séjour mitigé, équipe de l'hotel au top, mais chambres décevantes, 2 lits simples au lieu d'un double, tv cathodique des années 80, wifi payant, décoration de la chambre digne d'un épisode de derrick, places de parking handicapées occupées par les voitures de la direction.emplacement parfait de l'hotel, services au top dans l'hotel, jacuzzi et sauna ouverts sur une large plage horaire, information tres lisible et toujours disponible, une equipe de l'hotel tres a l'ecoute et toujours agreable

The hotel is perfect for a visit to MESSE ESSEN because of its proximity to the railway station and underground U11. The staff is very polite and welcoming. The room I got was very comfortable and pratical. The bathroom was very clean and practical, but one wishes more storage space on the side of the washbasin. The morning breakfast is excellent and […] worth the price. Room for improvement : At this level of price, WIFI acces should be included. The hotel corridors look dull and old. A redecoration with bright colors would benefit to the hotel style. The service in the restaurant in the evening was distinguished, but very slow. Overall, a good to very good impression. "Very convenient for 'transit' in Essen"
Chose the Movenpick Hotel due to it's proximity to the main railway station as we were travelling from Dusseldorf and on to Witten with an overnight stay in Essen to take in the Red Dot Museum at Zollverein (which was excellent). Our room on the 3rd floor was fine but we couldn't get the Air Conditioning to go lower than 19 degrees so the room was quite […] stuffy. We opened the windows but because the room was front-facing there was quite a lot of noise from the street below. The area in front of the hotel is unfortunately 'inhabited' by a posse of early/all-day drinkers who appear to use the adjacent subway underpass for a toilet. Obviously this is not the hotels fault but it does detract from the overall impression. The reception staff were friendly and spoke English but the girl on reception when we arrived seemed at a loss when asked to recommend somewhere to eat and/or have a beer. Perhaps they could be better trained-up on the local eateries? All in all I would recommend the Movenpick - but only if you need to be near the station like we did. "In the heart of the city."
I thought it was very good and would not hesitate to stay there again. Entry to train station just outside the door. Very easy access to the Essen Autotechnica which is why we were there. Just an over all pleasant experience ranging from the front desk, room, location and the attached bar. We did not dine there so can not speak of that.Avis véridique Hotels.com

"NOT a $ star at all."
I will never come back !!! The location is central but unsafe and surrounded by drunk and homeless people who are very aggressive. The sanitary standard around the hotel compound is awful, it smells like a public restroom. The Queen size beds only come with twin sheets, not international standard at all. Not even alarm clocks or any kind of time devices […] in the rooms, no IPad or music device either. The coffee in the lobby got removed over the weekend. So no coffee for people who are staying over the weekend then!! One telephone call to the US will be charged with $ 1.30 per minute. That is outrageous and not 2012 at all. Very rough towels and no cosmetic products but soap in the rooms. No bellman or any help offered while checking in. The hotel was opposite Essen Hbf. Around the corner was the start of the shopping pedestrian district. The room looked like it had been recently renovated. The bathroom was well laid out. The windows were large. The room had enough space, as there was a table, an area for suitcases, a large closet (although I did not need it). If I was to stay in Essen […] again I would stay here. Service was reasonable if abrupt. Assistance was provided when requested, but was not offered spontaneously. The rooms were clean, but extremely dated. The Internet access was disastrous. It was so slow as to be unworkable for even emails. The management's response was to sign up for the even more expensive service. I loved the location of this hotel. Literally right across the street from the main train station and in the middle of the city center and shopping. The rooms are large and comfortable as are the bathrooms. The daily breakfast featured many items. Et helt greit sentrumsnært hotell - verken mer eller mindre. Ettersom vi bestilte gjennom hotels.com var ikke frokost inkludert og det ville de ha EUR 19,- pr dag pr pers. På 3 døgn ville det blitt EUR 114,- ekstra for oss 2... Nett kostet også ekstra, de fylte ikke opp minibar og fakturerte derfor dobbelt da de mente vi hadde tatt det samme neste dag. Hotellet är ett typiskt tyskt 4-stjärnigt hotell. Ett hotell med ett antal år på nacken, men väl underhålet och i gott skick, om man kan bortse från "80-tals inredningen", dock skall sägas att matsalen var nyrenoverad i mycket smakfull stil. ... Zimmer im 5. Stock sehr laut. Bis nach 2.00 Uhr nachts ein Wummern und Klopfen von den Waschmaschinen und Wäschetrocknern, die in den benachbarten Servicezimmern liefen.
