It was great! Wish we could have had the breakfast package- person selling the room's stay said there were no packages avail for the weekend, however I heard others at breakfast seemed to have a breakfast package. Also wish they'd offered some discount for a VCU person visiting their child, as they do Sun-Thurs. We chose this hotel for the historic and architectural interest and weren't disappointed. The common areas of this hotel are beautiful. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, servicable, nothing particularly fancy, a tad on the small side. We enjoyed the grand entrances, the lovely bar area, the indoor pool and small outside […] terrace by the pool, and the downstairs coffee bar, which opens fairly early. There are some streets within walking distance that aren't so nice. But the hotel is well situated, close to many interesting historical sites and a selection of good restaurants. The hotel's restaurant is top rated, though we didn't have a chance to try it. The hotel has a shuttle that takes guests to nearby sites/locations. Lovely hotel in wonderful Richmond location. The standard room was small but very clean. However, the lighting fixtures must have all had 25W-40W bulbs- eerily dark. The bathroom lighting was too dim to even try to apply makeup. The heat was blasting non-stop and I could not control it.
