"Days In near Martinsville - mediocre lodging"
There wasn't anything special about this place. It was just OK overall. But we couldn't use the combination heater/air conditioner because when we turned it on, it blasted me with a nasty, musty smell. I coughed for a long time and thought it had not been maintained, and whatever filter was in there had not been cleaned and disinfected in a long time. […] I have a severe mold allergy, and was afraid to turn on the heat. The room was clean, but the mattresses thin and hard. I did appreciate the fact that there was a little refrigerator in the room. The TV did not have any sort of guide channel or even a cardboard or paper one in the room, so it was a guessing game as to what was on each channel and which channel was which by number. Not very many channels to choose from anyway. So stay here if you aren't very particular about the things mentioned and don't need any heat or A/C. Lisez la suite
"Next to Martisnville speedway"
When I registered, I was told no pet fee. However, there was a pet fee when I checked in. The clerk said it was a locally imposed fee. Also, the room was dirty, the sheets and pillows were stained. The hotel staff hardly spoke english. The pool was nice, and the a/c worked well to keep the room cool.
"Needs some updating or lower the price"
While the room was very large and they allowed our dog, the room really needs some updating. After seeing the condition of the room, I really felt it was a bit overpriced for what it was. The bathroom was super cramped, so if access is an issue for you, you'll probably want to stay elsewhere. Another odd thing is that the power outlet for the vanity […] is actually located BEHIND the bathroom door and the cords plugged in there will barely reach the countertop. So if you need to use the hair dryer and still be able to see the mirror well, it might be an issue. At least they had a hair dryer and its cord reached the vanity okay, but if you need any other items like a curling iron, it probably wouldn't reach well. The room was pretty clean and the mattresses were relatively comfortable. And the main part of the room is quite spacious. The staff that was there during our stay were not as helpful as we would have liked and we had to keep repeating ourselves to get them to understand. Not sure if it was a language barrier issue or if it was a hearing issue, or possibly both. It took almost 20 minutes to get checked in and we were the only customers there and it was after midnight. Shouldn't have been that difficult, especially since everything was already paid through Hotels.com, we just had to pay for our dog. And speaking of the dog, I think they overcharged. We'd been quoted $10 and paid $20. The woman asked "how old?" our dog was and I said 2 and then she asked how heavy he was and I told her 30#. So I'm wondering if she mistakenly thought she had asked "How MANY". I think there was a language barrier there! Plus I had to repeat it 4 or 5 times, so who knows! Overall, it was ok and we were only there for 1 night. If it had been multiple nights, I don't think we would have stayed, especially at the price we paid. Lisez la suite
"Can't beat for overall stay."
While this hotel is not new and could use some updates, for the price it is very nice and clean. I use this hotel evertime I come to Martainsville. I will continue to use it in the future as it is consistent. I average staying two to three nights every month, never encountered any problems.
