"Bring your hot water bottle, sleeping bag and parka"
The room was freezing cold and the only source of "heat" was a combo air-conditioner/heater on the wall. Even on the highest heat setting, which we turned on as soon as we arrived at 4 pm and left on continuously, the room was absolutely freezing. The air blowing out of the heater was cool. I slept extremely poorly. It was also cheaply decorated and […] not the luxurious room I had been expecting based upon the pictures and write up. Being in the midst of downtown San Francisco was fun, but also extremely noisy and dirty, with feces and vomit on the streets, etc. Their parking policy is also pretty insane--they only have a curb for two cars out front and if that is full, you have to circle in the heart of downtown, frantically hoping for one of the cars to leave. The cost of keeping your car is $58 a day...otherwise you can park at another lot for a little cheaper and roll your luggage over the dirty sidewalks to get there...:) I would not come back. Better to stay farther away and take the Bart into downtown. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com

Love staying here. After the renovations are completed it'll be even better!!! The staff is wonderful!!Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Crazy loud but nice."
Love this hotel! Unbelieveable location and service by the staff! Just make sure you get the rooms on the interior and not on the outside with a view or over a street. Cause its like the windows are made of paper and the sound from the street is insanely loud at almost all hours. I'm a deep sleeper and it was annoying. I told them about this 20 years […] ago and they've done nothing about it. Still love the place and will go back. They're scheduled to renovate the rooms in 2015, so I hope they put in some new windows as well. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Don't stay here"
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed inAvis certifié Hotels.com
The hotel is about to go through a renovation. The noise at night was terrible and kept us up. There were several broken pieces of furniture in our room. The location was ideal though. The staff was very nice and the room was very clean.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Well worth it."
My fiancé and I very much enjoyed this hotel. I most definitely would have given this hotel a perfect rating had it not been for the noise from the street. Although this is not something that the hotel can help, it was still an issue. Earplugs greatly helped, though and everything else about the hotel was exceptional. I would definitely recommend this […] hotel and plan on staying there again. I'm just hoping I can get a room not located on the street. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com

"Cancelled my reservation!"
I have stayed here many many times for business. Most recently, I had a reservation paid for in full through Hotels.com. I was not able to stay the first night and when I arrived the second night, they had cancelled my entire reservation leaving me with no where to stay. The front desk manager was completely rude and unwilling to listen or help. I'm […] never staying here again. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Nice hotel in a great location"
Nice hotel in a great location. Rooms are being renovated, but unfortunately our room had not been. No view from the windows. Room was clean just old with wires hanging off the base boards. The bathroom was very clean and appeared to be renovated.Avis certifié Hotels.com
The hotel is in a great location by Union Square. The second you walk in the door, you feel welcome...my only complaint...parking is a ripoff...$54.00.....but, it is San Francisco!!! Great restaurant downstairs....great spot! A few of us stayed there after our company holiday party and we all loved it! This is not my first stay there....it's great!Avis certifié Hotels.com
We loved the old world Italian feeling of the hotel - no cookie-cutter modern glitz. We stayed 2 nights. First night, noisy outside - not from the cable car or people but from bottle recycling/dumping going on until 2:30 am. Second night all was quiet. Location of the hotel could not be more practical - perfect for visitors walking or taking public […] transport. Cable car ride to Ghiradelli Square area is lots of fun. The hotel is undergoing renovation which is apparent, so we hope it will turn into just another modern look. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. The service from one agent at the front desk was quite brusk, but the others were friendly and helpful. Fantastic restaurant on site (Kuletos) - don't miss that! There's an efficient caffe in the lobby if you have to wait for some reason or just for a quick Italian style breakfast. Overall, I would go back without hesitation. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com

"Villa Florence review"
right in the heart of Union Square, room was a bit noisy as it was Thanksgiving weekend. Maid knocked on my door at 8:00 am for some reason, I hate that! This hotel will be undergoing a massive remodel soon. The hallways had that old smell and needs an update badly.Avis certifié Hotels.com
This hotel is perfectly located... literally perfect... if you want to be in Union Square. The hotel is in the process of remodel I believe and once that happens it will be stunning. The lobby is wonderful. The rooms were comfortable but quite outdated and a little smelly from age... the bathroom was tiny...but overall the room rate was great and certainly […] worth it. We would stay here again for the value and location. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Convenient and Wonderful Service"
The hotel was located just a few steps from Union Square and the cable car pick up station. Very convenient! Hotel guests bent over backward to make our stay pleasant. They are undergoing some renovations. Room itself was very dusty and rundown. For the location and view I would stay there again!Avis certifié Hotels.com
Great location, easy access to food, transportation and downtown. Staff was great, very helpful and friendly. The coffee bar in the lobby is super convenient, no need to search for a Starbucks!Avis certifié Expedia
"Convenient hotel for tourism near convention ctr"
Person who checked us in manifested a genuine interest in our prime reason for the visit. We were escorted to our room and had all amenities explained on the way. The location proved excellent for our immediate tourist purpose. We had a pleasant breakfast with our collaborator in a convention session honoring my late brother and his contributions to […] the group's research. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
"Nice location, but terribly noisy at night"
I got the 702 which at a view on one of the corner of union square. There is no double window so it was extermely noisy inside the room. Moreover the AC was not properly fixed on the wall and so there was even more sound from outside going into the room. I told the desk about it before leaving but they didn't even try to give me some discount.Avis certifié Expedia
"Union Square Hotel"
Great location. The hotel is located right on Powell street, which is home to the two remaining cable car lines. If the sound of the cable car is going to be a problem for you, you might want to look elsewhere. My room was right on the corner of Powell and a side street. I barely heard the bells as the cars went by. I asked for a room on the street […] so that I would be able to hear the noise. Very close to lots of bars and restaurants and close to a BART train. "Great Location, wait for construction to finish."
When we got there, the floor we were staying on was under construction and every time we went to or left the room, we had to navigate scaffolding building materials, and workers. Customers shouldn't have to walk through an active construction zone. When we brought it up at the desk, the only response was a flippant, "San Francisco seems like it's always […] under construction." Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Everything was very pleasing except for the street noise. We were on the 7th floor and I had to wear ear plugs to drown out the noise from traffic all night longAvis certifié Expedia
"Safe, comfortable, convenient"

