"Hotel Grand Savoia - very luxe"
A beautiful old hotel updated to luxury modern standards in the bedrooms and baths. Very well attended reception area; felt very safe. We took the standard room, which was very luxurious. There is really no good view from either side of the hotel, so the standard room is a good value compared with the upgraded rooms. The neighborhood is not fancy. […] It is dominated by the rail station and the university, both of which occupy old historic buildings. There are many relatively inexpensive restaurants nearby because of the proximity of the university. You can easily walk to the hotel from the rail station, saving the expense of a cab. "Hotell Savoia . Genoa"
Spa was ok.. and nice. Otherwise? Parking very expensive. Good service though. Aircon did not work. One keycard did not work (had to recharge the card 3 times) Breakfast nothing more than ok. Nice looking rooms. We could hear the neighbours think... 10 minutes walk from the harbour. The town Genova is nothing special.
"Beautiful hotel centrally located in Genoa"
We spent 4 nights in this beautifully decorated hotel. Almost all worked well, and we compliment the excellent breakfast and the kind staff in the bar and the restaurant. A few minor things: the announced bathrobes were missing, the roof spa was closed, one of the restaurants were closed for renovation and the younger staff in the reception did not […] speak English. An irritating detail was also the wlan. During our stay a system of password was introduced, and this caused a frequent need for relogging both of the mobile phone and ipad. Very annoying for one of us, who tried to combine business and holiday! However, the total impression of the hotel is very good. And do not miss the adjacent terasse restaurant - superb food and friendly staff!! Lisez la suite
The hotel is clean and comfortable and close to the Genoa Principe rail and metro station. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. We had one evening meal which was ordinary for the price, compared to other meals we had nearby.
"JUST GREAT"
GREAT BY ALL MEANS
"Got a great deal through Hotels.com"
I stayed at this hotel for 3 days last week. Upon checking in late in the evening, I was met with a very nice girl on reception, who checked me in and we had a pleasant short conversation about what I was doing in Genoa and about the history of the city, with relation to the the English flag coming from Genoa. As requested, I was provided with a quiet […] room, although this preference meant I didn't have a view, only out over a back yard area, with the children's play area nearby with a pirate ship (however due to the time of year and cool weather, I didn't see any other guests out there my whole stay). That was fine, as the room was indeed quiet and relaxing for the 3 days, and the soundproofing worked well, both from inside the room and from the external windows, particularly from the external window, as I heard some nearby noise late on Saturday evening - a man or DJ/host saying something over a loudspeaker, with some music playing, and I shut the window - only to completely eliminate the noise! Furnishings were upto a high standard and the bed & pillows were very comfortable. There wasn't a bath in my room, which was a shame, but the shower was good nevertheless. Some small niggles, which do add up to annoyances though, and one unpleasant experience at the end: -On arriving, I went to drink from one of the free complementary bottled 0.5l water drinks provided, only to start unscrewing the lid to find it had already been opened, and that on further inspection, about 3cm of the water had already been drunk: this should have been picked up on by the maid. The curtains wouldn't close properly in the middle, leaving a 10cm gap, so I had to stand on a chair and adjust them for my stay on a fixed hole on the curtain rail, otherwise morning sunlight would have come in the room directly onto my face. It wasn't then possible to open the curtains properly, so hung them on the tassles in the morning. Despite there being tea and coffee facilities, which was good, milk w Lisez la suite
"Old world hotel with all modern conveniences"
A truly beautiful old world hotel with all the modern facilities you would expect. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
"Spectacular Stay!!"
The service and accommodations at this hotel are outstanding! Location to the cruise terminal is perfect, and the staff at the hotel were exceptional. My highest recommendation!!!
"Not as good as it looks"
Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, following all the reviews, the hotel is good until you stumble across the unprofessional staff and service. The laundry services lost my clothes for two days and no one had any clue where they were, have never seen such bad customer service, guess what they somehow found them on the day of departure and also remembered […] to bill me for the laundry as a thank you. The TV in my room was not working and apparently the technicians could not fix it either for three days. Over all a good hotel just doesn’t expect much from the staff or the services you get. "I LOVE THIS HOTEL"
I was really happy to arrive at this hotel. The staff were delightful, went out of their way to help! The room overlooked Piazza de la Verde, and the sun came right in the windows. The pieces of furniture and antiques were beautiful including glass lampshades and decor....it was better than I expected and for a 3* price. The breakfast buffet was […] probably the best I have had. Catered for every taste, with beautiful service. Also to my delight there was a free airport shuttle service for guests. Really how does it get any better than that? You will not be dissappointed, book now! It is by far the best hotel in the area. I know as I moved to another one for part of my stay that was not a match at all.... Would I go back? Oh yes I will stay there again for sure.... Lisez la suite
Don't need to leave too much of a review here, the hotel, complimentary breakfast, staff, and location were all top notch!! We did all our travelling via train, and this hotel is located directly across the street from the station. Would definitely stay here again.
Luxurious room. Outstanding service!!!! We were super impressed with everything from the decor, reception, beautiful public areas, first class rooftop city view and proximity to transit.
"true 5 star experience"
we only stayed at one 5 star hotel travelling around Italy so cannot compare but very satisfied - relatively inexpensive compared to Australian 5 star and every bit as good.
"Grand Hotel Savoia Genoa"
This hotel was a very pleasant surprise considering the price we paid. It was 5 Star at a 3 Star price. The hotel is situated just about 200 metres from the Central Railway station behind the statue of Christopher Columbus. Built in approximately 1896 the hotel has every modern convenience. The rooms are bright and airy and very clean. We were on the […] 6th floor of 7. There are 3 lifts. Breakfast is 17 Euros which is quite expensive but other 5 Star hotels in Italy charge anything up to 40 Euros. There is a lovely cafe just 100 metres from the hotel where we had breakfast for 5 or 6 Euros. There is a very pleasant trattoria attached to the hotel which does traditional Italian dishes at a sensible price. Again the hotel restaurant does dinner but it is quite expensive. The location of the hotel is not great in relation to the centre/shopping area of Genoa but it is definitely walkable. Balbi street is definitely worth exploring next to the hotel and that road takes you into town. Altogether a very pleasant experience and would definitely recommend this hotel. Lisez la suite
"Grand Hotel Savoia"
Friendly staff, Excellent Breakfast, Rooms are a bit on the small side. Lovely Restaurant but the beer is not cold. Good position, but surrounding area is very seedy. You need a car to get out of the city as we did.
"Nice Hotel in the center of Genoa."
Nice Hotel , nice service with one of the best breakfast buffet's we have experienced in Italy.
"Grand Hotel Savoia, Genoa Italy"
This is a very beautiful hotel, located near the trains staion in Genoa. It is in the historic district and close to many restaurants. The hotel is very clean and well appointed. We would recommend it highly.
"Good restoran"
This is probably the best hotel in genova, super brreakfast and dinner, wondeful view from restoran over the city. Everything looked ok, you get what you pay for.
"Nice Hotel"
Nice Hotel, very close to train station, about a 15 min walk to Old Town or the Waterfront. Great view from the rooftop restaurant, also hot tub to enjoy on roof

