"Ready for an update"
The hotel is in an ideal location. The rooms are large and comfortable overall. The bathroom is a huge room, but all the fixtures are small, resulting in a lot of open space.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Excellent service!Avis certifié Hotels.com
We enjoyed our stay there our room was a nice size and everything was great, had some street noise but we didn't mind it as we were right in the middle of thingsAvis certifié Hotels.com
It was a nice hotel in proximity to Union Square and within walking distance from attractions. The lobby was nice but the rooms were uncomfortable, dingy, and bathrooms were tiny. I felt the rates were extremely high for location based only. The amenities could have been updated. I would probably not stay at this hotel again. It just was not comfortable […] for me or my wallet. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Fine, but expensive"
Was pretty much as advertised. Quiet, which is my number one requirement in a hotel.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Great all around. Only thing is to know that when you valet park, it takes 20-35 mins to get the car to you.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"not what it seems"
I was very disappointed with this hotel. forst we waited for 20 min in or car for the valet service. The junior suit is a dump. it was advertised with a view, the view was other hotel rooms, there were not robes or slippers as advertised. I ended up paying $100 extra bucks. from the "fine" print. Then when checking out we waited another 20 min for our […] car. our AC unit in the room dripped water all night long. I will never stay here again, Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Great location but the rooms were old and our view was a wall two meters away!!Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Would stay again."
Friendly staff, old building but very modern inside. No onsite parking, cost $53 to vallet park. I would stay again.Avis certifié Hotels.com

"Old World charm & service in the heart of San Fran"
Our original hotel was a total disaster, so we needed to find alternate accommodation fast. Luckily for us we found Villa Florence on Hotels.com A beautiful old hotel, right in the heart of San Francisco. Clean comfortable rooms, comfortable beds, with trolley & bus stops right outside. My only criticism would be the old A/C in the room was very noisy […] & the outlook from our window was of a dark, not too clean back alley. Being so close to everything SF has to offer is a big plus. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Convenient location, nice hotel"
Great, convenient location off of Union Square, if you know what you are getting into - that area of town isn't for everyone. The hotel was very clean with a nice lobby. The restaurants looked good although we didn't try either. I reserved a room with two beds, but they were out of them when I checked in - a roll-up was provided, and that sufficed, […] but wasn't what I paid for, so just be warned. I overhead the clerk telling a customer over the phone that she couldn't guarantee a room with two beds either - I'm not a fan of that policy. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Close to Union Square"
Nice hotel very close to Market Street, Powell for the Cable cars, and Union Square. Very convenient, with friendly staff.Building is a bit old, and so are the rooms, but it's comfortable enough. Only concern is the cost of valet/overnight parking which, at $54/night is a bit expensive.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Fabulous location, close to BART station and Union Square. Staff was pleasant. Room was fine. Only complaint was the wide variation room temperature; the air conditioner would blast cold air while it was running, then let the room get uncomfortably warm until it turned on again. Woke up sweating several times at night.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Awesome Customer Service"
Great Hotel, Great location, but best of all is the customer service, everyone is so helpful and they'll do anything they can to make your stay the best.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Great location! Valet parking very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Sister's wedding - close to venue"
I really enjoyed the hotel - it reminds me of a New York Boutique. Kind of Older but very nice and very clean. The staff is very nice and the in-lobby coffee shop is so convenient.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Great location, friendly staff. Smaller rooms, but as expected for an old SF building right downtown. The only issue we had was an extra $100 nightly charge on our debit card for incidentals that we were not told about at check in. The charges were reversed, but it took a few days.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Great location for shopping"
The hotel is in great location , right next to union square , in the middle of shopping centers areas great for people that love to shop. Hotel service is good. However the AC did not work in our room so it was kinda warm However it was great in general.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Good, but what out for extra fees"
We pretty much liked the hotel, location is great and general conditions too...it only kind of smells weird. What i didn't like at all was that at check out i was charged an extra USD20 per night, plus all the taxes for "hotel administration fee". Isn't the hotel profiting from the rate and services they provide? why charge that and not specify it? […] not funny at all Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Nice stay, perfect location. But really small room and small bed.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Hotel is over priced. Limited plug ins in the room,no shelving in the bathroom and no magnifying mirror. Not a good set up for business travelers. Also $66 to park your car? That is the highest rate I have ever been charged. Makes what seems to be a good rate an expensive stay! Wouldn't return.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Convenient location, near BART and Union Square"
