"would never return badly run hotel dreadful decor"
the swimming pool is nice. the rest is bad. The hotel is awfully organised, with unfriendly valet staff. Gym is not working. Sauna is broken. Staff say: we do not know, we have technical problems, we have never used it (staff in spa particularly bad).
Love this hotel ! Have stayed dozens of times and it is always excellent!
"Good deal"
It's a good deal. The counter staff was very friendly. The room was mostly clean but it did feature a large unnecessary couch that was covered in stains.

Wonderful hotel. Concierge was outstanding. Food was delicious. All service staff were so friendly. Would definitely come back!
"Great visit"
Great staff, great food and convenient location. Probably the best hotel shower I have ever had... Great pressure and plenty of hot water but our toilet plugged up a couple of times....something I read in another review as well. Overall a very good stay!
"Luxe Inconveniences"
The Luxe is very ironically named; almost nothing about it feels like a luxury hotel. The price-gouging alone is bad enough, but is insulting when paired with the lack of basic conveniences one comes to expect with a luxury hotel. I was staying here when I was displaced from a recent move to LA; I ended up switching to a Best Western in Van Nuys because […] I felt it was more for the money. That's probably all I need to say, but for specifics: 1. There are two separate buildings. If you're in the second building, as I was, you have to walk down the hill to the main building for the restaurant, etc. It also causes delays in solving problems. 2. In the second building, there is no elevator, only stairs. The icemaker is downstairs, by the front door, where the valet is, which is annoying and inconvenient. 3. The wi-fi is SLOOOOOOOW. Embarassingly so. 4. There are only about 30 tv channels at the Luxe; everything else is On Demand. At $4.99 for a 30 minute show or $14.99 for a movie, I felt like this was a gauche rip-off. Is basic cable too much to ask? 5. Pet friendly? Sure, if you're willing to shore up a non-refundable $250 fee, which is deeply hidden on their main site and not mentioned on hotels.com. I have a 6 lb cat. Bananas. 6. Valet parking at $25 a night is your only option, although for the small lot by my building, having someone else move my car 3 feet was just ridiculous. The fee itself is absurd and exorbitant considering the hotel has spacious grounds and is not strapped for available parking spaces. 7. The key reader on my room had to be re-set not once, but twice. Coming home late and tired from work (in my case) sucks even more when you have to wait on someone to come up from the main building to let you in your room. 8. When I came home from work at 3:15 on a Friday afternoon, I found a Jersey Shore-type bro vomiting openly in the hallway. Precious. When I mentioned it to hotel services, they sent me a few free breakfast cards. Yes, that mak Lisez la suite

"Excellent Stay"
This was my first time at the Luxe, but it will now be the place I stay for all my LA visits. It's centrally located (right off the 405), but pushed back from the street so the rooms are quiet and peaceful. The rooms are huge, there are great amenities, and the staff were all very friendly. They also allow dogs, which to me, is a plus.
"Luxe Sunset - Great Place If You Can Deal with 405"
As of early April 2012, the Luxe on Sunset has just about everything going for it, except the continuing construction on the adjacent 405 freeway. This was my second stay at the Luxe, and it is a cool, upscale hotel. The service is exemplary. It is a renovated motel but that shows only in the corridors. The room decor is soft earth tones and contemporary. […] Rooms in the main building have balconies that face the hillside, nice to sit outside and watch birds in the trees. They have an attractive restaurant, though we did not eat there. Room service was amazingly fast even at 10 pm. The only downside is the access, which can be congested and have new detours daily due to 405 Freeway construction. Lisez la suite

"Affordable Luxury"
This hotel is nesteled amongst tree's off sunset blvd. The staff treats you like family. The hotel is close to famous neighbordhoods such as Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Westwood, and Belair. My two teenagers enjoyed touring ucla and hanging out in Westwood, which is a very short drive from the property.

"The Luxe Sunset Blvd. LA - Friendly Staff"
This is how a hotel should be run! Amazing and friendly staff, great food; WILL DEFINITELY STAY AGAIN
"Great location"
Staff was helpful, polite and welcoming. Location was spectacular.
Very nice hotel. We stayed with our 2 boys (11&10) and the staff and hotel were very nice. The room was a little cramped, but we didnt spend a lot of time in it. The room was very basic, but nice. Tiny patio that is shared with adjacent rooms. One complaint was the space between the door and carpet allowed for noise into the room from the hallway; also […] heard the lady above us walking in heels on her floor. Construction around the entrance was no big deal - just have to watch out for it the first time. Exiting required right-hand turns; dont even bother trying to make a left turn!! We stayed in a 5* hotel in LA just prior to the Luxe and enjoyed the Luxe more. It is really a great location, comfy yet refined feel, and, again, the staff was excellent. Lisez la suite
"Some issues with Luxe"
The room, bed, and staff (overall), were good for the price and area. The biggest issue we had was we left our car with valet, grabbed all our bags (several), went to checkin only to find out we had to get our car again, load our luggage, drive up the hill to a different hotel location. Then one of our party had to climb up stairs to their room because […] there wasn't an elevator. It would have been great if the valet told us ahead of time, or considering we got in at 3:30am the front desk could have booked us in the lower building since it was on a Tuesday morning! "Close to UCLA"
The accomadations were first class although we made the reservations for five people and the room wasn't ideal for a party our size. I would rather return with just my wife in the future. The entrance and parking was awkward, but overall a fine experiance which I would recommend.

