Mercure Auckland - Auckland

Being in the heart of Downtown Auckland, with a busstop right outside the door and trains right next door, meant we could park our car (hotel valet parking) and forget about getting around. Easy access to everywhere. Only 10 mins into Newmarket by bus. Safe surrounds and friendly, helpful staff. Will stay next time we want a few days in the city.

I stayed at the Mercure Hotel, Customs Street for a week. The hotel rooms are all built around the thre lifts which go through the centre of the hotel and are very noisy. I had a room at the back of the hotel which on most nights was very noisy due to late night party revelers returning home far from sober. On booking in I choose to use the Internet service and booked it for a week @ $80 stated rate, halfway through the week I had a pot up which said I would incur extra charges as I had exceed the size of downloads within that price (it was in VERY small print). As I was staying there on business some of my emails and downloads were fairly large. On booking out I was presented with an internet bill of $190. On compalining the receptioist said it was outside their control and part of their internet providers rates. I travel regularly all over the world and told them I had never been presented with excess charges anywhere else beore and would not be staying withthem again both because of the noisy rooms and the final straw the huge internet bill. This hotel was a great deal. If you have a train to catch the next morning at 6am, like I did, this is the place to stay. It's located within 2 blocks of Britomart, so though maybe not a particularly cute neighborhood, it's extremely convenient and it's easy to walk out to other areas or to good restaurants. Great location. Rooms a bit old and mattress could be firmer though

The hotel is located perfectly for eating out and getting to the Viaduct and other tourist locations in Auckalnd. The hotel is reasonably priced, but the internet seems expensive. The staff is friendy and helpful. I tried to call reception with questions on 2 seperate occasions and no one answered the phone, otherwise the service was great.

Mercure Hotel was very close to the via duct harbour and also in walking distance to the sky tower. Staff were very helpful in giving information and directions. I thought $32 for breakfast was very expensive. But there were many cafes near by.

Excellent location, really good views, good front desk help. But $29 a day for internet really soured the experience.

Parking is impossible around the hotel so you will have to do vallet. It is $40 a day and not $30 as indicated online. They act very inconvenienced about getting your car for you more than once/day. We like to come and go as we please throughout the day and it just doesn't work at this hotel. Upon checkout they simply gave us our keys and told us where […] the car was parked. They couldn't have it brought to the front of the hotel. It was in a little alley next door with about 4 inches to slide in through the door. No concierge service at all. The employees at the front desk cannot and will not offer any advice or assistance with anything. Internet service is a joke. Good location at least. Cheap and Easy to get to and from the public transport.. Made my stay a memorable one! Thanks Mercure hotel.. Will definately stay again!!

I arrived at 6am from the Cook Islands, assuming I'd have to wait until after midday to get into my room. Thankfully the top chap at reception nipped upstairs to confirm that my room was already ready, which he said he thought so but wasn't sure. As a result I got into my room at around 7am thanks to his excellent customer service. The location is […] excellent for the city centre and the overall comfort of the room was good. Stayed one night on our travels - very nice Motel - only one negative is that we were charged $30 to park car which we were not advised of at the time of booking thru internet. The lady who looked after us and our luggage was so helpful and really nice. Good location right in heart of city and nice view from our room.

Situated close to the bus/train station, easy access to airport. Close also ro harbour where ferries are and makes sightseeing a breeze. Close to eateries and shops . Really convenient and hotel facilities are good for travellers and holiday seekers.

This hotel is clean, efficient and perfectly situated at the bottom of Queen Street. Close to everything. The bed is very comfortable and the room is well serviced (although they forgot to replenish the tea/coffee necessities in my room). Internet access was a bit up and down.

Spent three nts here post-cruise and really enjoyed it. Great location. Restaurant a bit formal/pricey....but plenty of restaurants around the harbour, about a 5 minute walk and a great coffee shop across the street. Just a couple of minutes walk to a Gray Line tour office. Staff is very helpful and knowledgable.

The staff was mostly very freindly, however they did get a little hectic and were not as friendly around check-out time. Room was nice and the breakfast was much better than many hotels. The location is perfect!! It would be nice if they had a few more connections for local tours, wine tasting, etc.

