"MacDonald Randolph Oxford"
Location is top class, breakfast is very good, generally it is nice. Only downfall really is size of our room was on the small side, creaking floors and a horrible soft mattress. Not impressed that guests ahve to pay to use the Spa, £15. And a bit of a put off for this reason alone.

"Great location, meh service, watch your bill..."
This is a stunning old building, kept in pretty great shape. Rooms are quite nice, halls are rather funky, and we found it awfully cold until we asked at the desk and they told us to use the portable heater kept inside the closet (!) which heated the room nicely. We got a fabulous rate through this site. Students at Oxford know that this is the place […] for parents and visiting professors, and they love being taken to dinner here. You should know that you will pay dearly for a cocktail - dinner is not cheap but not ruinious. The dining room has two stars but we found the service amateurish and the food pretty meh - okay, we are very spoiled San Franciscans who aren't easily impressed by mock haute cuisine. But what frosted us was when they snuck in a mysterious 37GBP ($67) charge on our dinner bill and then studiously ignored our table until we had to walk over to the hostess to get a corrected bill. The mix of pretended grandeur and sub-standard service is a bit jarring. On the plus side, the spa is nice and at least one masseuse was absolutely top rate - really knew her stuff. Front desk was perplexed when we asked if there was a business center where we could print out our boarding passes -- evidently this was an unusual request. In fact, all the desk staff seemed unseasoned, again odd for such an old hotel. But the concierge was much more helpful in all matters. Lisez la suite

"Randolph -- Pretty Good"
The building is old, a little tired and gerry-rigged, but generally pleasant and well-run. It is not in the same league as top London hotels (e.g., Claridge's, Savoy, Ritz), but is likely among the best two hotels n central Oxford. My room was spacious enough and comfortable, and the bathroom was renovated, bright and clean. The dining room, lounge […] and bar are pleasant; but breakfast inexplicably ends at 10:30 AM on Sundays. The biggest problem I had was check-in, which probably took at least 30 minutes. About six parties were ahead of me when I arrived and the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. But, to be fair, I suspect one or more of those parties may have been making special requests (changing rooms, etc.) and that's not really the hotel's problem. Lisez la suite
"Randolph Hotel"
This hotel appears tired and dated. The Old Bank Hotel down the road is bright light and modern. My room was all right, but dreary - like hotels were in the '60s.
"Excellent, as always"
Always a treat and breakfast was offered for just £10 - very much appreciated.
"Macdonald Randolph Hotel - Oxford"
Visited the Randolph just before Xmas. Lovely hotel but was disappointed that a) the restaurant was fully booked on both nights and b) the Spa treatments were also fully booked for the whole weekend; in heinsite we should have prebooked. Would be better if the hotel gave priority to guests before allowing other clients to use the facilities. Also the […] bed was very uncomfortable, only two thin pillows; had to request for more pillows on three separate occassions before they were finally taken to the room. Conceige service excellent re: luggage and car handling; also excellent location. Overall we did enjoy our stay and would return (but prebook a meal and spa treatments). Lisez la suite
"Enchanting"
The MacDonald was even more enchanting than we had hoped for. It is the perfect base for exploring the city. Service was exceptional and the dining experience superb!!
"Great location and service but the room was ok"
We stayed there for 1 night and when we first checked in our room it smells of cigarettes so we had to ask to change room which they did. But then our second room was in the newer part of the hotel and it was MILES AWAY which sign posted at every corners and it was on and on up and down the stairs! The room was comfy and clean but the air con was either […] too hot or too cold all night. Over all a very good central location but the room took a while to get it sorted. Lisez la suite
"Horrible, expensive service"
Where do I start? Perhaps at being told there was a ramp into the hotel and when \i got there finding a temporary ramp that was so steep that not even Superman could roll up it. Then, when the hotel employee found no handles on my sport wheel chair, I was told that it was stupid to have a wheel chair with no handles to push. Perhaps | should start […] with the tiny elevators that had no room for a wheelchair to fit in. | had to lift my legs into the seat to get in the hotel. Or should it be with the bathroom that was not of the same level as the room floor. The final indignity was when we left asking to have someone call a local shop that my wife had always wanted to shop at. They refused and told us no shops were open and it would be a waste of their time to call the shop. Of course, when we had the taxi drive drive by the shop, it was open and I spent 20 pounds in taxi fees having the cab wait while my wife shopped. This is a horrible hotel, badly in need of r3enovations that bring it into compliance wit the UK's laws on accessibility and some of the employees badly need training in that the customer is always right and they really should make a phone call when asked. If you want an old run down hotel ran by rudfe people. This is the place to go. Lisez la suite
"Randoulph Hotel Oxford - Perfect Location"
The hotel is in a great location. The rooms were very comfortable and staff friendly. We paid a little extra to have breakfast included and was well worth it. We had a cocktail in the Morse Bar which was a little expensive. Would recommend!
"Randolph Oxford - looks like rain dear"
A wet weekend in Oxford... Truly tiny room. Public areas are pretty, location great, nothing wrong with breakfast. Bar is an alcove off the lobby and is priced like a real bar in a real five star. Sheets and blankets; but maybe you like that kind of thing.

