location of hotel is great but unfortunately having a smoking room was a huge dissapointment. I have stayed at the 4 seasons in Toronto smoking room and it was amazing . The curtains were stained yellow, the ceilings were all yellow . The bathroom and bed were clean though. I loved the location as it was walking distance to all great areas and dining. "C-list hotel - Economy, clean, no-frills stay"
Key tips: -Read the cancellation policy carefully as this hotel is more strict with cancellations than others -The photos on the site do not show how aged and tired the hotel has become -Check other hotels in the area, because for $20 more, you can get better value Key complaints: -Shower had poor water pressure and a loud vibration sound came from […] the wall as it ran. The drain on the tub could not close for a bath. -Heat/AC unit in the suite has seen better days. It cut in and out sometimes not delivering heat -One of the pillows on the bed had a number of short hairs on it at check in - so tossed it aside -The gym is a joke, but there was an old treadmill that worked fine -The pool area was dated and could be cleaner therefore I didn't use it -Tired and dated exterior, common areas, rooms - its like they haven't touched anything in 15 years Key Compliments: -Friendly service at the desk. Upgraded to larger room. -Clean room and common areas -Comfy king-sized bed Overall, I would rate this hotel 5.5/10. It's a clean, economy, no-frills stay. I would NOT recommend this hotel for anyone looking for amenities (hot tub, pool, gym, etc), business-class travellers, or anyone who is particular in general (temperature of room, having a morning hot shower, etc.). I'd only recommend this hotel if you're looking for a good location, clean, safe place to sleep. Lisez la suite
"Holiday Inn Select - Chinatown, Montreal"
Fantastic location for anyone attending a conference or event at the Palais des Congres --right across the street, with a metro station right there as well. Pharmacy on the corner, lots of Chinese eateries and shops around, close walk to Old Montreal boutiques and higher-end restaurants as well. Hotel itself a bit worn and dated, bar unfortunately closed […] currently, but staff very responsive when we needed to add a refrigerator and needed a quick plumbing situation resolved. Would stay there again! Lisez la suite

"Great Hotel"
The hotel itself was in an interesting locale and of unique design. Clean, hospitable, etc. Only criticism: when asking the concierge to hold my luggage after checkout (for three hours) his response was that it was free to do so, "not including gratuity". Essentially, he implied that a tip was required, for him to put the luggage in the closet next […] to him. I would have tipped regardless, but his explicit demand came across as very rude. "montreal downtown"
This is a good hotel for the price. It is located right outside China town. Taxi ride to the heart of downtown is only 6 dollars. The acess the parking area is tough.
"Heart of China town"

"Holiday Inn Select"
Older hotel with broken door handles and stains on walls and carpets though at a great location in downtown Montreal. Across the street from the Metro and walking distance to Old Montreal. The staff was excellent, friendly and helpful.
"Close to the Palais des Congres, Really Close"
If you're working or attending an event at the Palais des Congres and being close is your number one priority, then stay here.
"Internet problems"
WiFi signal is weak and rauters aren't maintained and supervised.
"Holiday Inn Select Montreal - good location"
The hotel overall was pretty good value and would recommend. Close to Old Montreal which was great.
"The view makes up for all wrongs"
What a great locale. A woman alone may not want to stay there but a couple should love the views and accessibility to shopping, dining and the Basilica. The staff were extremely pleasant especially Julietta at the front desk!
"Our room (back of hotel) faces a HOMELESS PARK!!!"
For a Holiday Inn Hotel--- very mis-leading... From our entrance -- Consierge -- no extra effort to welcome new visitiors... The hotel used the picture of the Restraurant to give a nice impression. The whole hotel is old, dark .... even the TV are quite old. We over - paid for a 2 double bed room... Guess what we noticed: the view from the Window […] faced a Homeless park... and the nerve of Holiday Inn to charge Market prices for the downtown area... Rip-off!!! Beware!!! We will never recommend or ever stay at that location ever!!! Dis-appointed for Hotel Inn chain ... you guys need to sell this one.... Texas & Toronto Lisez la suite
"Holiday Inn Montreal -"
Professional, polite staff. Initially lodged in a room that had an unbearable smell of water damage. When I complained, the staff promptly and cheerfully changed our room to a clean and comfortable room. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Downtown location is excellently situated for access to old Montreal, St. Catherines street shopping and restaurants […] and is within walking distance of hip neighbourhoods like Saint Denis street. Overall, I give it 4 out of 5. Lisez la suite
"Not bad, but not quite a 4-star hotel!"
This hotel is ok. It's next to Chinatown and a couple of blocks from old Montreal. The room was clean and comfortable. The water temperature control was unpredictable and the shower would often get hot or hold on its own. There is no safe in the room and the folding closet doors were missing, although the floor track for it was still there and a bit […] annoying. Avoid the Chinese restaurant next to the reception desk; it is expensive, the food is not good and the service is at best mediocre! Lisez la suite

