"Good location, older hotel, great staff"
I was going to the Beacon theatre and this was a convenient location. Hotel is older with minimal amenities. The staff is very nice and helpful. Room was clean and bed was comfortable but dark as the one window was between two buildings. Ok for a short trip.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Best place ever"
I love this place! It's close to Central Park, shops, restaurants, anything you need! Even got my favorite boots repaired down the street. Can't beat it... Upper West Side is by far one of my favorite neighborhoods. This location is also 2 blocks from the subway.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"My NYC Spot"
I have stayed at the Hotel Belleclaire at least 12 times in the last decade. It's a great spot, in a great neighborhood, close to the subway and filled with a friendly staff. My stay this time was as wonderful as usual but it did include a roach in the bathroom and some flies as well. This is a first experience seeing any bugs in the hotel (5th floor) […] and I expect it will be the last. I will be back to the HB in the summer with some friends and my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary...hopefully no bugs then. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Great upper west side location"
Very professional and helpful staff. Wonderful location close to Subway and upper West side, near natural history Museum and Central Park. Great local food.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Very enjoyable stay."
Enjoyed your hotel a lot--helpful staff, usable lobby, nice amenities . We'd return.Avis certifié Hotels.com
The hotel has narrow stairs, small rooms but is clean, good service and great location. Complaint - I asked bellman for cab to airport. Bellman- our car service is $75 tips taxes told included. Me-compared to cab? Bellman-$6-$7. Me -$75? Bellman- yes, taxes tip, tolls included. I said okay. I asked driver if he takes credit? Yes. When we got to the airport […] after having to stop for has and going the longest route through neighborhoods instead of freeway, the driver says that will be $82. What happened to $75 all included? Driver - only if you use cash. I was pretty angry but had no recourse. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Nice staff, nice lobby. Beds are comfortable but rooms need an upgrade to central air. Wall units were loud and we could hear noise from the street. Also the bathroom has no exhaust fan. Great location.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Hotel Belleclaire September 2014"
The Hotel Belleclaire is done in a very European style. It has the feel of a very traditional established hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and made some excellent recommendations on restaurants. They also assisted with ground transportation. The location in the upper west side was perfect. An easy walk to Central Park and the Museums on the east […] side. The breakfast bar, while not included in the arrangement was good for coffee and pastries and again the staff was very friendly and help. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to our friends. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Great Neighborhood. Hotel just Ok"
Great location, close to everything in the upper west side. Make sure you get at least a deluxe Queen size room, the full size rooms are tiny and need remodeling! No complementary coffee in room or downstairs. Slow elevators.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"One Night Stay"
I stay in NY 4-5 days a month for work, and needed a clean, safe, conveniently located hotel. Belleclaire was perfect! Room was adorable and the bed was the coziest twin I've ever slept in! Also, they were able to accommodate my early check-in, which was nice, since I checked out 8 hrs later!Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Charm, comfort, and hospitality"
The hotel was just two blocks from Central Park West, which was great for our purposes - wedding in the park. It was also two blocks from the nearest subway station which was very convenient. The hotel is historic is appearance, but it is fully updated/modernized and has all the amenities you could need. The accomodations, hallways, and elevators are […] a little small, but not tiny. The staff was so very friendly and helpful. The neighborhood is a nice change of pace from frenetic midtown - it still has all the things you like about New York except a zillion people milling around 24 hrs a day. There is a fire station one block away, so you will hear sirens from time to time (but you know you're safe). Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Overall it was a good place to stay. There are things they could improve on, maintenance and housekeeping are the area that stand out for us. Not that the rooms were dirty there were things that are miss so could just be better. Bathrooms need a exhaust fan. Room becomes very steamy.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Close to everything."
Lobby personnel were polite and helpful. Room was clean but the air-conditioner was noisy. Location is good, close to Central Park and Broadway.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Great little boutique hotel. Clean, comfortable, modern enough. Not a 5-star but perfectly adequate. Staff was excellent.Avis certifié Hotels.com
ONLY CRITICISM , I HAVE STAYED THERE MANY TIMES AND HAVE FURTHER BOOKINGS , BUT ON ARRIVAL ONE NEVER SEEMS TO GET THE ROOM ONE HAS BOOKED. THE STANDARD ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL AND I ALWAY BOOK A DELUXE BUT STILL THEY TRY TO PUT ME IN A STANDARD ROOM AFETR FLYING ACROSS THE WORLD , THIS IS REALY ANNOYING. THEY DO ALWAYSRECTFY THE SITUATION BUT HOPEFULLY […] NEXT TIME IT WILL JUST BE AS BOOKED. STAFF ALL FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL . FREE TEA AND WATER IN FOYA GREAT IDEA , NEARBY DELI'S OPEN LATE ALL SELL TAKE AWAY QUALITY FOODS . EASY TO GET AROUND , SUBWAY OR CAB AND OF COURSE WALKING THROUGH CETRAL PARK TO THE UPPER EAST SIDE A MUST. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Belleclair was a small but well-maintained hotel for anyone who's looking for a quite but lively accomodation. The room was clean and cozy. Lobby and hallways were pretty. I strongly recommend this hotel and i would definitely come back next year.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"An Upper West Side Alternative"
My 2nd stay at the Belleclaire did not disappoint. Location is great, as is the service. The recommendation of a restaurant for lunch by Concierge Mr. Rios was perfect (and included a surprise dessert compliments of the hotel). This is a former apartment building that was turned into a hotel; some things are old (window a/c's), but the amenities and […] friendly staff more than make up for that. Free computer use, gym, daily newspapers, fridge in room, use of microwave off lobby; convenient lobby a.m. Cafe. Will definitely stay here again! Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com

