I was pleasantly surprised at the convenience and the ammenities that were presented upon my arrival! The friendly staff, including the maintenance providers, were very helpful, during my short stay. I will definitely plan a return trip for my return visits!

Non Smoking Room was full of smoke. Breakfast was minimal. Otherwise ok.

The free wi-fi did not work.

The shower head was malfunctioning so it was a nightmare to take a shower. All the vending machines were out of water. The microwave was broken. The staff was courteous and apologetic, however that did not make my stay pleasant or comfortable.

Heat wasn't working in room when we returned at 10 pm, didn't want hassle of a repairman so asked for a blanket (there were no extras in room); blanket provided was ratty and worn out. Wouldn't stay there again.

I recently stayed at the Howard Johnson's in Hadley, MA and I was completely satisfied. The room was clean and comfortable, the location was perfect, and the rate was very reasonable compared to other hotels in the immediate area. grabbed this room because dropping my son off at umass and wanted to stay and watch the pats ravens game. walls were paper thin and when we got into bed that nite greeted by bed bugs in our bed!! too late and to tired to complain lots of compitition along rte 9 you guys need to step it up big time!!!

The location was convenient and the rates were good. However the water in the shower wasn't very hot and there was a half eaten dried banana in one of the drawers.

Location of hotel very convenient and easy to find. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the room. although not the Ritz, was very acceptable and comfortable. I would stay there again if I have business in the Amhearst, Hadley or Sunderland area of Mass.

I occasionally spend weekends in Hadley, MA to visit two friends and have stayed at this Howard Johnson hotel before. It's well maintained, rates are reasonable and the room clean and comfortable. It's a short drive to many excellent Northampton restaurants. I'll be back soon.

The staff was pleasant and the room was reasonable comfortable for a single night stay. Have returned and plan to in the future.

We were initially assigned to a room on the first floor which smelled of cigarretts and mold (suposedly a non smoking room). I called to complain immediately, and we were reassigned to a room on the top floor in the newer building, which smelled a lot better, but for the price was not nearly nice enough. Do yourself a favor, plan way ahead and book […] yourself into a nicer hotel (this was a big homecoming college w/e, and I waited too long to book in a better place). Very low rate, considering the other hotels. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Included breakfast and free Wi-Fi. However, the walls are thin, and an unfortunate smell permeated the room - maybe in the carpet from before it was a non-smoking room. Old, well-worn fixtures in the bathroom and some mildew in the caulking and shower tile. Updating would […] make a big difference. BUT, the next night I paid twice as much for a room at another hotel (I won't name it, but let's say Paris must be blowing all the profits instead of reinvesting them . . . ) and, among many other problems, there was mildew in the shower tile at that hotel, too. The room was clean & what we needed for the night. It is very close to the mall.

The room was good size, but overall not as nice as the other hotels right around it. Breakfast was not as good,either. I would recommend the other name hotels on route 9 over Hojo's, but when they all are busy when something is going on at UMass Amherst, a room is a room.

We have stayed at this Hojo for a few days every summer for the past 15 yrs. It has always been a favorite destination because of the pool and walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The pool is always lovely and clean. Thank you!

The beds & sheets where clean and comfortable. However the room was disgusting. We ended up leaving one night early because we just didn't want to stay there any longer. The bathroom shower curtain had brownish red stains on it, the towels the second day had brown stains on them, the floor in the room was never vaccumed as we walked in the first day […] to find crushed crackers all over the floor and they staid there during our whole visit. Staff was polite and helpful but the department incharge of housekeeping was awful and needs to be replaced. Lisez la suite

This hotel was not worth the money. The central areas were all well kept, but my room smelled musty, the air conditioner was pumping out humid air, and worst of all there were stains on the carpet. I don't know how they can get away with charging what they do.

Solidly built hotel with outdoor pool. Room was extremely quiet -- very condusive to a good night's sleep. One could NOT hear doors slamming down the hall or toilets flushing. The outdoor pool is a plus in summer. The location is extremely convenient to U. Mass Amherst and other colleges.

We were staying here to be in close proximity to Amherst College. I had two children with me and they really enjoyed being able to swim in the pool (outdoors). Being very close to downtown Amherst was perfect. There were also plenty of options for food, both independent and chain restaurants. Very comfortable and clean rooms.

Hotel was good but the breakfast was basic at best.

The front desk personnel were uniformly friendly and helpful in answering my questions about the area. The room was clean, the bed comfortable.

This hotel was quiet, clean, comfortable and only 3 miles from UMASS Amherst. Any time I come visit my student, I plan to stay here. The staff was very friendly, the continental breakfast was complete with yogurts cereals, muffins, bagels, waffles, toast, coffee and juices. It was just right. The bed was comfortable and I had a non smoking king size […] bed room in the front of the building, next to the main road and never heard a thing. My room looked like it was newly renovated, cheery and large. The bathroom was very clean. I was impressed for the price. I will return often. This is a moderately priced hotel that proved to be as clean, as comfortable, and as accommodating as one could possibly want for the price.

We just returned from attending our granddaughter's graduation from U Mass in Amherst. We were so happy to book a room on Hotels.com at Howard Johnson Amherst Hadley. The location was the best---only 1and a half miles from the campus. It was so easy to get there. There are so many good restaurants and stores nearby. Spacious rooms. Well appointed. Very comfortable & a great price.

Great ratings for what the hotel was asking but much more could be done to reduce waste; breakfast throw away dishware was unappealing to me with my green mindset. Same could be applied for the disposable cups etc... in the room. Beds could have been more firm but the lack of such did not disturb my sleep. convenient, not expensive, clean...very friendly front desk staff. wish we had known about this hotel a few years ago as our daughter is graduating next month!

We were visiting our daughter who is attending college in Amherst. This hotel has a great location, on Route 9, close to downtown Amherst and Northampton (good restaurants and shopping). The hotel staff was courteous, the room was clean. Nothing fancy, but we were just looking for a place to sleep. I will definitely come back.

room heating system was broken, did not have enough hot water for shower, did not vacume, did not clean the bathroom, tv controler was broken, they could not fix it, old linens

Dirty, heat didn't work, and we were accused by a security guard of smoking weed when it must have been some other "youths" in a neighoring room. This is a last ditch plan if you can't find ANYTHING else.

By today's standards, the sinks, fixtures, furniture, and amenities are just out of date. The hotel needs a remodel or reduce the room rates significantly to make the perceived value correct.
