"Perfect Hotel"
My boyfriend and I had a fantastic stay here over Easter weekend. Our first impression was wonderful, as the lobby and view are beautiful.. And from there on, our experience just got better and better. The grounds were beautiful despite it being the peak of dry season in Grenada, and there were always plenty of pool towels, chairs, and hammocks available […] even though the hotel was nearly full. The room was basic but still had all the creature comforts we needed: comfortable bed, good shower water temp/pressure, and AC that worked quickly and quietly! The hotel was very clean, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They recommended great restaurants and arranged reservations and cabs for us. We enjoyed drinks and food at the pool bar, which were very reasonably priced - comparable to other spots in Grenada. Breakfast was delicious with lots of local options as well as an omelette bar and fresh fruit. Ten-minute walk down the beach from Umbrella's (a fun beach bar) and Dive Grenada, a local scuba/snorkel company. Beach House and Aquarium are both fabulous restaurants that are a 10 minute cab ride away. The only complaint we had was that on the Monday we flew out, the breakfast restaurant wasn't open early enough (it opened at 7 am) for us to eat before needing to be at the airport. "Great location on Grand Anse beach."
We only stayed 1 night before flying home after a cruise. We chose this hotel because of its location (on the beach and close to the airport)and because it had free WiFi in our room, very important to us as we had to make new flight reservations and needed online access. Although only one floor up, there was no lift, no problem for us, but anyone with […] mobility problems may wish to request a ground floor room. Our room/bathroom was very clean and had been renovated to a good standard. Breakfast was a buffet in an open sided restaurant...the presentation and quality of the food was average, but our main concern was the local birds flying around the open restaurant trying to take food, we had to take it in turns to visit the buffet, the other person keeping the birds off the table! We didn't eat any other meal apart from breakfast, so can't comment on other meals. The pool and surrounding area was clean and attractive (there was a separate children's pool) so the main pool was quiet and relaxing. It appeared to be a quiet hotel, good location and overall we had a good stay there. The staff we met were friendly and courteous. The beach is very nice and great for a long walk. "Grenada Grand"
this is a very good hotel. There have been some comments about breaking on the internet, but I thought the hotel went to great lengths to give a comfort level with safety and security. But the biggest plus is it has a fabulous location on a gorgeous beach. The service is island time, but we were in no rush. The waterfall swimming pool was beautifully […] landscaped. "Case Study in Mismanagement"
Waited in lobby for 8 hours before room was ready. No drinks offered. Arrived in room with inoperable ceiling fan and air conditioning unit literally falling out of the wall. The AC ran so loud we had to turn it off to sleep, which is sort of warm in Grenada. No shampoo or soap in the room after cleaning on Day 1. No towels in the room after cleaning […] on Day 2. Room phone inoperable on Day 3. Room service not answering on Day 4. We prepaid for an Executive Beachfront room, so we expected things to be right. "Acceptable, although disappointing at times."
