Ocean Shore Resort - Daytona Beach

Pool was not very clean, chairs around pool area were broken, the room was very nice even though we did not get the room we booked the first night. I overall enjoyed my stay.

The condition of hotel was so bad. The bed don't have fitted sheets. Breakfast was horrible, all cereal is with sugar , none of plain cereal for "adults" and so many more..

GREAT Location--watched the sunrise from the balcony of our room. Listened to the waves all night long. However, you needed muscles to open the patio door, and while the room was very clean, it was quite dated. The staff was friendly. The place was clean. Hotels.com did a lousey job booking the room. It is a cheap place to stay and you get your monies worth. Nice store. The breakfast bar was cheap too, but over all had a blast.

The phone didn't work, the sink backed up the bathroom sink only ran hot water. We never saw the maid the entire time we were there. It stunk and the kids pool was just a black hole. Nasty, Nasty nasty!

It looks like lots of money went into refurbishing the hotel lobby and none made it to the rooms. Table lamps were not plugged in. A/C did not work - had to switch rooms. Balcony door did not open more than 4 inches which was ok since we spotted a man on our balcony at about 9 am climbing from the lobby roof to our balcony and cutting across from one […] balcony to another. Ive stay here b4 but it was in feb 2010. Its was cold...but this time it was great....had my son wit me...he loved the pool..i would def recommend this hotel 2 everyone...

My husband and I have stayed several times we always have a great time In Daytona. The hotel is located within walking distance of everything.

It sucked. The staff very unfriendly. Not at all accomodating to us. Was told I couldn't have more towels so I had to go to the front desk. Would have just called, but Noone answers. Overall the entire stay sucked. Not worth what I payed.

It was very close to all that we needed to see for bike week

This hotel has gotten a unfair shake. After reading the reviews I was really worried about our stay. However we live 45 mins away so worse come to worse we could have just went home. We stayed the night with no problems at all. If you are the type who likes to complain you could pick this place apart and have a field day with nit picky things. However […] if you just want to stay on the ocean in a decent clean room and aren't expecting a luxury suite. this place is just fine. The view was beautiful. Right on the Ocean. The pool was big and clean. Although the hot tub was out of order. It seems that they are trying to improve the property as it had a fresh coat of paint in the room and hallways. One elevator worked fine. The beds were not gross, they did not have fitted sheets, but the pillows and mattresses seemed new and clean. No signs of bedbugs. I actually took the beds apart and checked. In fact we didn't see any bugs at all. Not even a spider or an ant- no roaches and no palmettos. The shower did kinda suck, (low pressure) but the toilet flushed fine. There were no chairs on the balcony, but the door was not that difficult to open, It seemed they were repairing these doors in other rooms. The spring breakers were loud and rowdy next door the walls are certainly thin. But we slept fine and would certainly stay here again, don't let the bad reviews freak you out too bad! Lisez la suite

Sliding door would not function. When I told Room service ,was told, NO ENGLISH. Room service was a towel handed to you at door. No coffee when we g ot to breakfast at 8:45. Powdered coffee mate also.There were street people below our room during entire stay. You could hear other rooms talking trough bathroom vent that did not work. Great place to stay

Do NOT rent this hotel! I booked it thru hotels.com, and the staff at hotels.com were great- I am very appreciative of them helping me get a refund- as I did not even spend one night in the Ocean Shore Resort after walking into the room that I had booked. So so sad!!!

Heat wasn't working, no blankets, sliding door had a large draft, bed very soft, TV remote didn't work and you actually had to move furniture to plug and unplug the TV...no off & on button. Shower head came off during shower also. Will not go back!!!

did not match conditions of pictures. sliding door was very hard to open. did get a free upgrade. definitely not a resort. maybe stay again

The hotel itself is in a great location, only a 5 min. walk to the hear of Dayton beach. The room was large, but the patio door was almost impossible to open, the toilet paper holder was missing the crossbar that holds the tp., so it keep falling on the floor. This hotel is very BAD. The pictures that are used to advertise this hotel LIE. The room we stayed in was old and nasty. The lamps in the room had no bulbs in them. The toilet ran all night long. The hotel DOES NOT have HEAT so you get to freeze your butt off if its cold which it was last weekend when we were there. The carpet in the room had burn marks […] all over it from someone burning it with an iron. There were webs all over the place and bugs. The bed was very very bad. the price was good but would not stay any longer than 3 nights the room we stayed in was a bit dated and the carpet old.

