"Visiting Grandchildren"
The hotel was chosen because of the pool. It was nice, but very crowded and parents were not watching children. Several birthday parties around the pool area. "It was convenient to the places we wanted to go."
I will not book through you again, nor will I book at the Plaza hotel again. It was very important to me to have an adjoining room in the tower part of the hotel. As the three of us wanted to be together to visit, ect. Instead I was told if I had booked through them that would have been possible. I asked to cancel one of the rooms then and get reimbursed […] and was told I could not do that. I made it clear at time of bookinig what I needed. Very disappointed. "not helpful with request"
We asked when rooms were booked to have them adjoining. Was told as long as there was no maintenance being done it would be fine. Well it didn't happen and they wouldn't change our room. Our rooms were 135 and 286 a nice hike away. Also there are older kids running everywhere, into people and through kiddy pool splashing little ones in the face. The Plaza Hotel is older and definitely showing it's age. The rooms were tiny and don't try to turn around in the bathroom. We asked for adjoining rooms and didn't get that. The pool was frigid and the common areas were filthy. The breakfast was inedible. Granted, the hotel was packed on the Saturday we stayed. What a dump! Peeling wallpaper, ill hanging curtains & lack of any vacuum cleaner throughout the hotel , convinced us to go home & not stay the second night. The 1980's TV leaves a lot to be desired also along with a remote that sort of worked In the exercise room, there were 2 broken treadmills & 1 broken elliptical. "Nice area"
The hotel has a very nice big area for water activities. However, the area of the pool was chilly. Chilly enough that you could sit in there with long pants and a sweatshirt and not be overly warm. "Not impressed"
The heater in the room did work at all. And Eau Claire, WI was having sub zero temps at the time. I was very disappointed. The hotel itself is nice with a a large central pool and heat tub. "Great potential - but somewhat disappointing."
This hotel has the potential to be great - but the lack of regular maintenance shows. The carpets were dirty, the door locks were dingy and there was mold on the door frame. The mold was probably caused by the high humidity from the pool area, but it should be cleaned on a more regular basis. The biggest complaint is about the temperature of the pools. […] The deep pool is a great size - but must not be heated, as it was freezing. There is a nice 1-ft pool for younger kids - but the small ones couldn't enjoy it because older kids were in there (I assume because it was warmer than the deep pool). The hot tub couldn't really be called "hot" - it was more like a warm bath. On the bright side, the staff was friendly and helpful. I would love to see this hotel fixed up and live up to the room price. It was also quite noisy when kids were in the pool area - I shouldn't have asked to be near the pool! "The Plaza"
This hotel is on the older side and is in need of an update. When walking in your met with a not too pleasant aroma, and the scent didn't get much better upon entering the room. The carpet had a few holes and definitely needed to be replaced. I actually cut my stay short here and found another place. It might be a great hotel once they performed some […] updating. "Good hotel for swimming with family"
We had a room that was overlooking the pool. There was a normal pool, a 1' deep kiddie pool, and a hot tub. Around the pool there were lots of tables to eat. The only problem with a room overlooking the pool is that it stayed pretty loud as long as the pool was open.Avis véridique Expedia

Terrible experience. The hotel has U. Of Wisconsin students living in it. They rent rooms to them at a weekly rate. It was crowded in pool areas. It was very noisey. Great customer service. We enjoyed the pools very much, since they were clean and not over chlorinated. We did have trouble with the doors sticking and some other maintenance issues. The room itself at the Plaza was fine, but it was located just off the lobby and pool area where there were tables used for partying and breakfast. It seemed there were about 50 people right outside my window, eating and drinking late into the night and early in the morning eating breakfast. "Dirty room with tiny queen bed"
We booked a room with queen beds, but the beds were full size. ( I even measured the beds to to be sure I wasn't confused). When I asked the front desk about this, they insisted I didn't know what I was talking about and that the computer could not be wrong about the rooms. The room was mostly clean, but the bathroom was not. The walls had holes and […] needed painting. The hallway and stairs were filthy with torn carpet. The pool was nice. I later found out from an EC resident that some of the hotel rooms were used to as overflow for the UWEC dorms. This made sense since the perimeter rooms look very dumpy. The hotel does not appear to maintain all of their spaces, only some of the tower rooms. The hotel entrances are not secured. When I made the reservation I expected a hotel room, not a rundown oversized dorm room. There were other people in our party that also had unfavorable rooms, one group had to change rooms. I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but I have seen better Hotel 6's. We have another event at this hotel this summer, but we will stay across the way at a different hotel. The hallways were hotter than they should have been. Continental breakfast was the worst I ever had in all my stays at hotels. The pancakes were hard around the edges and the ham tasted like SPAM. "Great hotel for the price"
The first room we were given was really old and small. Actually had a hard time even getting in the room. Thought it was the key, went down to the lobby and they said you have to pull hard on the handle and then it should work. Well it did, but after seeing that room I went down again and asked if we could have a different one. They were super nice […] and moved us. The 2nd room was awesome. "Bad, bad, bad is all there is to say"
This hotel was nothing but problems. The original room I was in was terrible. The room smelled like mold and mmust, the bed was rock solid, it had a box tv in it when it said they had flat screens in them. It was disgusting. Asked for my money back and they moved me to a corporate room which was decent. That room was alright until I got in the shower […] and there was this high pitched scream the entire time I was showering. Then the toilet clogged just from urinating. Room service came at 9 am while sleeping so I told them to go away for now, called them at noon to come while we were gone. Got back at 6:30 that evening and they still had not come and the toilet was not fixed. I called and told them so they sent dome dopey kid up who fixed my beds sloppy and said sorry if this is poorly done to me! REALLY!? Then they didnt fix the toilet but made me fix it myself. The swimming pool was really nice. But the hot tub was broke as well. The jets sprayed straight up rather then in. How disappointing. "Nice stay"
The pool area was very nice enjoyed watching the kids down there. Also has a very nice workout area just above the pool area. Breakfast was nice but not enough tables to sit while eating for the number of guests that were down there to eat. The tower part of the hotel has been updated some what recently so it is nicer then the older part. Over the phone […] the person I talked with was very helpful but once there didn't seem like much of customer service was offered. "I asked for queens, but was seeing doubles"
Was very specific with my reservation requiring two queen beds. At check in they assured me that is what I had. Hotel was listed as newly renovated. First room was in an area that was quite dated, musty, bathroom vent was coated in lint & dirt, and it had two double beds. Contacted the front desk only to be assured that I was wrong and they were in […] fact queen beds, but refused to view the room with me. She had the correct canned verbage of apologizing, but her overall tone was very unsympathetic & no urgency to find suitable accomodations, Apparently there is no management on staff Saturday afternoons. I had much better luck at the front desk in person. We found a compromise of a king w/sofa sleeper in the tower, which was fresher in appearance (vent was still dirty). We stayed at the Plaza hotel recently for pleasure. I was disappointed in the quality of our room. I feel it wasn't updated, and our beds were extremely uncomfortable. Our room was fairly clean, however. The hallway carpets looked extremely old and dirty, and stained. The lobby areas were very nice and updated. The pool area was beautiful and clean. […] There were places to sit around the perimeter of the pool, and places to sit on a deck setting half a floor above the pool. The pool area was a nice atmosphere for families or groups to gather. Overall, for the price, I felt like our room was too small and not updated. Add that to the extreme uncomfortableness of our bed, and I wouldn't stay there again, despite the nice location, nice pool and nice lobby areas.
