Clarion Inn & Suites and Conference Center - Monroe

I booked a room here for my daughter's birthday. She had a slumber/swimming party. It was the best party she ever had. The indoor pool was great. In addition to the indoor pool, the ammenities also included a hot tub, game room, ping pong tables and shuffleboard, so the kids had plenty to do. Great appearance but hotel seems to be run down. Bethroom was a mess with maintenance issues, floortiles in rest room and trim around tub was nasty, curtains covered A/C.

Our first room before being moved wasn't cleaned at all! There was an unwrapped, half eaten Granola bar at the bedside table, Animal cookies on the carpet and hair in the bathroom floor and stains on the toilet tank and lid. We did get moved to a bigger room. However, I killed 3 bugs or insects in that room in one night. The next morning, I woke up […] with bites. The continental breakfast was a joke! Our last hotel which cost less per night had a fantastic Continental breakfast. The worst experience was when we were 3 hrs away from Monroe, my daughter realized that her apple notebook charger was still plugged in, at the hotel room. We made an expensive call from our Canadian cell phone and was told by the front desk that housekeeping will check for us and call us back. After half an hour , we ended calling back when they haven't called yet. We were then told that "Oh, we got the wrong room #", but don't bother calling back. So, again, it's we check and call you back. No callback AGAIN. So, we had to call again. Imagine the cost on the roaming fees! We ask that they check again because they can't seem to find it. Again, we'll call you back but that didn't happen. Three expensive calls and still nothing. We ended up having to buy a new charger that costed us $86. Clarion should reimburse me for the charger. It's there but nobody bother to even check. I'm sure of it because half the time nobody is at the desk whenever you need them. Lisez la suite

Didn't know it was a "Motel" where you drive up to your door until I got there. I don't feel safe in those places. But, at least they did have a Police officer in the parking lot all night. My guess is there's a reason! Don't know which was built first the train track or the hotel. But, somebody made a really bad decision! I was awakened at least 4 […] times by the train horn. And, it's really close and loud! The condition of the hotel was decent. It was clean and the people at the desk were polite. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. No wifi, but they had a chord for the free wired internet. The price was cheap. But, if I had it to do over I would stay somewhere farther away from the train crossing! Lisez la suite

Great staff and great food in the restaurant. Hotel needs some work done it. Not bad for the price but there are better ones in the area for the price. The idiot pool and hot tub are nice to have though.

I liked this hotel for the most part. The walls are thin though so everyone could hear my 3 small children & me getting on to them :/ The restaurant in it wasn't great but the indoor pool was am awesome feature. It did not have a mini fridge or microwave which was a disadvantage & the double beds are somewhat small--like oversized twin beds. They were […] comfortable though. The La Quinta was next door & just as nice. Also, the La Quinta reviews included a train that ran all night & was loud---I never heard a train & the two hotel's parking lots were connected, that's how close they were. I liked it but I expected more from a 3 star hotel. Also, the neighborhood down the street was not somewhere you want to be at night. I was afraid to get out of my car at the Valero station down the road. The other side was nice though & it was close to downtown & the zoo & Pecanland mall. Only real problem we had was finding it on the gps. The address takes you to a tire place down the road. Either go to the La Quinta & the Clarion is next door, or turn on Renwick off of 165 & go right, Clarion will be on your left after the big yellow La Quinta. Lisez la suite

After reading other's reviews, I decided to stay at this hotel. I was a little displeased with the cleanliness of my room. Room service made the bed with candy wrappers left under the fitted sheet. The ceiling was extremely dusty. There were dust webs hanging from the ceiling that could have easily been cleaned with a broom. The carpet also had a musty […] smell. The bathroom was pleasantly clean. With the exception of the tub floor which seemed a little filthy. I actually showered in my flip flops. I ordered room service which guaranteed service in 30 minutes. My food took about an hour; the hot wings I order were not fully done according to my standards. The hamburger was delicious! The hotel is right near the train tracks. Other reviews expressed feelings about the train. I though, how bad could it be? I was extremely loud. And it seemed to pass every 2 hours. Many times it startled me in my sleep. If I had to stay in Monroe, LA again, I would probably stay in a different hotel. Lisez la suite

I remeber when this hotel was Holiday Inn, the holidome, Now clarion Inn. The indoor pool area use to have a beautiful waterful inside, and when I returned after all these years it was not there. it didnt look as good as it use to. The ceilings need to be redone over the pool area and I would expect the Hotel Check In clerks to look more professional. […] The severs looked more professional than the people at the front desk.
