"Great location for convenience; room need updating"
Overall, please with hotel, room, food, and services provided. The room needed a new paint job and spacking to seal the cracks in the wall. The food was good (hot breakfast and the cookies at night); best suggestion is to add eggs to the menu for breakfast. As for location, it was convenient but I would not recommend going far from it for safety reasons […] at night. The hotel's bar and grill closed much earlier than expected (before 11 PM on a Friday night). The room did not have a large dresser but instead two night stands. It did not have a fridge or a microwave. There is no place close to this hotel or the Hyatt for basic supplies without using transportation. Overall, pleased with visit. It was better than the Hyatt based on its food offerings, cookies at night, and Internet service provided with the room rate. Lisez la suite

"Location, safety, quality"
The good things: the hotel was quiet, our room was cold, there was onsite parking, the location was close to the convention center (within walking distance), and they had free shuttle for the downtown area. The not so good things: the area is not safe. We were confronted by people on the street asking for money each time we were heading back to the […] hotel and someone in the parking lot tried to swindle my husband for money for parking there that was not a hotel employee. He reported it to the front desk and they said they are always having to run people off. The lobby did not smell good--they need to keep it freshened 24/7. The furniture in our room was old and the A/C unit looked like it had never been cleaned. I don't mind that the hotel is old (88 years), but the owner needs to invest in the restoration and safety of this hotel before it is too late. Lisez la suite
"Logistically? nice. but,..."
good location. short walk to Convention Center and downtown. good restaurants all over. new bathroom fixtures, but room was antiquated. tv barely worked. mattress was horrible. linens were clean. wifi was decent. had cookies and milk in lobby. lobby computer was at least 12 years old.
"Rundown"
This was a much nicer hotel in its hey day; however it is very rundown.
"terrible"
My bathroom had major water issues - no way the hotel did not know about this. I would not stay here!! Checked out after one day and moved to the crown plaza a block away. Cost a bit more but soo much better!!
"Better than the other reviews suggested"
I was attending a conference at the big attraction hotel which was in very easy walking distance as were the trains. Here's my overall impression: The hotel is a bit shabby but clean and safe. My room was very clean and the bed firm but comfortable. The tv is older and not a lot of choices but I had free wifi so I watched movies on my iPad - which I […] do at home even though I have a kajillion channels on my cable. I had a 6th floor view of the Dallas News and the landmark hotel across the way. I could hear the trains up until 10pm but they were not very loud or disruptive. My only complaint? Breakfast coffee is great but the rest is all carbs and processed foods and I'm on a gluten free diet plan. My solution? The super affordable and high quality breakfast place next door. As a single woman I felt safe walking around even in the early evening. My event let out at 9 at night but there were so many people I felt quite safe to walk the 2 blocks to my hotel. Lisez la suite
"Internet looks are deceiving"
Close to the convention center BUT hotel is dark, dingy, and dirty. Only one elevator. Poorly understaffed. I had a broken foot and had to walk to the convention center because the shuttle driver is also the bellhop and the valet! I also lugged my own luggage down three flights of stairs with a cast on...not safe but faster than waiting for "help."
"Not a great hotel"
My mother said if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.....However, as a longtime customer of Hotels.com, I needed to try to help others who use this online booking site. Not a friendly staff. Rooms VERY small, bed even smaller. It is listed as a hotel from the 1920's, however upon doing a search about information, found out it was […] listed as a hotel that is haunted. That must be why none of the workout room equipment worked, and those that did turned themselves off. They did get the breakfast right though. That was the only part of the stay that we didn't mind paying for, since it was included. Lisez la suite
"Hotel Lawrence in Dallas-Badly Needs Renovation"
Wall paper in rooms will textured and dark, looked dirty. Scuff marks did not help. Rug was dark green and matted, looked dark and dingy. Room was very, very small. Only one elevator. The valet is also the bellhop, and the shuttle driver...quite comical. I have a broken foot and had to walk around town because there was no one to drive the shuttle!
