The Seneca is prefectly located.
This hotel is converting to apartments July 1, therefore it doesn't really matter.

"Great location"
Other than the room being in disrepair and the carpet being stained and dirty it was adequate.
I always appreciate staying at the Seneca. It is in a great location and at a reasonable price for its location! The staff are very helpful and courteous.
"Great value - tons of space!"
This was the second time I stayed at the Seneca and I love it's location, amenities and size of the rooms - it's the best deal in the Mag Mile! If your more interested in location and space, this is a great place that is a throw-back to the 40's or 50's. Our room was a suite with full kitchen, so if you are staying for a long weekend or have kids, this […] set up is perfect. Our breakfast, which was included in the price, was a full sit-down with wait staff. Be warned to bring your own hair dryer and the wi-fi worked sporatically. The furniture shows a lot of age, but it was fine for what we needed. Lisez la suite
"Great location - huge rooms"
The location can't be beat. Close to all Magnificient Mile has to offer. The rooms were like an apartment (kitchen, living room, dining room, 2 bathrooms). Friendly staff. Reasonably priced.
"Great Location Not So Great Experience"
I specifically asked about street noise and asked for a quiet location. However, I was assigned a 3rd floor room on the side street (across from The Hancock). The garbage trucks arrived around 4:00 a.m. and the noise did not end until almost 7:00. I was moved to a different location for the remainder of my stay, but the new room was extremely warm and […] I had to open windows to moderate the temperature. Therefore, more street noise. While the rooms were very large (more like a one bedroom apartment), there is a lot of deferred maintenance including frayed dirty carpet, shabby walls, holes in the sheets. From the strong smell, it was clear that the room was once designated for smoking. The bed was very firm and not very comfortable. I will not stay here again. All that said, the staff was pleasant and breakfast was enjoyable. Lisez la suite

"Great location and good service"
The Seneca is ideal for N. Michigan activities. And the hotel staff was extra helpful. We had a great visit.
Only one small suggestion: when registered for 2 adults, the bathroom needs more than 1 wash cloth and towel. Also it is nice to have bar soap and shampoo and rinse in the room - I do not pack these things when I travel. Thank you.
The staff were amazing and the hotel was conveniently located one block from Magnificent Mile and right next door to the John Handcock building! We were only about 3 blocks from the El which gave us access to just about everything. The food in the cafe was great and the people providing the services were extremely nice and personable. I will be staying […] here if and when I get to return to Chicago! Lisez la suite

"Not Staying At This Hotel Again in My Lifetime"
One of the absolute worst experiences I have ever been subjected to in an upscale Chicago hotel. The suite that I booked smelled like it was last cleaned in the 1940's, I nearly broke a toe when walking into the bathroom because the marble bathroom floor was elevated about an inch higher than the bedroom floor, the decorations were right out of a senior […] citizen home. I will never go back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else unless they like the feel of a hotel that is past it's prime. Lisez la suite
"Seneca, Chicago, il"
Wonderful huge suite. Lots of room, except bathroom is small. Wish there was a desk, as plugging in computer, etc. was difficult at dining room table. Great service from the desk, door staff, bell hop and waiter in cafe.

