The Beach House Hotel Half Moon Bay - Half Moon Bay

We stayed here with our two boys, and we will definitely stay at this hotel again. The continental breakfast was of excellent quality, the room was spacious and cozy. We had a partial ocean view room on the 2nd floor and had a private balcony where we could indeed enjoy ocean views, with no sounds from floors above or below. There is an area lighthouse […] foghorn round the clock which we never heard from our room, but which added pleasant sense of place from the outdoor patio. The outdoor pool was small but exceptionally clean and well heated, as was the separate hot tub, just far enough from the pool to provide a more quiet and relaxing experience. The beautiful patio/courtyard area near the pool, sits just on the beach with full ocean views, allowing guests to partake of the complimentary breakfast in the sunshine and breeze of the ocean's striking beauty. The beach access gate leads you directly to paths along the shore which beachcombers will love, with dramatic waves hitting the shore. The hotel staff was very helpful throughout our stay. It was not a good experience. The elevator was broken the entire stay and the handicap ramp gate was locked shut and the management did not have key.

This hotel is a lovely place. It was a 30th wedding anniversary trip, and our door opened up to a wonderful view of the bay and harbor. The grounds are very nice, the staff was friendly and helpful. Pros: nice big room, comfy bed, very clean bathroom and living area. Great location on the beach. Cons: no air conditioning, very disappointing for a 3 star hotel in the USA, rubbish tv channels that were fuzzy and limited in number, blinds and no curtains that let the light right in first thing in the morn, dangerously small gym with no room to use […] the free weights safely. The only thing we regretted about the hotel was that we stayed there just one night on our coastal drive journey. Everything from the friendly reception staff to breakfast was great. Lovely little hotel along the west coast off California 1. I stayed here with a friend and we chose the hotel as it was not too far from downtown San Francisco (25 min drive to Pier 39). We arrived in the evening for two nights- there was sufficient (free) parking available. The hotel receptionist was friendly enough and gave us a list of places to […] eat out near the hotel. She didn't mention where breakfast was but we never bothered to eat at the hotel so a moot point I guess. The room was great- the bed was one of the most comfortable beds ever and the shower was decent. We had a junior suite with a standard view- even this was pretty beautiful- we had a half view of the road, the harbour and lighthouse from our little balcony. Although there was a fair bit of traffic and there is a restaurant next door- it was still pretty quiet when you wanted to get some sleep. The room came with a fridge, stove, toaster, micro, sink and cutlery, crockery and glassware- unexpected but really handy! We drove past a Safeway on our way in (off Cal-1 about ten mins before you reach the hotel if driving south) so we picked up our own food and snacks. There is no air con but you really don't need it as you get the sea air- we left our balcony door open at night with the screen door shut and that was fine. There is a fan system inside too which was good. Unfortunately we didn't have time or energy to use the pool/jacuzzi but I would definitely go back and stay a bit longer. Lisez la suite

Overpriced MOTEL with ocean views. Would have been a nice place to stay for half the price. The breakfast is less then what you would get at an inexpensive chain (eg. Hampton inn). For the price you are paying, you should not be able to see through the towels. Continued on our trip down to Pacific Grove and stayed at The Seven Gables Inn. The price […] was the same, also oceanfront. Rooms amazing, awesome breakfast, thick plush towels and robes, afternoon wine and cheese and night time milk and cookies. Take a lesson from other B&B's or adjust your prices. If your in the Half Moon Bay area , maybe check out The Seal Cove Inn, not waterfront but a real B&B that knows how to run an Inn. Beautiful site and grounds. The staff was very helpful and housekeeping was fantastic. Very comfortable hotel with convenient access to restaurants and beach. We actually loved the harbor view even though we were looking for a beach location at first. The road traffic on the weekend was bad but not as big an issue during the week.

Was wonderful ! The.view was. Beautiful. The only challenge was the heat, it was either all on or all off, so from was too cold or too hot. Also we were. It aware of the 4pm check in time. Don't recommend the pull out. couch bed either. I would definately stay again!

we were dissapointed that we had a view of a wall.....this hotel is sitting right on a georgeous beach and all we could see was a wall out of our glass door and patio, but the room was very nice and the area was outstanding!

We had a great time at this hotel from start to finish. Staff very helpful, room excellent (full ocean view suite) and housekeeping very efficient. Plenty to do and lots of great places to eat within walking distance. Must check out the local brewing co up near the pier. Really enjoyed our stay here despite the cool and overcast weather

My sisters and I came here for an overnight getaway. I felt more relaxed just walking into their lobby. Once we got into our room and had a beautiful view of the ocean and sand and Pillar Point Harbor, I relaxed even more. Sat out in the outdoor hot tub and relaxed yet more. Walked to Mezzaluna for a fabulous dinner. Shopped at some very cute, artsy […] shops nearby. Walked along the beach and the walking path by the ocean. It was just the getaway that we needed. Had a lovely stay at this hotel. We had a sea view room which was very comfortable. It was in an ideal spot to explore the surrounding area and also for a day trip to San Francisco ( only 25 miles away). The fog horn does go off constantly but we didn't find it annoying at all. I wouldn't hesitate staying in this hotel again.

It would be the last night of a 10 day vacation to San Francisco and I was looking for somewhere that might be a restful place to stay before heading back on a long drive home. We absolutely loved this hotel and what a view! It was very comfortable, clean and I would stay there again or recommend it to anyone I know. The only drawback I would say the hotel had was the fog horn that goes off every 8 seconds in the distance. It is not too intrusive but it is there. My husband said it kept him up a bit the first night but he quickly got used to it and didn't hear it anymore. If you are a light sleeper or tend to hear everything, it might be an issue, otherwise it is not a problem at all. Believe me, the view and everything else about the hotel certainly make up for it. Great view room. Comfortable bed and very nice bathroom. Unfortunately, the hotel had sprinkler malfunction in a room which woke the whole hotel up at 2:45 am. The alarm went on for 20-30 mins. The hotel did give us a late checkout.

Wife and I loved the stay. She is from the Bay area and after the passing of her parents has no home in California, it looks as she may have found one. We loved the view from our room, we slept with the patio door open a little because she loves the sound of the foghorn. There was a fresh log for the fireplace each day which was burned that evening. […] There was also a nice continental breakfast each morning consisting of fresh pastries and fresh fruit, juice and coffee. On Friday and Saturday evenings there was wine and cheese in the lobby surrounding a fireplace. Overall, we were very happy and plan to stay there whenever our trips take us to San Francisco.