"perfect NYC hotel."
great...loved it. Love the location. Love the breakfast coffee & fresh croissants. All together, a good experience. Very clean.Avis certifié Hotels.com
We thought the staff were very helpful, particularly the Concierge! It's a nice boutique hotel in a terrific location. The only sour point was the limo drive arranged to the airport the night before departure we were told by the evening Concierge (not the day person) it would be $85 including gratuity, only to be told by the driver at Newark it would […] be $95, plus gratuity...we reluctantly agreed on $95 all up! "2nd Time Here"
I really enjoyed my second trip here. I love the location, ease of access, staff and the building/rooms themselves. The room was very clean and reasonably priced. It is a short walk to Central Park or the National History Museum, and the walk to TImes Square and the Theater District isn't terribly long either. I'd recommend this hotel to a friend or […] family member. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"If you're after a very ggod hotel with great price"
Stayed for 6 nights during the beginning of August. We asked for a hudson River facing room and we got it for a small extra. The room is very clean and quiet. The hotel receptionists are very patient and nice. There are Two subway stations in the area and it usually doesn't take more than 5-10 minutes to get to Times Square. It's also a walking distance […] to Central Park. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com

"Great Hotel for our stay"
The hotel was away from the craziness of mid-town but close enough to easily get there by train. The surrounding area had plenty of shopping, restaurants and close to central park. Although the rooms are small as most are in NY, it was well maintained and comfortable. The bathroom can use some updating but overall the hotel was very good.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Not spacious room - maintenance needed"
I've booked this hotel online. The photos looked great but when I checked in the hotel, it didn't look like the advertising pictures. The double room is very small and very old. My bath really needed some maintamce. The bath tap was broken while I was having a shower. I called the reception and they did send a handyman to come to my room to fix it. […] The room was very old and not very clean. I was very disappointed about this hotel. I stayed there for 7 days and I just used the room to sleep at night and I tried not to stay there during the day. I wouldn't recommend to my family or friends at all. The prices are not cheap and it's not worth it to stay at this hotel. And I don't think it should be rated as 4 x stars hotel. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"upper west side gem"
Our room was a suite--really spacious, up-to-date finishes, and spotless--with a nice view up Broadway to boot. Don't know how well the standard rooms rate.Avis certifié Hotels.com
We stayed here while visiting Columbia U. The location is just a few subway stops from Columbia and sites we wanted to see further south. The rooms were very nice. In lieu of the $50 daily garage fee I paid them $25 and they parked my car on the street for me, and I could even have done that myself. Great bakery around corner from lobby entrance, and […] next to it a great little grocery store with large deli prepared food section made it easy to get food to save some money. Hotel Belleclaire was the perfect contrast to staying in Times Square. It's a great neighborhood for walking, restaurants, markets, and window shopping. Staff was very accommodating--and we were able to check in about 9:30am. Room was lovely, although a little small -- however, certainly not the smallest by NY standards. Breakfast bar in lobby. Complimentary […] cool drinks in the afternoon. Walking distance to the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Natural History, and Central Park. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Good location near to the metro, good selection of shops and restaurants nearby. The only downside with the room is that it lacked double glazing and and as a result there was a lot of noise that could be heard from the street BroadwayAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Nice hotel, very obliging staff."
We had a brilliant stay at the hotel and the experience of New York. The room we orginally booked was too small and did not have a chest of drawers or anywhere to put clothes, it did look bigger in the picture. The reception quickly were able to ungrade us to a much more comfortable room for an extra 9 dollars a night without tax with a closet and drawer […] space. The smaller room would not have been a problem if only staying for a long weekend but for 2 ladies sharing for 9 nights, it would have been impossible. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
"Very good hotel close to everything"
Our stay at Hotel Belleclaire was excellent. Close to restaurants, shopping and subway. Only problem we had was that we booked 4 rooms and wanted them close together, but some of us were on different floors. I certainly would recommend this hotel to our friends.Avis certifié Expedia

