"Lovely hotel close to the beach"
The Westminster Hotel was very welcoming and well placed on the Promenade des Anglais within easy walking distance of the old town. The restaurant has a lovely terrace overlooking the beach and attentive and knowledgeable staff. We were served sea bass, which was the special, and were very pleased with it. Buses to the airport stop almost outside the […] hotel. A real plus was the air conditioning in our room. I would definitely stay there again. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
"Will recommend it"
Nice hotel, comfortable room, old building but full of character. The lift is super slow. There wasn't a shower in our room, it caused a lot of inconvenience. Some helpful staff at the reception, but there was a rude member of staff- Brigitte.Avis certifié Expedia
"Nice hotel but beware hidden extras"
Good points: Great location Balcony Very comfortable bed Hotel full of character Free wifi Most reception staff helpful and speak good English Bad points: Avoid Brigitte at the reception, rude and needs training No shower in the superior room despite advertising shower facility Private beach very expensive- €25 per person per day Breakfast very expensive- […] €20 for buffet and €9 for continental Only one very slow lift which is also used by staff Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
"Not what it's cracked up to be"
The location of this hotel is nice and has a front row seat to the promenade. The outdoor terrace is a perfect view for sipping some champagne. The overall aesthetic of the hotel is pleasant as well. The downsides to our experience were that the staff seemed very unenthused about interacting, fairly cool reception when interacting with the reception […] desk staff, which is annoying when you spend your hard earned money there. We had to go inside to get anyone to serve us on the terrace which is also a flop on the hotel part when you're willing to spend quite a bit on some of the delicious Taittinger they offer. There was also multiple pieces of hair in the bathroom on surfaces so you didn't get the feeling it was well cleaned. Thin doors and so hallway noise was more audible than usual compared to other hotels. Construction was going in the hotel on our floor around 8 a.m., so that was disruptive if you were trying to sleep. I can't recommend this hotel because of the latter reasons. Trying to be fair by citing some of the good things about the hotel in the beginning of my review. However, I travel extensively and a pretty large sample to judge this against - acknowledging that it is indeed an opinion. You could probably find better with a little more homework though. Above all, the service of the staff here is first class. They really look after you. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the location excellent. The beach club is also nice with good quality lunch.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Room with amazing view."
We had one of the Superior rooms with a balcony with a sea view....and what a view it was. You probably get the best view of the promenade from this hotel as you an see either end of the beach. Hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating. The bathroom is really clean and with marble finish. The hotel is in great location and has a lot of charm […] to it. "A very good experience"
It was so nice staying in this property. The front office was very helpful. We had some issue in the shower area. At our request, the front office manager immediately arranged us a shower curtain so that we could use the bath room in dry condition.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Great Location on the Promenade."
I was there for a one week vacation. I lucked into being there for Bastille Day as well, which meant a parade, live bands and beach front fireworks. They closed the main road between the hotel and beach for the parade in the late afternoon/early evening, and set up several stages with different live bands every couple of blocks and for the fireworks […] after sunset. Took a nice half day tour to a winery and Village of St. Paul de Vence. Given the hotel's status, price and Nice being an international destination, I thought the guest services staff would have been more fluent in English. I know I was in France, but I am sure many of their guests, besides me, have limited French skills beyond a few words and phrases. Also, make sure to request a room with a shower that has a curtain, or glass door or divider. Old Towne had plenty of restaurants, which most had full bar service, but not seats at the bar. I only found a few bars that had seats and served decent food. Recommendations and Acknowledgements Food, service and wine was good at the Opera House restaurant in Old Towne. If you like jazz, go to Shapko's in Old Towne on Thursday through Saturday nights for live jazz and drinks. Their waitress, Sara was great. Ma Nolan's Irish Pub, also in Old Towne was a great spot as well for bar food, drinks and watching sports. They also had a server named Sara that was terrific. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
Very good hotel and staff. Let down only by a shower designed to flood the bathroom which had no floor drain. Result was smell of rotting wood door frames. Be aware that if in rooms x04 or x05 or x06 (far right of hotel), then you will be awoken at 6 am each morning by the emptying of the bottle bank directly below your window. This area consumes at […] of bottled liquids! Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia

