I stayed here one night for a party night after working a couple days in DC. I chose this hotel over some cheaper ones because, well, I'm a hotel snob and I wanted to stay at a fun and posh hotel. It's also in a great area and close to Eighteenth Street Lounge, which is where my gal pals and I were going to the night we stayed here. The room we were […] checked into smelled like cigarette smoke, so we were immediately moved to a cleaner room. Thanks! The staff was super friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed staying here, and I would highly consider staying again if I am ever in DC. Lisez la suite

"My stay at Topaz"
Very comfortable apart from the pillows. Love the hotel staff and location.
Thanks for posting a review! I'm glad to read that you got lost in our pillows and not in our neighborhood. It's a fun area to explore. Come back again soon!

Beautiful hotel with exceptional, cooperative staff. Probably the friendliest and most helpful staff I've ever encountered! Never been to DC and they were well-informed on the Metro, timinng, etc-very helpful! Great neighborhood - only had to walk 5 mins. to Pinkberry for our nightly frozen yogurt!!! Only drawback, a little far from the main attractions-15 […] min. walk to White House - but a very safe, nice walk. Would definately go back to DC and would probably stay there again. Thanks Topaz staff! Lisez la suite
Thanks for the great review! I can’t wait to share your feedback with our team. Location Tip: we have an unusual amount of fantastic frozen yogurt options in our neighborhood. And I know more than I’d care to admit about them. Come back again soon. Bear down!

I booked through hotels.com for four nights. I got there at 9PM and they had no room for me--I had to travel 20 minutes across town to another Kimpton. Theyvwere quite nice and apologetic afterwards, but this cost me crucial time that I needed in DC. And, when I finally settled at the Topaz, the room, although large had an odd smell and as always seems […] to be the case with the Kimpton hotels, getting room service is a huge struggle. They are clearly understaffed. I will avoid Kimpton hotels in future. Lisez la suite

"It was OK, just OK."
The room and bathroom were extremely small. I also had a baby crib in the room and had to have that removed to get around the room. For the price of the room and comparing it to other Kimpton hotels, I was disappointed. The bartender was great though! She is an asset to the hotel!

"Topaz Hotel- good choice"
*I have stayed in this hotel for 3 years -everytime I am in DC. Friendly staff, convenient, quiet location.
"TOPAZ -- Nice DuPont Circle Digs"
Boutique in iots best sense: small, intimate, attentive, well-appointed, well-proportioned room. Very short walk to excellent next door restaurant. Considerably longer to other eateries, shopping. Definitely on my list for future DC trips.
"Cosmopolitan --Euro feel"
I lived in DC and was familiar with Topaz's location. The reception staff demonstrated the prototype of what hospitality reception -- professionalism, friendliness, informative with a great, genuine smile. Room and decor are beautiful and pleasant. Location is superb in proximity to Dupont Circle and subway entrances.

"Perfect spot!"
The hotel was located in the perfect spot for our plans. It was in walking distance to great restaurants & night spots. The staff was very friendly & accommodating. The room's decor was stylish, as was the overall look of the hotel. Two minor issues: we reserved a room with a king size bed (celebrating our anniversary) but we received a room with two […] queen beds instead. I called the front desk and was told we were given an upgrade and nothing comparable was available. The staff was nice enough about it but the bed we requested would have been nicer. Also, it was New Years Eve and the hotel bar closed at 11pm...on New Years Eve. All in all, it was a nice hotel and I would definitely go there again. Lisez la suite
"Topaz in DC - Great people and awesome location"
My girlfriends and I spent New Years in D.C. and needed a hotel close to the club where we were spending the evening. The Topaz Hotel had the most convenient location for the best price. The staff was very friendly (and even wore New Years hats!). The vibe in the lounge area was great, nice staff in a fun atmosphere. We shared a double queen room, which […] turned out great for four ladies because there was a vanity area. Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely go back to stay! Lisez la suite

