Hotel Olimpia - Florence

L'hôtel est très bien situé sur la piazza la plus animée de Florence. L'accueil fut charmant. La réception est ouverte 24H sur 24 ce qui est appréciable. Plusieurs réceptionnistes parlaient français et tous maîtrisaient plutôt bien l'anglais. Enfin, le prix était raisonnable car nous étions à la croisée des rues les plus chics de la ville où l'on ne […] rencontre en général que des palaces. L'hôtel lui, est un petit 3 étoiles, les chambres sont sans intérêt et beaucoup ont la vue sur une impasse quelconque. Le petit déj' est copieux mais la qualité des produits pourrait être améliorée : nous sommes en Italie que diable ! Le parking est un peu cher : 24 euros la nuit mais ce sont les prix habituels dans le centre : mieux vaut se garer à l'extérieur et venir en taxi, en bus ou en train depuis la gare centrale lorsque l'on visiste Florence. Bref si vous cherchez un hôtel à moins de 80 euros à partir duquel vous pouvez tout faire à pied pour visiter cette magnifique ville de Florence, je vous le recommande. Lisez la suite

L'hôtel est situé en plein coeur du centre ville historique, proche de la gare Santa Maria Novella, beaucoup de commerce et de restaurants à proximité. Le personnel est très gentil, la chambre était propre. un peu bruyant la nuit, car situé en plein centre ville.

room was so bad we ended up not staying here so of course lost the money we had paid. We ended up hetting a beautifulroom in a close by hotel for less money. The best thing about this hotel was the location - in the middle of Florence, a close walk to everything. It was clean, relatively quiet, decent breakfast, great staff.

stay away, the worst hotel in flotence. i don't think it deserves to be colled hotel. no lobby, located on 4th. floor of run down office builing. please, if you don't ruin your vacation do not book room in this hell hole

Clean, relatively comfortable, as Italian 3 stars go. Staff was really nice and helpful. Loud during the day, but quiet at night, except for the obnoxious German girls staying next door,. The night clerk did ask them to keep it down, but no use. However, that was not the fault of the hotel. Great staff, rooms are OK and the location makes up for any issues you may have about the room. Piazza Republicca ride outside the hotel door. Close to everything. Probably really a 2 star hotel with a 4 star location. Breakfast is OK!

Right in the center of everything. Within walking distance of the Duomo Cathedral, the Uffici Museum, the gallery where Michelangelo's David resides. Many other tourist/historical destinations. Very friendly and VERY conveniently oriented hotel. We had a room on the Piazza - very loud, but only if the windows were open, otherwise very quiet. Comfortable bed, though miserable lighting if one wanted to read. Only substantial "miss" was the bathroom - very small with shower curtain closer than one really wants while showering. Good luck if you arrive by car because this hotel was very difficult to find since it is in an area where cars are not permitted (unless you are staying here). After many stops to ask directions, we found it very near to the carousel. You can walk to everything easily.

Th best thing I can say about this hotel is that the location is amazing. Centrally located in the middle of all the tourist sites and on a beautiful plaza. Basically this hotel has a perfect location downtown, virtually eliminating any transport to move around. The hotel is clean and ok. Full recommendation if you only have a few days to explore Florence.

The hotel is located on the 3rd and 4th floor of a building, so extremely difficult to find. However the location is fantastic, and the hotel itself is in a lovely traditional building with an implausible amount of shutters.

Minutes from the train station. The location is within walking distance to everything you came to see. Typical accomodations for Europe, but beware of the new tourism tax that you'll pay at check out. It's per person, per each night you stay.

July 2011 may daughter and I stayed at The Olympia. This hotel is in a wonderful location, the rooms are okay and clean... the staff was friendly enough... the bed wasn't the highest in comfort... but the reason I wouldn't stay here again is because of the bathroom/shower set up. When you take a shower (which is literally in the middle of the bathroom […] with no curtain, door, etc.) you are wetting the ENTIRE bathroom (toilet, sink, floor, toilet paper roll, etc.). Very weird and inconvenient. So after my shower I had to get a towel to "attempt" to dry the floor and toilet a bit so I wouldn't slip and fall when coming back into the room. I am traveling with two children, so location is key, as is quiet. We were able to pop back from anywhere in five minutes, and this allowed us to get the best of Florence. Our room was cool, spacious and quiet and the kids loved the bathroom combo as well as the old fashioned lift. Reception staff were really nice , wifi was unreliable, so they didn't […] charge me. Breakfast was great in a room that overlooked the piazza. It was easy to find and I would certainly go there again. The hotel is on the 3rd & 4th floors of a very old building in a major piazza within easy walking distance from the attractions. The plumbing and elevator were obviously afterthoughts since the building appears to have been built around the turn of the century (not this one - the last one). The reviews are right. This hotel is all about the location. The rooms are big, which is nice, but it is a very, very bare-bones hotel. My college aged kids felt it compared more to the hostels they stayed in while visiting Europe. Absolutely no frills whatsoever. Amazing low price, very nice service and good breakfast.