"Great price, so so hotel"
The price was great. The hotel itself was not so great, The rooms were very dated, The hotel was dark and cold feeling. There was only one elevator that worked and it took 5 minutes for it to find its way down to the lobby. Not super satisfied
"3 stars"
I definitely fell like you pay for the location of the hotel. It's not a luxury hotel like the omni or hilton. But I was comfortable and I like what I payed for the room. I would only say I would have liked a better t.v set.
"Not as Described"
This hotel looks great on the internet...but not so much when you arrive.

"DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!"
This hotel seemed to be a great attraction in the Dallas West end area. The hotel charged me for two nights after a miscommunication was recieved. I was told that the check out time was at 12.00 P.M. that afternoon by one of the associates. I checked out a little after 11. The hotel not only charged me for two nights (one of which i didnt even stay) […] but they charged it to my card 3 days later. The hotel is not cooperating with the situation the least bit. The room was entirely too small. The hotel did not have a comforter on the bed, only two top sheets. The service was difficult to work with. No soap was in the room. There was no Hotel parking available. The area we stayed in although said to be very pleasable was nothing to that sort. I was asked for change multiple times from homeless people LIVING feet away from the hotel. I was actually very cautious of walking around a corner due to the feeling of i MAYT BE MUGGED and be the latest item in the Dallas Morning News. The stay was short and will never happen again! HORRIBLE HOTEL! i will NEVER stay in this facility again!!! I have stayed in the Crowne Plaza a few blocks away from this establishment and would recomend the facility to other travelers like myself but not this hotel. Much more like a motel atmosphere. NOT SATISFIED THE LEAST BIT!!!!!! Lisez la suite
"Hotel Lawrence in Dallas, Texas"
In one room the T.V. had a black box on all the channels so no good pictures. Elevators quick working had to walk up 7 flight of stairs and had a minor astma attack. Breakfast room was not stocked no coffee, bisquits, or waffle mix
"vintage works"
Loved the bathrooms! Very comfy, super friendly staff, and affordable. If you want a good hotel to start your Dallas exploring, this is it
"Worse than a youth hostel"
The front desk wasn't wearing shoes when I checked in. I should have known at that moment it was going to be a bad hotel. The sheets had hair on them. The curtains were dripping with stains. The windows were so dirty I could see out. I have never stayed in a hotel so awful.
"valet parking"
got 2 dents in using valet parking , one each time, custumer had car broke into when we arrived
"Hotel Lawrence, Dallas"
Faded and jaded - seriously in need of a makeover!
"excellent marketing, poor product"
Whoever did the marketing for this hotel should be awarded a multi-million dollar contract. The hotel was nothing like the pictures or written statements. The only thing truthful on the hotel's website is that it was old...and it shows. After entering the room, if I would have had my family with me, I would have turned around and checked out. It was […] dirty and unclean. The bathroom was dirty and had an old linen left in it from the previous guest. The floors were not vacuumed and the hallways were disgusting with old plates and silverware having being left so long that the food had hardened on the plates. Lisez la suite

"1925 at its worst"
Hotel Lawrence was one of the worst hotels we've stayed in. It smells like sewage, the room and the bathroom were tiny (ours was also an "upgrade") with a TV from the 1990s. Part of curtains were detached from the wall, even the sign in front of the hotel is broken. The front desk was not friendly or approachable at all. I would not recommend this hotel […] to anyone. The photos look stylish but the whole place is falling apart. Lisez la suite
"Hotel Lawrence!"
Location, Location, Location. The Hotel Lawrence has an amazing location in downtown dallas, near all the attractions (AA center) and also has an interesting history beginning in 1925. But, however, our room on the 8th floor was very small and not very comfortable, and the lobby of the Hotel smelled like mold and mildew. If you want to spend the night […] downtown dallas, stay at the Hotel Lawrence because they have fair prices! Lisez la suite
Hotel was dark and smelled old and musty. Fabreeze would go a long way here. The bedding left much to be desired when I walked in I thought they forgot to make the bed. However it was made with only a very think cover and sheet.
"Don't waste your money!"
