"Unique location with comfort."
This IS the close encounter with ´La Perla del Levante´ (poetic name for Venezia (Venice, that is)). The jade green-blue Laguna meets the buttress of the hotel´s low terrace, where you can enjoy your solid spumante-breakfast while beeing entertained by the lively and colourfull commotion on the glittering waters... - yes, that´s how it is, folks! The […] service is more than good: beeing served a free 14 years old malt whisky for just having to wait a bit for your room beeing cleaned is far above the sometimes shorthand-like Venetian way. And even if your room is not a ´laguna-room´ (as mine was), you have a feeling of luxury and of a stay close to the waters. So all in all, this ´quatro stelle´ (four stars) and uniquely located hotel can give you a very pleasant stay, also as an easy and great entrance to the treasures of Venice (Venezia, that is). "Incredible deal in Venice!"
Simply the best. Best linens, best service, best view, best location best breakfast.
"Hotel in Venice"
The Monaco Hotel in Venice was near perfict....Clean, great location on the water and steps from St. Marks square....Water taxi serrvice next door...we took a water taxi from the airport and never had to touch our bags. I wouldn't consider another hotel in Venice.
"Incredibly well-located"
Easy to find. Simply walk out of your door and you are steps away from St. Mark's Square. And, even though our room was just a floor above a heavily-traveled pedestrian path, we were never disturbed by outside noises (and my husband liked to sleep late in the mornings).
"Monaco and Grand Hotel Venice"
We were delighted with this hotel. The location was perfect and the canal-side outdoor restaurant was fabulous. We had breakfast there every day, watching the gondoliers prepare their gondolas. Food was excellent and we ate one night in their restaurant (expensive). Although our twin room was small, the large modern bathroom was fabulous and the lighting […] first class. Thoroughly clean every day - and even linen sheets. Right by the Piazza San Marco, it was ideal for sightseeing. I can't wait to return! Lisez la suite
"Hotel Monaco and Grand Canal Venice"
Excellent hotel but don't be fooled into going for the breakfast inclusive rate. Breakfast was literally a couple of bread rolls and preserves unless you wanted to purchase something from the menu.
"Umm so so ..."
Well the location was awesome if your goal is to check out the Piazza of San Marco and do some shopping nearby. Certainly catching the waterbus from the airport would be the most cost effective and also convenient. Don't pay for an arm and a leg for the water taxi if you're not in the rush. This hotel was very close to where the bus stops. Overall image […] of the hotel was great. The hallway stunk of fish a bit. And the room we stayed in didn't have a great view but that's not a problem. The only thing we didn't like about our room was it seemed dirty, not messy, but dirty. If you're into cleanliness in a hygienic (microscopic) kinda way, then this is not the place you'd choose. The sheets of the bed was rough on the skin ... I don't even think it was more than 100 counts of thread hahaha. For over 230 euros ... not worth it. So hunt carefully for a good comfortable and clean hotel for us clean freaks out there!!! Hotel staff was great, nice outdoor patio overlooking gondalas.
"Hotel Monaco and Grand Canal...stay elsewhere"
Of my 20 days in Europe and my second time in Venice, this hotel is at the bottom of my list. The location is close to St Marks Square and the restaurant is located on the canal with a great view...those are the positives. Some of the front desk staff are friendly, but our check in was so terrible that it started us off badly. The room we received had […] such stained carpet that I didn't want to remove my shoes in the room. The breakfast that was included in the room rate consisted of a basket of bread, coffee and orange juice. Of all the choices you have in Venice, there are many much better choices for the price. "Hotel Monaco and Grand Canal"
A pleasant hotel, staff was fluent in English, helpful and polite. I did not get a chance to eat at the restaurant there however, but the view from there was spectacular. I got to see it on the taxi ride in and several times during my stay. I was usually too busy walking around and eating at various restaurants in the area. There are nearby shops for […] clothing, the main square is within a 1 minute walk. If you are coming back after hours though ( I believe they close the doors at 2300 ) then you need to hit a buzzer on the sign which is not obvious if you aren't looking for it and I was not told about it at all during check in, which would have been helpful. My friend had a minor glitch where someone at the restaurant had room charged 3 bottles of wine to his room, but it was cleared up after several minutes without major issue. The staff was a bit disbelieving that he had not ordered it himself, but the maitre'd was asked and verified that we had not eaten there. Once that was done, aside from that one problem all else was fine. Just make sure that if you plan to truly enjoy Venice at all, you had better plan on spending some serious cash, because everything has a fee, and prices are not cheap, although they are cheaper than Rome. It is a confusing city to get around in, especially after some wine, so buy a map early on. Lisez la suite