Very comfortable and quiet room. Great location (half block from Union Square), near great restaurants and shopping. Easy taxi ride to opera. Refrigerator and coffee (but no tea) in room. Hair dryer did not work, but it was replaced within a few minutes. Great service.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Daniel at the front desk is terrific.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Boutique Hotel Comfortable beds, Great Location"
Delighted when we arrived as I had enjoyed the Restaurant on a previous trip. The location is second to none, the newly renovated rooms are well appointed and very clean and comfortable beds. The rooms are smallish but well appointed. A little noisy as you are in an older building and it is a major city, but this is very typical of the Boutique hotel […] scene i SF. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will ensue that I stay next time in SF Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Nice people but the facility is BEAT. Can't clean old, moldy rooms. Amenities are none. Old is OK but dead is dead.Avis certifié Hotels.com
The toilet became plugged during our stay and we had to call twice in order for someone to come and repair it. Once that was resolved, everything went well until check out. The person attending us at the front desk decided to jump into the conversation me and my husband were having while walking down to the lobby. He decided to correct my grammar, misunderstood […] something we were talking about and called me "grumpy." Then, after paying, he bid me farewell by asking me to be "sociable" during the rest of my stay in SF. I did not want to explain to a total stranger the topic of our conversation nor that my husband and I were joking around with one another. It was a very awkward situation. He was very rude, arrogant, and tacky. I have never been treated so poorly or insulted by hotel staff anywhere before. I expected better service from a location that charges $300 a night. Never again... Yuck. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
"Good location, but really noisy"
Villa Florence is in a great location. Easy to get to Union Square and the BART. Supposedly a great restaurant downstairs (but I didn't eat there). However, the noise from the street was terrible. I am a very sound sleeper and I was continually awakened by what sounded like bottle recycling trucks emptying their loads in a bin directly below the hotel. […] Street traffic was very noisy. Also, the rooms were especially small so that it was impossible to eat a take-out meal at the desk and watch TV. Unfortunately I will pass on the opportunity to stay here again. "Nice hotel in the heart of Union Square."
Nice hotel in the Union Square shopping district. The streetcar was just outside the hotel door. We could walk to Chinatown. Not far from Fisherman's Wharf. The only negative thing is that we had a great view, but with a cost of facing Powell Street which can be noisy during the night. Can't have it all.Avis certifié Expedia

It was a spur of the moment decision to stay in the city and we could not have picked a better place. Walking distance to anything you want to see in Union Square. Had a great time and this is a beautiful property!Avis certifié Hotels.com

the location hotelis close to public transportation - cable car,Historic MUNI F Line and the BART which will get you to all the sights. lots of street activity. "Villa Florence in San Francisco."
Location is great, right in down town SF. The hotel wanted us to pay extra for "oversized" car which was silly because we found a parking ramp close to the hotel for much better price. It seems like the hotel has not been renovated for a very long time: there are layers upon layers of pain in the interior of the room, peels and cracks in the paint. […] Perhaps they are trying to make it look like an old villa in Florence with this rustic look but instead it just looks outdated. The bathroom has been renovated recently, it has a new sink and tub and new fixtures. The most unappealing was the hotel's carpet: it is so dated! The room and the bathroom were very small in size but the beds were comfortable. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Position is excellent. Service ok. But hotel very old needs an date desperately very old smell No view all of my windows look over old airconditions and other windows. Shouldn't be rated 4+ stars I would rate it 3 &that's generous.Avis certifié Hotels.com
The hotel's location is great, just a block away from the BART station which makes transportation very easy. There are other hotels on Powell street but it tends to become a hike a few blocks up. The condition of the hotel is not the greatest, though. The hotel doesn't have the best layout and I often felt like I was navigating a maze to get to my room. […] The room itself is a bit old and not that big. All in all, the price was a bit too much for the condition of the hotel, but the location is super good. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
"Excellent Location, and all amenities"
Very nice stay. Alot of construction. Our window faced it. Workers quiet as possible, but noise in early AM was loud. Turned on TV to distract. Worked reasonably well.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Awesome stay, Strategically located but..."