Our experience at check-in was disappointing. They had difficulty finding the reservation; then sent us to a room that was already occupied. Then we were sent to a room with 2 queen beds, instead of the king we had reserved. We asked for another room with a king bed, but were told none was available until the next day. We agreed to that, but the second […] room didn't become available until around 6 p.m. the next day; again, disappointing! There should be coffee perculators in each room that is replenished everyday. This is standard in most hotels world wide. There should be adaptors for the current. If diving classes are to take place in the pool this should be done early in the morning between 8.00 and 9.00 a.m. while most people are having breakfast. "Happy days"
After a harrowing flight we arrived at the hotel around 4.30 pm and my 22year old son and I were greeted with the usuall Grenadian steady paced charm. When I booked this hotel in December I contacted them with regard to requiring a twin bedded room and unfortunately the direct phone call to the hotel didn't make any difference to the lady on the reception […] desk as to what was required. I needed a wheel chair as my leg was so bad, they promptly provided me with one but when we got to the beautiful room it had a double bed in it!!! I contacted the desk and they moved us to another room on the eastern side of the complex which did have two beds but was very dark and cramped. I again contacted the desk by phone and let them know our concerns over the room they allocated, after a while I wheeled myself back to reception where after a half hour wait were allocated a room 5 doors away from the original room which was perfect. The room was very clean and bright and faced the beautiful horseshoe shaped pool and well kept gardens. At our request they placed a fridge in the room at no extra cost and the maids did a great job every day cleaning and changing bedding etc. Breakfast was good but not the same price as advertised in the room brochure and the evening food could be improved. The hotel is a 3 or 4 star in my opinion, but with mixed reasons. The lobby, front desk staff, beach and location are all fantastic. The rest of the building happens to be a little on the older side - older style with outdoor corridor with rows of doors. No ambiance here. Room OK. Clean with a comfortable bed, bathroom nicely updated but bathroom door […] did not shut and room safe did not work (I didnt complain as I was there just one night). My wife and I just returned from a wonderful, one week vacation at this property. It is located on an immnse beachfront location on beautiful Grande Anse Beach. There were no shortages of beach chairs at the pools and most of the time there were plenty of chairs for the beach. The property is meticulously maintained and there are two pools. The pool […] with the two waterfalls is really nice. It is surrounded by lush tropical greenery and it is a peaceful location to enjoy a day or to get out of the beach wind. We had a ground-floor beachfront room. It is clean and very basic with two double beds. After reading much about having to get refridgerators, we asked for one when we chaecked in and we were told that you have to reserve one at the time of booking. We were pleasantly surprised that there was one in the room (tiny) but it helped. There is a small mall across the street from the hotel with a grocery store, pharmacy and a nearby. a bank. There are three bars. Two of them are open until 11 P.M. Food may be ordered at any bar.The have been several critical reviews about the service at this hotel. Every member of the staff that we dealt with was polite and friendly. They did their absolute best to provide us with expediate and prompt service. However, I would say that the atmosphere at this property is "laid back". It was easy to see that there might be problems if a large group of people descended on any one place all at once. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels in the carribean..the grounds and gardens at Grenada Grand are breathtaking. My husband and I never had to get up early to reserve a chair...and you have the option of 3 pools or on the beach. The rooms are dated but we never spent any time in the room. The staff was cheerful..my only complaint would be that food […] service tends to be a little slow. Food was only a little above average but you can walk to many local restaurants and bars. Finally, beachfront rooms are very close to water....we could hear the waves even with patio doors closed. Walked the beach and checked out the more expensive resorts nearby...no comparison to the foliage, flowers and mature trees in The Grande...we will be back next year! Service was inconsistent. Bathroom amenities were not always replaced, towels were a precious commodity and not always readily available. Food service was slow and items listed were not always available. Food was good, but you need to remember "island time". The grounds are lovely and they had a nice cocktail reception one night and live entertainment […] each night that was very good. If you're an early bird and don't like the noise of the above, make sure you're not in room 205. We could hear everything from downstairs but it was manageable. The Grenada Grand Beach Resort was a pleasant surprise. The grounds of the resort is a manicured landscape creating a very pleasant and relaxing envirnoment. The grounds of the resort are sprawling with a continuous ocean view as you walk the grounds. The two swimming pools are placed to accent the architecture and landscape of the resort. A traditional […] lap style pool with a view directly to the ocean is first seen when walking down the main promenade of the resort. The other pool is free form style with a swim-up bar accented with rock outcroppings, pedestrian bridges, hot tubs and landscape. Its extremely picturesque. The dining areas blend into the circulation areas creating a very open feeling. The food was very good. The front desk, dining staff, and service all were accomodating, extremely friendly and welcoming. Each and every person at this resort greets you first with a smile and they continue with being gracious, considerate and polite. More importly they are sincere. I was impressed that there were some room renovations being done because this means the resort cares to maintain its image and be progressive. The rooms are clean and traditional in style. I recommend an ocean view room and I can't wait to return. I am a parent of a St. George's University student who will be traveling frequently to Grenada in the next few years. We had a wonderful stay in Grenada at the Grand Beach Resort. The amenities are not unltra modern, but they are very comfortable, clean and well maintained. The restaurants and pools are very upscale. And the beach is absolutely perfect (and safe). Diving excursions run from the on site dive shop and you can visit the underwater dive park nearby (a […] must see). "Great location - horrible service!"