This hotel was awful. After moving rooms initially. I thought I had gotten a better one until I turned on the shower. It pushed dirt out of the broken drain all over the tub. There are no covers on the uncomfortable bed, only sheets. You can hear people in other rooms as though you are all in the same one. The elevator broke so we had to use the stairs […] with lots of luggage. After all this is was a nightmare trying to get a refund for the second night because there was no way I was staying there another minute. Lisez la suite
"Hotel Lawrence"
No parking or parking validation, I was told to park on the street and received a 45 ticket, Hotel looks pretty old with only one working elevator
"good stay for great price"
just stayed one night at Dallas and got this hotel booked for a great price. It is surely rather old, but having perfect location at Houston Ave.
This hotel does not have a parking garage. A car parked in front of the hotel at a pay meter had the drivers side window broken out during our stay.
"Hotel Lawrence-Dallas close to convention center"
We had read poor reviews but decided to stay anyways because of historic hotel and great location by convention center. Well, sorry but the reviews were correct. Dirty/broken etc. Easy to fix/paint things were just not done. Dirty windows that completely let in the cold air. Only one elevator (I get that it is slow because it's old). Only good points […] were location and very nice shuttle service (not that is was always available). I would not stay again :( Lisez la suite
"Convenient Location, But Not Much Else"
The location is great, especially if you are doing touristy things like the JFK Museum. The hotel is old, which could be charming, but mostly wasn't. Some of the fixtures in our bathroom were broken, the bed was uncomfortable and did not include blanket or bedspread, only one elevator worked and the fitness center only had one piece of equipment that […] functioned. If you need a place to stay, the price here is good, it includes a free continental breakfast and reasonable parking rates. But, if you're looking for a lavish, up-to-date or generally well-maintained hotel, this is not for you. Lisez la suite
I stayed 1 night. The location is excellent if you want to visit the JFK museum, book a room overlooking Dealy Plaza, you'll have a view of the old Book Depository. The elevator is very very slow, take the stairs. If you don't like carbohydrates for breakfast, then give it a skip. Best to rent a car in Dallas as the sights are spread out. There are […] a couple of cheaper carparks within 1 block of the hotel, the valet parking is slow. The rooms are dated and tired but clean. The rooms are small, think European hotel rooms and you'll have something similar. It's not luxurious and doesn't deserve the rating Trip Advisor gives it, but if you're looking for a basic hotel in a great location then this is for you. But if you have a car then book elsewhere, you'll get better quality for your money. Check the prices at the bar before ordering, I ordered a glass of red wine and was stung $12. I didn't eat in the restaurant but the meals looked ok. Overall an average hotel but clean and safe. Lisez la suite
"My stay at the Hotel Lawrence"
I had a great 2 day stay at the Hotel Lawrence. I was there for a very special event involving people from a tv show. My friend and I wanted to have a marathon of said tv show while we were there, but we couldn't get the tv to input with the remote provided so I didn't think it was going to happen. However, we called the main desk and they sent someone […] right up with the capabilities to get the tv to do what we wanted. It was very nice of them since they could have easily said no. This, in my opinion, put them above the rest. Loved it. Lisez la suite
"easy to reach to the convention center"
Hotel building itself and facility is a little bit old, but well meintained.
"Hotel Lawrence - You Get What You Pay For!"
Is this hotel old? Yes. Could it use an overhaul? Yes. However, if you are looking for an affordable downtown hotel - this could be the place for you. The lobby is inviting, they serve cookies and milk in the evening (but they run-out quickly!), the continental breakfast is good, and from our window we could see the Grassy Knoll and Sixth Floor Museum! […] The downside to this hotel is the broken gym equipment, outdated rooms, and you sometimes feel that you are bothering the staff. If you go to the Hotel Lawrence expecting the Ritz, you will be dissapointed. Keep an open mind to this hotel and appreciate the value of this downtown location and you will have a pleasant stay. "3 stars a stretch"
I use Hotels all of the time and am always pleased with the choices I make. This one snuck up on me. Great downtown location but the place was kind of dumpy. One could easily see the the Hotel has potential if someone invested a little money into it. The rooms are small and outdated. The beds were old as well as the bathroom fixtures. It was clean enough […] to get me through my stay but next time I will splend a few bucks more and stay elsewhere. Lisez la suite
"eh--old tired and dated..."
