Amsterdam Hotel - Stamford

Amsterdam Hotel is older, but completely refurbished and modernized. It is elegantly furnished and the desk staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient. I definitely recommend this hotel for travelers staying in Stamford!

Do not stay here! So scary. I went here on a trip for work with 2 other women. We had 3 separate rooms but all slept in the sane room because we were so scared. We were the only women staying in the hotel and heard screams all through the night. We left early.

The Amsterdam is an older property in Stamford just up the hill from downtown. Great rates, easy parking, two elevators, friendly front desk. If you are looking for flash and glamour, well best try one of the national chains, but be prepared to spend at least $50 more per night in Stamford. The Internet service is excellent. Actually, it is the fastest I have had at a hotel. However, the beds are out of the 1960s even Holiday Inns have nicer beds. The shower pressure was non-existent. The facility in general was nice as was the staff but the rooms need significant update. The price was far too high for what you get.

Very close to Stamford train station. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The only problem was the shower, there was no pressure in showers.

Great value and clean, comfortable room. I was able to walk to the large downtown mall in about 10 minutes. The train station is farther but still within walking distance. The view and breakfast were nothing special, but the staff was very friendly. I would stay here again.

I had an overnight stay in Stamford and the Amsterdam was perfect. A short walk to Starbucks and shopping, it was comfortable and clean. My friends who were there also mentioned that they would stay there again as well. Very good value!!! I will stay there again when in Stamford.

A decent hotel. A late arrival was made easier by professional, alert front desk. Hotel was brightly lit with parking very close to hotel entrances. Easy to bring in allowed pet in side door without any scenes in main lobby. Located in a somewhat obscure corner of Stamford which may be an annoyance to travelers who need ready access to downtown. TV […] remote did not work right and no soda machines/ice readily available in lobby which seemed strange - but these were minor annoyances - stay was basically positive. Lisez la suite

The freak snowstorm of 10/29/11 knocked power out in our CT town and we needed a place to stay. The Amsterdam was available (few places were). The room was fine. We asked for a cot and it was brought immediately. The hotel accepts pets, so we could bring our beagle. The hotel is very conveniently located off I-95 in Stamford. Usually stay at Hampton Inn, this is mostly comparable for a short stay. Room and bathroom clean though sink faucet loose on counter. Location is actually OK, especially with a car, and there's a great little neighborhood Italian restaurant within easy walking next to a huge CVS, as well as hotel row about 4 blks. away. Elevator (singular) needs upgrade […] as well as breakfeast (lotsa carbs but milk is only protein). Office staff was excellent and offered immediate help for local needs. This is a pleasant, clean, affordable hotel with a gracious staff and proximate to downtown Stamford and within short commuting distance to NYC. I really enjoyed my stay there. A great find.

Occasionally,i had spend week-ends at amsterdam.. staff are very courteous.. and assisted you in what ever needs posssible.Rooms are very clean.

Hotell is good for the bucks!!!

The hotel staff was very friendly. Good hotel for a good price.

The hotel itself was great for the price and convenience, however, check-in was horrible due to one rude and condescending clerk. Hotel states it is pet-friendly but hotel clerk felt or thought that we did not inform of pet even thought we changed original room, which was right in front of elevator and dog would bark when guest came and go, in an effort […] to be considerate of other guests we requested a room further away from elevator. Then clerk implied that we were trying to not pay the pet fee and to top it off not only did they overcharge for pet fee but charged twice. He attempted to intimidate me and my daughter (when she went to walk the dog) which was not appreciated and I did not stand for his unacceptable behavior. Once we returned home, I called and spoke with the owner who was very understanding, apologetic, and accommodating. This goes to show that one bad apple can ruin it for everyone. The clerk upon check-out was also very gracious and understanding about the situation. As a pet lover/owner who travels with my pets often, the Amsterdam was chosen for that specific reason of being pet friendly and I am full aware of the pet fees required so it was unnecessary for the check-in clerk to behave that way. My first impression of this hotel was not good. The person behind the desk was extremely unfriendly and made it seem like we were inconveniencing him when we checked in. I have never experienced anyone so unfriendly at a hotel before! The girl that was at the main desk in the morning seemed much nicer but the first guy was horrible! The room we stayed […] in was ok, but it was during Hurricane Irene. When the storm hit at about 4:30 in the morning, the wind was blowing the curtains even though the window was closed. Staff is friendly. Parking is free. Old hotel but in good condition. Continental breakfast is free. Room are big and confortable. Grand central is one hour by train.

Nothing like what the reviews had said. Didn't even end up staying the whole night, couldn't sleep the beds were not comfortable at all.

Although the Amsterdam hotel is not new, by any stretch, it met my expectations for a budget stay in downtown Stamford. The lobby had fresh carpet, my reservation was located and check-in straightforward, and the elevator worked smoothly. The room, while not high end, met expectations for cleanliness and furnishings. The one gripe (toilet didn't stop […] running) was resolved by the same way I'd have done it at home, by jiggling the handle. I parked on the available parking deck, which had plenty of space. Nice hotel, near to the Freeway against New York. A little old and worn out, but fine compared to the price. Theres a very good little italian restaurant just across the street behind an also convenient Wallgreens. But forget the breakfast - take it somewere else.

I just slept over to keep travelling the next morning. Next time I'll try to look for something a little bit better. Too old, too awful, it was kind of clean although...

The amsterdam Hotel in stamfor d ct. A real gem aof a place... clean and tidey rooms, great contenental breakfast, pleasant staff... only downside was not enough pillows on the king bed... and the views from the windows is not the best...but then again at the twice as expensive mariot down the block the view isnt any better

I stayed overnight due to an ice storm. The room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint was the very limited area of covered parking. I had to park outside. As I said we had an ine storm so It took me about 25 minutes the next morning in the on going storm to de-ice my car before I could leave.

I awas a bit aprehensive that such an inexpensive hotel was going to be a disaster but was plesantly disappointed. For the price the hotes exceeded all expectations.

This hotel is located near downtown Stamford. Parking is fine and condition is great. My room was large and had every cable chnl and room was comfortable. Would stay and will stay again next time.

Chose this hotel based on the rate and location. Overall, this is an older hotel, but was fine for a quick business trip. The room was clean and had plenty of space including a reclining chair which was bolted to the floor. There is plenty of parking space both on the outside of the building and in a covered garage below. As mentioned in other reviews, […] there is a Taco Bell directly next to the hotel. There is also a Walgreens about a block away which was convenient. The surrounding neighborhood seemed fineThe bed was uncomofortable. The hotel offers good free continental breakfast and lot of free parking space.

Great place to stay in if you want to head to NY and don't want to spend an arm and a leg in NYC.. Very convinient you can take a train which is 1 mile away from Hotel. Quiet neighborhood.