"good quality for the price"
This is not a five-star hotel. However, given it's location and price, it is quite a bargain. We had a 2 queen suite. There were details that were missing, such as the baseboard covering to the heater pulled away from the wall, the sink vanity slightly out of alignment, several marks on the wall. On the other hand, the lobby and the room were quite […] ornate and well-decorated. The beds were comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Parking is ridiculously expensive, but I knew that from other reviews. The location is very convenient to north Michigan Ave and Navy Pier. I would definitely recommend this hotel to travelers looking for a good, decent, up-scale hotel in a great location at a bargain price. Lisez la suite
"Location, Breakfast and Kitchen, oh my!"
We really enjoyed our 6 night stay at the Hotel Seneca. Our room with 2 double beds (#12 on the floor) was spacious with plenty of closets and storage. In fact, our room had a 3 walk in closets, one just big enough for a twin air mattress (that we brought along) so our 13 year old daughter had a “private bedroom”! The kitchen had everything we needed […] to enjoy dessert and takeout and the bathroom was roomy with excellent light. In fact, the only criticism I can make is that our room was very dimly lit with just one weak 60 watt bulb in the only lamp in the room. We bought a 100 watt bulb which helped but a couple of sconces and a desk light would have been even better! The location was superb with a mall, visitor center and other attractions just a block or two away. We also discovered Potash Grocers at State and Chestnut to stock up on fruit, snacks, drinks and wine. There is a food court in the mall with wine and pre-made food too. The breakfast provided in the cozy restaurant below the lobby was substantial and we easily made breakfast for two feed the three of us. If we ever go back to Chicago, I am sure we will go back to the Seneca! Lisez la suite
"Great hotel next door to Hancock Center"
My two teenage boys and I stayed at the Seneca for three nights and loved it. The prices (with the promotional discount that we had) were very reasonable for such a nice room. It is an older hotel but very clean and classy, just next door to the Hancock Center at the northern end of the Magnificient Mile. The waterfront is just a couple of blocks the […] other way. We didn't use the hotel's valet parking, though, there is a self-parking garage at 275 E. Chestnut a block towards the lake which was $32 per night. The breakfast voucher at this hotel is not the usual buffet; it is cooked-to-order eggs, fresh pancakes, etc. which was delicious. Lisez la suite
"Girls weekend"
I have never stayed in Chicago and took my 2 grown daughters away for a girls weekend. We were very pleased with the hotel. It was very clean, comfortable and the staff was extremely pleasant and courteous. Love the location...so close to Michigan Avenue and felt very safe walking back to hotel after dark. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't […] mind a less than modern but very classy hotel. Lisez la suite
"Seneca Hotel - not what we thought"
It was our first stay at the Seneca, though I have stayed in Chicago at numerous hotels in the past. Our room had no working lamps - all lightbulbs were burnt out, there was not one clock in the room either which was inconvient. The room was very dirty- it was as if no one had stayed there in a year. We also never got our room cleaned (we were there […] for 3 days/2 nights. I would not recommend this hotel and we will not stay there again. Lisez la suite

"Seneca Hotel in Chicago"
Excellent hotel, close to everything. Staff was friendly. Everything exceeded our expectations.
"Perfect shopping location"
Great location with easy access to public transportations. Hotel was spacious with helpful staffs. Standard hot breakfast was satisfying to start the day. Did not try the on premise restaurant because it was too expensive. Very close to Lake Michigan so it was perfect for a morning run. The only complaint that I had was the room did not have the air […] on during my stay. I stayed during the unusual record breaking heat wave in Spring. Other than that it was a perfect hotel. "St. Patrick's Day weekend"
Hotel has great location and very affordable. Furnishings (kitchen) a bit outdated/old. and did not match advertised photo much smaller but functional. The television in the bedroom did not work. Pillows are much too small and uncomfortable (bring your own). Good closet space. Complimentary full breakfast was great. Valet parking very reasonable Roof […] Observatory was closed (80 degrees outside the entire weekend). Management missed on that one. Lisez la suite
"seneca hotel in chicago"
we had a mini spring break with my family and this hotel is located to walk to shopping and right aCROSS FROM THE JOHN HANCOCK . Very helpful to the different sights we wanted to go or eat. Nice big rooms to relax and we would stay there again.
"Seneca Hotel in Chicago - great price, great place"
Great place, right off Michigan Ave/Mag Mile next to John Hancock. Short walk or cab ride to most places. Very friendly and helpful staff - front desk, concierge, bellhop, housekeeping. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Fantastic...we've stayed at The Seneca many times..love the suites, very roomy and comfortable. I have recommeded this hotel to many!!!
"Seneca Hotel"
excellent location, less than two blocks from Michigan Ave, very close to good restaurants and museums
"Seneca Hotel in Chicago, IL"
I absolutely love this hotel. The comfort of having a kitchenette at my disposal was the best amenity, especially if you have a family. An added bonus was that the Saloon 99 was on the premises, without having to go out in the cold. The food there was to die for. It is a shame that the hotel will cease to offer its hospitality to travelers, as it will […] be closing in March and transitioning to condos. I hate to see it go. The staff was tremendous. The customer service was impeccable. I deeply regret that on my next stay, it will not be at the Senneca Hotel. Lisez la suite
We've stayed at the Seneca in the last 6 months and had a fabulous king suite. The queen suite we just stayed in didn't come close to the last one. Room was cold, carpet ripped near bathroom, view of dumpsters which were loudly emptied saturday morning. Breakfast was nice as in the past, but room a disappointment!

"Seneca Hotel in Chicago"
We took our granddaughter to Chicago to see a play at the Water Tower Broadway Theater. Hotels.com assured me that the Seneca was nearby. In fact, it was right across the street and next to John Hancock Bldg, so perfect for walking along the Magnificent Mile. The room was rather small; no chair for sitting other than the beds and the bathroom was small. […] We did find a couple of maintenance issues such as a lamp that did not work and a stuck window. However, the courteousness of the staff, and the proximity made it worthwhile; as well as the free breakfast! We would probably stay at the Seneca again but would consider upgrading the room.