"Great little hotel with great staff"
This hotel is a true travelers rest. The staff is accommodating and ever so helpful. The Belle Claire is close to fine dining as well as the NY Deli experience. Proximity to subway for cheap travel is 1 block away and a grocery is right around the corner as well as flowers and shopping. The hotel rooms are spacious by NY standards and Clean.Avis certifié Expedia

"Hidden gem on the Upper West Side"
The hotel was in our old neighborhood, so very convenient for us. Clean, nice staff, refurbished. My only complaint was the room was very small (fine for an overnight but not great for more than that) and the bathroom, while well appointed was tiny.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"convenient location - out of the hustle and bustle"
Stayed at the BelleClaire for 3 nights last week while I was visiting my daughter who is a student at SAB at Lincoln Center. Perfect location - short walk from 79th st. subway line goes all the way to south ferry. Market right downstairs, drug store across the street, and we found a little diner (called the New Wave) just a block up, also a Serafina […] is on the corner serving Italian lunch and dinner. Longish walk or quick cab ride to Central Park. This is a boutique hotel, so don't expect big anything, but it was fine - staff, especially the bellmen, were very nice. Air conditioning in room was loud, and lobby a little worn, but room was more spacious than I've had before in NYC and it was very clean. Felt safe, and beds were very comfortable! I'd stay again! "Good location, lots of good restaurants"
Our room felt cramped, air conditioner was loud. Everything about the hotel is cramped and old. The bed was comfortable, but we had to ask for basics, clean towels and soap. Our poor experience began when I was asked to authorize $50 per day on my card for the snacks in the room. I told the young man I was not intending to purchase the snacks but he […] insisted on this fee anyway, saying it was common policy. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia

"Lovely location, hotel with old time charm."
In town for 5 days, we really enjoyed being away from the craziness, noise and crowds of the Midtown/Times Square area. I had almost booked hotels there and was very glad to have decided on the Belleclaire. It is in a wonderful neighborhood with cafes and gourmet grocery shops (to pick up your wine & cheese!) easy walking distance to Central Park, the […] Lincoln Center and lots of shopping. The subway is close by too. The hotel has old-time charm, but is a little worn around the edges. The photos are a little bit flattering, but overall, we were very happy with our choice. We would definitely stay there again, but perhaps try to get a higher floor with a better view. The front desk was very helpful and efficient. There were free beverages (mint water / tea / juice) in the lobby in the afternoons and coffee & muffins/croissants were available for purchase in the morning. The umbrellas came in very handy! Would definitely recommend this place if you're the type of traveler that doesn't require luxury to have a great time. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
Switched my room with my daughter, son n law and grand son,. they were not comfortable given the small space and queen size bed. Son n Law had requested room with a king size bed... anyway , the a/c was noisy in the room and the cost of the snacks in room were scandalous.... $10.00 bottle of water.... wickedAvis certifié Hotels.com
The Hotel Belleclaire was wonderful. A beautiful building inside and out, in a fantastic neighbourhood. Central Park an easy walk away, passing by the Shake Shack, which is an absolute must!! Plenty of shops, check out Barnes and Noble! Lovely cafes where you get to meet the locals. Hotel was clean, Concierge very knowledgeable, staff helpful. We had a great 2 day visit to New York. The hotel is very conveniently located. The staff were outstanding! "Good location & good facilities"
WE stayed 5 nights at Hotel Belleclaire for the money paid the room was of a reasonable standard and not too small. There was a media room that you could print out emails and access a computer, this was helpful. Staff were approachable and helpful. The bathroom however was very small and had no real storage area, this could be improved. a cofee machine […] or kettle would have been nice. The surrounding area was very nice with a good fruit and vegetable market along with just about everything sold in the shop. "Beautiful hotel in the UWS"
This is our second stay at Hotel Belleclaire. The first was a few years ago while they were doing a renovation. The renovation is really very nice - the lobby and our room were gorgeous. When we checked in, the hotel staff informed us that they had upgraded us to a room with a king bed. No view to speak of, but comfortable king size bed, cold AC, lovely […] shower, plenty of space for a New York room. There was a small bottle of wine, a chocolate bar and some pretzels as a welcome package. Quiet room. Did experience one power outage when drying my hair, which was quickly fixed by staff.