"The hotel is cute and fun"
The only negative aspect was that the hotel refused to honor the lesser price we paid on our first night!
"Perfect hotel for business."
The hotel was perfect- very spacious, conveniently located, quiet, and modern. It was very clean too!
"Great hotel at a reasonable price"
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The location is wonderful-can walk to almost anything around the White House and Mall. Hotel staff very polite and helpful.
"Topaz Hotel DC- Girls weekend"
The hotel was in a good location. Close to Dupont Circle, metro, some shopping and good restaurants. Only thing we did not like was that here were events every night we were there and we could not utilize the bar or restaurant until after 10pm. Otherwise nice place to stay.
"Nicely updated!!"
I couldn't believe it was already time for the Topaz to update, but the rooms have been nicely refreshed and everything we always liked about the Topaz is still the same.... the staff was super-attentive to my needs and it's always nice to be greeted by name!
"Fine hotel in Washington DC."
Had a good stay at this fine hotel in Washington DC. Only complaint was that it was a little pricey.
"Topaz Hotel Dupont Circle Wsh DC"
Wanted to be near our daughter who lives in Dupont circle. Convenient and nice room within walking distance so perfect for our purpose.
"A Stnad Out Space"
We had any amazing stay at the Topaz. The Staff went out of their way to be helpful, and attentive. On check in we were asked what we were interested in doing while in Town, and when we went out in the evening, the desk staff had looked up and printed some mustic venues and acts on over the next few days for us to consider, and had marked their locations […] on a local street map for us! The room was utterly amazing - terrific decor, beautifully clean, and the locations was excellent - central, but on a side street so very quiet. We would most definitely stay here again on a return to Washington. Thank you everyone at the Topaz for being so charming :) Lisez la suite
"Topaz"
It's ok. Nothing at all special about the rooms. Nothing. The bathroom is pedestrian at best, and I was "upgraded" to a room with 2 queens when what I really wanted was one King size bed. In general, the place just didn't seem that fresh or interesting for the amount of money I paid.
"Topaz Washington"
Convenient location, boutique size, 10 min walk to subway, enjoyed chatting to other guests during the happy hour at the end of the day, fantastic staff
"LOVE the Topaz"
Staff is friendly (greeting us every time we come and go), hotel is clean and modern and stylish, and rooms are HUGE for the modest price. I've stayed here twice now and had a great experience both times. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.
"Cool Hotel in a hip neighborhood"
we had a really nice stay here, the location is great for the Du Point Circle neighbourhood which is great for restaurants and bookstores etc. It’s still within walking of the White House etc. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and clean although it is a refurbished older building so there are some imperfections […] in the corridors and common areas but all in all it is very nice. Complimentary wine every evening around 6 pm is a plus. Lisez la suite
"wonderful from start to finish"
The convenient location and fabulous rooms are great, but the staff are what make this Kimpton hotel such a knock out. They were fun, helpful, meticulous, caring, and professional; every staff interaction impressed me and made for a wonderful week-long stay.
"Hotel Topaz Stay"
My stay at Hotel Topaz far exceeded my expectation. The deluxe king room we stayed at was roomy, comfortable with a great work station. It's an oasis in a bustling area. Kudos to the hotel staff for making our stay a wonderful experience.
"No AC"
Beautifully decorated hotel but due to the fact the AC had kicked out multiple times throughout the night in the midst of a Washington hot summer, this hotel is only receiving 2stars out of 3. This sort of ruined the hotel experience for me.
"Lovely staff but issues"
Fabulous staff and nice rooms, but I asked two days in a row to have my air conditioning fixed - VERY loud tweeting all night. Nearly impossible to sleep. Staff claimed both times it was done. Not so, it was simply turned off so when I came in no noise until 3 am. Pretty frustrating.
"Topaz in Washington DC"
The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Location on a quiet street with little traffic is a plus. Yet Metro and good restaurants are a relatively short walk. We enjoyed our stay.
"Nice, out of the way hotel"
I stayed for 5 days as my daughter had never seen Washington DC. Kelly at the front desk was wonderful and greeted me every time she saw me, a nice touch. We had a Queen/Queen room which was just what we wanted. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was huge and the room was quiet. I did miss not having a refrigerator or microwave since we stayed […] for a few days, but I knew it wasn't offered when I booked the room. They have a free comedy night on Thursday's, which is a nice touch. The hotel is on a quiet street about 3 blocks from the red line train, which is easy to get to, and you are at the end of DuPont circle for activities and restaurants, which there are plenty. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I come back to visit more sights. Lisez la suite