"MacDonald Randolphl - fantastic museum across road"
Great location, helpfull staff able to store luggage until roon was ready to occupy. Lovely tea room near lobby which was great after a long day sightseeing. Don't miss museum just across the road, free entry and well worth a look.
"The Randolph Oxford"
A smart hotel at the heart of Oxford. The hotel has everything you could wish for and more. Typically British comfort and style. Excellent food. Marvellously appointed bedroom and spacious bathroom. A home from home!
"Overpriced & not luxurious or special Disappointed"
Poor, small sized room, very hot and stuffy. Overpriced parking. The Spa is not complimentary to hotel guests...so add at least another £60 to the already overpriced rates if you require parking and Spa access for two. Disgraceful! Afternoon tea was decent but the service and attention to detail during our stay was lacking for a supposed 5* establishment. Evening […] dinner menu was elusive, and when we did finally get sight of it we had to cancel our reservation as the choice for each course on offer was poor with all dishes containing ingredients unsuitable for pregnant women .We were really disappointed as we have stayed in other Macdonald Hotels...particularly the Bath Spa which is far superior in every way to here. Save your money and book elsewhere! Lisez la suite
"Great location, very comfortable, great service"
I was very comfortable and well looked after. The bed was just right and I slept really well. I would definitely return again. The hotel had a very old fashioned charm to it and the service excellent. There were just 2 small negatives. My room and the hotel generally were slightly worn looking and although I got the little extras you would expect with […] 5* such as bathrobes and minibar, the complimentary coffee in the room was bad. (Bring your own). Lisez la suite
"The Randolgh-Oxford."
This was a delight. The servive was wonderful as the staff were so well trained-smiles all round, and nothing was too much trouble. A most pleasurable stay. I only wish they would have had a few 'bits'-crisps etc when having a drink in the bar, but the staff were again superb. Thank you all the staff. Elaine

"Randolph"
Nice hotel, room service expensive, and not sure the accommodation is worth the high tariff but a nice place to stay and not impersonal. Wifi was free (included in price).
"Macdonald Randolph Hotel Oxford"
Beautiful hotel in a superb location. But we stayed in room 31, we could hear every footstep in the corridor, and people coming in at 2am, having a party in the next room, was rather annoying.
It does what the tin promises-confirm the spa charge before you book
"Randolf oxford city centre"
Excellent example of a 5 star hotel
"stayed for 5 nights"
very comfortable and clean. I loved that bathroom. I had breakfast once, and it was a treat. I was visiting for business, but the hotel was appropriate for families and couples. I would describe it as "old school" but it was not run down or stuffy.

