Room was good-sized. Clean. Good shower, comfortable bed, and window a/c was effective. Most rooms have a scenic view of a wall - but it makes it quiet for sleeping. 3/4 lock from Union Square. In mid-July, the street in front was very, very crowded from 8am-11pm. Unloading can be a hassle. The area out front only is 2 parking spaces large - and Powell […] St. is so busy, you can't double-park to wait for the loading area to open up. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Best mistake I ever made. . ."
I made a last minute booking. I needed two suits for two nights and Villa Florence seemed to offer these at a good rate. This is a great hotel -- Victoria greeted us at the reception and on seeing it was my girlfriends birthday ordered us a birthday cake and as if that was not enough sent a bottle of champagne to the room. We never mentioned anything, […] she just saw the date on her drivers license. The rooms, or the suites, were great -- Have no idea what others had issue with, the rooms and the bathrooms, these were plenty big enough. It reminded me of an Italian hotel in Italy, real depth and history to the building, the furnishings were real and solid, they’d seen some years but that only added to the comfort level as far as I was concerned. If you want a flatpack Ikea room then you might be better suited to a Hilton or a Marriot, but this is the real thing, it’s like the Chateau Marmont in LA, or the what the Gramercy Park Hotel in NYC used to be like. But what makes this hotel stand out is the staff -- It wasn’t just Victoria that was great, they all worked so hard to make our stay enjoyable and seamless, nothing was a problem. Great experience overall and this will be our first choice when we next go to SF. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Just ok...a little high priced for the experience"
Decor was lovely, the rooms are very small. Recent updates are obvious from the comfy beds to the fresh paint, but the electrical outlets (ALL of them) were loose. It was tough to charge electronics and dry my hair. Bathrooms are very small and don't have curved shower curtain rods, so the curtain sticks to you the whole time you're showering. (Yes, […] things this small gross me out.). The staff was ok, not super friendly, not rude. Lobby and restaurant areas are lovely. Very convenient location, but colleagues stayed a few doors down at a nicer facility for less. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Probably best bang for buck. Best Location and nice hotel for a decent price. Good for multiple people in a room. Service excellentAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Not bad, but DO NOT DRIVE HERE"
If you bring your car, forget it. Drop off and valet on one of the busiest streets in SF is simply not happening. Either leave your car at JW Marriott (which is what the hotel uses) 3 blocks away or park at Union Square (1/2 block). The hotel is dated, obviously from 80 or more years ago. Small rooms, window aircos, odd configuration, tiny elevators. […] But it is clean, well kept and updated. The price is excellent, and if shopping is your thing, you are right on Union Square and 1 block from cable cars and BART. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
The location is nice and the staff was 5 star+ . I know its a city hotel but the room could have been cleaner. The room. And bathroom were bothold in a bad way. Stained , rust , not just nice old.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"heart of city"
perfect place for sf stay....just remember that the tax adds another fifty to stay....great place had a little hiccup with reservation regarding hotel.com and hotel when i first showed up but took 30 minutes and i was in my room....great classic sf rooms...I've stayed in the hotel before always a great experience...go giantsAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Rooms aren't up to par"
The hotel itself was really nice with good restaurants downstairs. The rooms just were not up to par. They desperately need to renovate the rooms. New carpet would go a long way. The walls were scuffed up, you could see dirt all along the baseboards, the bed was not comfortable, etc. The charm of the hotel was great, the rooms just need to be renov […] ated. This is a superb hotel in a great location, especially if you are a tourist who loves to shop. Friendly staff too.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Paint peeling off the walls in bathroom"
Disappointing...paint peeling off walls in bathroom,$57 per night to park, glass during glasses in the room, we all know from documentary tv that those glasses never get washed! 1 bar of soap to be used for both sink and shower. No frills, no comp coffee in lobby, gloomy decor,I would not return!Avis certifié Hotels.com
Perfect location and great service from the bell men to the front desk, would definitely visit again and again.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Location was excellent. Toiletries were not re-filled. Didnt get the right number of towels when requested (happend 2-3 times).Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Not at all satisfied."
