ONLY CRITICISM , I HAVE STAYED THERE MANY TIMES AND HAVE FURTHER BOOKINGS , BUT ON ARRIVAL ONE NEVER SEEMS TO GET THE ROOM ONE HAS BOOKED. THE STANDARD ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL AND I ALWAY BOOK A DELUXE BUT STILL THEY TRY TO PUT ME IN A STANDARD ROOM AFETR FLYING ACROSS THE WORLD , THIS IS REALY ANNOYING. THEY DO ALWAYSRECTFY THE SITUATION BUT HOPEFULLY […] NEXT TIME IT WILL JUST BE AS BOOKED. STAFF ALL FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL . Belleclair was a small but well-maintained hotel for anyone who's looking for a quite but lively accomodation. The room was clean and cozy. Lobby and hallways were pretty. I strongly recommend this hotel and i would definitely come back next year.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"An Upper West Side Alternative"
My 2nd stay at the Belleclaire did not disappoint. Location is great, as is the service. The recommendation of a restaurant for lunch by Concierge Mr. Rios was perfect (and included a surprise dessert compliments of the hotel). This is a former apartment building that was turned into a hotel; some things are old (window a/c's), but the amenities and […] friendly staff more than make up for that. Free computer use, gym, daily newspapers, fridge in room, use of microwave off lobby; convenient lobby a.m. Cafe. Will definitely stay here again! Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com

"perfect NYC hotel."
great...loved it. Love the location. Love the breakfast coffee & fresh croissants. All together, a good experience. Very clean.Avis certifié Hotels.com
We thought the staff were very helpful, particularly the Concierge! It's a nice boutique hotel in a terrific location. The only sour point was the limo drive arranged to the airport the night before departure we were told by the evening Concierge (not the day person) it would be $85 including gratuity, only to be told by the driver at Newark it would […] be $95, plus gratuity...we reluctantly agreed on $95 all up! "2nd Time Here"
I really enjoyed my second trip here. I love the location, ease of access, staff and the building/rooms themselves. The room was very clean and reasonably priced. It is a short walk to Central Park or the National History Museum, and the walk to TImes Square and the Theater District isn't terribly long either. I'd recommend this hotel to a friend or […] family member. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"If you're after a very ggod hotel with great price"
Stayed for 6 nights during the beginning of August. We asked for a hudson River facing room and we got it for a small extra. The room is very clean and quiet. The hotel receptionists are very patient and nice. There are Two subway stations in the area and it usually doesn't take more than 5-10 minutes to get to Times Square. It's also a walking distance […] to Central Park. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Nice location but room could be improved."
It is in a very nice neighbourhood with lots of supermarket(Fairway and Trader Joes), restaurant and shops close by. There is not too much noise and we went for morning walk at the centAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Great Hotel for our stay"
The hotel was away from the craziness of mid-town but close enough to easily get there by train. The surrounding area had plenty of shopping, restaurants and close to central park. Although the rooms are small as most are in NY, it was well maintained and comfortable. The bathroom can use some updating but overall the hotel was very good.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Not spacious room - maintenance needed"
I've booked this hotel online. The photos looked great but when I checked in the hotel, it didn't look like the advertising pictures. The double room is very small and very old. My bath really needed some maintamce. The bath tap was broken while I was having a shower. I called the reception and they did send a handyman to come to my room to fix it. […] The room was very old and not very clean. I was very disappointed about this hotel. I stayed there for 7 days and I just used the room to sleep at night and I tried not to stay there during the day. I wouldn't recommend to my family or friends at all. The prices are not cheap and it's not worth it to stay at this hotel. And I don't think it should be rated as 4 x stars hotel. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"upper west side gem"
Our room was a suite--really spacious, up-to-date finishes, and spotless--with a nice view up Broadway to boot. Don't know how well the standard rooms rate.Avis certifié Hotels.com
We stayed here while visiting Columbia U. The location is just a few subway stops from Columbia and sites we wanted to see further south. The rooms were very nice. In lieu of the $50 daily garage fee I paid them $25 and they parked my car on the street for me, and I could even have done that myself. Great bakery around corner from lobby entrance, and […] next to it a great little grocery store with large deli prepared food section made it easy to get food to save some money. Hotel Belleclaire was the perfect contrast to staying in Times Square. It's a great neighborhood for walking, restaurants, markets, and window shopping. Staff was very accommodating--and we were able to check in about 9:30am. Room was lovely, although a little small -- however, certainly not the smallest by NY standards. Breakfast bar in lobby. Complimentary […] cool drinks in the afternoon. Walking distance to the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Natural History, and Central Park. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Good location near to the metro, good selection of shops and restaurants nearby. The only downside with the room is that it lacked double glazing and and as a result there was a lot of noise that could be heard from the street BroadwayAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Hidden gem on the Upper West Side"
The hotel was in our old neighborhood, so very convenient for us. Clean, nice staff, refurbished. My only complaint was the room was very small (fine for an overnight but not great for more than that) and the bathroom, while well appointed was tiny.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Switched my room with my daughter, son n law and grand son,. they were not comfortable given the small space and queen size bed. Son n Law had requested room with a king size bed... anyway , the a/c was noisy in the room and the cost of the snacks in room were scandalous.... $10.00 bottle of water.... wickedAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Good location & good facilities"
WE stayed 5 nights at Hotel Belleclaire for the money paid the room was of a reasonable standard and not too small. There was a media room that you could print out emails and access a computer, this was helpful. Staff were approachable and helpful. The bathroom however was very small and had no real storage area, this could be improved. a cofee machine […] or kettle would have been nice. The surrounding area was very nice with a good fruit and vegetable market along with just about everything sold in the shop. A new French patisserie and good deli also. 3 minutes walk to subway. Would stay there again. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"They don't tell you everything"
I have almost nothing bad to say about the Hotell Belleclaire. The hotel is nice, clean, good location. The rooms are small but mostly well appointed, though I didn't love the window AC unit nor the chemical smell in the bathrooms. Here's what got me though, I make sure where ever I stay has free wifi, and they do ... kinda. Turns out you get free wifi […] access to a limited internet, and if you want regular internet access you have to pay. Not happy about that. If I'd known ahead of time I probably would have looked for a different hotel. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com

