Hotel rooms could use new carpets or a shampooing but the beds were very comfortable. We changed our room before checkin to building #1 because of the bad reviews of building #3, where they had us. Food was good in Garden restaurant and bar was nice could have used a better bartender.

Our 4 year old loved the train car rooms. The gardens were beautiful and we especially loved taking a walk after dinner. The Public House Restuarant is an easy walk from the hotel and has the best roast beef in the world. We also like the fact that there are 3 pools to choose from. Unless you are a complete train nut and/or enjoy staying in a dilapidated hotel, please do not stay at the Choo Choo. It is clear that the owners are trying to cut their losses--Rust, degradation, and degeneration is everywhere you look. Broken door closing mechanisms, door frames/doors that are deformed so badly such that you can see 1/2" of light […] from the hallway in your room. On my my first trip up the elevator for building 5 to go to the exercise room, the elevator tried to ascend with the doors still open--a loud thunk and jolt, then a burning smell. (I decided to use the stairs.) To get into the second floor of my building from the outside, you have to open the door and risk knocking yourself down the stairs you just climbed--because there is no landing. On the positive side, the hotel has a few dining options and several gift shops on site. This combined with the free shuttle being next door was great. The outside grounds of the hotel and the train were in great condition as well. There were several negatives to go along with this however. The walls of the rooms were very thin, we could hear everything […] from the hallway, other rooms, outside and even from the pool area. It was a nice stay, the vent in the bathroom is noisy and it can't be turned off, overall it was a cozy place to stay.

loved the train car, unique experience. Yeh, maybe a little musty but no more than I expected from such an old train car & easily fixed when we left doore open for a little while. Gardens are beautiful & all pools & hotel stores within easy walk. Carta station right at hotel makes it VERY convenient to travel downtown; no worry about finding parking […] spot or the expense. I loved the heated pool. It made swimming with the kids much more enjoyable. We also enjoyed looking at all the trains. The price of food, etc was WAY too expensive though. Was not expecting to spend that much money while there.

We were a little disappointed that we didn't have the convenience of a fridge & microwave in our room:( However, the charm, character and history that is packed into this amazing landmark more then made up for this minor inconvenience:) There are so many shops, gardens, trains of all style & size, choices of dining and entertainment possibilities that […] you don't even need to leave the hotel to experience this wonderful area. However, should you have the opportunity, the area immediately outside the hotel is filled with fabulous sites, shopping and even richer in history & culture. The free electric bus system to explore down town very helpful. Rock City/Look Out Mountain is very close by and truly should be at the top of everyone's "must experience" list for this area. The battle fields, monuments and other historical landmarks are truly a gift to be appreciated. The down town area is very clean, full of great dining experiences & everyone is extremely friendly & helpful. Thank you for a wonderful family vacation filled with many priceless memory making opportunities! Our short two night stay on our way back home from Florida didn't allow us enough time to experience everything this wonderful area has to offer. Somehow with a resort, I picture green grass and outdoor stuff. This place is an old train station in the middle of an industrial looking area of town. It looks run down, and isn't modern in any way at all. That being said, it has all of the things it advertises, and the choo-choo is there. A restaurant and nice indoor pool. (If you happen to be staying […] in the right building, you don't have to walk to it). BUT IF YOU WANT A SPA TUB-DON'T GO NEAR THIS ONE. It was disgusting. COLD (unsanitary) and dirty. We tried to endure it for 5 minutes or so, then ran to our room for showers. If I'm in the area again, I would shoose a chain hotel and then just visit here for the choo-choo. Lisez la suite

We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The children enjoyed the horse & carriage ride, the pool and especially the buffet.

I love the experience of staying at this hotel. The central buildings and grounds are very interesting. I love the formal garden. The room was fine, nothing special. The water pressure was high and the shower temperature easy to adjust. The mattress was a little out of shape but manageable. I was given the wrong room key by the desk clerk. A replacement arrived shortly thereafter by security. Room door was not hung properly and dragged when opened. TV Remote control did not operate other than on/off. Bed comfortable, shower ok,towels a bit on the thin side. All in all, ok, nothing more. Over priced for quality received..

We would have liked it better if the Hot Tub was HOT, the room needed a mini fridge, if the WiFi had been working the last 24 hrs of our stay....all that said we enjoyed our visit and will be back...grounds were beautiful. So much contained in one location.

We stayed at the Chattanooga Choo Choo the week of Easter 2012 and had a great time. The complex is rather large and does require some walking. Many of the schools were on Spring Break, so there were lots of kids in the pools and they could get a little bit loud at times. That being said, the atmosphere of the train yards, the resturants and shops was […] really wonderful. The place has that old time feel that I love so much. The Station House resturant is way fun, with singing servers and they are so nice. Lots to do and see in Chattanooga, so have a good time. Lisez la suite

we enjoyed it very much! My husband and son love trains so it was a dream for them! The hotel was very nice...needs some maintenance but overall we enjoyed it very much. The staff was great and very accommodating.

