Eh. Better choices in SF for sure. This is part of that corridor of older hotels in the Nob Hill/Union Square area. Booked via Hotels.Com, which is always a pleasure, but when I got to the hotel, they informed me that my reserved and paid for King room was not available and that I was now in a room "without a bed", just a queen pull out couch. Needless […] to say, my counter offer was "get me my room as booked or put me in a comparable room at a comparable hotel". Ultimately they "found" a king room for me, but it was not quite as roomy as I recall from a previous visit, and it was not terribly well appointed. My stays at the Downtown Courtyard Marriott are vastly superior to this and the rates are better. Lisez la suite

Great hotel with an outstanding staff. Located on Knob Hill, so either a short cab/cable car/car ride to everything you might want to see in San Francisco. Great views from the outside rooms, but can get noisy in the mornings. Well worth it!!!

Hotel is a half black from the cable car, a few blocks up the hill from Union Square and one block away from the 1 bus that runs parallel to California (East/West), as well as a short walk to Chinatown. Front desk staff were courteous and helpful. Only complaint was the hall carpets are ugly, but really doesn't affect the quality of the stay.

The staff went well out of their way to make our stay the best.

The room was better than what I had expected it to be. The bathroom was longwise with the room and the room was longwise with windows - which was very refreshing. Usually we have a room with only 1 window, but here our room had 2 windows with a fabulous view. Sunrises were very beautiful from our room. Quality of service was great too. This hotel was convenient for the business district, shopping at Union Square and access to Fisherman's Wharf because both cable car routes stop right outside the front door. I spent an entire day of my stay working from my room and the room service, concierge and cleaning staff were really attentive and ensured that I had everything I needed to keep […] me going. Booked this hotel as part of an anniversary celebration vacation, and the hotel staff were kind enough to provide complementary Champagne! Very comfortable room but noisy w.c. (it did not bother us). Really liked the comfortable beds. Cable car lines crossing and stop right outside the hotel, so easy to get around, especially with a CityPass. Pleased […] with our choice and would return. We really enjoyed this hotel for the most part. The staff was absolutely great. The beds were not at all comfortable however.

This was a great hotel. Perfect location to sight see in the city. You can jump on the trolley right out front. The staff was extremely helpful. Our room was beautiful and comfy.

The view and service were spectacular. Even though we are Bay Area residents we look forward to another treat staying at this beautiful hotel!

I would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family. It is a modern and tastefully decorated hotel with helpful and pleasant staff who cater to your every need. This is a super hotel about which I have only one complaint, and that is the in-room coffee service. It is awkwardly stored, has no really good place to set it up (far from the water, no suitable counter top), and most of all, was just cheap... only one cup each, and only one small container of half and half for each cup. Before arriving this hotel, I was worried about the noise from the tram as a few people have mentioned it. However, I found that the noise was mild and didn't interrupt my sleep at all (I'm a pretty light sleeper). In fact, I extended one more night after staying two nights. There was a few times that I brought things back to hotel and continue to shop and tour at other area without lugging things with me. Although the room size is a bit small but is bright and clean. My wife and I stayed just one night thankfully. The room was not very well kept, the road noise was quite load and the extra costs such as valet add up quick.

I've been using this hotel as my go-to SF hotel, as it's not right in Union Square, which can be quite noisy, crowded. Plus this hotel is in walking distance to just about everything worth seeing, Ferry Market, Union Square, Nob Hill, Financial District, Polk, Marina, etc. The rooms are clean, and well laid out. The room was small, but well appointed. The only problem with this hotel is there isn't a lot around it except other large hotels. You have to do a fair amount of walking to find restaurants and shopping or cab it. The hotel staff was professional, pleasant, and helpful.

This was our second choice hotel but should have really been our first. It has amazing views of SF plus the location is in a safe well presented area, with the trams/trolleys on California and Powell stopping directly outside. We really enjoyed our stay at The Stanford Court. The hotel room was very comfortable and even though the bathroom was small, we somehow managed with one adult and two 15 year-old teenage girls! The service from the moment we arrived was outstanding...the bellman, bartenders, waiters and concierge all took the time to make sure we were satisfied and […] our needs were met. The restaurant is quite good for breakfast but we did not try other meals there. And we couldn't ask for a better location. Situated at the crossroads of two cable car lines and a not so distant walk from Union Square or Chinatown (if you like climbing hills), we were able to get around quite easily. We stayed one night here when my sis and my boyfriend were running the san francisco marathon. It was a safe neighborhood, very clean room, and the bed was super comfortable. The room was a bit small but it was worth it, the service was great! It was also close to union square so that was convenient as well.