"the best breakfast in all Europe"
We loved this hotel and it had to best breakfast in all Europe with an egg omelet chef and all. Everything you expect at a 5 star hotel. It is just across from the train station, which we took the next day to Nice. We waited around the city the night we arrived to discover to best Pesto sauce pasta at a restaurant that was still open late at night. […] yummy. Our hotel also provided free shuttle service to the airport so we can drop off our rent a car at the airport and they drove us back to the hotel that was nice. there is a great hot tub on the roof that no one tells you about, but we discovered it and did not have time to use. too bad but a great view of all the city. very nice, safe and clean lovely rooms. My husband and I enjoyed taking a hot bath together in the large lovely bath tub. Very nice bath rooms. They also provided robes and slippers. My family of four loved the two large queen beds and lovely decor. Lisez la suite

"beautiful rooms in the heart of town"
The rooms are beautifully renovated with top of line linens and features. The front desk was most helpful with what to see and do. The breakfast is one of the best I have seen in my travels. I will certainly stay here again on my next trip to Genoa.
"Convenient to the main train station"
This is a very nice hotel for Italy standards. It is directly next to the main train station, and is nice if you are traveling by rail. They have a hot water pot in the room for coffee and tea, which isn't very common in Europe. My only complaint is that they have no clothes irons available - neither in the room nor at the desk. While this is not uncommon […] in Europe, it is unfortunate for those of us who expect it as a standard feature of a hotel room for most of the rest of the world. Lisez la suite

"wonderful hotel"
Me and my husband stayed here for our honeymoon in italian riviera. it was a perfect hotel with a great location right across the street from the train station. My husband LOVED the breakfast buffet there was a great spread. Genoa city itself did not have a lot to do in but it was a great portal to the rest of the riviera. trenitalia was easy to use. "-Grand Hotel Savoia-great"
best hotel we stayed in during our 2 weeks in Italy. Breakfast is included & fantastic buffet
"Grand Hotel Savoia, Genova - excellent position"
The internal appearance and high quality of accommodation and service at the Grand Hotel Savoia are a pleasant surprise, given the modest external appearance of the building, its location next to the neglected central railway station and proximity to the multi-racial and multi-cultural sea port of Genova. Breakfast is good and, although I did not dine […] there, its restaurant was well used by hotel guests and dinner menu appeared to offer reasonable value for money. The rooftop ballroom terrace offers spectacular views over the city centre and waterfront. The hotel is walking distance from the narrow streets of the ancient city centre and the many renaissance palaces, including the former Genovan royal palace and the splendid university building. Buses serving most parts of the city stop outside the hotel. Must-see attractions include the royal palace, the redeveloped waterfront, with ancient its palace of St George (where Europe's first bank was established), the house of Christopher Columbus and a spectacular excursion over the hills to Casella on a narrow-guage railway (34 bus to Piazza Manin).
