We are a young couple and we staid two nights at this hotel in december 2012. The bearkfast was oustanding (bold eggs, waffle that you make by yourself etc..) and the room was clean and quiet but a bit small. The hotel was also near the downtown (25mn by feet) which was convenient. We recommend it.

UN motel de plus haut standing que les motels de bord de route. L hotel est tres bien entretenu , l acceuil agréable , il en retrait de la rue principale de santa barbara donc au calme . un peu loin du centre ville pour y aller a pieds , mais autour de l hotel on trouve toutes les chaines necessaire pour manger ou faire des courses.

Nous ne sommes restés qu'une seule nuit donc nous n'avons pas pu profiter de toutes les infrastructures de l'hôtel (Spa, piscine). La chambre était spacieuse et propre. La salle de bain était un peu vieillotte et mériterait d'être refaite et nous avons eu un souci de toilettes. L'hotel est tres bien situé face à la mer et à côté du Pier de Santa Monica. Une grande rue le separe de la plage mais il y a peu de circulation et un passage pietons à 2 pas. Nous conseillons de ne pas prendre le petit déjeuner dans le restaurant: les Americains ne proposent généralement pas de buffet et à moins d'aimer les pommes de terre sautées hors de prix avant 10h, il vaut mieux trouver un café dans le centre de Santa Barbara. Le café y sera de meilleure qualité et le prix plus raisonnable. A noter: le parking vous sera facturé $10/ jour, ce qui ne nous a pas été expliqué à notre arrivée.

It's currently under renovation which I was not told about. Furnishings were awful. I had a non-smoking room but the people living in the room below me smoked so the odor infiltrated my room. Not a good experience.Avis véridique Hotels.com