Hotel Olimpia was in a great location and easy to find , just find Piazza Repubblica and its there, its the piazza with the carousel in it and in the same place as the Savoy. Hotel was great, clean, good size room and the staff very friendly. Breakfast quite good for an italian breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

We read all the reviews and decided to go for this hotel for the loaction, which is great. The shower was definately an issue especiallly at the 120 Euros we paid. In Europe, the hotel fees go up and down in a true supply and demand fashion. If fewer spots, they have no shame about gauging you. The point being, at 70-80 Euros, i could take that there […] really is no shower in the room, just a curtain that pulls around a rod in the middle of the bathroom. The location was absolutely wonderful- on the 4th floor (a little different for a reception lobby) overlooking the Piazza della Repubblica - the one with the carousel!! Our large room (we were travelling w/3 people) had a balcony & we spent the final hours of our week in Italy enjoying the sights & sounds of Florence from our perch on the 4 floor. Considering […] that the next day was Easter (every church bell in Florence tolled at midnight - welcoming in Easter. Nice). & we were in Italy for likely the most expensive week of the year, we felt that the price was reasonable for the location & hotel ammenities. There was no separate shower... but simply a drain in the floor & a curtain on a rod to pull around & enclose the shower space. I know that medieval buildings are tough to retrofit, but I hadn't seen this sort of arrangement since Girl Scout camp. There wasn't anything wrong about it, just odd to get the toilet wet when taking a shower! The hotel is within walking distance of everything... 5 minutes to either the Uffizi or the Duomo. We can't tell you about breakfast because we left for the airport too early to have it. We were a bit disappointed in the reception staff who frankly didn't seem to want to be bothered by hotel guests much and sure as heck said "no way" when we asked if we could have coffee & juice before we left for the airport at 5:00a.m. The request didn't seem unreasonble, but the desk clerk certainly seemed to think so! Actually, if management from the hotel Olimpia is reading this....the hotel would have rated the absolute best of our 10 days in Italy if the night staff had been even a little bit engaged. I would recommend this hotel for it's location, which is unparalleled being in the centre of Florence, and for the price which was extremely reasonable. Everything was O.K. except shower booth. There was no separate shower booth in a rest room.

My family and I traveled Europe for thirteen days and this place was the only bad experience we had. The only good thing about the hotel was the front desk staff. The hotel is located in the fourth floor, with no front desk at the bottom, you have to take an elevator that seems it was built in the forties and only fits a couple of people at a time. […] The room is small and outdated and they don't face the plaza, but an alley. We had to get the staff to clean the bathroom, because there was a very strong smell of urine. The bathroom floor is the same as the shower, there is no separation. My family and I were so turn off by the bathroom that we all decided not to take showers there. We only stayed here, because we arrived late and were leaving early in the morning. During the night we could here the phone ring at the front desk and hear the conversation of the staff. I don't know if it was just in my head, but I could not stop scratching after I woke up. We stayed here for 2 nights and we where very impressed with the hotel. Its on the 4th floor with lift access, room was impeccable, stand in shower was in the toilet roomwhich was a bit wierd but worked ok for us.. breakfast was great and staff are very friendly and helpful.. However what makes this hotel special is the location, smack bang in city […] centre in a beautiful square and mins walk to everything from Duomo to Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio etc.. Excellent location, walk to everywhere important. Short walk to the train station and a short distance from the airport that should not cost more than 20 Euros. The walk to the train station is about 10 minutes without your luggage and the trip to the airport in a taxi is about 20 minutes. Make sure that you contract the taxi and not pay more than 20 […] Euros as Taxis in Italy tend to take you for a ride and ruin your wallet. The hotel has an efficient way of helping you out with this. Great sights around and good restaurants in its vicinity and great shops, right beside Zara's. The bath and toilet facilities are a joke and belong to the dark ages. This is not a three star hotel as it is rated. The hype does not much the reality. It is located on the fourth floor and the view from your room is not the Plaza but the back of other buildings. The lift is ancient and does not work if someone forgets to close the clanging doors. The Hotel is in the Heart of Florence, so accessable to all of the main sights. Room was very large for the 3 of us, we had 4 twin beds (2 pushed together to make a king) with somewhat of a view out the window. This hotel is properly situated near all of the major sights in Florence and a little less than a kilometer from the Santa Maria train station. The hotel staff was fine, and the room was clean. This is the perfect hotel for someone on a budget - the location makes this a 5star! My kids and I would even stop by the hotel, just to rest our feet... It was that close to everything.