Our stay at the hotel Villa Florence was not at all satisfying. The hotel rooms were very small and the bathroom in our mini suite was very dirty. The walls had black mold on them and they had other filthy smudge on them. Very gross!!! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The parking service is $60 per day and is very terrible. Takes an hour […] for your car to be brought to you after you request it. I hope I get a refund for having to stay in rooms with black mold on the walls. Be aware of all this before you decide to stay in this hotel. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com

"great location good quality hotel"
excellent location. no rollaway the first night but they accomodated my 7 year old with extra bedding as we were 5 in a room. switched us to a different bigger and better room the next night. kids loved it.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Comfortable and convenient"
Our room was large relative to our expectations. Although it was somewhat noisy out in the street, we had asked for an interior facing room, and it was very quiet. Staff were helpful and cheerful.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Little gem in the middle of it all"
This is a charming "boutique" hotel, right on Powell Street so plenty of round the clock action nearby. They have done a nice job with a very old building...the room was very clean, small (as one would expect any time the word "boutique" is in the hotel description) but roomy enough to get around the comfortable king size bed. Our room was on the back […] side of the building, which only has a view of a brick wall about six feet away - but very quiet because of that so we appreciated it. Staff was great, very accommodating. This hotel has all the amenities I need - good service, good location, an excellent restaurant attached, small coffee/cocktail bar in the lobby. The elevators are VERY small and there are only two of them. One broke while we were there and we were staying on the 6th floor! The location is really great for walking around and seeing the sites. The restaurant in the lobby is terrible -- stay away. There are so many great places to eat where the food won't be nearly as expensive and the service […] will be faster. Other than that, the hotel was very clean and the rooms were very well taken care of. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
We stayed at the Villa Florence and it was a great experience. The hotel is in a great location to shopping and the staff were, by far some of the friendliest staff I've had the pleasure to meet in a long time.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Need to improve a bit."
My only concern was the room size.We got two rooms. One was a single room that had a king bed it was big and comfortable, but the other room was a double bed size full that made looks the room very small and was hard to walk around, the bathroom in this room was very tinny and difficult to move almost claustrophobic. The worst part was the AC unit, one of […] the switch control was broken and really hard to move. The AC on the room above us was leaking and all the water drops were landing on our window AC unit making a noise that was very hard to sleep with. The carpets on the rooms should be reinforce with more padding since we could hear all the steps and noises coming from the rooms above.Other than that the staff was very friendly and professional. We were in rooms 309 and 320. Great location! Walking distance to many stores and shopping mall. Beds were comfy and room was an adequate size. Bathroom was a bit small. Enjoyed being close to the busy street and it didn't interfere with my sleeping. Staff was friendly and quick check in and out.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Room Without a View"
Villa Florence is a beautiful boutique hotel, with an incredibly friendly staff. I had the junior suite, which was quite sizable. The bathrooms are tiny, modestly decorated, and very clean. Kuletos, the attached Italian Bistro is EXCELLENT. One Con: The windows look right into other rooms and the view is basically an alley of other rooms. Because of […] that alone, I would say the room was over priced. I had to keep all of the shutters closed at all times to maintain any privacy because you could see others in their rooms plain as day, and vice versa, which was kind of awful. The hotel itself is really convenient to shopping, nightlife, and tourist attractions, with plenty of $$$ self-parking. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"A Pleasant Experience"
The hotel is located in Union Square, a lively area with restaurants, shopping and cable car close by. The hotel restaurant, Kuleto's is excellent.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"trying way to hard"
The pictures of the hotel, are somewhat misleading. Its your typical union square hotel smallish rooms, the carpet was stained, fingerprints on the walls.Plus side you have your own bathroom. Most of the staff was helpful except for the woman that checked us in, she was rude and not helpful. You are truly paying for the location, next time we will stay […] somewhere else. "Not worth the money"
The hotel was ok buy not worth the money. The floors were dirty in the room and beds were very uncomfortable. He telephone was broken as well. The atmosphere was great and very close to the trolley and a Starbucks.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Great location, charming hotel in SF"
