The Kirketon Hotel - Darlinghurst

Hôtel d'un confort correct mais vraiment bruyant notamment du jeudi au dimanche (bar au RDC). A 30 mn à pied du centre (Hyde Park et Opéra) dans un quartier plus ou moins bien fréquenté à partir de 22h.

I've stayed at many other "8 hotels" in both Sydney and Melbourne. They are usually well priced, and in good condition. The Kirketon rooms are TINY. I had work to do, and their wasn't a chair in the room because it is so small (there is a desk with a small stool stuffed under it). The room is also so dark with only two small spot-lights and one small […] lamp with a black shade. I guess I can't really comment on cleaniness as it was so dark you couldn't tell if it was clean or not. There is also a bar in the ground floor which while not overly loud, the vibrations are felt through the building. The window also didn't open, so the room was a bit stuffy. Lisez la suite

We stayed in an executive suite and it was very comfortable. The hotel location is great - you can easily walk to Oxford Street or the city and there are plenty of good cafes and restaurants nearby. I liked the hotel decor and loved the old silent movies screening in the hallways. However there are some aspects of the decor needing an upgrade, such […] as the very worn arm chair in our room. Not the fault of the hotel but the guests staying in the room next door were way too noisy 'enjoying' themselves at 3am - otherwise it was very quiet with no noise from the bar downstairs. This hotel is nice and is in a great location, but the reason to stay is because of the staff. They are great! We enjoyed our stay. And the bar downstairs is awesome.

Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Wonderful little French cafe across the street. Big closet but small room overall. Surrounding neighborhood just a bit shady. Overall would reccomend for those wanting to stay in Darlinghurst. Reasonably priced.

The hotel looked updated, boutique style. The king room was kinda small to me but the way it was decorated you didn't notice it. The staff was always attentive and courteous. The safe in our room died and had to be drilled but the staff took care of everything while we did the tourist thing, called me when they got it open and put our belongings in […] the hotel safe until we got back. No worries. We were in the country for almost a month and stayed in Sydney twice, but we booked a different hotel the 2nd time. Wish we would've returned to the Kirketon instead. Lisez la suite

Nice hotel, but the rooms were a little small. The staff was very helpful and provided great service.

This hotel is located in a lively district, with many restaurants nearby. However, it has no elevator (there are three levels), and the rooms are small and have very poor lighting, unsuitable for reading at night. The air conditioning was difficult to control. The staff was friendly but consisted of a single young man. My co-travelers killed a large […] cockroach in their room. On the whole, I did not find this hotel very satisfactory. Lisez la suite

We had a warm welcome and enjoyed a friendly and relaxed stay in this colourful location in Sydney. The central location was ideal for our sightseeing needs

We stayed 3 nights in the premium room and it was comfortable if a tad dim. The window was frosted so one can feel quite claustrophobic. What I found annoying was the number of cockroaches and other pests all over the toilet floor, W.C and one morning, a cockroach was on my face towel before I used it! I complained about this to the recep and he said […] this was a summer phenomenon. Still, I cannot recall staying in a hotel with so many cockraoches before. Apart from that, in terms of location of the hotel there are plenty of restaurants/cafe nearby and Kings Cross Station is a few minutes walk down the road. Lisez la suite

Friendly staff, located close to the CBD, shops and great restaurants & cafes. Simple, fuss-free accommodation, no bells & whistles but comfortable enough.

The Kirketon is a lovely boutique hotel, surrounded by a great neighbourhood for food and drink. If you like coffee and good food it's a great area to be. It also is in close walking distance to Kings Cross. We had an executive room, which was modern and clean. The room itself was not cramped, but not particularly spacious. The bathroom was modern, […] but the lighting was poor and water pressure in the shower was not good. It was also very small. There wes no bath. Service was excellent from a small staff, our requirements were promptly attended to, and we were able to check in early. Staff were very friendly and knowledgable of the area. Premium room was decent sized and comfortable, but the shower was a tad crap. Great location and friendly staff. Eau de Vie (the bar on the ground floor) was a major reason for choosing this hotel, and it conformed to my high expectations .... though I'd probably rate Melbourne cocktail bars higher :)

