked out of their room at 1 am and proceeded to have phone conversations while on speaker so we could all share their problem. No worrys, when I left at 6:30 am I made sure my door closed very loudly, probably woke up the whole floor.

"Sovereign Best Western Albany"
The hotel itself is OK. I would have liked to know about the Legionella problem before I booked. I would not have stayed there if I had known. I don't want to risk my children getting sick. We were only informed as we were checking in late after a long drive, and I felt I had no option but to stay.

"Great service. Bad condition of hotel"
The staff was wonderful but the condition of the pool area needs fixing. The roof looked like it was rotten and the saunas didn't work. The food in the restaurant was good but a little pricy(that's normal though)

First morning we were there you could not take a shower because the water was scalding. Second morning could not take a shower because the water was ice cold. Restaurant was good and waiter was very nice. Hope the plumbing has been fixed.
"Good and Bad"
The hotel staff were fabulous! The hotel, however, is quite outdated and in desperate need of a re-model! One day we only had scalding hot water so couldn't take a shower and the next day we only had cold water so couldn't take a shower! Elevator alarms going off, doors that wouldn't open, lots of problems but again, the staff were great!
Was a little disappointed when I saw fruit flys flying around me when i finally relaxed for evening. Clarity of time for breakfast was confusing. Whats stated (at frontdesk) and printed (in-room handbook) are confusing.

"Great location for shopping, great staff!"
We booked this hotel as it had the best deal on price for a hotel that included an indoor pool. We had an excellent stay. The hotel staff was EXTREMELY friendly, nice and helpful. I was impressed with everyone we encountered, especially the front desk staff. The pool area was undergoing some maintenance but was still a lovely swim. We had 2 double […] beds in a nonsmoking room. There was a slight scent of smoke in the room likely from the ventilation system, so people with severe allergies may have a problem). The bathroom was a bit older, and probably could use a reno or refresh soon but it wasn't a big deal. The beds were comfortable, the room was lovely, the lounge area was very pretty. We went to Albany (From Ottawa) to shop, and the location was great. It was less than a 10 minute drive to everywhere we wanted to go (2 malls, Target, Walmart, the restaurant we had a deal at), ample free parking was also great. "You have to ask"
When we arrived we were assigned to a non-smoking room although we had requested smoking. Was moved but only after a firm request. Did not receive clean towels or coffee on second day, again it was addressed upon request. Window in room was not as clean as it could have been. The room was great. The bathroom tub was in dire need of cleaning or replacing. It was half dirty and it looked like holes had been eaten in the plastic.

I travel a lot for business and the Best Western is usually a good place to stay. The Albany Best Western was a real disappointment. They had no cold water so you had to take a scalding hot shower, and there soulution was to offer me a free drink coupon.(I don't drink). I guess that was to make that scalding water more bearable. "Albany in the fall"
great place to stay while enjoying the fall colors of upstate NY. Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms and convenient to the scenic back roads and the downtown area.
we made the reservation at another Best Western. We wanted the one on Wolf Rd. They helped us change and were wonderful with our two great grandchilden who were over the top. Room-Great. Pool-Great. Everyone who worked there-Great!

"Best Western Albany"
The hotel is extremely dated and needs to be updated. We stayed in a King-Size Bed room. It was so tiny that we felt closed in. Next time we will get a two bed room which is much larger.

The hotel was conviently located; good parking; clerk at reception desk friendly and welcoming. We had a great kng sized bed, very comfortable; and it was quiet. I would recommend highly this hotel, and would defintely stay here again the next time our travels take us to Albany.

Hey it's a Best Western, don't go in expecting the Waldorf. However they did save us as they were the only hotel in our price range that still had vacancy when we were trying to get back home from Montreal and were stranded in Albany after Hurricane Irene flooded all the highways. Yes it smelled a little musty but hey our room was clean, spacious, and […] we had free wifi and HBO. What more could you ask for? Also the girl at the front desk was really sweet and kept her cool when the flood of people came in looking for shelter from Irene. We booked a stay here because Hurricane Irene was heading toward the cabin we were staying in. Even though the hotel was out of power when we got there (like many other places in the area), they tried to accommodate the guests as well as they could. Either way we enjoyed the indoor pool for hours and hours during the storm and had nice meals in the […] on-site restaurant. It was overall a very nice stay during a crazy storm for my family. I Stay at this hotel because of SUNY ALBANY. Where my daughter attends school and its sometime affordable. However after this last stay I'm Seriously looking for another hotel to stay at for parents weekend and graduation weekend. It is sooooo run down. and the once decent breakfest is't worth getting up for. If I can't find any place else to stay. […] I will stay here for my last two times. this hotel was a big disappointment. had a old smell. TV was small and out dated. The pool area - paint was falling and chipped - (needs to be updated and repainted) - ask 2 nights for the light to be turned on so we did not have to swim in the dark. I was very concerned when I found the glass window in the sauna broken. It appeared that it had been damaged for sometime and a towel was thrown over the broken glass. I informed the front desk twice about it that nothing had been done to fix it by the second time I mentioned it to the front desk-a good 12 hour time difference. I had stayed in this Best Western several times over 5years ago. I was agast how unclean and unkept it was for such a big chain.....