I stayed one night at this Hotel for my first Turkey Rod Run. The view was great. The overall room was in bad need of some TLC. The bedding was very poor. The pillows were very stained with no pillow covers under the pillow cases {lots of germs in these pillows] The comforter had black mold stains. No coffee in room or lobby,toilet did not flush no one came to repair it.

I booked this hotel to go to the Turkey Rod Run Car Show. I didn't read the reviews until after I had booked it. I probably wouldn't have booked it if I had read them. I found the staff to be friendly, My room was on 4th floor was clean, sheets were ok. It wasn't musty. This hotel was not bad for the cost of the room. Of course if you wanted better you would be paying a lot more for the room, we got what we paid for and were satisfied!

I'm trying to think of a couple of positive things to say about this hotel, and the only things I can come up with is location and it was right on the ocean. The hotel is super run down, it needs a lot of work. Peeling paint, chipped drywall, carpets are dirty, and it smelled musty. It said that we had 2 queen beds, but they were only full. They use […] flat sheets instead of fitted. (which is super annoying) Only some of the balconies had chairs. The pool looked okay. It wasn't heated. The kiddie pool was in obvious disrepair. When we arrived and went in to the lobby it seemed that the "resort" was going to be ok. Lobby was very clean and nice. Then we checked in and were sent through a door to the room and it was like stepping into another place altogether. Smelled old and stuffy in the hallway. Went into the room and it was marginally clean however, tried to go out on the […] balcony and it took two of us to open the sliding door. Ended up moving to an ocean view room because of the noise from the hot rods going by. On the way to our "upgraded" room the maid cart was blocking the hallway. I asked her politely if she could move the cart and she proceeded to give me a dirty look and tell me that I should go the other way because the elevators at the other end worked too. I told her I wasn't going to the elevator and she begrudgingly moved the cart. We arrived in our new room only to find the same issue with the sliding glass door. When we were finally able to open it we stepped out onto the balcony to a beautiful view of an algae filled mini-pool. Needless to say, the place is in dire need of some renovation and general upgrade. We din't stay here last year cause some one wrote about a bug we stayed at the Hilton, cock roach ran up the wall there Ha Ha This served the purpose shower and bed if you don't expect 5 star this will do.

The front desk guy was extremely nice and helpful. The room was horrible! The sliding glass door to the balcony would not shut all the way, there was standing water in the bathroom floor. The phone did not work, there was no remote to the tv. The room was VERY humid and musty smelling. Everything felt wet. It felt dryer outside than in the room.

Housekeeping poor, looked like sliding glass doors have not been cleaned for a long time. Cleaned room myself. Did not change bedding daily either.

Was very disappointed with this hotel. The pictures posted dont represent the current condition the hotel is in. The rates were affordable and i guess i got what i paid for, but i could never stay at this facility again.

This hotel, while right on the beach, was in poor condition. The halls reeked of cigarette smoke, and the room was mildewed and nasty. The refrigerator was rusted, the carpet stained, there was a large crack in the ceiling and wall, and there was no furniture to put clothes in, not even a suitcase rack to place the suitcases on. The bathroom was disgusting, […] and the personnel were less than friendly. One of my friends came out to see us while we were there and they threatened to tow his vehicle! The Ocean Shore Resort was no resort. It was an very not so keep motel that was charding to much for what they actually had to offer. I would not recommend the place to anyone.

Overall this is just a crummy spring break hotel. The sheets were just laid on the bed, they were not fitted so they kept falling off revealing the nasty stained matress. The pillows cases did not smell clean at all, there were dirty wash cloths laying in my shower from the gusts before me. I booked then read the reveiws. I was worried about it but pleasantly surprised. It was'nt nearly as bad as they make it out to be & I would stay again.

