Hôtel situé à la limite d'un quartier qualifié par plusieurs guides touristiques comme n'étant pas très sûr la nuit. Je précise cependant n'avoir pas avoir été inquiété. Chambre un peu bruyante ( ronflements entendus de la chambre voisine, bruit des pas des occupants de celle d'au-dessus ). Ni coffre ni bar dans la chambre. Petit déjeuner copieux, mais un peu succinct et inégal.

Accueil excellent. Chambres grande (familiale) et très propre. Petit déjeuner copieux, varié et excellent. Seules les rues adjacentes sont un peu glauques. Mais le parking privé évite tout problème.

Very friendly hotel staff. Free internet and received free parking for having booked online here. The room is a bit old & shabby. This is an old building and no updates have been done. Bed was *very* hard with a rancid smelling cover and insufficient pillows (2 very thin). There's no heat on the radiator if you like to sleep with the window cracked. Plus side - downtown (albeit not the best neighborhood) and good rates. It is a historic building and hasn't been rehabbed. Long story short - good hotel for an inexpensive business traveler. Disappointment: continental breakfast takes place in a VERY cold room/space currently being rebuilt as a bar & restaurant. Cornflakes, skim milk, white & wheat bread for toast, and coffee. Limited hours (only 7-9am). There is *no* coffee in the room or anywhere else in the hotel except during those hours. Would I stay again? Only as a last choice - and being better prepared.

The Embassy Hotel is a little out of the major avenues which makes it a quiet place to stay, walking distance to a lot of public transportation lines, easy to find and it has a fairly large private parking lot, convenient and safe. A few blocks south of the hotel toward Market St., the neighborhood might look unsafe for some, but it's easy to avoid it if it makes you uncomfortable. The staff is very friendly, accommodating, efficient and attentive to the guests needs, with a sort of family like atmosphere, accentuated by a common room where breakfast is served and a common computer available in the lobby for internet access. The breakfast could be improved, there was only toasts and cereals, it could use yogurt and fruits. But the coffee was excellent. The room was clean, spacious and quiet, the TV a little old but still working properly. Overall, the Embassy Hotel is a good option for staying downtown, it's not your fancy and upscale hotel, but you'll feel welcome and you'll be satisfied.

If you're used to staying in newer hotels, it's a bit of a shock at first when you walk into this hotel built in 1932. But they left the old charm of San Francisco that makes this hotel wonderful and updated just the right things such as bathroom fixtures. It is super clean too! I arrived early and they even came in and did a quick cleaning in the evening again while I was out. Wifi worked great! I was also surprised at how quiet the hotel was overnight. I would definitely stay here again. It was a wonderful part of the old San Francisco experience.

Ideal for low budget trips, the breakfast is included and is okey, rooms are simple and clean, too noisy thought since you can hear every step in the hall and in the the other rooms... if you are a deep sleeper and do not mind the noise, go for it... the service is good, they are friendly... we arrived at night and let's say the neighbourhood was not inviting to take a walk in the surroundings.

The Embassy Hotel was a horrible hotel. It was very dirty and disgusting. The sheets were dirty and the bathroom had rusted pipes... DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

It's just a 10 to 15 minutes walk to Union Squire and near Museum. Clean room. I'm very satisfied with my stay for its price.

The room was pretty spacious and pretty clean. It could have used a fan and the head board was pretty dirty with stains on it, kinda gross but other than that things were great. I absolutely loved the bathroom...very cute and we had plenty of hot water and great water pressure which is very important to me. It was extremely close to everything we needed especially the Bill Graham. So over all our stay was very pleasant.

The Embassy is an older hotel in a lousy neighborhood. There are residents of the hotel, the rooms are clean but rundown, and the staff was helpful. It worked for us for this trip, but we probably won't be staying here again. Parking was a definite plus.

I really did not know what to expect as I have worked in the hotel business before. so I know and understand how some things work and each place has its uniqueness. The staff seemed very helpful especially the afternoon clerk, Bill. I was very pleased to have the opportunity to chat with him about different issues and have a very good conversation. It was an excellent and convenient location for me as I know some of the buses that I needed to catch and how to get to where I needed to go. Everything I needed to get to was within walking distance and I felt safe because all of the city, state and federal buildings were right there

the room was very small, dark, outdated - from leaking toilet to old/used-up furniture, small tv and the remote that can't do basics as switch on/off function. the neighborhood is better not to stick your nose outside after 6 pm. But then again, i guess, it's the best you can get for the price in downtown SF...