They only good thing about this trip was the location of the hotel, right on the beach and the staff in the restaurant. It took two days for us to get the refrigerator we requested. Then, they put one in the middle of our hotel room and didn't plug it in. We had to call for maintenance to hook it up and when he moved it, he left a huge water puddle […] in the room. We could not call housekeeping directly to clean the mess because our phone did not work for 7 of the 9 days we were there and when the problem was "fixed," we were unable to retrieve voicemail messages. Housekeeping left us coffee and sugar packets but never left stir sticks until we started asking. They never left wash cloths and sometimes failed to leave hand towels; everyday we had to call and ask them to bring us some. Sometimes they brought us ONE, even though there were 3 of us in the room. The fan in the bathroom never worked. The safe battery went out halfway through our trip and we were unable to retrieve the contents for over an hour as we waited for maintenance to come to our room to "reprogram" it. Our room key had to be "reprogrammed" at least four times during our stay. Imagine coming to your room from the beach, holding an infant and wet towels in your hand only to realize that your key no longer works and you have to ONCE AGAIN go to the front desk to ask them to fix the problem. "Wonderful Hotel-Grand Anse Beach-For Visiting SGU"
My wife and I are repeat patrons at the Grenada Grand Resort. The Grenada Grand shows a little wear, but is currently being renovated extensively. Unfortunately, there were few guests while we were there. There was quite a bit of work throughout the day. It could be bothersome to some, but my wife and I were expecting it (having learned of it beforehand). […] The sounds of work nearby (during the day) were not overly intrusive. I peeked into some of the rooms being renovated and they appeared to be nice, modern and atrractive updates. We plan to return next year and look forward to seeing the finished work. We've stayed at the Grand before and really enjoyed it and the location. Also, we wanted to do some scuba diving with Adrian and Rahel at Native Spirits dive shop on the grounds. We find the Grand very convenient to all the locations and activities that we want be involved in. Downtown St. Georges is only a $5EC bus ride away. Booked two beachfront rooms at this Hotel through Expedia for a friend and myself, staying for almost 10 days. Reception desk efficient and friendly. Outstanding, sprawling, well kept grounds on beautiful, andy beach. Three clean and well maintained swimming pools with plenty of available lounge chairs under umbrellas and shade trees. Three bars and […] main restaurant offer some local and international fare with ample brakfast buffet for most tastes. After a few days, main menus became somewhat repetitive but healthy and exceeding local standards. As hotel was only partially occupied, evening activities were limited-not the place to stay if you expect vibrant in-hotel nite life. Great for families and quiet relaxation. If you expect glitzy show like ambiance, go to Miami or Vegas. This is as good as it gets in the Caribbean. Outstanding friendliness and warmth of the local people. "Good hotel in good locations"
We stayed in an Executive Beachfront Room on the second floor and I would recommend this type of room. There was a fridge and safe, the air con was quiet and effective, the bed was huge and comfy, and the view was lovely. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful - organising restaurant bookings, taxis, taking luggage to the room. The […] service at breakfast and lunch was a little slow but not too bad. We did find the food quite expensive, although this was true at quite a lot of the restaurants we visited in Grenada. The position of the hotel is good as it's right on the beach (about half way down) and fairly close to supermarkets, banks and a few other restaurants, e.g. Le Chateau, Carib Sushi, La Boulangerie (Italian) and Umbrellas (although the walk to the first three restaurants is along a dark main road in the evening). There was constant security working, and we felt safe. The beach is lovely and there are sun loungers for guests to use. The pools are also nice, again with plenty of sun loungers. The hotel is about a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport (US$16, EC$40) and about 15 minutes from St Georges (you can get the bus from outside the hotel for EC$2.5). "Things that make you go hmm..."