The rooms were clean, but mattresses could use replacing. Beachfront location is great. Not very close to many eating places, although on bus/trolley stop. Could use information about public transportation Pool was nice. Breakfast met needs of family. If just going to the beach and pool, good place to stay. We recently spent two nights in an oceanfront room and had a wonderful time there. The pool was nice and warm and very big plus deep enough for diving. The room was a typical hotel room and was clean and very cold. The sliding glass door was heavy and you have to push/pull to open and shut it but it needs to be for security reasons. I read some of the […] bad reviews but we had no problem with roaches or bugs and everything in the room worked fine. There were no hairdryers but who needs one at the beach. The room did get damp if you leave the sliding glass door open and this happens at any beachfront home. The new owners were from Hungary and spoke little English and were very hardworking. They have fixed most of the problems and have done a great job of improving the conditions there. For the price you can not beat it and you will have a very pleasant stay there. As for any roaches we did see one in the breakfast room but these are the flying kind and are impossible to get rid of completely in Florida. Overall I will recommmend this as an economical place to have a beach vacation at Daytona. One warning, my son's truck was towed away because I forgot to get another parking pass for him and the parking lot is strickly patrolled due to daytime beach traffic and illegal parking. Enjoy the pool and the beach and spend your extra money on something fun! Dirty not well kept, room smelled like mold

It depends on what kind of person you are whether or not you stay here. If you are a picky person then this place is not for you. If you are a person like me that dont mind really what the place looks like as long as it has a bed and AC then please do stay here. The cheap price really tells it all. But the beds were nice, the tv worked, the AC worked, the room was a little small but was clean. We stayed for two nights and after the first night the cleaning staff did come and clean/make the beds. I had my wife, my two children and me and it suited our needs. I specifically liked one thing about the hotel that stood out to me. At night while your down on the beach you turn around and look at the motel and it has multi-color lights on it that make it stand out from all the other motels around. To me that was a great idea. This was the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. Room smelled wet and molded, spiders and bugs were in the room. Had to buy bug spray and air fresher in order to stay in there. Would have let (not even caring if I got a refund) but couldn't find any rooms available in the area. This hotel definitely needs remodeling.

1st-of all dont go by the pictures, they must have been taken when it was brand new because it looked nothing like the pictures when I got there. 2nd-I couldnt hardly understand the guy working there and when I went up to my room there was already someone in there. So then I had to go all the way back down to the front desk and he gave me another room, […] but it was a smoking room that stunk something terrible so I had to go back down again. He proceeded to tell me that that was all he had left and that he cant control if people smoke in the rooms or not. Well after 5mins of complaining he finally gave me a nonsmoking room. 3rd- the room was crappy, the bathroom door would drag on the floor and I had to use both arms to shut it. The bathroom(well the whole place for that matter) was disgusting and alls I could think about was what diseases I would contract from staying here. Only half the room had lights in it, so if you needed to see you might as well bring a flashlight. The carpet was about 20years old and stained with who knows what, keep your shoes on at all times! The best part of the room was the security lock for the balcony, the original lock was completely broke so there was some make shift aluminum square tube that wedged in the door and "locked" it, LOL what a joke. I wouldnt stay there again if it was free, let again what I paid a night. Do yourself a favor and pay extra, stay at the Hilton or Holiday Inn instead.. Lisez la suite

I booked this hotel planning to stay 3 nights. I read the reviews and knew that this hotel was old and needed some work. First, I want to say the staff is great! They are helpful for whatever you need. However, when I checked into my room there were some issues. The a/c leaked from the ceiling constantly and soaked about 6 feet of carpet. The room was […] so damp our food, towels and clothes were always wet and could not dry. We found multiple large roaches in the bathroom. The carpet is so dirty if you wear socks without shoes they will be black within two minutes. It felt very dirty in the room even though the housekeeping did clean it as good as they could. The pool area has only a few plastic chairs and 4 lounge chairs. The kids pool was not working at all and had no water in it. The second day we were there we found feces in the pool. The continental breakfast has three types of cereal, some toast and croissants. It also had coffee and milk. We did not eat from there as we brought our own food. The store on site has quite a variety of items. I did think that was nice. There are no stores or restaurants within a close walking distance. You would have to walk about a mile to get to even a beach shop. The second night of staying there we had extremely loud neighbors that let their children run down the hall screaming and slamming there door about 100 times. I have two kids (one a toddler) so I had a horrible time keeping my kids asleep because they were so loud. We ended up leaving after the second night even though I already paid for the third night. I will definately go back to this hotel. The room felt way to dirty and unsanitary for my family. Great staff but that was it! Lisez la suite