The hotel was okay. At least the parking was gated which was a plus. The rooms were smelly, and you could hear everything at night! The ambulance sirens were very loud and felt like i was outside right next to it. breakfast was served from 7 to 9 and very simple some bread and juice. Will not stay there again.

The hotel was beautiful, convenient, has friendly service, was extremely clean and above all i felt safe. There is gated parking, continental breakfast and the best part is there is a bar and grill connected to the hotel. Almsot everything you need is in walking distance and the rooms are beautiful.

The hotel has spent a lot of time trying to upgrade the rooms, lobby etc. The hallway looks 1940's and smells like a natural gas leak or a rest home. The room was nice for the cost except I was almost out of toilet paper the day I checked in. House keeping did not show the 2nd day, now I was out of toilet paper. The hooker in the lobby was friendly and told me she was $10 short on rent (I guess that was a proposition). You are downtown in this property - so a lot of people are down on there luck wandering around. Don't go sight seeing after dark. Polk is apparently a major emergency vehicle route - so you get to hear sirens and fire truck air horns till midnight. They were louder because I was on the street side and had to sleep with the window open (no AC). For the price in downtown, it served the purpose I was in town for. I only needed a bed and shower - it sufficed for that. I should mention the gated parking was a plus in this area.

This hotel definitely surpassed my expectations. The room was very well kept and clean. Only one channel was viewable, but that didn't really matter since we didn't spend too much time in our room. Unfortunately, there was no hot water during of the mornings of our stay, so I was forced to take a cold shower. Free parking was such a relief, but the lot is small and fills up quickly. If you lose your spot you're forced to park on the street. Be sure to read the parking signage to ensure to don't get towed or a ticket. Very close to civic center BART/muni station, Overall, very satisfied with hotel and experience.

After living in San Francisco for 15 years, I often return to the city for weekend get-away's. I've stayed at a variety of hotels. I just completed my 4th stay @ The Embassy Hotel and will the next time. The Embassy is central to pretty much everything in town. If not, you're surrounded by a myriad of transit options. The property itself is older, full of charm, clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated - with matching furnishings!! It's not the 4 seasons and sometimes the crown molding isn't painted by the most steady of painters. But, If you're looking for a clean, safe, comfortable place to 'hang your hat' while in San Francisco, the Embassy Hotel - with parking and breakfast INCLUDED, is hands down, The BEST Value.

Upon arrival I walked into a room with undistinguishable odors. No electrical worked on one side of the room. The alarm clock and the lamps did not work. I was able to change rooms. The room did not smell as bad as the first one and at least the electricity worked. The heat source was an old fashioned wall water radiator that hissed all night. It was at the head of one of the beds. There was no alarm clock and a very unsafe practice of using a cheap extension cord for power to the tv and lamps. I would not recommend a stay at this hotel even for the money it was disgusting.

We had a medical appointment in SF and The Embassy Hotel fit us perfectly. The staff was courteous and helpful. Special thanks to the young man with the Irish accent for helping us with laptop connection.

After arriving at the hotel I was very skeptical when receiving an actual key verses a key card, but I thought cool retro. I got into my room and after laying on the pillows decided they were a little flat and needed a couple more. After going down to the front desk (which never had the same worker twice) I was told the hotel doesn't keep extra pillows but that they could steal them from another room if I wanted if they weren't sold out. The free continental breakfast was served in the bar that was attached to the hotel and smelled of the liquor from the night before. This hotel is far from the great reviews it was given on hotels.com. I would never stay here again nor would I recommend it. The neighborhood is not something people should ever walk alone in at night. This was a very unsatisfying hotel.

We were very happy with our stay although the location of the hotel is not for everyone - one has to walk quite a bit to find restaurants etc. But we like to walk and we enjoyed getting to know a new area of S.F. There are numerous street people in this section but we found them pleasant and well behaved.

...this was perfect. A good price for a clean room with comfy beds. It was cozy and the hotel itself had an antique feel about it which i loved.

Overall, the experience was adequate. The hotel offered no amenities whatsoever and there were very few free parking spaces available. The surrounding five block area is old, dirty, and housed many homeless people. Could not walk a block without being solicited by at least one. Fortunately, we spent very little time at the hotel.

