"2nd Time Here"
I really enjoyed my second trip here. I love the location, ease of access, staff and the building/rooms themselves. The room was very clean and reasonably priced. It is a short walk to Central Park or the National History Museum, and the walk to TImes Square and the Theater District isn't terribly long either. I'd recommend this hotel to a friend or […] family member. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"If you're after a very ggod hotel with great price"
Stayed for 6 nights during the beginning of August. We asked for a hudson River facing room and we got it for a small extra. The room is very clean and quiet. The hotel receptionists are very patient and nice. There are Two subway stations in the area and it usually doesn't take more than 5-10 minutes to get to Times Square. It's also a walking distance […] to Central Park. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Nice location but room could be improved."
It is in a very nice neighbourhood with lots of supermarket(Fairway and Trader Joes), restaurant and shops close by. There is not too much noise and we went for morning walk at the centAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Great Hotel for our stay"
The hotel was away from the craziness of mid-town but close enough to easily get there by train. The surrounding area had plenty of shopping, restaurants and close to central park. Although the rooms are small as most are in NY, it was well maintained and comfortable. The bathroom can use some updating but overall the hotel was very good.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Not spacious room - maintenance needed"
I've booked this hotel online. The photos looked great but when I checked in the hotel, it didn't look like the advertising pictures. The double room is very small and very old. My bath really needed some maintamce. The bath tap was broken while I was having a shower. I called the reception and they did send a handyman to come to my room to fix it. […] The room was very old and not very clean. I was very disappointed about this hotel. I stayed there for 7 days and I just used the room to sleep at night and I tried not to stay there during the day. I wouldn't recommend to my family or friends at all. The prices are not cheap and it's not worth it to stay at this hotel. And I don't think it should be rated as 4 x stars hotel. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"upper west side gem"
Our room was a suite--really spacious, up-to-date finishes, and spotless--with a nice view up Broadway to boot. Don't know how well the standard rooms rate.Avis certifié Hotels.com
We stayed here while visiting Columbia U. The location is just a few subway stops from Columbia and sites we wanted to see further south. The rooms were very nice. In lieu of the $50 daily garage fee I paid them $25 and they parked my car on the street for me, and I could even have done that myself. Great bakery around corner from lobby entrance, and […] next to it a great little grocery store with large deli prepared food section made it easy to get food to save some money. Hotel Belleclaire was the perfect contrast to staying in Times Square. It's a great neighborhood for walking, restaurants, markets, and window shopping. Staff was very accommodating--and we were able to check in about 9:30am. Room was lovely, although a little small -- however, certainly not the smallest by NY standards. Breakfast bar in lobby. Complimentary […] cool drinks in the afternoon. Walking distance to the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Natural History, and Central Park. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Good location near to the metro, good selection of shops and restaurants nearby. The only downside with the room is that it lacked double glazing and and as a result there was a lot of noise that could be heard from the street BroadwayAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Hidden gem on the Upper West Side"
The hotel was in our old neighborhood, so very convenient for us. Clean, nice staff, refurbished. My only complaint was the room was very small (fine for an overnight but not great for more than that) and the bathroom, while well appointed was tiny.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Switched my room with my daughter, son n law and grand son,. they were not comfortable given the small space and queen size bed. Son n Law had requested room with a king size bed... anyway , the a/c was noisy in the room and the cost of the snacks in room were scandalous.... $10.00 bottle of water.... wickedAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Good location & good facilities"
WE stayed 5 nights at Hotel Belleclaire for the money paid the room was of a reasonable standard and not too small. There was a media room that you could print out emails and access a computer, this was helpful. Staff were approachable and helpful. The bathroom however was very small and had no real storage area, this could be improved. a cofee machine […] or kettle would have been nice. The surrounding area was very nice with a good fruit and vegetable market along with just about everything sold in the shop. A new French patisserie and good deli also. 3 minutes walk to subway. Would stay there again. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