The location could not be better, however, if you are driving, and valeting your car, Powell street is a nightmare to leave your car at. It's better to park in local parking garages (cheaper too), and walk to the hotel. The hotel is charming, clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, and has a very nice lobby. It's very close to Chinatown, the cable cars, […] shopping, restaurants, and to the financial district. There is a nice restaurant next to the hotel as well. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Horrible Service from Bell hop"
The hotel was beautiful and the location is perfect however, you may need to reconsider your staff. They're a little slow and not very friendly. Specifically, the bell hop that was on duty about 2:30PM on Saturday June 21 with dark, wavy hair. He was very rude and snarky in the way he spoke to us about taking our bags up to our room. Management should […] definitely have a talk with him. He ruined for my for that reason only. The hotel itself was perfect. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Convenient, food there is awesome, breakfast at the coffee bar is nice though the panini was a bit over priced.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Rooms were nice, although ours was extremely "bijoux", and location and common areas were good. The hotel contracts out the valet service. They will only hire one guy and he has to take and retrieve all vehicles by himself. Garage is not onsight, so takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes to get your car. Additionally, if you do not call ahead for the […] car, good luck finding anyone at the desk to help you as he is out getting vehicles. Therefore, if you need a cab, good luck. There is no one at the bell desk. I hailed a cab for one of the guests who told me they had been 40 minutes late for a wedding because they had to wait so long for help. When they are there they tell you walk up the street to another hotel to get a cab. Thank goodness we did that rather than try to wait and drive to the restaurant for dinner. Would never have made our reservation. We had friends from Ohio with us and sitting in a lobby for over 40 is unacceptable. Too many other hotels with valets and garages. Will not stay at this hotel again. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Great Location and Friendly People"
We loved loved loved it!!! Sure, it's an old hotel but the upkeep has been superb! The staff is wonderful, I especially liked the guy at the coffee shop on main floor. Very personable!!! The girls at the register desk were very informative and the valet' guy knew lots of nice places to see! It's perfectly located 1/2 blk from Union Square (with underground […] parking for $36 all day!) The cable cars and buses run up and down the street of Geary and they'll take you to Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, North Beach, etc. We plan on staying her next year too!!! It was a fantastic birthday trip!!! Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"First trip to San Fran"
The hotel was centrally located, right in front of the cable car drop off. Also, if you like to shop, there is a ton of shopping near by. The hotel it self was nice, we got a suite and it was spacious. Only thing that was tiny, was the bathroom. The restaurant they have on the first floor, looked busy at all times. We finally tried it on Sunday morning […] for brunch, and it was not good at all. I can't speak for anything else, but service and brunch was not good. Hotel overall was great. It was a great location. Room was on the back of the hotel. No view, but quiet and that is what we requested. Charges for parking and taxes do add up, making the overnight stay much more than the base rate. But that applies to all hotels. We had a great visit and it was a nice room. It worked fine for us and our two kids.Avis certifié Expedia

Excellent location. Clean and well appointed with all the items necessary for business and leisure travel.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Would have been an excellent stay except I got ZERO sleep the entire night. To specific, I was asleep for 30 minutes when a very loud jazz band from a local club woke me up and played for at least 2 hours. Still not back to sleep in the middle of the night, the garbage truck started making the rounds making all kinds of noise. Then early morning, the […] street car started running. And there was a bright light comIng through the drapes all night. So, $275 later after the taxes, fees and $50 parking fee, I got 30 minutes of sleep and was worthless the whole next day. "Great location, beautiful hotel."
One night stay. The hotel is beautiful and though it is right on the main street, we did not hear any road noise. The window unit for heat and air was a problem. The button to turn it down was broken and it would not operate well. It also was loud, when it turned on and off all night. The room was large and comfortable otherwise.Avis certifié Expedia

"Solid hotel on Union Square"
Villa Florence is a good hotel located on Union Square. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though as is usual in many boutique San Francisco hotels, rather small for the price. More a place to stay if you don't plan to spend a great deal of time in your room. The hotel staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The hotel restaurant is OK, […] but little more than that. The hallways all have an old musty smell to them, implying it is well past time to clean or replace the carpets. With those caveats in mind, I still would recommend the place and stay there again. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia

I stayed only one night, and was out and about most the time but the location was great I found. It's mostly shopping around but easy access to everything.