My stay was fortunately only one night and a short night at that. I was greeted with a roach in the bathroom and the constant smell of cigarettes in the room. The TV is so small you need a telescope to see it. There was not an alarm clock. The Lobby also had a cigarette smell. The breakfast in the morning looked OK, but I was skeptical because of the roach I had to kill. There was water damage to the ceiling and mold on the tile in the bathroom. In general the hotel is run down and tired. The neighborhood is less than desirable -- the Tenderloin. The hotel is close to a BART station (Civic Center). Don't expect much if you plan on staying!

When I booked this hotel I had very low expectations just because of the price and the star rating but the overall quality was actually surprising. I had no major problems with the room or any employees. Some minor maintenance in the room may have been overlooked but everything seemed to work sufficiently without having to call for problems or maintenance. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who would want a basic, carefree room that gets the job done.

I had read the reviews for this hotel prior to my stay. Previous patrons had mentioned an "old" feel of the hotel. I think "antique" would be a more appropriate description. Clean, comfortable, colorful and reminiscent of the early 20th century, we really got a feel of early San Francisco. Staff was extremely helpful and free parking, although a bit tight, accomodated my full sized truck. Coffee shops within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again!

The hotel was very old, and the whole place smelled old. However, you must remember that you get what you pay for. The rate was extremely cheap, so I didn't go in with any great expectations. The parking was free, which was a big plus, and one of the reasons I chose to stay at Embassy. The lot was completely filled, but they let you double park and leave your keys at the front desk so they can move your car. The older man who worked at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. The elevator vibrations made me uneasy and the room was pretty basic. Everything worked, so I really can't complain. There was melted ice water in our ice bucket and dirty towels thrown on top of the dresser in the closet. The lighting was decent, and it was about a 20 minute walk to Union Square. All in all, I can't complain. It was really cheap, and it was pretty much what I expected. The hotel is really old, but they're making an effort to keep it decent. Remember. You get what you pay for, and if you're paying so little, you can only expect so much.

lets start at the begining.Check was 3pm we have 2 rooms we arrived at 4pm, one of the rooms was not ready. So had to get ready in one room.asked for more towels,the housekeeper said to see front desk.big run around Asked 3 times for towels finally took some off the housekeepings cart,when the did bring towels they were old and yellowed. the parking we had handicap parking but they gave that space away had to wait 25 min before one of the employee moved his car, or would of had to park down the center,and give desk keys to car. screen was also out in the room and cig. butts on window ledge,(so not a non smoking room).will not come back to this hotel.

Some irritating shortcomings included: non-smoking room smelled like smoke very slow and noisey elevator, could be heard from rooms maid staff jammed onto elevator with laundry carts, making guests wait or share with dirty laundry bathroom door wouldn't close minimal continental breakfast no tv remote control, tiny old fashioned tv

It was an okay hotel. We stayed for only one night but if we had been in the city for a longer period of time, I would have gotten a different hotel. It was comfortable and the price was right, but it's definitely for people on a budget and who won't be in the room for long periods of time. The surrounding neighborhood is pretty sketchy but we didn't really hang out there so it didn't bother us too much.

The rooms were clean but there was no refrigerator but the space it used to be was still there, I hate not having screens on the windows when you have to open them due to no a/c. The continental breakfast was a sugar rush. Toast, jelly, butter, nutella, choco chip muffins. There was apples and oranges though. The decorative pillows are not cleaned after every stay because one had a stain on it and the other one had a long hair on it. The hotel is one block from the worst neighborhood in downtown. But it is close to civic center, a park, and the Asian art museum. Not my first choice of a hotel room.

We have spent one night here, and overall we were very satisfied: the room was large, pretty clean (could be better, as a lot of dust has accumulated in the corners and under the furniture). Small but clean bathroom. The location was excellent for the Filmore (which was our target) and for starting a good city tour. The breakfast was decent. Complimentary parking was a clear advantage. We recommend it for a quick rest while visiting the city.

Convenient location for night scene. Also, close to pier 39 but not close enough to walk. Grab a cab or trolley. Free gated parking was a big bonus but spaces are kind of small.

The Embassy was a quaint hotel with parking provided. An excellant place to stay if you are attending an event at the Golden Gate Theater. The only complaint we had was our toilet leaked some water on the floor. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and there was plenty of closet space! Will definitely consider staying there on our next SF stay.

The hotel is a little shabby, but very clean and comfortable. Free parking is a huge bonus. It was easy to walk around downtown as the hotel was close to everything. There were a lot of vagrants in the area, but that is common wherever you go in SanFran. I would stay here again.
