Hotel à deux pas de la plage. Chambre très agréable, avec cuisine et soin repas, grande salle de bain et belle chambre. Dommage que le wifi soit payant. Cet hotel possède un excellent rapport prix/prestations/emplacement.

Une jolie chambre simple, design, avec un poisson dans son bocal, un patio, des meubles pratiques (table à repasser, nombreuses serviettes). Le matelas n'était pas super confort, et attention hôtel bruyant (ils jouent au bingo au bord de la piscine jusqu'à minuit, pour les couche-tôts c'est pas l'idéal). Mais on se gare facilement dans les environs, même si le quartier n'est pas très intéressant (en voiture c'est pas très grave). Mais à 20 euros de plus qu'un motel traditionnel c'est quand même une belle affaire, et un lieu assez unique.

La "chambre" est en fait une vraie suite qui comporte un séjour, une cuisine équipée, un bar-table, un coin bureau, une chambre à coucher et une grande salle de bain. Le lit est un king size super confortable. Il y a aussi un balcon où on peut prendre un thé tranquillement. Le seul hic de la chambre, c'est que le bruit de la climatisation est incroyablement fort! Heureusement, on arrive en avril, pas besoin d'allumer la clim tout le temps. À propos du petit déjeuner, le choix est satisfaisant (il y a même du riz et des nouilles instantanés!), mais le service "œuf fait sur place" est disponible seulement dans la semaine.

Inadmissible de servir le petit-déjeuner dans de la vaisselle jetable : cela donne un goût éxécrable aux aliments et c'est 1 gaspillage énorme totalement anti-écologique et l'endroit est totalement déhumanisé

"Definitely luxurious"
Beautifully decorated hotel, customer service oriented staff, good fitness facility. Would definitely return again. Some ideas of improvement: offer free wifi in the rooms as not all companys reimburse those items. Also a complimentary breakfast would be kind especially with early morning meetings. Overall great historic hotel.

Perfect...except for big city noise at night! But, worth staying directly downtown for the convience and not needing a rental vehicle. The hotel is wonderful and staff the best!
We were on the 3rd floor a bit of noise from the street, one vey rude staff member but everyone else very friendly and helpful. Beautiful lobby/reception area.

We had two rooms. one was regular room and the other room was landmark suite.. both rooms were way tooooo small... We had wheelchairs and we had a hard time accessing/ moving around..
Had the best sleep. Very comfortable beds with fluffy duvets. Great location for restaurants in Gaslamp district. A lovely classic hotel.

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect in that it was on the edge of the Gaslamp District, so not too noisy. The room was large which is a big bonus as we'd been travelling for 3 weeks before arriving and now, space is very important. The hotel also provided as much free […] bottled water as we wanted. Awesome hotel (with an amazing package rate we got here!). Great service, fantastic rooms, perfect location, with tons of amenities – total deal. Walked most everywhere because of the location in Gaslamp (great for restaurants). Plus next door to Horton Plaza for entertainment & shopping. "A 5 Star Hotel but where is the coffee"
I don't think asking for a cup of coffee at 6:20 in the morning is unreasonable. People leave for airports early and I, for one, like having a cup of coffee for the road. It would be easy to have coffee service in the lobby available for the early AM departing guests. When I asked if there was coffee available the correct response would have been "let […] me get you some. How do you take it?" Not "the restaurant is not open yet". We booked this hotel based on the great price and everything was beyond incredible when we got there. It had a classic regal feel to it and the location was awesome. In the heart of the downtown. "True Luxury Experience on my honeymoon"
I stayed at the US Grant for 1 night during my honeymoon on my way to another destination and it was an absolutely fabulous hotel. Very comfortable, great service. convenient location in downtown San Diego. I loved the slippers and turn down service at night. And the room was in all ways luxurious. Well worth it!