Don't believe the pictures they offer - this place is really old, really tired & dated looking. It's time for either a major overhaul or just tear the place down and start again. The rooms are very small, very cramped with window mounted ac units. The beds were made with a bottom sheet, a top sheet and an incredibly thin duvet cover. No blankets not […] warmth. The bed itself was old and lumpy and not very comfortable. The bathroom was really interesting. The water in the shower ran either very very hot or very very cold. The water didn't drain from the tub. The free breakfast every morning consisted of some stale pastries, tiny boxes of cereal, or a "make your own waffle option" that never had any batter out - so you could see the waffle iron but that was about it. There was never an attendant there either. Parking was sort of a joke as well. When I initially got to the hotel I circled around it twice looking for either the parking area or a sign for the valet. Not finding either I had to call them and ask what to do. They had me park out front and they would try to get someone to come valet park my car later on. Weird. I took the "courtesy" shuttle van over the convention center one morning - very short wait -and that worked well. The next morning I again asked for the shuttle and was told he'd be "right there". The van was parked out front but no driver. Eventually a guy came in, spoke with the desk clerk a while and left. He took the shuttle. Never asked if I needed a ride - just left. I asked the deskclerk about the shuttle. She said he had some other people to go pick up and would be back in "while". Frustrated I just walked to the convention center. The "cookies and milk" in the evenings amounted to 1 plate of the frozen type cookie dough shoved into a microwave for a little while and put out with a very small pitcher of milk on a little bit of ice. There were a few napkins and paper cups....sort of a "help yourself to food poisoning" type of situation. No Lisez la suite
"1925 Hotel Lawrence a big disappointment"
Hotel Lawrence apparently does not focus on serving The customer or depend on repeat business to thrive. There was one person working the desk during busy Check in and out hours. Employees were not friendly Or helpful. Rooms were small and bathrooms tiny There was one elevator to serve the entire hotel. The bright spot in our stay was the shuttle Driver […] who Was friendly and helpful. Overall our stay was disappointing and a poor value for the money. Lisez la suite

"NEVER GOING BACK !!!!!"
drove to a shady part of town, no parking, elevator was not working the first day, window in the room was cracked, paint was peeling off, dusty, the corridors smelled musty, and there were random people hanging around the hotel corridor and even around the hotel. All in all, not really a 3 Start hotel and I would never go back.

Room was clean; lobby needs work. Service / personnel very nice. Shuttle available was good. TV was not HD. Only one elevator working, but ok. Parking during weekend behind hotel and only $5/day.
"Hotel Lawrence - poor"
One elevator. Someone threw up in the elevator and the smell was terrible, but no other options to go up and down. Phone didn't work in room to call down to the front desk. Shower didn't work well. Internet wireless code did not work on my laptop. Disappointed.
"Hotel Lawrence A place to meet and greet"
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It was conviently located near the train station. The lobby was under repair but the hotel was a great place to put your head at night.
"St Lawrence"
Great location for sightseeing and to explore Dallas.
"Hotel Lawrence"
The most horrible experience I have ever had. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Pictures on the internet are very decieving...don't look that great at all. Curtains looked like they were hung up straight out of the dryer..all wrinkled..wrappers and some peanut butter crackers still in drawer..basin in bathroom dirty..dirty carpet! Extra charges […] after checking in that was not told about..$100.00...Bad restaurant..food not that great.. Lisez la suite
"The Hotel Laurence in Dallas, Tx"
We made reservations to check in on New Year's Eve. When we arrived at the Hotel Laurence, we found the parking lot was small and full. We paid meter while we checked in and unloaded luggage. We asked about the parking situation and were told that we'd have to park at the Hyatt about two blocks away. Valet was for hotel guests only, so we self parked […] for $10. Then came a cold, breezy walk back to The Laurence. Back at the room we found there was no comforter or blanket on the bed. We contacted front desk and was told that a comforter would be sent up momentarily. Four hours later and no comforter, we had to leave for our dinner reservation. Very disappointed in the whole experience Lisez la suite
