The James Chicago - Chicago

The James was a great hotel from the service, atmosphere, location, cleanliness and finally the price! They have a fun lobby bar and seating that is a great way to start and end your evening. We walked everywhere and would stay at the hotel again. 5 star hotel at a 4 star price.

I had a business trip in Chicago and stayed for 4 nights in February and had a marvelous stay here. The service is fabulous - friendly and would highly recommend for business or pleasure.

Everything in the hotel was gorgeous, loved my room, friendly staff, amazingly convenient location, restaurant was fabulous, can't say enough good things. I never remember hotels, I stay all over the place and travel often for work, but this is one I will actually make a note of and remember when I'm back in Chicago.

2 blocks from Michigan Ave, a Trader Joes & Starbucks across the street - what else can you ask for?

Always enjoy staying at the James in Chicago. They offer many of the things I value in a hotel for business: free wifi, great location, 24 gym, late check out (2pm), and generally good service. The rooms could use a little re-vamp, and some are setup awkwardly, but it's always a very enjoyable stay. I feel like I get to relax there--which is saying […] something. Lisez la suite

The staff was so helpful! The couch was not at all comfortable, couldn't get comfortable watching television, doing my work, or reading.

Concierge very helpful. Great location within walking distance to subway. Comfortable and clean.

This was my second stay at the James. Even though the rooms were on the smaller side, they have a great feel to them--very stylish and modern--and they have all the nec. creature comforts. Had a most pleasant stay. The room was spotless. Bed very comfortable. Hotel staff was very friendly, most helpful. Great location, right off Magnificent Mile. Great value. Will stay there again and recommend this hotel.

Stayed at The James and our experience was superb. Great location and the rooms were very cool. The staff was exceptional especially the Doorman. The David Burke steakhouse in the lobby is overrated, back to Morton's for me.

Nothing bad to say about this hotel except room was a little small but for the location and price it's a steal. The beds were comfy and service was exceptional. I guess the one thing that could use an upgrade is the tv. It's a HDTV but there are no hd channels, not that I watched a lot of tv. Gotta catch sports center in the morning though. In many ways this is better than home. The bed is the best I have slept in at any hotel here and abroad. The Gym is not the largest but the equipment is incredibly well chosen. In fact the gym is one of the reasons we don't ever consider another option. The rooms are "high tech" in decor with very nice bathrooms. We have been upgraded a couple of times […] to a "junior suite". Paid for one one time. Also have stayed in the larger and smaller standard rooms. While you have more space in a suite obviously, they are all just fine! The location at corner of Ontario and Rush is just a short block from Michigan Avenue. Some very good restaurants are near by. Close enough to walk most everywhere downtown, however, very noisy because of traffic (i.e. sirens, horns honking...).

We only had one night, but the location provided great access to shopping and many good restaurants...allowing us to get the most from out of our short trip. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were modern, cute and very clean. The workout facility was amazing...best I've ever seen iin a hotel.

We love Chicago and all it has to offer. We stay downtown 3-4 times per year. When we bring our kids with us they always request The James. Our four boys look to this hotel as being their home away from home. Great gym, friendly people, cool rooms with a great vibe, & excellent location in downtown area are the things our family likes the best. Have […] never been disappointed when we stay here. Found this hotel on Yelp. It is just off Michigan great location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will stay again next time in Chicago.

Great location and staff. Love the bar in the lobby and Prime has some of the best food in town! They need to touch up some of the rooms & fixtures ,our handle came off the bathroom upon opening and our window was broken letting in a draft all evening. Other then that I will definitely stay there again upon my next visit.

This is a WONDERFUL hotel to stay at while in Chicago. The staff is so friendly and helpful. It is also in a good location for business downtown and also sight-seeing.

I think I had a mid-level room (not the most basic) but it was very large, roomy, well-decorated, and comfortable. Nice bed, linens, toiletries, etc. Free wifi. Would be nice to have better coffee for the in-room maker. This place has a superb health club, though they keep it too hot (a common problem with hotel health clubs I must admit). I felt this hotel would be acceptable based on reviews, location and the fact it was not a large chain. I have stayed in hotels in many cities. This was a remarkable find in Chicago and I was sad to only be able to stay one night. The price was excellent and the services were what I have seen in more expensive locations. It was just a short walk to everywhere we went. Did not need a cab once.

have to go to chicago partially every other week for work. The James is now the only hotel I go to, also have my clients stay there also, service is friendly and spot one. the only thing i found disappointing is that that stopped making my favorite marini there. I wish they would bring it back.

Took a spontaneous weekend trip to Chicago, and LOVED this hotel. It's BEAUTIFUL. I'm an artist, so I have an affinity for hotels that display original art..This place had GREAT original art everywhere. The rooms are clean, and really comfortable. The staff was INCREDIBLE. Stayed at the James during a business/ pleasure trip during NYE. Hotel staff was great, room was great, NYE was great.

The James was certainly a pleasant surprise. Very clean, modern and eco friendly with "triple filtered Chicago water bottles" in the room. Furniture was Ikea-ish and simple. Beds very comfortable. Located close to shops and restaurants. Free bedtime healthy muffin each night. Would definitely stay here again.

The best service I've received at a hotel in years. Highly recommend. Only negative was difficulty controlling the temperature with baseboard heating.

Great staff, gave us an up grade when they found out it was an special occasion. Fun moderen hotel with great location for walking to great food and city events north of the river.

The James Hotel in Chicago has an awesome location - close to great restaurants and shopping galore. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The decor is modern but basic - would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

This hotel is definitely worth any price you would pay! The staff was super welcoming and helpful, the rooms were clean and had a gorgeous view of downtown Chicago. Would recommend to anyone

Close to Magnificent Mile. The staff was pleasant and we even ended up with a complimentary room upgrade. The room was very comfortable and we were pleasantly surprised when we returned from dinner to have our bed turned down, a little sweet treat to eat and bathrobes placed on the bed for our use. We would definitely go back.