This hotel was very conviently located to major attractions. It was very easy to locate even in the middle of the night. Enjoyable stay and shopping. We will definately be staying at this location again.

Growing up in Tennessee, I remember the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel was about the only thing worth seeing in Chattanooga. My how things have changed. My wife and I took our young children for an overnight to the City to see the aquarium and take a train ride. Of course, we thought it best to stay at the famous Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel. As we pulled […] in, the large fluorescent sign read; "Chattanooga Choo Cho". That would be our first indication that the hotel has been left at the station. Everything about the facility, from the rooms to the staff, just looked tired. Our room was not in the actual old train station, but in a 70's era structure in the back. In fact, I don't think there are any rooms in the old station. Our hotel room and building was in desperate need of renovation. The carpet was old and worn out. The bathroom was dated and well beyond its useful life. As we were leaving, the handles to both the sliding glass and hallway doors came off in my hand just minutes apart! When I checked out and showed this to the desk clerk, she did not demonstrate any surprise or offered an apology. The indoor swimming pool was right outside our room. Quiet hours were not until 11pm. We were briefly locked out of our room the following morning and had to take the kids to the pool bathroom. I've seen cleaner truck stop bathrooms. This was mid morning too, so they had all night to clean the bathroom. The grounds around the hotel were equally in disrepair. Train car rooms had letters missing. Every window I saw was covered in film. Rust abound from the train cars to the inside of the restaurant areas. The only remaining impressive feature of the hotel was the toy train exhibit (which cost a few dollars no less) which was very well done. The City of Chattanooga has really turned a corner. The downtown area is vibrant, clean, and fun. There are lots of eclectic shops, good restaurants, and things to do. It is a shame that such a fixture of the community as the Choo Choo Lisez la suite

It used to be great hotel in the past, but my stay was very disappointing this time. They just haven't kept up with the maintenance.

My family enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Convient to transportation and areas of interest. Will stay at this hotel again.

We were put at what they call 'hotel #3' which is waaaayyy in the back of the large property. The exterior is extremely run down. Looks like it hasn't been touched since the 1980s. Room itself was nice. But then the noise started--the courtyard which all the rooms open onto has a hot tub and there were rowdy teenagers in there. Took 40 minutes and two […] calls for the hotel to send someone (security) to get it to stop. Yes, the parents or chaperones should have done so, but basically any talking in the courtyard was loud. Not worth the price--I'll pay extra next time and stay at a brand name hotel. Lisez la suite

I stayed in building three. It was not a convenient walk, but the the hotel was very good about sending a golf cart around in a timely manner. Everyone was so nice. The shuttle service was prompt in getting me to the convention center. The room was clean. I enjoyed my stay.

We went to a concert at Track 29, which is why we stayed at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. The hotel smelled like pool water and mildew. It is definitely time for an upgrade. For the money, I prefer to stay at the Read House down the street.

I checked in with my wife and baby, 10$/ night for a crib for those of you with children. The walls are paper thin, so the bed post banging on the wall next door seemed to be a bit disturbing... The bath tube had hair all over inside and behind the bathroom door was a used towel. Just grotesque! The door know was coming off of the entrance to the pool […] (all rusted out) this was a ridiculous stay. Never would I recommend this even to my worst of enemies. So happy to hear that others may have enjoyed there stay, but we had to check out early and move to a nearby hotel! Do yourself a favor and go with a chain hotel nearby! Lisez la suite

ONLY THING GOOD ABOUT THIS HOTEL IS THE BEAUTIFUL LOBBY. HISTORIC SITE ADDS NOTHING! ROOMS ARE OLD; NO HOT WATER NEXT DAY. PARKING ISSUES. GLAD I WAS ONLY THERE ONE NITE.

Was a swim weekend for the grandchildren. They had lots of fun.

The heat regulation of the room was very uneven.

When you take a family of 6 on vacation, you may have to compromise quality and comfort for affordability, which is what we did. Pros were price, train theme, beautiful outdoor pool (had it been in season) and beautiful lobby in the main building and close enough to main attractions. Cons were small bathroom, hard beds, noticeable signs of age and dis-repair […] in rooms and buildings, but not so much that it felt seedy. Indoor pool was in a different building and had no changing room. My only serious complaint that was on our last day, our car battery died and I got no help from the front desk in resolving this problem. In a hotel with three buildings, 5 or so restaurants and staff riding through the parking lot in golf carts, it was quite a surprise that not one person could be spared to drive their vehicle around to give us a jump, or a even a golf cart...at the very least, a phone number of a local towing service...not great guest service. Great hotel, great staff, great stay! Go to The Terminal next door for some great food and beer too!!

30 min to check in. Called maint twice - fix door lock - fix thermostat. Rust and mold around tub. Trash in hall way 2 days. No room service till after 3:00pm.

It is an old hotel so you have to expect it to be some what run down, but it was dingy and the rooms smelled like mold. The bath tubs were literally black with dirt.... I will say the staff that worked at the hotel were incredibly nice but the rooms were moldy and stuffy. I would say visit the hotel for lunch but don't stay there overnight!