"They don't tell you everything"
I have almost nothing bad to say about the Hotell Belleclaire. The hotel is nice, clean, good location. The rooms are small but mostly well appointed, though I didn't love the window AC unit nor the chemical smell in the bathrooms. Here's what got me though, I make sure where ever I stay has free wifi, and they do ... kinda. Turns out you get free wifi […] access to a limited internet, and if you want regular internet access you have to pay. Not happy about that. If I'd known ahead of time I probably would have looked for a different hotel. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com

The hotel was great. The service was wonderful. The room was very small, but very nice. For the price, the hotel would be hard to beat. Five star service but only paying for a 3 star hotel.Avis certifié Hotels.com

We were over for a family wedding and found our stay great, The room was very Spacious and Clean. The staff very friendly. When we go back to New York, we will be staying at this hotel. I would recommend this hotelAvis certifié Hotels.com
"Small, okay rooms in a GREAT LOCATION"
The rooms are small. We stayed in a suite which was about the size of a $80 a night doble or single room anywhere else. However, the staff were nice and the neighborhood around the hotel was fantastic. Only three blocks from the natural history museum & cental park, and about 7 blocks from the Dakota/Strawberry Fields. A few blocks from the subway line […] as well. My family and I enjoyed a lovely stay in Hotel Belleclaire. The position is absolutely wonderful - near Central Park , fantastic Fairways , Metropolitian Opera and Lincoln Center and Juilliard. We stayed at the Belleclaire for 5 nights. The room was quite dark during the day. The window etc.was very old. The A.C was old and noisy/ The bathroom could have more shelf space and hooks to hang up things. There were none...In short, the room was clean but could be improved and so could the bed and the pillows for the price we paid.. "What you see is what you get"
Room was very small, and there were no "extras" - no free coffee or tea, etc. But it was a clean room in the neighborhood I wanted to be in. Staff was able to keep my suitcase from when I got there till it was time to check in. They pre-charged my entire stay plus $100 -- (in case I trashed the room, I guess) -- no other hotel has ever done that. But […] they corrected it when we left, so no problem. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Hotels.com
Rooms are small and workable but the cleaning is random. Most days cleaning occurred (for us) after 4pm. So if you plan on going out for a short while and coming back to work or use the room, forget it. And the cleaning was not thorough or sheets changed (even at request), shower still had hair in it but the place was clearly disinfected as you could […] smell the alcohol down the hallways. But as a base for tourism, it is fine. And if you get a good price, it is almost good. Staff were accommodating and helpful in almost every request. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia

"overpriced and aweful"
advertised as 3.5 stars and charged 450 a night. I have stayed at many hotels in nyc and this was by far the worst value. had to change rooms twice upon arrival due to dirty bathrooms and dysfunctining ac units. friendly and helpful staff, but this place should be way cheaper for what you get. tiny, dingy rooms.Avis certifié Hotels.com
"Hotel close to restaurants and Central Park"
The hotel is very easy to get to if you are arriving in New York from New Jersey and the Geo Washington Bridge, via the Hudson River Parkway. The staff at the Hotel Belleclaire were were very courteous and helpful. The cleanliness was average. The hotel is a handsome older property built between 1900 and 1910. After the first night in a handicap room […] which was less than convenient for several reasons, we requested a move to another room, when we discovered a cockroach scurrying around the bathroom. The staff at the front desk apologized and immediately arranged to move us. The new room was quite acceptable. The valet parking was handy. The concierge was helpful and polite. The rooms and furniture in our rooms need a touch up with paint and/or touch-up stain and varnish. The bed and bath linens were plentiful and nicely done. The hotel is very handy to Central Park, two blocks to restaurants, subways are close, with lots of taxis. Lobby is tidy and has a nice coffee bar and free newspapers. such a lovely hotel. incredibly located - situated between the park, the hudson river, and one block away from the subway. the staff were magnificent. The room and beds were comfortable. Will definitely stay here again.Avis certifié Hotels.com
Enjoyed our stay, no complaints about the hotel at all. Loved the neighbourhood and proximity to Central Park and walkable to Times Sq. I would definitely stay again. The only hiccup was the 2 hr taxi queue at JFK and the fact that the hotel offered a shuttle to the airport much cheaper than a cab.Avis certifié Expedia