If you are a light sleeper, don't take the street facing rooms. And if you are a bit claustrophobic, the inner facing rooms won't do either, they face a wall and therefore there's not much sunlight in those rooms, making the rooms feel even smaller. We were sent to one of those inner 'quiet' rooms when we arrived and the fridge was noisy.. They transfered […] us right away without any fuss. They only had the street facing ones available which they warned us would be noisy and we didn't mind. We didn't like the fact that there was no view or enough light in the quiet one anyway. But, that being said, they were not kidding, all night long (during the weekend) , there was noise... People shouting, music (some really bad), constant honking (impatient drivers), Not to mention the trash collection at 6 in the morning to top it all or the construction noise currently going on near macy's. Overall we didn't mind the noise since we are all heavy sleepers (or perhaps it was from the long tiring day) . The room was cosy and not big. But that's what you get to be on Powell street where the action is. Oh and bear in mind that the hotel has no parking. Just 2 temporary spots in front of the building for loading/unloading. Or sometime across the street if you are lucky. Otherwise, we had a good stay with a toddler. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Can't beat the location!"
In the heart of Union Square with great service. I was a bit skeptical at the beginning as I learned this Hotel was built in 1908 and in all honesty the carpet all around in the lobby and rooms ( I had to change room the first night due to foul smell) was pretty beat up. The service and attendance of personnel was impeccable though. They responded to […] my call at 2:30 a.m. and showed me three rooms which I selected one for rest of our stay. Everyone was very helpful from the moment we checked in to the second we checked out. Edward (Hector) and Nabi went the extra mile to assure all is perfect with our stay. Still the location of the hotel was quite convenient as you are seconds away from Macy's, Starbucks, a Major Walgreen store and dozens of restaurant. Not to mention Cable car is less than 5 minutes away. I had breakfast and lunch at their restaurant and they matched the service we received at the hotel. Overall a very pleasant and fun package. We will be back! Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
the hotel was great except one major inconvience being only one elevator working and a very small one (max 6 people). the service was great and the location was perfect the price was reasonable in comparison to other hotels in the area. San Francisco is very expensive for hotels on a whole. i would stay there again hopefully the elevators both work […] . Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
If you are not familiar with San Francisco be aware that this hotel does not have a parking garage, it is in a very busy street. The room was a deluxe room very small comparing to others we've stayed in san francisco and the person who we checked in with was not very friendly or helpful. One of the elevators was not working, so it was an inconvenience […] we had to wait since it was the only elevator for the whole hotel. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com

This was our second stay at this hotel......loved it again! The staff was very friendly, everything was very clean, there is a great restaurant right there adjacent to the hotel lobby.....all in all a great weekend experience. We will make this our San Francisco home away from home in the future. BBAvis certifié Hotels.com
The rooms look WAY bigger online. After getting to the shack of a room, it was right on the street and super noisy. Nowhere to park so you have to valet your car(which is $50/night + tax + hidden fees;)) Upon arrival, they would not accept cash for a $200 'incidental charge' just in case you damage the room. Oh and even if you DON'T damage the room, […] they charge you anyway. When checking out, I asked for the $200 back because I knew there was no damage to the room. Someone has to check the mini bar 'just in case' in order to get this refund. They had the manager speak to me after inspecting my room for the mini bar, and she accused me of smoking in the room. They charged me a $300 'smoking fee' + tax + hidden fees;) I could not check out unless I paid these fees. Total cost for 2 nights? $1200 + tax PLUS.......hidden fees;) Enjoy! "Okay hotel on busy Powell Street"
The rooms were very musty and stuffy. I ran the window air conditioner all day to try to remedy the smell. I had a room facing Powell Street which is very noisy and between the sounds of the cable cars, horns honking and people talking loud or yelling it was not quiet until about 2am. This is a typical old San Francisco Hotel with a tiny bathroom that […] only holds one person. I will not stay here again. I've stayed in lower rated hotels in SF that were nicer. I've also stayed in hotels in San Francisco that were about the same age but refurbished and more pleasant. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Fantastic little gem"
I feel pretty good about finding this little gem of a hotel right in the action of Union Square. I would definitely stay here again! The rooms are small, like in most major metropolitan areas but extremely clean and the staff was beyond friendly and helpful. Loved it and I wished I could have stayed a few more nights.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Definitely worth it overall"
The location is perfect. This hotel is definitely the best overall in it's price range. The room is big enough, and the area is very safe and so close to union square and the Bart station. Also right in front is the cable car station. The only slight drawback is no views but to me that doesn't matter.Avis certifié Hotels.com
