The hotel is a great price, but after you have booked/paid for your reservation on hotels.com, you will be informed in the confirmation email that an additional "administrative fee" (which was high) per night will be charged to you upon check out. The Villa Florence is and old and over priced hotel. If we slept in the lobby, it would be a four star experience. It seems many of these hotels put their investment dollars into the lobby. Note to Hotel owners, we do not sleep, or shower in the lobby. The bathrooms are tiny and being 6'6" it is no fun to have a 4' by 6' bath in a Junior King Suite. […] Maybe we need to start rating hotels for business, families and tall people. It is a nice, fancy hotel located in Union Square. Very close walk to most things entertainment wise and shopping too. Would likely stay there again if I make my way back to San Fran.

While the location of the Villa is great, just half a block from Union Square, and the staff (especially Daniel) was very helpful and knowledgeable about the surroundings, the property itself was not all that it could have been. Upon check in we learned that at Honda CRV is considered and oversized vehicle and would be charged a surcharge for valet […] parking ($58/night), you can park yourself one block away for $34/day. When we got to the room there were only two towels, the telephone did not work, and the bathroom door would not close. All things we were able to deal with but not what I expected from this hotel. The rooms a older but quaint in that San Francisco style. I may stay here again just because of the great location, but I will look around to see if I can find a better property at a comparable rate. The hotel was nice enough, but I wouldn't stay here again. Pros: it was very clean; comfy; DVD players in room; friendly staff; location, right on Powell street wite the best shopping and food in SF all within walking distance. Cons: There are some things about the building that lend to the old age character, then there are something's that just need […] to be fixed. The only outlet in our bathroom did not work. I let the front desk know on our way out for the day and the girl said she would have maintenance fix it. That never happened. The room was small. Late night room service, namely the pizza, was horrid, literally the worst pizza I have ever had (it's my favorite food and I have had a lot of it). Ask for a view if you want one, otherwise you may be looking at the white brick wall of the building next door. Overall, or stay was not bad. My husband and I grew up in San Francisco. Location is very important to us. We always want to be in the thick of the action. We liked to be on Union Square. This hotel has an A1 location. While I generally enjoyed the room itself, my friend and I were bombarded by the sounds of street music and the city's trams day and night. Additionally, we were charged an additional "service fee" upon leaving the hotel, which was not clearly stated at booking nor was it disclosed upon arrival at the hotel. The hotel was a little dated but well kept and fairly clean. I did find hair in the bathtub and sink. The bed was comfortable enough to get some sleep on but not good enough to stay for more than a few nights. Powell street is a nice area and has quick access to BART, MUNI, shopping, and food. I was impressed that the noise level was so minimal considering the hotel is in San Francisco. It was easy to ignore and I slept well through the night without waking up from it. I did ask for the quiet side of the hotel, so if that is an important aspect for you, just know to ask about it. The best part of the hotel was the staff. They were outgoing and did their best to help me out. They were quite embarrassed that the valet service their hotel outsources it to took 45 minutes to get my car for me. So, be aware and plan ahead for when you want your car. Very Nice Stay for a business trip to SF. Needed a place for a 3 nights., The location was very central to everything, walking distance to my office. There was a bit of noise from Powell Street Cable Car in the Early morning hours. I would definitely stay here again.

I've been to the Ritz and Four Seasons, however the Villa Florence beats them all in quality and service. Clarence is the hands down finest hotel emplyee I have ever experienced. He knows everything there is to know about the city and in his spare time took my wife and myself on a sight seeing extravaganza of San Francisco.

Our flight cancelled so we made a last minute res. for a Deluxe Queen room. They charged an $18 handling fee, put us in a room with a Double bed on the street side with the cable car and bars (when there were other rooms available).

This may be the first time I don't have a complaint about a hotel. The staff was great, the room was clean and well-maintained, the location was easy to get to and close to public transportation and the internet always worked. When I checked in they asked if I preferred a city view or the quiet side of the building which I appreciated. If you end up […] on the street side it is noisy until around 10 and then things quiet down with the exception of delivery trucks, etc. but really it isn't bad. One thing to keep in mind is that this is probably not a location you'd like to drive to. They offer valet parking but every time I tried to use it either cars were sitting in the two spaces or a delivery truck was parked there instead I had to use a garage 3 blocks away. I was charged the full price of $55 for parking my car overnight, even though the parking attendent burned rubber driving my new car down the street. The rooms are old, snacks in the fridge were terrible and overpriced. The $75 breakfast for two was not at all worth the money. We tried to eat breakfast at the breakfast bar instead of the restaurant […] but we were ignored by the waiter. He helped several people that arrived after us. This hotel is wonderfully clean and has Old World Charm. The rooms are good sized, beautifully decorated, clean and fresh. Location was great. Valet parking only. Free internet. Great flatscreen TVs. Friendly helpful staff. The rooms were clean, but the hotel is a bit dated, understandable for its age. Room service from Kuleto's is a plus.

Additional charges for wifi and gym that even not used will be added to your bill. There is no parking and the only option is to use valet parking that will raise the cost of your stay significantly. Breakfast not that great either. I would not recoment it to anyone.

Hotel is fine, the valet service is run by a 3rd party and they service three other hotels out of a central location. Because of this you can expect to wait 12-15 minutes to get your car EVERY time. The fee is a ridiculous $48 on top of that.

If hotels.com has me pay a certain amount I would expect that amout to be the final amount. What would prevent the hotel from charging $100 for an administrative fee. Good hotel to act as home base for touring San Francisco. Location is 1 block from Union Square. The cable car, streetcar, and bus lines are also right there. My husband and I were in the city for a wedding and wanted to spend one night near the reception location. Villa Florence was a perfect choice. It is more than reasonably priced for the location and service. We were welcomed and helped from the time we checked in until well after we checked out. The junior suite was roomy and clean. The hotel location […] is close to Union Square and shopping, cables cars and restaurants. We walked to the Ferry Building easily. We checked out and the bellman held our luggage, got it out for us a couple of hours later so we could change into wedding attire, held it again and returned it to us when we finally came to claim our car and head home. It was raining and we wanted a cab to get to the restaurant but the bellman said it would take some time. He gave us a big umbrella and we walked the three blocks and arrived dry!