The hotel was great. The service was wonderful. The room was very small, but very nice. For the price, the hotel would be hard to beat. Five star service but only paying for a 3 star hotel.Avis certifié Hotels.com

We were over for a family wedding and found our stay great, The room was very Spacious and Clean. The staff very friendly. When we go back to New York, we will be staying at this hotel. I would recommend this hotelAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Small, okay rooms in a GREAT LOCATION"
The rooms are small. We stayed in a suite which was about the size of a $80 a night doble or single room anywhere else. However, the staff were nice and the neighborhood around the hotel was fantastic. Only three blocks from the natural history museum & cental park, and about 7 blocks from the Dakota/Strawberry Fields. A few blocks from the subway line […] as well. "Convenient Location and excellent staff"
Stayed for 5 enjoyable nights. I had a quiet room on the inside. The room was not large but satisfactory with a queen sized bed, closet, reading chair and small writing desk. The room included a small refrigerator hidden away in the dresser; this was convenient for keeping fruit juice and milk. The window was darkened since the interior court is typical […] NYC and not attractive. The hallways are narrow but OK to maneuverer thru. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful during my stay. The hotel is popular with European tour groups. The hotel entrance is on W.172th and since its on the corner of W. 172th and Broadway, it only takes a couple of minutes to reach Lincoln Center, or Times Square by subway or cab. My family and I enjoyed a lovely stay in Hotel Belleclaire. The position is absolutely wonderful - near Central Park , fantastic Fairways , Metropolitian Opera and Lincoln Center and Juilliard. We stayed at the Belleclaire for 5 nights. The room was quite dark during the day. The window etc.was very old. "Standard in NY is different"
Hotel was nice. Great location and staff. Good access to subway, but also plenty to do within walking distance like central park. There are nice markets around the corner for water and snacks for the room, which has little fridge. The room itself is tiny, but comfortable and clean. The elevator is small and only fits a few people with luggage. But it's […] New York! I came here to see the sights and be out and about. The room was only for sleeping. With that said, this hotel is great for location, but not if you cherish space and luxury. It was just fine for me. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia

"Close to Central Park"
Long way from Times Square but only 3 blocks from Central Park. Has gym but didn't use as walked lots during stay. Would be nice to have tea coffee facilities in room. Tea available on a night in lobby but not coffee for some reason! Comfortable bed, adequate for our purposeAvis certifié Expedia
"What you see is what you get"
Room was very small, and there were no "extras" - no free coffee or tea, etc. But it was a clean room in the neighborhood I wanted to be in. Staff was able to keep my suitcase from when I got there till it was time to check in. They pre-charged my entire stay plus $100 -- (in case I trashed the room, I guess) -- no other hotel has ever done that. But […] they corrected it when we left, so no problem. "Nice area, close to subway and Central Park"
Friendly, helpful staff. Found it to be a quiet room although no view whatsoever. This was probably a good thing in the end. More storage space is the only real criticism.Avis certifié Expedia
Rooms are small and workable but the cleaning is random. Most days cleaning occurred (for us) after 4pm. So if you plan on going out for a short while and coming back to work or use the room, forget it. And the cleaning was not thorough or sheets changed (even at request), shower still had hair in it but the place was clearly disinfected as you could […] smell the alcohol down the hallways. But as a base for tourism, it is fine. And if you get a good price, it is almost good. Staff were accommodating and helpful in almost every request. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia

advertised as 3.5 stars and charged 450 a night. "Hotel close to restaurants and Central Park"
The hotel is very easy to get to if you are arriving in New York from New Jersey and the Geo Washington Bridge, via the Hudson River Parkway. The staff at the Hotel Belleclaire were were very courteous and helpful. The cleanliness was average. The hotel is a handsome older property built between 1900 and 1910. After the first night in a handicap room […] which was less than convenient for several reasons, we requested a move to another room, when we discovered a cockroach scurrying around the bathroom. The staff at the front desk apologized and immediately arranged to move us. The new room was quite acceptable. The valet parking was handy. The concierge was helpful and polite. The rooms and furniture in our rooms need a touch up with paint and/or touch-up stain and varnish. The bed and bath linens were plentiful and nicely done. The hotel is very handy to Central Park, two blocks to restaurants, subways are close, with lots of taxis. Lobby is tidy and has a nice coffee bar and free newspapers.