"Best hotel on the Promenade at an excellent price"
This hotel was excellent. It has the old world charm, high ceiling, ornate ballrooms, lovely lobby and entryway. The breakfast was full English, included in room price. We had a sea view at a fraction of the cost of the other well known hotels on the Promenade. The rooms were modern and well equipped, modern bathrooms. But the best part of this hotel […] was the service. They were so nice and accommodating to us arriving at midnight and then finding us a room (when they were fully booked) when travel plans extended us an extra night. They had a computer and printer available in the business center. This was my favorite hotel of our 2 week, 6 hotel trip. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Hotel close to the beach and restaurants"
This hotel is right across the street from the beach (there are no hotels on the beach) and in a great location Although I made the reservation months in advance and paid the required non refundable room charge for the 5 nights, when we got there we were informed that our sea view room was unavailable for that night and we would have to stay in a city […] view room. In return, we were upgraded to a sea view " suite" for the other four nights. Unfortunately,, our upgraded room was on the first floor and the traffic and people noise did not die down until 1 or 2 in the morning. I would recommend that you ask for a higher floor room if noise is an issue for you or skip the sea view rooms altogether. The upgrade was nice but hard to understand why our room was not avaliable after reserving and prepaying in advance. The way it was handled by the manager could have seemed rude to some but I assumed it was just a culture difference. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
"If service isn't your main concern."
This hotel has very nice large rooms and a good location on the beach and very close to good restaurants and small local shops. Service is lacking but I am not above toting my own luggage. Experienced better service in Paris for the money.Avis certifié Hotels.com

"Close to the beach, airport and Nice old town"
I went to Nice for a long weekend with a friend. We had a lovely time. Beware that the cost of breakfast at hotel is high at 30 Euros and that you can get a full English in a restaurant nearby for 10 Euros. Also website is misleading because it says private beach but you have to pay to go on the beach, just the same as everyone else.Avis certifié Expedia

"Too far to get transportation to see the sights"
Took 3 days to fix the air condition, they told us apparently the whole floor was having problems cause previous people that checked out had complained too. So the problem should have been taken care of then not wait till we get there. We booked 3 rooms on that floor. For what we paid for it should of been more accommodating. The French could careless […] about the American people. They don't have to worry about us coming back. They don't acknowledge kindness. We also were told we were not allowed on the terrace of restaurant cause it was reserved for a party. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Old nice fashionable hotel, well maintained, but still seems old. Difficult with children trolley up the first stair, and into dining room. Missing some featuers like gym, and pool. Breakfast 20 Eur, the money is better spent at a backery next door. Fantastic location.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"A perfect place to stay in Nice"
Overall, the hotel exceeded all our expectations. The hotel was beautiful inside and out. We specifically requested a room on the upper floor with a city view to avoid any potential noise/traffic that you may hear if facing the waterfront. Our room had a large window with a gorgeous view overlooking the town with mountains in the background. The room […] was very comfortable and quiet. The hotel staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They provided great recommendations for our side trips (Cannes, Antibes, Eze, Monte Carlo, St Paul de Vince, San Remo) with all the specifics of how to best get there and what to see and do. Alf and a staff member from Italy (forgot his name!) at the front desk were very helpful! Overall, we couldn't have asked for better accommodations and look forward to staying at Westminster when we visit Nice in the future. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia

Staff extremely polite and spoke English very well.....my French was terrible, but they did not laugh or be unkind. Breakfast buffet was fantastic and the service was superior. Perfect location! Accessible by bus 98 Congress stop. Along the Promenade beach. A little bit dated but still grand! Construction ongoing during our visit so a bit noisy! Very reliable lady Sissy, receptionist! Not happy with night male receptionists, too grim and serious, too busy talking at night! But still recommend! Not happy with breakfast buffet, […] but this is optional at 15 Euros! Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
The staff were excellent, the location wonderful and great weather helped. Rooms at the side of the hotel a bit noisy from street sounds, but not a problem. Good, refurbished room with all we needed. Good selection at breakfast, although the hot food was cold which was a shame. Public areas could do with some redecoration and updating, as they looked […] a bit tired, but the stairs and hallways have clearly been done so maybe the reception and bar areas will be next. "Great Location a little shabby around the edges"
Wonderful location on the Promenade d Anglais, no one to open the door or help with luggage and not the best customer service, but not bad either, seemed hit or miss with who I talked to. The elevator is very, very slow. The room as exceedingly clean, and spacious by european standards. They also have electric rolladons (the exterior blackout curtains) […] which is great if you want to have a late morning start! There where a couple areas of the room that had barely peeling or chipped paint, it would be easy to fix and greatly improve the appearance. The bed and linens were great! "What a great choice!"
The most impressive thing about our stay at the Hotel Westminster was the discounted rate we paid, which, for a large room in a four-star hotel on the promenade, was pretty astonishing. We could hardly have improved on the location or the "feel" of the place, and each of our single rooms was pretty large. The only real criticism relates to a very leaky […] and inconvenient shower, although perhaps some attention could be paid to the condition of the lift, and to the quality of the scrambled egg! "Excellent-- especially breakfast!!!"
I enjoyed my stay here very much and would recommend it to anyone. The price was too high for an ocean-view room but I was not in the room enough to care that I didn't have one. "Wonderful return visit"
The hotel is just as lovely as it was on my last visit two years ago. The staff could not have been kinder nor more helpful. An added bonus this time was a long chat with one of the owners who is passionate about preserving the history of the hotel. The porter was incredibly helpful in getting a taxi after the airport bus went on strike.Avis certifié Hotels.com

We really enjoyed our stay, we booked a sea view with a balcony which meant we could sit outside and enjoy the view in the sunshine. It is an old style French Hotel which would have been magnificent 50 or a hundred years ago and still retains its charm and beauty to this day. Buses pass outside the Hotel, including to and from the Airport but The Old […] Town is within walking distance as is the main Station so it is a good base to stay in order to explore the City. The drink prices may seem a bit steep but the cosy Bar is a nice place to relax after exploring Nice or a trip further up the Riviera. Peter Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
"Fantastic views of the promenade"
Our second stay in the Westminister, great location and really lucky to get the added advantage of having the Carnival pass straight by. The staff are really helpful and extremely pleasant. "Fabulous view over the Med, bit noisy with view."
Very good old style grand hotel in a great location. Some needed renovations going on but staff excellent and facilities good. We like generally older hotels with character and this one delivers well. Amazing marble staircase !!Wi-fi was a bit intermittent depending on area of hotel but at least fairly fast and free. Great dining room and also bar and […] terrace overlooking Prominade Des Anglias which as expected is busy and noisy. Fabulous view on ocean side. Our room was basic but adequate and well compensated by the view. Easy walking distance to old town, port area and train station. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
"Great hotel with a few improvements suggestions"
Great hotel with 1920 Belle Époque atmosphere ! Had a room on the 3rd floor with a full view of the Mediterranean see!!! You have to ask in advance when reserving the room for a high floor and a balcony!! We asked and we got it! Large room and beautiful marble bathroom! Great staff - wifi in the room free! Don't be scared of rooms in front - the windows […] once they are closed you cannot hear any noise from outside! The few areas that I have to mentioned: carpet in the room was a bit tired and dirty, the bathtub was missing a glass or curtain so there was a bit of mess after showers and breakfast was a bit steep ($20€/person) ! Otherwise a great hotel in a great location! Btw you can take bus 98 to and from the airport for much cheaper than the taxis!!! Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com

Must have been wonderful 50 years ago but desperately needs refurbishing.