A beautiful location, large complex and the front desk staff, bell staff and housekeeping were delightful! The hotel is tired to say the least. They are renovating some rooms (new ceramic tile) and it just happened to be next to ours - who wants to awaken to the sound of saws at 7am on vacation!!! Beds are uncomfortable, pillows worse, no coffee in […] the room, no ice bucket, no wifi,... Something is not right when you ask for pool towels and there are none and still none several hours later; when it takes over 2 hours for lunch not because you are enjoying and having a leisurely lunch, but because the wait staff would rather chat with each other than bring your garden salad; there were 8 adults sitting at the bar at 9:30pm after dinner and the bartender closed the bar and no last call and a too bad attitude; lastly and probably the telltale of problem - there is an outdoor barbecue lunch many guests standing in line as they ran out of food (understandable!) but the hotel manager walks around the line and places orders for "their" lunches so the next/first at least 5 are for staff...there was not a guest in line including the nice lady sweating over the barbecue who was not appalled. Although the location of the hotel is superb, the customer service could use a little more effort in its quality. Our room was not clean until 4 in the afternoon. We stopped at one of the bars at about 12:30pm. Hotel accommodations are very good. However while at the property during holidays and forced to eat at hotel restaurant because everything was closed, we realized that we were overcharged for entrees ordered in addition to the long wait to receive our food. I HAD to demand that I be charged the price stated on the menu which was a 9$ EC difference. […] The $$ correction took far too long to resolve. Some of the staff members were not knowledgeable and retraining restaurant staff on registers is needed. "Two day stay after sailing on the Mandalay"
We stayed at another hotel close by for two nights pre-sailing. Then we stayed at the Grenada Grand for two nights post-sailing. Our reception was very good, checked in promptly and bags taken to the room with a smile. The Grenada Grand has a beautiful facility with multiple pools, restaurants and bars. Unfortunately, none of the restaurants/bars had menus that appealed and when we had a hamburger at the bar, it was pretty tasteless-better food off grounds IMO. Surprisingly, service was churlish and unfriendly at the bar, unlike everyone else we came across in Grenada. Maybe he was having a bad day. While the location of the hotel is great, some improvement is needed in terms of the quality/condition of the rooms, increase staff at key locations e.g. check-in/out counter and Bamboo bar. More bath towels are needed as they appear to be always out of towels when needed by guests. I am a Grenadian-Canadian and decided to treat my boyfriend ( a non Grenadian who has never been to the island before) and booked accommodation at Grenadian Grand Hotel. We knew going in that it was a 3 star hotel but quite frankly this hotel should be a 1 or 2 star at best. The only thing this hotel has going for them is the beach front. However please […] note that there are at least 4 other hotels next door located on the beach as well. You may spend more money but the Service will be much ,much better. The customer service at Grenada Grand Hotel was unacceptable. My family that lives on the island called me several times and left messages with the front desk and the staff never passed on the message. Obviously this caused a huge communication breakdown causing major problems for me. Our trip was a short trip ( 3 days) and so receiving these messages were an important part of our trip. The hotel failed badly on this. The hotel ran out of clean towels (??). When asking for clean towels the next day the hotel still said they had no clean towels available (??) leaving me to dry off with my clothes. When I approached the front desk, they said they'd have someone put clean towels in our room. My boyfriend and I left for hours and returned only to have no towels in our room. Grenada is a hot island. Coming back to your room to take a shower can be the most refreshing thing ever. Going 2 days without towels is like covering yourself with mud. Stay somewhere else!! I love this hotel. I have stayed here several times. Unfortunately, this time there were several problems. The phone never worked. I told the front desk several times. They never fixed it. I had to walk to the front desk for everything. I couldn't even order room service. I asked for an extra pillow it took 4 requests and 2 days to get a pillow. And […] several other problems.
