Rydges on Swanston - Melbourne - Carlton

Très bonne situation, à 10 min à pied du gros centre d'activité touristique, ou à 1 min en tramway. L'arrêt est juste devant l'hôtel, et il y a en 1 toutes les 2 min environs. L'accueil est excellent et les chambres confortables. Il y a eu un problème d'évacuation dans la salle de bain, et le personnel nous a de suite placé dans une chambre de catégorie […] supérieure pour toute la durée de notre séjour. La salle de sport est fonctionnelle, la piscine et le jacuzzi sur le toit sont les bienvenus, et il y a un parking souterrain qui coute bien moins cher que si on gare notre voiture dans la rue... Good location, very clean and comfortable rooms. Close walk to Queen Vic Market and Lygon St restaurants. Tram stop just outside the hotel to travel to other parts of the city. Eateries & convenience stores just opposite. The hotel restaurant does not have too many options. The car parking was paid, $15 per night and the spaces very small and congested. […] Our big SUV had to be parked with lots of difficulty. But overall experience very good. Highly recommended. Comfortable hotel in excellent location to city and Carlton. Very spacious rooms which were good value for money

Our stay was quite pleasant. The room was comfortable and adequate to our needs. We enjoyed the open air pool and spa. Location is extremely convenient to Melbourne's attractions. Tram right out the front.

Rooms need upgrading with most of the furnishings & fittings far too old. Breakfast was a disappointing & boring (for the price you pay!!!) particularly being the Christmas holidays, there was nothing ‘special’. Reception staff were simply delightful, courteous & 'bubbly' and surely made you most welcome.

My husband and i were fortunate to have a refurbished room, thus everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. However, i cant say the same if we had been assigned to a non-refurbished room. The staff were courteous and helpful, in general.

Basically I expected more. At first I thought "this is nice" and the guy at the Reception desk was very helpful. When we got to our room there was an overwhelming bleach smell, which we very quickly learned was to try to mask the horrible mould smell in the bathroom. We spent the night in the room but the next morning we requested a room change, which […] the hotel staff were happy to arrange (it became quite obvious that this mould smell was no surprise to them). On our first morning I called the Reception desk to request to breakfast bowls and spoons so we could eat our weetbix. An hour later - no bowls, no spoons. So I went down to Reception to ask again and the very unhelpful girl told me to go into the restaurant and find them myself. I was really annoyed and to top it off, I couldn't actually find any bowls at all! Our second room had obviously been renovated as it was much nicer than our first room, but overall I wouldn't go back to Rydges on Swanston and I wouldn't recommend it. Lisez la suite

The front desk staff were very helpful. The room...well it is in need of an overhaul. The bathroom smelled.

Have stayed in Rydges motels in a number of Australian cities now. Always happy with service and rooms and that's why we selected to stay here. Everyone friendly and helpful and accommodation in great position...close to every place we wanted to go.

Rydges at swanston is an old building with old rooms and very small toilets which are very old as well. We stayed for two nights and after first night nothing was replaced for coffee/tea tray including milk. Rooms are reasonable size but again old. Overall I think this hotel shud be 3 or at the most 3.5 star and less expensive

I checked in for 4 days the room was small, there was rust in the bathroom, it smelt and the window didn’t open they changed me to another room opposite, it was no better after complaining to head office, they did much me it what could be classed as a 5 star room, but there was no plug in the bathroom, the lighting was very dim, and there was no window, […] and the air-condition didn’t work. For the price i paid you can get much better, i travel allot for my job and wont be staying with any ridges hotel again. Lisez la suite

It is with disappointment that I write about my recent experience at Rydges on Swanston hotel. The hotel requires extensive renovation. The lift is ancient and is slower than an arthritic tortoise, the rooms are an OK standard, but the walls are thin, so thin that we could hear every word being sung in the music being played at a function on the 4th […] floor. In addition, you can clearly hear the trams going past in the morning and the curtains and drapes need replacing. I was expecting alot more class from a Rydges hotel Lisez la suite

The hotel was noisy. They were not even able to provide a working kettle to our room. When I asked them to give me a different kettle, they said they don't have a kettle in working condition. I booked a executive room and the room was very ordinary. But the location is convenient and the staff were friendly.