"Poor Bedding"
very poor quality bedding materials, stuffy, can't really fall asleep, not worth the price at all
"Love the Luxe"
Great hotel, good staff. 405 construction and resulting traffic on Sunset makes access difficult these days, but the hotel is quiet, high quality, well-appointed. The food is great. The only improvement I'd suggest is that the in-room coffee has only powdered creamer, not real half and half. This seems out of step with the otherwise great quality at […] the Luxe. Lisez la suite
"great location & service"
Having grown up in LA, I recognize this property as the former Holiday Inn. They made it more luxe w some simple but nice upgrades to the lobby & courtyards. The rooms are basic, but fine. Though by the freeway, the sound isn't at all bad unless you open the terrace doors. The parking staff are the most polite, kind & professional I've ever seen. However, […] the maid service is lacking. Though we left our room before nine the first day, they still hadn't cleaned it written we returned at 4 pm. They then called every half hour trying to push us out so they could clean, alternately hinting if we needed service. After we went out two hours later, we returned to find a room w basically bare minimums cleaned (no coffee refresh, dirty cups still left on counters, etc). Still, for location & price, worth riding the room service staff a bit. Lisez la suite
"Extremely gracious"
This hotel is near UCLA, where I needed to attend a conference. The hotel has a car and driver, which will take you anywhere you wish AND pick you up, all for free, as long as it is within 10-15 minutes. This save me over a hundred dollars, going back and forth to the university. Also, they have 24 hour room service! Some of the dinner items were amazing, […] far and above other hotels I have recently been at. Try the pumpkin ravioli and the chopped salad. 5 stars. At every step, they were friendly, knew my name, and catered to me. I would gladly go back. My one complaint was the tv felt a bit out-dated. Lisez la suite

"Always a great place"
Perfectly located to UCLA, UCLA Medical Center, Westwood, Brentwood, Bel Air. Very hip as well.
"Luxe Sunset Blvd - great for business and couples"
Hotel is stylish and very conveniently located. Service is great. The only problem - which can be a very big problem when traveling with children - is that there is very little privacy between rooms.
"Fantastic stay!"
We had an amazing room, amazing food and amazing service. The hotel owner was on-site and we accidentally met him over breakfast. They were no NICE to our 4 year old!
"Construction, Thin Windows and Room Problems"
The hotel is in the middle of a highway construction project (we spoke with hotel day of check-in and they never mentioned the 5 mile detour); our reserved king wasn't available and the truck noise from the nearby Interstate comes through the sliding doors of the rooms.
"Good except..."
The shower was very difficult to turn on and when it did go on it blasted so hard with no way to control the flow or direction. Our room was the closest to the lobby and it was very noisy most of the time. No sidewalks around to take a walk in the neigborhood.
"Far Room"
As said in the title the room was very far the fron the desk, the bussiness center and the restaurant. There was no SPA only a cold swimming pool. The people in the front desk are very rude and weird.

