The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa - Scottsdale

The hotel was central to many activities and great restaurants. There's a dessert bar in the evenings in the hotel lobby which is a great tasty end to an evening out. One thing to be aware of: There was a resort charge (in addition to the hotels.com payment) of $25 a day that was added to my bill. That seemed a little sneaky to me. beautiful resort for families with nice children's pools. very comfortable rooms with large bathrooms. price is high but felt we got what we paid. many restaurants within walking distance. would consider returning.

Our family stayed there for four nights. We requested a double room but were given a single upon arrival. The front desk was very helpful and resolved the situation quickly. We usually stay at the Fairmont but this weekend it was all booked up. I was excited to try the Westin because it is a beautiful hotel, but after a 7.5 hour drive we checked into our room which wasn't what we were told it would be when we confirmed our accomidations on the phone. We had specifically asked for a room that would accomidate our 2 kids, […] so it needed either 2 beds or 1 bed with a pullout couch. The 1st room only had 1 bed & no where for the kids to sleep, the 2nd room had 2 beds but the A/C did not work and we had the view and noise of the roof top. If we were to do it again we would have just paid less for a standard room. It was hard to drag the kids back and forth at midnight. Lisez la suite

Very, Very nice modern resort hotel. All the amenities with great (expensive) dining and friendly attentive staff. The Westin does push and try to sell you its version of the timeshare/vacation package for its family of resorts.

Beautiful hotel...very friendly...comfy bed...good food..near shopping We were here in December and were disappointed with the weather...it was so cold. We expected warm weather and it was in the 50s during the day and 30s at night. Of course that's not th hotels fault but put a damper on our activities. The staff was very friendly and very polite.

My family of 4 adults had a wonderful stay over hanksgiving. The heated pools and warm temperatures allowed us to swim everyday. We also also used the indoor fitness room and spa amenities with the wonderful whirlpool, sauna and locker rooms included in the price of our room. We were walking distance ot Kierland Commons so we had access to great restaurants […] and shopping. Coffee shop (Starbucks) in the lobby was very convenient. The gym - NG. Tiny, older equipment, 2 bikes that were in constant use - no room to stretch or lift weights. Very disappointing by Westin standards.

As someone who works in the hospitality industry I will be the first to admit that with so many rooms things can sometimes go wrong. Unfortunately, this was such a bad experience there really is no excuse. Putting aside the rude and unhelpful attitude of the woman who checked us in and the extreme lack of staff by the pool (it took us over 20 mins […] to get a drink) I would say the worst part of this hotel is their follow up and inability to turn a guest in to one that would like to return. After one night in this hotel I noticed a few bug bites on my legs. I didnt think much of it until I woke up the next day with many more and my boyfriend had them on his back as well. We returned to Chicago Monday night after 2 nights in the main hotel. My boyfriend just so happened to have a regular checkup scheduled for the next day where he was informed by his doctor that they appeared to be bed bug bites. GROSS!! To make matters worse I have left a message with the Director of Housekeeping, tried the General Manager AND his secretary twice and recieved voicemails both times. I settled on talking to the front desk manager who was not all helpful and said he would have their Risk and Safety Department check the room and give me a call back...no "Im sorry this happened" no "Our apologies this has never happened before" nothing. After paying for a decent hotel for a nice weekend with my boyfriend I expect much more in terms of service. Afterall you are in the SERVICE industry. I have to say I will never stay here again and will probably think twice about staying at other Westin properties. Lisez la suite

This is by far one of the most beautiful resorts I've ever stay at and when I say "RESORT" I mean this hotel is the true definition of the word. Besides the staff being one of the best in the world, the grounds and hotel facilities were maintained to perfection. If you love golf, tennis, poolside pleasure, dining, and shopping this resort has it all. […] I went for a romantic getaway and this hotel delivered, but if you have kids this resort can exceed your needs as well. Loved this hotel and it's amenities. Will be returning and will recommend it to all our friends.

Overall the experience was good however the main restaurant was closed for some reason for a extended period and upon checkout they tried to hit me with an additional $25 a day resort services fee! Thye claimed it was on my reservation but when I produced the reservation and it was not there they removed the charge. Bait and switch!

Overall I was impressed with the resort. The beds are not very comfortable, but the rooms were nice. I would not recommend the restaurant Nellie Cashman's. The service was average, the menu overpriced, and the food was terrible.

Beautiful Hotel and very helpful, friendly staff! Rooms were very clean and up to date. Enjoyed all the options of things to do on the grounds. Only draw back would be that there is no free internet. You pay per day and the price was not disclosed until after I got the check out bill.

We are Phoenix residents so know all the area. We actually attended the hotel's grand opening 8 year ago and was impressed at the time.The hotel was having a summer "stay-cation" promotional for the HOT summer months. Having done a similar stay-cation at the Gainey Ranch Hyatt and the Desert Ridge JW Marriott Resort I would say the DR Marriott was the […] most fun. I think the Marriott's lazy river is far superior. The Westin is an awesome property and is located right across the street from Kierland Commons Shopping but we stayed a Saturday night and Sunday morning had to drive to a place for breakfast as all the eateries at Kierland or across the street at Scottsdale Quarter don't open until 11 am. We had eaten at Nellie Cashman's at the Westin for dinner the night before and the service was great but the food was sub-par. Would eat at one of the restaurants at Kierland Commons instead of the hotel. Have to say that I was disappointed by our stay- just didn't have the WOW factor and felt like the hotel had lost some of it's charisma with the economy maybe? Lisez la suite

Beautiful hotel and surroundings, great for the whole family, extremely clean rooms and main areas, kids loved the waterpark and all the planned activities. Walking distance to great restaurants and shopping in Scottsdale. What a beautiful resort. I wanted immediately to get married there upon walking into the lobby. But the only catch is that we got double charged at the hotel pool the day we checked out because we used a credit card, but they also charged our room account! Still having problems getting reimbursed, getting the runaround.

I have stayed at the Westin Kierland several times and have always enjoyed my time at the hotel. My visit this May was wonderful as always. This time I noticed an increased emphasis on customer service and a willingness by the staff to help with any and all requests. This Hotel is very nice and clean. However the staff there is very snooty and not friendly. For what I paid for our room I would have expected at least smiles on the staff's faces! We have stayed at this hotels previously and will do so again. It is a great hotel with everything you need within walking distance. The service was great with the exception of a waiter that left at the end of a shift without putting our order in and the conceirge not calling in a reservation. When arrived at room, was no room information: no menus, no events info, no minibar prices. Guest parking far away - walked in 114 degree heat. Valet Parking $25 + tip A DAY!! MUST PAY FOR INTERNET USAGE $12.95 PER COMPUTER!! Felt like they were alliance with the airlines-they charge for every little thing! Pools needed better cleaning-saw algae... Ammenities were great! Bed in the standard room is a double and I was expecting a queen. Room seemed rather small for a family of 4 but we didn't spend a lot of time in the room.

Everything was perfect as you would expect from a premium brand. Lovely grounds and room, good service. The food was all good too, however, the drinks and food at the pool were exceptionally overpriced. They do not allow you to bring in outside food or beverage, so you really get stuck there.