We stayed at the Mercure the day we flew in from the US. It was a pleasant surprise for the price we paid. It is right by the wharf and the downtown scene. Everything was in walking distance. We enjoyed the large room and partial water view. If possible request a high floor level, you will have great view of the wharf if on the water side. This hotel is in a great location if you like the night life of Auckland. There are lots of bars and restaurants close by along the viaduct. Or you can easily catch a green Link bus outside the door up to Parnell for shopping or dining or catch the ferry from the wharf across to Waiheke Island for the day. The hotel itself is clean and not too noisey […] if you get the right room. We found the lady on check-in wasn't very friendly or helpful.The restaurant has great views of the city and harbour, but the food was fairly average for the price. The hotel was in a great location. close to everything. The room was clean but the air conditioning did not work properly. Brochure and ads for the hotel state there is a remote control for the air conditioning to set the temperature to your desires....in fact there is only one control on the unit and despite setting to the coolest temperature it was […] still hot, hot, hot. Big Hotel, very close to Britomart station (train e buses) and one step to the beggining of Queen St. major shopping strip of auckland. The staff was very helpful and hotel conditions are satisfactory.

Some crowd noise on the first of my four nights but otherwise very comfortable and very well located.

The hotel was very clean and the staff very polite and efficient. Our room was large and had two large, very comfortable double beds. The hotel was right in the centre of the city, next door to the travel centre (where you can get information about buses, trains etc). The port was only a few minutes walk away, so it was easy to get advice on ferries […] to different islands, harbour cruises etc. There were lots of shops, bars and restaurants in the area around the hotel so it was very convenient. When we arrived the room was quite cold and the heater was not working very well. Once it did start working it was very, very noisy. On our way out to sight-see we mentioned it to the staff, but they initially did not really offer us any help. When we came back that afternoon, we mentioned it again to the manager, and he came to look at it within a […] half hour and promptly switched us to an upgraded room. The decor of the rooms is a bit dated with an old TV set and the reception staff are a bit robotic, but otherwise I can't fault this hotel for exceptional value when you consider it's location directly opposite the transport centre in Auckland city centre. I got an excellent room with a comfortable bed for a very cheap price from hotels.com at this hotel. I wish I could get this much for the money everywhere I go.

Everything met my expectations. Hotel is centrally located and is of an exceptional monetary value to the traveller. Room was very clean and spacious. We were also told that we had been upgraded, and that was a nice asset as well. Will definitely stay there again and can recommend the hotel to other travellers without hesitation.

We came across this hotel as it was a "pop up" while on Trade Me. We needed accommodation in Auckland to connect with a P & O Cruise. Was really reasonably priced and everything about the hotel was great. Were really pleased and would definitely stay again. Thank you!

Nice location and friendly staff. However, the bathrooms were not very well cleaned and the air-condition in the room is very loud, hard to sleep with it on. But as I said, nice location and friendly staff, also a very good breakfast buffet.

Das Hotelzimmer ist extrem Zentral gelegen. Nur ein paar Schritte von der Queenstreet und dem Warf entfernt. Ganz oben befindet sich ein tolles Restaurant, welches auch schon renoviert worden ist. Der Service an der Rezeption war super. Wenn man Aktivitäten oder einen Shuttel zum Flughafen buchen möchte, wird gern geholfen. Das Gepäck wurde ohne Probleme […] für mehrere Stunden verstaut (aber auf eigene Gefahr).. Die Zimmer sind klein und Zweckmäßig, aber sauber. Die Klimaanalge bei voller Leistung laut. Hotel ligt perfect,alles in de buurt op loopafstand en om de hoek van trein en busstation. Hotel entree prachtig,kamers en gangen boven erg gedateert en moeten nodig opgeknapt worden,maar ook in deze staat geweldig goed verblijf gehad. hotel com otima localizaçao, funcional e com quartomuito confortavel.Com lojas e cafes em frente e a um pulo da est de ferry boat para passeios pela baia.Altamente recomendavel.

De modo geral, o hotel é muito bom, a localização é excelente e o atendimento é satisfatório. Só acho que deveria melhorar o estacionamento e os banheiros faltam duchas melhores, mas é super limpo. Recomendaria sem medo este hotel aos que desejam tranquilidade e conforto.