Welcoming and helpful staff made the difference. Its a really nice part of Sydney to stay with Surrey Hills and Circular Quay both within pleasant walking distance (through the Gardens via the Arts Gallery). Breakfast at Bills Cafe around the corner in Liverpool Street, Fritalli Fresh in McLeay Street for lunch and a choice of different restaurants […] and bars in the evening. Lisez la suite

The rooms where quite small but typpical for that kind of city hotel. Extremely nice staff and really cool bar. Would definitely stay there again if I go back!

The hotel has a great location in the middle of Kings Cross - lots of cafes, bars and restaurants, and the station is 3 minutes walk. The service was attentive and friendly, albeit they seem to be a bit understaffed - note this is a boutique hotel. The room was tidy but frankly small and plain - a couple artsy bits of decoration coudln't hide the […] fact that we had a panel instead of a window, and we weren't allowed to open it for safety reasons. Another issue was general safety: the hotel has a very popular bar downstairs and there is a lot of uncontrolled traffic of people in the hallways during the weekend nights - and it gets noisy. My husband and I spent our first 5 nights in Australia at the Kirketon. It is perfectly located in Kings Cross with lots of little local restaurants in the surrounding area. The best is right across the street, TigerBakers, and there's also a great bakery for morning coffee. We got the premium room and it was roomy, though being on the third floor, […] an elevator in the hotel would have been nice. That and a couple cracked tiles in the bathroom are probably my only complaints. Of the 4 hotels we stayed in total, the Kirketon had the most comfortable bed! Probably too comfortable! My spouse and I stayed here during our visit to Sydney. While the staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were a bit smaller than we expected. The shower did not have a proper light (more like a spotlight) and the sink did not drain well. We also were there on a weekend and our room was located on the second floor close to the stairwell. We had a great stay at the Kirketon, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were comfortable and very funky. the location of the hotel is perfect, only a 10 minute walk into the CBD, and the restaurants and bars in the area were great! We arrived to a personalized letter from the manager, to welcome us to the hotel and congratulate […] us on our anniversary, and later received a complimentary bottle of champagne from the hotel - a lovely touch. Will definitely stay there again, and recommend anyone who is traveling to Sydney to check it out Lisez la suite

The location was great. The room was a good size for 1 person. If you are traveling with 2 or more people I would recommend upgrading to the larger room. The staff was great and very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. The bed felt like a futon and could have used improvement but overall a great place to stay if you are in Sydney more for the […] sights then relaxing in the Hotel all day. Lisez la suite

The hotel has a contemporary, artistic ambiance and is surrounded by some good eats (and some not so good), and the Kings Cross Station is about a 5 minute walk. While the staff did everything in their power to make our stay as comfortable as possible, I did not and will never forget the horrible smell of our room. They provided us with a spray to […] help make the room smell better, but the smell was only masked for a few hours. Luckily for us, we were outside the hotel sight-seeing most of the day. We stayed in a standard room, and the bed was extremely comfortable, and I loved having our large flat screen tv over our bed. Die Zimmer sind sehr klein, es fehlen Ablagemöglichkeiten. Ein Fenster ist vorhanden aber kein Ausblick da Nachbarwand ca. 2m entfernt. Hotelpersonal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

I stayed at the Kirketon for business. The front desk staff were very helpful and very friendly. The location of the hotel was great. The rooms at the hotel are small and mayby a bit to stylish form my point of view, there was simply not enough light in the room, but when this is said it was clean; which is basically all I want from a hotel when I'm […] away from home. The Hotel feels safe and quiet evean though there was a cocktail bar on the ground floor. The cocktail bar downstairs is nice and cosy and definitely quite cool. I heard that this is the place to go if you want a realy good drink in Sydney. It was nice to be able to stay somewhere close to the city , but within walking distance to the train station. The surrounding restaurants were great. I used a cafe near by the hotel in the mornings and got some fantastic breakfast. Lisez la suite