The room is definitely no 5-star. It's small, cramped and the items are basic. I stayed in other locations in Oxford, Cambridge and London, paid much less and had better rooms and better facilities. If you wish to have a photograph of my room in Macdonald Randolph, pls email me.
"Heart of Oxford"
Beautiful old hotel - pity about no cold water first morning! However hotel did respond quite quickly. Close to colleges, churches and wonderful shopping in close walking distance. Fantastic choice at discount rate - maybe a few questions if you are paying full price.
"world class hotel"
I will definitely be going back. this hotel was everything I expected. Comfortable, central to oxford, beautiful, and had great service. Loved it

"Randolph Hotel, Oxford"
A very pleasureable stay. Staff very attentive and courteous. Very well appointed and spacious room . Perfect location.
"The Randoph, Oxford"
Super central location, very helpful and accommodating staff. Even though we arrived well before check in time they gladly stored our luggage until later and then did the same on check out day. Car parking was good value. Room very clean and high speck. Food rather overpriced in the restaurant but there are loads of good eating establishmnets around […] and about. Breakfast was excellent! "The Macdonald Randolf Hotel. Oxford."
Sadly this Hotel was once probably very Grand but it is exceptionally tired now. As you walk in to reception The carpet looked like it should be in an olds folks home. Actually I have seen smarter old folkes homes. I would hate the many foreign visiters to Oxford to think that was the British standard. Our 'executive room' was not square so although […] there was space at the top side of bed it was difficult to get through between bed and wall at the bottom end of the bed. no good for the elderly or disabled. I do alot of travelling for business so I do know what 5* standards should be. and sadly the Randolf does not have the standard. The staff however were extremely helpful. could not fault them at all. Well done. Lisez la suite
"The Randolph Oxford - 5* all the way!"
Having been to university there I know and love the city of Oxford, and my husband and I love to go back every year for a bit of Christmas shopping. We've stayed in a few of the hotels and B&Bs in the area, but the Randolph is definitely the best we've seen and completely lived up to all of its 5 stars. We turned up over an hour early but the receptionist […] didn't bat an eyelid and gave us the keys to our room, which was spacious and beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you could need... The hotel was decorated with really luxurious Christmas decorations which added to the overall ambiance. The staff were all incredibly polite and friendly, and insisted we take a lift when it arrived even when they had been there waiting for it before us. Although we didn't dine in the restaurant, we had a couple of cocktails in the Morse Bar in the evening which were delicious! When we went for breakfast in the morning we were told there would be a bit of a wait, but were shown to a table within a minute or two and were very pleased with the variety of options on offer to eat and drink. I can absolutely guarantee that we'll be going back there again! Lisez la suite
"Traditional English hotel"
Lovely traditional English hotel full of history, with really helpful staff/friendly concierge. Only complaint was that the room was very small and extremely stuffy - the heating was on full blast throughout the hotel which made the small room seem really claustrophobic.
"No heat!"
How can a 5star hotel in the UK not have central heating in all of the rooms? We were so surprised that the only way of heating our room was with the small space heater that we found in the closet. There was still no heat souce in the bathroom so obviously didn't spend a lot of time there! Did love the great proximity to Oxford University.
Elegant old hotel in a perfect location; small but comfortable room; the bathroom was almost as large, and very modern. Pleasant experience from beginning to end,
"A great stay!"
Our stay in the Randolph was most enjoyable. Would definitely recommend the hotel to others.
"Randolph Hotel in Oxford"
Great hotel in perfect location. Parking and breakfast rather expensive but set or pre theatre dinner prices not too bad and food (as with service and everything else about the hotel) was great. Also the fact that they upgraded us to a suite at check in was great. My wife said it was our first visit to Oxford and we had visited a MacDonald hotel in […] Edinburgh but did not suggest or request an upgrade. Lisez la suite

"Very expensive for everything"
Hotel offered us a US type plug for our computer. Then the next day we were charged 15 pounds for one night's use! They also charge for the internet. Very inconvenient and hard to find if using the train.
"Location Location Location"
You more than pay for the five star status at the Randolph, but to be right in the centre of everything makes for a wonderful base for a weekend in Oxford. We walked everywhere. Go to the Spa (a one off £15 payment for your stay, but well worth it) it is small but wonderful.
"Oxford, Randolf"
The hotel was generally ok, it is a a terrific location for all the sites and attractions. The rooms were disappointingly small for a 5* Hotel. The attitude of some of the staff could have been better, they appeared to think that we were privileged to be staying at their hotel and we were suffered as a mild inconvenience in their busy day.