"Small and lack of attention to detail"
Given the smallest room on the floor and they tried to up sell us to a larger room. The cleaning staff missed a whole lot of dirt on the window sill which was cleaned the next day when we left a note. The building was under construction so the inner view was of the scaffolding. Also noticed that the conditioner bottle was not closed and was half used […] on the first day of our arrival. Holes could be seen in the sheets when we went to bed one night. Other than that our stay was fine and the bed was comfortable. Not sure it was worth what we paid per night though. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia

"Location, location, location"
I live in New York City, but as is sometimes the case, I needed to be out of my apartment for one night. I chose this hotel and was pleased by its central location on the West Side. "ABOVE AVERAGE PROBABLY"
Although a bit out of town, only about 15-minute metro ride into Times Square from station two blocks away. If you like a hearty breakfast, you won't get one here. Pastries and coffee is about their limit. Some decent cafés and restaurants serve breakfast very close. Also, if you like your morning tea/coffee, then you will have to go downstairs to the […] reception area and carry back to your room in the lift! You will be charged for this if you have not booked B&B. No kettle in the rooms. Bit silly, as after breakfast is over, they offer complimentary tea in reception all day! Our room was spacious, clean, and well serviced every day. Not enough draw/cupboard space for 4-5 nights worth of clothes. I asked for a quiet room and was put in a 7th floor room overlooking Broadway? Very noisy. If you want to use the air-conditioner, it is noisy. Staff were nice. Hotel only three/four blocks from Central Park. Handy shops close to hotel ie pharmacy, bank, restaurants, clothes, etc. Nice Italian restaurant across the road. I would stay again! My husband and I were very impressed with the hotel. The room had plenty of space and was very clean. The staff was friendly without being oppressive. "Beautiful building close to Central Park"
Only a five minute walk from Central Park, among a beautiful stretch of old buildingsAvis certifié Expedia
I liked almost everything about this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable. Noise from the hallways and our neighbors was minimal and never bothersome. We were on the second floor which was ideal for quick comings and goings without having to wait for the elevator. That said, I didn't notice the elevator wait […] times to be excessive. Ideally, I should have requested a room away from Broadway as the street noise made it difficult for me to fall asleep but during waking hours it was fun to see all the action. The free internet worked fine and the mini fridge was great for storing ready made meals from the very convenient 24 hour grocer next door. Also liked that the bathroom had a window that opened. "Nice hotel and staff was friendly and helpful."
The hotel was very clean and the lobby was welcoming. The front desk staff, concierge and door men were all kind, friendly and helpful. They made our stay very pleasant. Our room had a queen size bed, desk, desk chair and small refrigerator. It was perfect, considering the amount of time we spent in the room. It's located very close to a CVS pharmacy […] and grocery store, which was convenient. The bathroom was not too small. The shower was nice, with a fine flowing shower head and plenty of hot water. There was a business center on the first floor with three computers and a printer. I printed off our flight departure ticket and it went smoothly. They offer coffee in the lobby for sale, but we always left and got coffee on our way to our destination. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
"Love the neighborhood"
Overall a very positive experience! The only thing we were surprised about initially was how small the room (hallway & elevator) was...that being said everything in New York is smaller than we are used to. However, as the week went on we just got used to it & adapted to the space. There really was no issue or shortage of space. Our room & general hotel […] space was clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We loved the neighborhood the hotel is located in ~ feels very homey. We'd stay here again when visiting NYC. Lisez la suiteAvis certifié Expedia
"Nice hotel for the price"
This was probably one of the cheaper hotels in New York and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. The room was clean and the facilities were good. The bed was extremely comfortable. The staff was pleasant and courteous but to be honest we spent very little time in the hotel as we were out all day sight seeing and just came back in the evenings […] to sleep. The location is a little far out but it didn't bother us as we walked everywhere so if you want to be in the middle of all the action this is not the hotel for you its about 4/5 stops from Times Square.