Did not meet expectations. If you expect a Rydges hotel then stay somewhere else until after the renovations are completed. Bathrooms are totally substandard and should be gutted and redone in their current form.

Very happy with location, close to Lygon St and restaurants. Tram stop just outside, minutes from city centre. Room was spacious and clean but quite dated. Bathroom door wouldn't close. The location is the reason to choose this hotel. Service is as expected. The front desk is friendly and willing to help. However, the hardware is a bit worn out. The cleanness of housekeeping needs improvement.

great hotel.... great staff, good rooms.... close to everything yet not in the middle of all the hussle and bussle of the city. nice quiet hotel. good parking if needed and trams go right past the front door. they say its within walking distance from the markets but i dont recommend walking. way too many bags to walk back with....shopping is great! […] highly recommend this hotel. I have stayed at this hotel a number of times as I love the location. The restaurant and bar are also first class. However, the room we had this time was particularly showing its age, especially in the bathroom. It was definitely not 4.5 stars as advertised, nor boutique. Room servicing was also sloppy on this visit which I have not experienced before. […] The shower recess had mould in the grout. I know the hotel is starting to renovate but basic cleanliness in the bathrooms should not rely on the bathroom being new. I will think twice about staying here again until the whole hotel is renovated. It's a pity as I go to Melbourne regularly on business. good and covenient

We found the location to the CBD within easy walking distance from this Motel. There are also plenty of trams right outside the door that will also take you there. The rooms were older style but clean and had all that we needed. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly especially in the breakfast dining room. Would stay there again.

Biggest bonus about this hotel is the proximity to Lygon St and the great restaurants there. Apart from that the saty was pretty average, if I were an out of towner Id try to book something closer to central Melbourne (might well still be on Swanston St). Our room had a door to an ajoining room which meant when the little kids woke up at the crack of […] down it sounded like they were in our bedroom! The hotel was a little out of the way, but the tram to the middle of the CBD ran right past the hotel. It was two blocks from a lot of Italian restaurants on Lygon Street. It's own restaurant was only open for dinner and had a very limited menu. The hotel seemed a little older, but in very good repair. We enjoyed our stay here mainly because it was not right in the city centre although it was within walking distance. Transport was very close if you wanted to catch a tram or the free bus which we did to St Kilda and to the Melbourne Zoo. Lygon St was absolutely wonderful and a little mecca of eateries. The hotel is nicely situated to make the most of an inner-city Carlton weekend. We stayed in a standard Executive Queen room for 2 nights and we were not very satisfied with that. The bathroom was in significant need of renovation and cleanliness was not very satsfactory. One night there was much noise from a pool party on the top floor. The third […] night we asked for a better room and were given an excellent renovated room which were were very happy with. Since our stay the hotel management have been in contact with us and have offered us a discount on another weekend. Altogether the service and staff standard is excellent but we do recommend that if you are planning to stay, ensure that you are to be placed in an already renovated room. This is the worst hotel I have ever visited in my life, the rooms very very dirty, the bathroom was not functional, and the service was afwul, this is not even a two star hotel, shame on the owners

as we needed a place to stay on such short notice and as we were not familiar what so ever with melbourne and its surroundings we thought carlton rydges was a perfect location for us to be in. the convenience of the trams right outside your hotel and a hop and skip to the city centre made it a remarkable place to stay, the rooms where very homely and […] very accomadating, room service everyday made it a treat as you reentered your room to a well tucked in bed it was great to see. As we only stayed for 3 night and 4 days it is well and trully not enough time to see and do all the things you want to do while staying a rydges hotel. Especially for all you gym buffs its quite small but all the better it makes it a more private experience and on a lovely summer day why not just relax in the lovely beautiful pool on the roof top or relax in the spa, which we infact missed out on doing, on that note bon voyage we will see you soon.