"Terrible Hotel -"
NO A/C in rooms... so open the window - but no screens. Only accessable outlet was in bathroom, even the table top lights didn't work because there was no outlet. Bathroom is tiny with wallpaper falling off. Shower handle hanging broken off tile and got a luke warm shower at best. Beds were hard and pillows flat... seemed to be 20 years old. The sheets […] were scratchy and the towel was like the towels we got in gym class... small and sand paper! There was a nice flat screen TV and a microwave in the room. Hotel was loud with drunk kids running around. Hotel is walking distance to downtown. I definitely do not recommend this hotel (unless you are drunk kids that don't care). "In need of major rennovation!"
I stayed here a couple of times when it was the Travelodge and it was a good cheap place to stay. Now, the exterior is completely dilapidated. The interior seemed like it was from the 70s. The carpet was gross, cigarette burns on our sheets, the wall heater/cooler was falling off and there were burns or mold behind it. The room smelled of harsh cleaning […] products. Absolute filth, garbage and laundry outside on cement. Room was still being cleaned at 4pm. Broken swamp cooler. No A/C, no ceiling fan. Torn fabric on chair. Water damaged carpet. No window screens. Ineffective window locks. Vagrents loitering on grounds. Immediately after check-in, we checked out and called Expedia. Hotel Manager lied to Expedia stating […] we had not checked out when if fact we had. We ended up having to drive from Santa Barbara to Laguna Nigel to stay with family. the bathroom looked awesomely renovated. The tiles were so cool. The tub had a big gap where it was supposed to meet the base. The tub had dirt scum that wiped off with a wash cloth but still?!!!! There was no closet in either of the suit rooms. The second bedroom was 80% bed and no tv. The bathroom window was a slider so it would slide up but wouldn't […] stay open and was very dirty. The carpet on all the hallway floors and balcony was old, dirty and ripped. We were not given any bed pillows, just the pillows that were layed out for decoration that matched the bedspread. The lobby where you get breakfast fit like 2 people MAX. The shrubbery was beautiful and the hotel has great potential. IT has a huge community balcony that wraps around the whole upstairs. "Needs renovation"
A perfect location with wonderful accommodating staff (best there is), but their hotel needs some cosmetic upgrades. Once in the room, we were more than ok, although the wall paper was falling off in the restroom (that's what I mean by cosmetic upgrades, though furniture has just been replaced). The walkways of the hotel are horrendous, makes you […] think you are in a cheap motel, but if they were to remove the carpet in the walkways, since it's an outdoor style hotel, it would look better, and you would not feel like you're in a trashy place. Again, once inside our 1King Standard room, we were fine. All the looks of a 3 star hotel inside, except our room needed some cosmetic upgrades. The friendliness and effectiveness of the staff made the little we didn't like seem like nothing on the second night of our stay. Try it for yourself! The owner/s of this hotel also own other properties that are more than outstanding in every way. Again the staff is the cream of the crop. The price is hard to beat! "Needs remodeling"
Our stay was frankly awful. Im not the kind of person who posts negative stuff on the net, but I felt compelled to warn others. Our room was never cleaned, even after we asked the front desk. And the shower was a tiny little trickle of water. It felt like a small hotel in central Mexico, after they redirected the rio grande. "Sta Barabara Fiest Inn - bad experience"
Although the hotel is conveniently located, the actual place was a mess. There were old matresses all over the packing lot. My boyfriend was bit by what we can only assume were bed bugs because there were blood stains on the sheets when he woke up after killing one. And the worst thing of all was that the pressure of water for the shower was slim to […] none, both in the late evening and in the mornings. It took us over 40 minutes each to shower what would have take normally 15-20 minutes. Lastly because it "motel style", there were kids running back and forth and it felt as if the building was gonna fall down. Even when someone walked up and down the stairs, we felt it. "Convenient location/low end"
My friend and I booked this room with the mindset of backpackers...so, we didn't have high expectations. Good thing, because one of our beds had a hair on the sheet (yes, UNDER the comforter). The drain handle in the bathtub was broken (and lying in our tub). The shower head comes from the top of overhead ceiling, but it's not a rainshower head, and […] there is virtually no water pressure, so we would've been better off wiping ourselves with wet washclothes. The towels are SUPER tiny (And we're both smaller than 5'1" and not so big around the middle either). The walls are thin. You can hear everything happening outside your room. There is a lack of wall outlets -- even though we had a big, beautiful mirror and makeup table in our room, there was no outlet (and no light) near it. The only working lights were the ones between the two beds. There was an extra lamp and a fan (no A/C) but no outlet to plug them in! Just be aware of what you're paying for at this hotel....we originally booked here because it was less expensive than paying for a room at a hostel...but, if you read good reviews of any hostels in the area, you may be better off or in a similar situation. our room had large patches of black mold in the bathroom (not to mention a huge hole in the wall). the back of the hotel was a garbage dump of old furniture. i'm usually not picky about hotels, but this one was more suited for senior week. if you're looking for an affordable hotel in santa barbara, the "presidio" or the days inn looked much cleaner […] and were a little closer to downtown. Very cute hotel from the outside with a great location, but the hotel itself was very old and the furnishings/linens were equally old...for instance the blanket on the bead was threadbare with holes. There was no clock in the room, despite having a giant flat screen TV. The toilet paper holder had obviously fallen off and been repaired with duct tape. […] In spite of the age of most of the furnishings, everything was quite clean. Main problem were the other guests in the hotel - someone was walking around at 3:50 AM knocking on every door in the hotel multiple times and then walking away. VERY disturbing. The place was a real dump!! When we pulled into the parking lot I new it was bad. The grounds were a mess. Our room was on the second floor and the out side had this outside carpet that was lifted and torn. I caught my foot on it and almost fell. The room was messing and the hot and cold we could never figure out. Either to hot or to cold and could […] never adjust it.....Their was no iron or hair blower so we had to call to get one. The biggest complaint is that there is NO AIR CONDITIONING. I didn't even know they made California rooms without a/c. I will NEVER assume a room has air conditioning again- I have been scarred. They did include a fan. That's nice. That's like not providing a fly swatter for a roach problem. OK, so I felt like I had to sleep with the windows open--- […] only there are NO SCREENS. I was wary to sleep with the screenless window open. I felt that at any time an arm could come forcefully in. I felt like Andy Dick's bottom. OK, so the fridge is in a weird spot--- I found it by accident as it was in the dresser. I am not kidding. There is no alarm clock, which wouldn't be a problem since the thin walls and sweltering heat keep you from falling asleep in the first place, but there was no clock. Even the microwave oven clock wasn't working. Unless, of course, it was ALWAYS 88:88pm. And the water pressure sucked. SUCKED. There wasn't any. I don't even think it comes from the water department. I think the shower was just crying from poor self-worth issues. It sucks that there is no management after 10pm, which is about the time you start wishing your neighbors would shut up. Of course, it makes sense that no staff would actually LIVE there. Unless you make a delicious waffle in the tiny lobby that is worth a hundred bucks, this is a total waste of money. This hotel should not have been advertised by hotels.com. It is a dump and I was actually going to request the return of my money. We paid in advance and stayed (unfortunately) 2 nights there. None of the lights in the room worked, and we had to ask for new bulbs. The hotel is old and not in great shape. It appears that the Wi-Fi doesn't work very well on the first floor but when you go to the third floor the water pressure drops significantly. The employees there were great though and very helpful. Really nice and accomodating. They even had breakfast in the morning. Nothing super fancy, but it had pasteries, […] cereal, and waffles.