Beds REALLY need to be improved. Noise from other rooms also a problem. Staff is wonderful.
"The Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel"
First visit to the hotel, and I was really impressed with the size of the guest rooms, service of the staff and how well the fitness center was furnished. I paid a very reasonable rate for a King room which was large, beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The Luxe has only one restaurant, but the food was excellent and the property is close […] to several great dining options. Front desk and valet service was outstanding - you get the impression the staff is proud of their hotel, and they should be. This was a great find, and I'll be staying there often in the future. "Value Hotel"
It feels a bit like an ex-motel trying to be a boutique hotel, but you can't argue with the rates sometimes offerred and everyone working there was helpful and friendly.
"Shhhhh..."
Been staying here every time I come back to visit my old home of LA. I cannot say better things about this place from the valet guys to the front desk- amazing. I don't want to say too much- for fear of it being over booked for my next visit : ( Either way- one can't go wrong making this their home away from home- the next time visiting the city of […] Angels. "Fantastic Stay!"
Great service -- we got upgraded to a suite without charge -- and the nicest and most helpful staff. I can't recommend this enough, and will be coming back for future stays.
"Much to like, some not so much"
First off: this is a beautiful property, the staff we dealt with were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. It's a great place to stay if a visit to the Getty Center is part of your trip. The fare at the hotel restaurant was very good and priced quite fairly. Three things keep me from giving a perfect review, one of which may not affect your visit: 1) […] While we were there, overnight construction work very close by was EXTREMELY LOUD in the time between 1 and 3 a.m. when you might like to sleep. When we checked in we were told we were being upgraded to a junior suite, which was a great room, but exposed to the construction noise. I don't know whether the "upgrade" was a desperate attempt to fill that room, or whether the fact that the booking was available on Hotels.com in the first place was because of the construction. I have to say, we would not have stayed here if we had known how intrusive the noise would be (jackhammers--lots and lots of jackhammers). I'm not sure how much the hotel staff knew about how loud the work would be. The front desk was kind enough to waive the room service charge for our breakfast after I complained, gently, about the noise. 2) The hotel is located in two buildings...we were in the spa building, uphill from the main building with the front desk and the restaurant. Getting back and forth is a bit inconvenient, at least we thought that way. 3) While the location is convenient for a lot of attractions--not too far from the beaches, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and of course the Getty--there are no restaurant or shopping options real close by, certainly not within walking distance. Your feeling about that may vary. The quality of the people left me with an overall very positive feeling about the hotel, and if there's no construction work going on that removes our biggest concern. Lisez la suite
"Usually good, but not this time"
I've stayed at this hotel several times in the past couple years, our daughter goes to UCLA and it's very close to the campus. Usually I have a great experience and rate this hotel 5 stars but not this time. There is a tremendous construction project going on at the Sunset Blvd/405 Freeway where this hotel is located and it's been a small hassle in […] the past, but tolerable. We had been to Parent's weekend at UCLA and went to many functions and on this night we were coming back to the hotel at midnight. The construction crew blocked the only intersection allowing you to get to the entrance to the hotel, we tried a different route, causing us to drive for 20 minutes around it and the other side was blocked as well! I was extremely frustrated and exhausted driving all around LA to get back into the hotel and finally stopped a police officer who had me turn on my hazard lights and travel in the wrong direction down Sunset Blvd to get to the entrance of the hotel! The next morning I called the front desk to ask why wouldn't the hotel give its guests a heads up about the literal BLOCKING of the two entrances to the hote?. Josh answered, and was not the least bit interested in my dilemma. He said "why didn't you go through the back?" I said "I didn't know there was a back " he says, "did you call the hotel for directions?" Really Josh? If I didn't know there was a back entrance why would I call for directions to the back entrance? This was infuriating and I have to wonder why the hotel, knowing full well this construction is going on, would not give its guests a map as a heads up! If I did not know my way around Brentwood I would have been hopelessly lost at midnight in LA. The next morning we had to check out and had an event at UCLA at 9:30. At 9:00, I called the front desk - unfortunatley Josh answered again. I asked him to send a bellman to our room, my elderly mother and I sat there and waited for 20 minutes and no bellman ever showed up. (there is no elevator) I final Lisez la suite
"Always a pleasure"
I've stayed at the Luxe several times now. Despite the location right next to the 405 freeway, it's always quiet, dignified, elegant and comfortable. The rooms are well-appointed. The food is good and the atmosphere warm and conducive to doing business or relaxation. The only downside is that the parking is valet-only. While the valet staff is wonderful, […] I prefer to park the car myself. Lisez la suite
"luxe hotel"
an excellent hotel and i will definetly stay there again in my future travels to california........
"The Luxe is very luxury ..."
The Luxe seemed to us a ***** hotel. When we arrived there was a crew of parking staff that took our car to the parking lot. It was a bit strange for us because we're used to park by ourselves. Nice staff at the reception. We received a refreshing towel and a voucher for a free wine or a cappuchino. Big, modern room with two queen size beds and a […] balcony to sit outside. The view to the garden (a steep meadow) at the back of the hotel was nice. It was quite quiet there. We only heard people going to there rooms. As usual doors are thin... The hotel was one of the most modern and newest hotels that we've booked. It has it's price. And breakfast isn't included. We drove to West Hollywood which is a 20 minute drive away to get something. There was also a coffee maker in the room and a mini bar. One time we've ordered breakfast to our room. Usually we've paid the same price for a whole dinner and got more food... There was also a hotel shuttle bus available (3 mile circle or to the upper hotel area). The hotels not far away from Sunset Plaza (Clubs, Restaurants, Shopping), Hollywood, Beverly Hills is just around the corner, Getty Center). This hotel is for guests with a bigger purse or if you want to impress somebody. It's also very popular for weddings. Lisez la suite