This is a lovely hotel, nice decor in the rooms, great location, and really nice staff. However I was surprized and this may not be the hotel's fault to have made a reservation though hotels.com for 3 people - 2 adults one child, and I checked off deluxe with a view category and found that it was suitable for 3 people. But when I checked in it only […] has one queen bed??? Could not for the life of me figure out how to have asked for 2 queens. The front desk told me we could have a cot but it was never sent. I had to request one and it arrived promptly and looked like it had sheets but later we realized it was just a comforter so we had to call for sheets?? Weird that it didn't come with sheets. And then when we went to shower - there were only 3 towels in the entire bathroom (which is large and nice). No washcloths, no hand towels, so had to call for them. But still - I really do recommend the hotel. It was a great location, good price, and really a terrific room. One more minor complaint - why can't they provide free wi-fi when every other hotel in our 18 days out west provided free wi-fi or free internet via an ethernet cable. Lisez la suite

Really enjoyed our stay at the Stanford. Staff was great. Rooms were great. If there is one thing they could do better is provide free internet in the rooms as the daily rate of $14.95 is somewhat offensive.

Fantastic facility; attentive and friendly staff; convenient Nob Hill location; reasonabler rates. It just doesn't get much better in San Francisco. If you can handle the hills, the hotel is within walking distance of the art museums, the Embarcadaro, and even Fisherman's Wharf. Great experience.

We dearly loved the comfortable room at the Stanford Court. It was quiet, even though we noticed a wedding party and thought we might be kept awake. But not so! It was very quiet. We loved the bar, which had entertainment the night we were there with a dance floor and a deejay. The only problem is that we had to take a cab everywhere we went, and though […] cabs are reasonable in San Francisco, it was a bit inconvenient. This hotel is beautiful. However, we requested a view and we got a construction site view with a tiny bit of the bay. A room with a view, means the whole view not just one corner.

The hotel and service were great. Luxurious rooms. Lovely bathroom. Prompt service. The location is on the top of Nob Hill and can be difficult if you like to walk around like me. If you take a cab or the streetcar - no problem. Nob Hill is nice, but very high end. I would stay there again.

We stayed here for 3 nights and this was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The rooms were nicely decorated but the service was by far the greatest part of the stay. My son got the flu and the staff went above and beyond to help with that. They have an outstandin workout room with tvs on every cardio machine. I really cannot say enough about […] this place. There is a street car right in front of the building which made travelling with kids convienient. This hotel" s renovation is very nicely done. The rooms are comfortable and attractive. The restaurant was another plus (we had breakfast there). The doormen are very helpful in getting a taxi for you. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

Nice hotel; surprisingly quiet for being in the middle of the city. Near the top of the plateau on California strreet, a challenging walk to get to the hotel on foot, but a great way to see San Francisco cable cars, which pass practically by the front door.

Everything is easy to go by Cable car. Just right beside the Hotel. Room is very clean and people is so friendy. Free Wifi in lobby, but not in room.

This hotel met all expectations for price. Clean, comfortable bed, safe location, friendly staff and good water pressure. My room was definitely on the small size but bc I was traveling solo I didn't mind.

We arrived extremely early (12am) at the hotel and very glad they accomodated us for an early checkin. So its like they gave us an additional night free! Bell Service was great. Reception was pleasant and very considerate. Concierge is helpful. Housekeeping was top notch. In-Room Dining was on time and the food was delicious and not over priced. Overall […] it was great! Location is great as it is accessible to 2 working cable car lines. The cable car along California St. is under construction. So make sure you get the day passes for the Muni/Cable car which they sell at the hotel. Also location is on top of the hill so it is hard to walk up hill everytime. Hotel is located near Fairmont and Mark Hopkins, good dining and drinking establishments. Hotel is located at intersection of California and Powell cable car lines (although Cal line is under repair), giving nice public transportation options to North Beach and Union Square. We arrived tired, late, and ready to rest. The staff took very good care of us, from taking our bags up to our room, parking our car, providing excellent direction for touring SF. We live in N CA and know the city pretty well. They were even able to offer more insights and kid friendly venues. Negative: 1) Parking is extremely difficult to find or very expensive 2) They have 2 sets of pillow for different kind of sleepers, but for some reason both sets were uncomfotable... 3) Air conditioner is located near the seiling and was blowing down - in my face - I had to turn it off at which point it became a bit warm in the room...