"Best Bang for Your Buck in Venice"
Just a stone's throw from Piazza San Marco, minutes away from the San Marco Alilaguna water bus (lineas blu, rosso, and oro to/from Marco Polo airport), and next door to Harry's Bar, sits the incomparable Monaco and Grand Canal. Built on the grand canal, you enter through an elegant doorway off the Calle Vallaresso into a 17th century palazzo and it's […] now modern glass covered colonnaded atrium to find the black tiled receptionist desk encased in glass. The hotel offers rooms in 3 different areas (recently remodeled rooms, the regular rooms and rooms in a nearby location). The price includes continental breakfast at the terrace restaurant overlooking the grand canal and the Punto Della Dogama museum (a must see) across the canal - a spectacular place to eat. You may order other breakfast items or ask for breakfast in bed at an additional charge. I stayed in an older room on the 3rd floor with a spot-lighted wood beam ceiling rising to about 12 feet. The room shows a few signs of expected wear and tear but overall for the price, room size, comfort, room amenities, large bathroom and cleanliness, you won't find a better room in Venice. Although not overly friendly, the entire staff promptly attended to my every request and need in a very professional manner. The concierge went out of his way to show me how to get to various points of interest throughout the city. My only minor complaint or rather suggestion to the hotel management is to relocate and modernize the hotel bar. The present bar tucked away to the side, appears dated, too small and secluded, and unappealing to enjoy a 15 euro ($18 US) cocktail. It should be hip with modern decor that matches the lobby and plays lounge music. I'd put it either in the area next to the atrium (with the door opening up to the side canal, leaving the door always open, or in the hallway leading up to the grand ballroom). I highly recommend the Metropole Hotel's bar for the vibe, ambiance and great drinks. Lisez la suite
"on the canal and close to St Marks"
location is the best thing bout htis hotel. breakfast outside directly on the canal was very special. room was unremarkable but typical for Europe. But air conditioning was totally ineffectiv eand opening windows was difficult only because of the noise outside
"Hotel Monaco and Grand Canal - good location"
The only thing this hotel has going for it is it's good location but the attitude of the staff left a lot to be desired. The staff at the front desk was extremely impatient and would not answer even one question. They acted as if they were doing us a favor by giving us a room to stay. On our check-in, they asked for our passports but would not return […] it forthwith stating that they need to retain it to provide information to the police authorities. This was the only hotel in Italy that held on to our passports for over 2 hours at the front desk while every other hotel in Italy (we stayed at 3 other hotels durng our trip to Italy all of whom promptly entered our passport information for the purpose of the authroities and returned our passports forthwith). The manner in which everyone's passposrts were left lying around on the front desk did not evoke any sense of confidence. when asked when we would get our passports back, they would not even clearly say when I would get it back. There are many other hotels in the vicinity that are as centrally located and hopefully would have a much friendly and custoemr oriented staff. Lisez la suite
"Great Hotel"
Perfect location, staff very helpful. Look forward to staying at this hotel again.
"Wonderful hotel in a wonderful city"
My husband and I chose this hotel after happening upon it on the Internet. After seeing photos of the location we were convinced, and the hotel didn't disappoint. Everything about our stay was excellent. The staff was courteous and helpful, the decor was fresh and new, and the included Continental breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal […] was the high point of our visit to Italy. I recommend it highly. Lisez la suite
"Beautiful view-right on the Grand Canal"
The hotel has easy access from the water taxi and is close to the vaporetto. Everything is in walking distance once your here and St Mark's Square is just around the corner. (It can be rather expensive to just sit down and have a drink in the square so be prepared. But hey, that's Venice! Enjoy the atmosphere!) Daily charge for internet service.
"not recommended"
great location, bad customer service. The concierge wasn't helpful or pleasant. Our bags were not delivered to our room at checkin. The shower head was pins and needles and the bathtub drain didn't work right. Only one electrical outlet worked. Couldn't ever get ready in the bathroom. Very overpriced for the room quality we received.

"Monaco & Grand Canal -hotelli Venetsiassa"
Tyylikäs hotelli, joka sijaitsee kätevästi Grand Canalin varrella. Laivalaiturit aivan vieressä, taksiveneellä pääsee suoraan hotellin terassille. Moitteita saavat hintaan nähden pieni hotellihuone ja kivikovat tyynyt.