"Topaz Hotel, Washington DC"
The hotel is lovely and very nicely located near a lot of restaurants, Metro, Dupont Circle. The staff is friendly. The rooms are well appointed and quite large. We chose the hotel because it said that it was pet friendly and allowed dogs. However, on both days we were there the room wasn't cleaned until I called the front desk. The first day, it was […] cleaned at 3:30 pm, the second day, no one came in even after I called at 4 pm. Then I was told that the Housekeeping staff went home. They tried to explain the reason (which they never told me before) was that we had our two dogs there. This made no sense since the front desk told us it would not be a problem to clean the room with the dogs in there. We have two small Cockapoos who are extremely friendly. They finally cleaned the room (the head Housekeeper did it) but only after several phone calls to the Front Desk. They should get their act together regarding their pet friendly advertisement and outline the limitations for bringing pets, explaining that the owners should not leave the dogs alone, etc. on their Website or through Hotels.com. "Very satisfied"
Pros: friendly and helpful staff, great location with easy metro access, variety of restaurants within walking distance, nice lounge off lobby Cons: small tub/shower, expensive valet parking Other note: Customer service was excellent. The staff provided us with tour information and restaurant recommendations. We had a problem with housekeeping entering […] our room with a "do not disturb" sign on the door while we were out. Due to a previous robbery at another hotel, I never have housecleaning enter during my stay. I was very upset, and the front desk handled the situation well. I would definitely return to Topaz and recommend it to others. Lisez la suite
"Excellent experience"
I had a wonderful stay at the Topaz. The staff were very pleasant, professional, and helpful, and the hotel has some very nice touches. The wine reception is a nice plus. Terrific location too. I would definitely stay again.
"Hotel Topaz in Washington, D.C."
The room was spacious, comfortble and pleasingly furnished. The valet parking service was convenient and excellent. Latanya, the front desk clerk on arrival and departure, was extremely friendly, pleasant, and helpful and was a good ambassador for you for our first visit. We are coming to stay at the Topaz again this month with friends from Australia. […] See you soon Lisez la suite
"The Topaz Hotel - Excellent Customer Service"
Customer Service has to be the most important thing for me when it comes to hotels. The staff went above and beyond to service our requests. The Topaz Bar (right in the hotel) also had a great staff and excellent drinks. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will definitely be staying at the Topaz Hotel on any and all of my future trips to D.C.
"Topaz in Washington DC is the perfect small hotel"
The Topaz Hotel in Washington DC is the perfect small hotel. It is located on a quiet, residential street, that is very central. The rooms are large and clean, and the staff are phenomenally helpful - even after you have checked out. As with many small hotels, food is only offered at Breakfast and Dinner, but there are places to go nearby.
"Love this hotel!"
I can't say enough about this hotel! The first impression was the best, we arrived and they offered complimentary wine reception and all the employees were extremely nice. The hotel room itself was beautiful. Very spacious, it almost felt like an apartment room with separate rooms including a vanity room outside the bathroom with plenty of mirrors (which […] is something hotels tend to lack), as well as a separate eating nook off in a corner. The room also had a couch and a large tv. We had a king bed and it felt like sleeping in heaven. I actually ended up missing quite a few sights (including the fireworks on the 4th of July) because I stayed in bed too long. It was also conveniently located, a little off from the main bar strip so it wasn't loud but close enough to be a 2 minute walk. I'd go to a Kimpton hotel every time if I could! Lisez la suite
a little to corporate for us, but good location and tasteful room. Very comfortable beds but questionable art.
"Way too much $$$"
Not a great value....a lot less room than I figured for the price...outrageous parking fees unless you took a chance and parked on the street...

"Form Over Substance"
Pretty rooms, nicely decorated. That's about all. Indifferent staff. Had to lug own bags from the cab into lobby and up several steps to the elevators. No closet in the room - open hanging area, Small bathroom, Empty bar. Overpriced for what you get.
"Great stay"
The hotel is an easy walk to the Dupont Circle metro stop so convenient for sight seeing. The staff was very personable and helpful. The room was a great size, not too small, not too large.
"Topaz in DC"
Nice location, very artsy hotel, with typical amenities of the Kimpton In-Touch frequent stayer program...highly recommended.