"Convenience"
This hotel is so convenient to Chinatown, Old Montreal. It's kitty corner to the Metro, only a few stops away from the Bonsecours Via Rail train station. I had a cosy homey feel of our location. It had a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Notre Dame Cathedral ( a must see day or night (sound and lighting effects) is within short walking distance from […] the hotel and 20 minute daytime guided tours are reasonably priced. Excellent Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese restaurants right around the corner. Plenty of souvenir shops and eateries. Lisez la suite
"Holiday inn Downtown Montreal"
Great location - across the street from the metro, walking distance to Old Montreal, interesting China Town, great Chinese restaurant around the corner. Helpful concierge, large room, large well-equipped bathroom, beautiful lobby with waterfalls. Only negative comment would be that the carpet in the room needs to be replaced - very shabby and dirty […] -looking. Lisez la suite
"Comfort and location, not expensive"
The room was very clean, service was perfect and the tidy white bed sheets where so soft ! I loved the comfortable bed. The decoration was harmonious both in the room and in the public areas. The breakfast was good (hot buffet with a lot of choice, inclunding fruits) I was too busy to take a look to the swiming pool. The location is just perfect to […] walk to the old port, to most festivals and shoping in subterran Montreal or on Ste-Catherine street. It is just beside Palais des congrès too and you can easily go anywhere else in town by the metro ( one street down) The neigbouhood is not bad, very easy for a tourist: good ambiance in the chineese quarter, busy daylife, interresting nightlife. Some construction two blocks down, but no disturbing noise. Occasionnal homeless begging near the metro station, but nothing spooky. And if you need anything, there is a grocery store (was still opened at 9h30 PM) in Place Desjardins shopping center. Lisez la suite
"great location , but tired rooms"
We chose this hotel for its location ( 3-5 minutes walk to the old city), but were disapointed with the rooms. The rooms are tired and are in need for a renovation.

I expected better from a hotel that claimed to be "select". The buiding is older and the rooms have seen better days. Our air conditioner struggled to work. Road construction near the hotel made access difficult. On the positive side, we were on the edge of Chinatown which was nice, and right next to a metro stop. Our walk to the "old district" was […] only 5 to 10 minutes, so the location was also fine. Staff were friendly, but breakfast ends at 10am, so be up early! Don't open the bottle of water in your room - it will cost you $4.95.........! Lisez la suite
"Holiday inn Select, Montreal Chinatown"
Satisfied with room, once we got the right one; hotel not aware of what was booked. No fridge in room. good proximity to old Montreal and downtown. Due to one-way streets, hotel entrance harder to get to, as well as lobby which was on 2nd floor. Would stay there again and recommend to others,
"Hotel in Montreal"
We could not have picked a better location for our hotel as we were right across the street from the Palais de Congres for our convention. It was also close to Notre Dame and the Old City and Chinatown. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Chad at the front desk and Pierre at the Concierge were most helpful. The hotel was very comfortable and inviting.
"HIS Montreal"
So, the location was close to subway which is great. Lobby has unique pond and walking area which was clean and very relaxing to look at. Kids loved the fish in there. All kinds of koi and carp in every color combo you can think of. Sometimes the concierge is at the desk, and Dan was really kind and had lovely suggestions for family friendly restaurants. […] Very kind about giving maps (directions not so great but you have a map after all!) and subway maps. You can see the Saturday and Wed fireworks from in front of the building on Ave Viger which was nice. The chinese restaurant in the building was tasty and predictably pricy. Yeung (sp?) was a really nice server and very funny. We enjoyed seeing him each morning. Business lounge is quite nice and I was thankful for the printer to handle boarding passes. Not so good parts: 1. There is a severe plumbing issue in that hotel. It sounded like machine guns going off when we showered - or anyone else for that matter. Scared my kids half to death the first night when the folks above us showered at 4 am. 2. Rooms not very clean, linens don't get changed when you ask them to change them and leave the special little sign up. 3. My favorite is when housekeeping knocked on the door at 8 am to clean the room. We were in bed. She was totally snooty and retorted that SHE starts at 8 am. Well, folks with young kids don't always start when she does. 4. We booked for 4 people in a room and never had 4 towels. 5. If you don't speak French well, you may have issues with the front desk. 6. The park across Ave Viger has many homeless people sleeping in it at all times. While nobody troubled us, it was a sad social commentary. Lisez la suite