I only had two concerns; one was that the restaurant was very slow for breakfast service, too expensive for what they served and they had the surprising policy of free coffee for take out but if they served it to you at your table, it was $4.00. Literally, a person could have gotten their own coffee and saved the money had they known. I thought that […] was a bit unreasonable. The second concern really had nothing to do with the hotel and more to do with the city of San Diego. The homeless population around the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. My husband and I stayed at the US Grant for two days on our first visit to San Diego. "Hardly a 5 Star hotel."
I stayed here over Christmas weekend. I expected a lot more of a 5 star hotel. Instead I got: -20 minute delay on our dinner reservation. -broken shower door in the bathroom. -a chair was missing from the desk when we got into the room. -the TV was way too small given the distance from the bed. -a few pieces of furniture were broken. -the toilet paper […] was like using cardboard. The linens were clean, the service was all friendly and efficient, but the hotel is not a 5 star. It is fine and an acceptable place to stay, but not 5 star. Lisez la suite

The room was very elegant, nice and clean. I booked a two beds room because we are 3 adults. We called hotels.com to make sure we book 2 beds room. But the room had only one bed. We were so happy with our stay at the gorgeous US Grant! The lobby was beautiful and nothing about the hotel disappointed us. Beautiful room, wonderful restaurant & bar. We would stay there again in an instant.
Character hotel and very nice. Staff were pleasant, curteous, and helpful. Hotel is within walking distance to many interesting places in San Diego. Biggest downsides are: a) many emergency vehicles with loud sirens screaming by at all hours and b) no in- room coffee makers.

We stayed the night at the US Grant for our wedding night. We loved the room and the shower was amazing. It must have been as large as my closet. We were met with yummy chocolate covered strawberries and a very nice card congragulating us on our wedding. We had dropped a bottle of wine off to be chilled and delivered on our arrival. We received a claim […] check for the wine. However, our wine was given and consumed by another guest. It was pretty heartbreaking as we had saved this for well over a year just for our wedding evening. The hotel was very apologetic, but I would expect much more from a luxury collection hotel. What a wonderful hotel. We have spent four weeks staying at some pretty special hotels (Vantana Inn etc) but the welcome, the room and everything about the US Grant execeeded our expectations and outshone the other hotels we stayed in. We had a fabulous room (1005) and the staff could not have been more helpful but were also quite happy to let us be. "Not a place to stay with your kids"
I know Downtown is not a very family friendly area but we had to stay in the area for a particular reason and being that this is supposed to be a 5 Star hotel I thought we should be safe. The lobby/ballroom area is very nice and beautifully maintained - I wish they paid that type of attention to the care and maintenance of the rooms as well! the carpets […] were so stained that I was afraid to let my kids touch the ground with their barefeet. The furniture in the room was equally stained so I didn't allow them to sit on the chairs. The entertainment unit and window sills were so dusty - horrible! The turn down service was a nicety but when we went to put the kids to bed there was hair all over the nice white sheets. All in all I would not stay at this hotel again - ESPECIALLY for the amount of money it costs to stay at this supposed 5 star hotel. And YES - there were homeless people directly in front of the hotel, not great....not great, at all. Lisez la suite

"HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!"
I have spent more than a few nights in 5-star hotels around the world, including several different Four Seasons Hotels, a couple different Ritz-Carlton Hotels, The Bristol in Paris and The Hermitage in Monte Carlo. Under no circumstances does the US Grant compare to any of those hotels on any level! From the get go, this hotel was a disappointment, […] starting with the parking situation. You must valet park at the Grant. OK, no problem, except that it's oddly set up. The valet station is actually not at the front entrance of the hotel, but thru an adjacent alleyway at the back of the hotel. We initially drove past it, as it seemed illogical that the valet would be at the back of the hotel. Once you've handed your car off, you must then enter thru the back door and walk past the ballroom entrances, past the elevators, past the restaurant and all the way thru the lobby to the reception desks at the FAR END of the lobby. It's awkward and weird, but... OK. The valet delivered us the the reception desk, as he should have, and left us with an agent and our bag. He did not offer to take the bags up to our room. We then stood around for a good 3-4 minutes and waited for the reception agent to finish his phone conversation with another employee. At any other 5-star hotel I've previously stayed at, that reception agent would have hung up the phone the second he saw us, so that he could be attentive and polite. So, we haven't even checked in, and I'm already bothered by three things! We were there celebrating our wedding anniversary. This was mentioned to Sergio, the reception agent, twice; once by our valet, and once by me. There was no acknowlegement of this, at all. Now, I'm not a needy or greedy person, but again, this being a 5-star hotel, I had certain expectations. A card, a bottle of champagne, a basket of fruit, perhaps? Nope. Nothing. Not so much as a "Congratulations!" NOT 5-star service! The room was just OK, not great. We expected a bathtub, but didn't have one. Lisez la suite