"Great Location for Union Square"
Room was nice and location is great but remodel in 2015 will make hotel better. Shower & hanging lights not clean and bad smell by the ground floor elevador from the restaurant.Avis certifié Expedia
Nice hotel. Had a lot of character inside and out. If you want a quiet room, ask for an interior room, and not one facing the street.Avis certifié Expedia

"Great location 2 blocks from Union Square and Bart"
Lovely staff, terrific restaurant. Hotel is older and quaint and about to undergo major renovation which will bring it to the 4 -5 star rating for sure! Would recommend and return.Avis certifié Expedia
Great hotel and location. Concierge service was superb!Avis certifié Hotels.com
Within walking distance of downtown shops and restaurants. Much needed renovations to be done in 2015. Not enough counter space in the bathroom. Parking is expensive and it takes a while to get car from valet.Avis certifié Expedia
Excellent location and helpful and pleasant staff but I wish I'd known the tired looking rooms and hallways were about to undergo a major renovation.Avis certifié Expedia
"Great location near Union Square."
Spent one night. Very nice 'old' hotel. Rooms are very small but we did not stay in the room long; just to sleep/shower. Hotel staff was great. Looks like they are going to remodel soon and the photos and samples are on display. It will be a great improvement since the decor is dated.Avis certifié Expedia
"Older but nice"
Our stay at Villa Florence was very nice. Staff is friendly, knowledgable, and accommodating. King Suite room was spacious and bed was comfortable. Obviously an older hotel, but well-kept. Hotel is planning room upgrades during 2015 which will move it to "excellent" in all categories for me.Avis certifié Expedia
"Nice Hotel in a Great Spot"

"Great location, looking forward to remodel."
Get away to see Chicago at theatre. First room we got had bath sink that had problem with spout on sink and pop up stopper, carpet looked a little past its time to to replace. Asked for another room and was promptly moved to larger room that was in better shape. Lobby had display of upcoming remodel of room interiors so should be better soon. Great […] service and location as always! Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Very small rooms, but amazing location."
The rooms are extremely small for the price. There's barely any room to turn around in the bathroom. However, the location is great. The hotel is old and needs renovation, but they are in the process of getting that done. I'd give this an average rating.Avis certifié Hotels.com

"Lovely hotel, small beds"
I came with my mother and aunt for the weekend. The hotel is very conveniently located, modern and clean. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. My only complaints were that the beds, while very comfortable, were quite small (I thought the room booked had 2 queens but were definitely 2 doubles) and the room faced a brick wall, with no natural […] light. The lighting in the room was good for evenings but in the morning it was pretty dark in there even with all of the lights on. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Upper eschalon of mediocrity"
Hoping for a luxury boutique hotel for a girls weekend getaway, found the Villa to be a mediocre stay in comparison with other choices in the area. Service was somewhat cold and rude. The guest rooms, which are in the process of being updated, are tired and worn and dark and not at all luxurious.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"unimpressed and disappointing"
Our room was old and the floors creaked when you walked. For what we paid, very unimpressed. We hadnstayed here 3 times before and enjoyed ourselves. this stay was very disappointing.Avis certifié Hotels.com
They do a good job. It is a great place to stay in Union Square. It is very quiet and tucked away from the Hustle and Bustle of the square. On of my favorite places to eat is down stairs. I have stayed there 3 or 4 times. The only complaint I have is the beds run small. I thing the Queen bed is really a Full and, I am not a very big person.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Clean nice sized rooms. Great location. A bit worn but in the process of remodel.Avis certifié Expedia

"A little gem"
My stay was only one night to attend a business meeting and leave early the next morning. The hotel is very will located and a little gem. I had one of the renovated rooms and it was lovely. A delicious continental breakfast is available from a coffee bar in the lobby. The only word of caution is the bathroom is very small. Well decorated but tiny - […] one person. This is not unusual in SF where older buildings have been renovated but a large person should ask for the largest bath available. I will go back. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Comfortable hotel in a very good location. Facility is a bit dated, e.g., the carpet needs to be replaced, but overall a very good value.Avis certifié Hotels.com
