"Great Location on the Grand Canal"
Hotel has a great location on the Grand Canal very close to the train station and water bus station. St. Mark's square is a short walk but recommend the water bus for the views. Nice venetian decor. Breakfast was included and was very good for a free breakfast. Wifi worked well. The restaurant overlooks the canal. Our room unfortunately did not overlook […] the canal. We found the staff to be a bit snobby - there were four people standing behind the desk and they had to call someone to get our bags out of the storage room that was literally across the hall while we just waited, which we found odd. After bringing our bags to the room, the bellhop loitered expecting a tip which we have not encountered at any other spot on our European vacation since the tip culture is vastly different here than in the US. Not a very big deal since we were going to tip him anyway, again, just a bit odd. Overall, a decent stay in Venice. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com
"One night stop over, first time visit to Venice"
Location of the hotel is very good, very local to the railway station, the way I arrived, close to the bus station, the way I departed and close to the water transport, water taxi's and gondala station. Check in was painless, lift to the 2nd floor ok, then a walk to find the room allocated, my main dissapointment, end of the corridor, past a final fire […] door to a very small room (No 219) with a different coloured door from the rest, you guessed, the single room which still has to be upgraded, compact with a very small toilet and shower area, the room was clean, with a mini bar if you wanted to use it. but a dissapointing start to my first visit to Venice, should note the booking was for a standard double room, if this was their standard, I suggest booking delux. When I discussed with the reception, they stated this was their best available as they were busy with tour visitors -- the hotel was not that busy!!! -- On the plus side, the facilities within the hotel were good, a well appointed main resteraunt, additional and busy sushi resteraunt which included the general bar area, with good space outsite to sit next to the Grand Canal. Breakfast was within the main resteraunt, with a plentiful and varied menu, with great care and attention given by the staff, check out was easy, however remember they have a tourist tax you need to pay, even if you have pre-paid - so great location, great staff, just the room allocated and its standard let this hotel down Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

At the time of staying (early March) the rooms were too warm, uncomfortably so. Other than that, great service, good breakfast, great location. We ate in the restaurant one night which was also very nice with a view of the Grand CanalAvis véridique Expedia
"Good base of operations"
Pros: Very near the train station and water bus stops, and near the land bus station, so its was easy to get to the airport and Italy's rail network. The dining room overlooks the canal, and there's a lot of boat activity to watch in the morning (bkfst included in our rate). Friendly, patient staff. Both the sleeping room and bathroom of our budget […] room had windows. Public lobby had lots of comfy seating for reading and doing email in. WiFi was included in our rate. Cons: Beds adequate, but not as comfy as, say, Courtyard Marriott or Hampton Inn. Overall, would stay there again. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

Room was clean and large as well as the bathroom which, by the way, was private. Hotel had an elevator and air conditioner. "On the grand canal!"
We came in by cruise ship, took the people mover from the port to plaza roma and then walked to the hotel. Quite a haul but, for 1 euro it was cheap. The hotel held our bag until 2:00pm as the rooms were not ready. Rooms were small and A/C was not very cool yet that’s Europe..Breakfast was good with tables overlooking the Grand Canal. Supermarket down […] the street offered most of what you may need, food, beer and lots of baked goods. Beware of the offer from the Lech at the front desk for a free ride to Moreno, if you don’t buy from the high pressure sales people you will not be offered a ride back to Venice. "Great Hotel"
This was my second time staying there and I would stay there again. Location was close enough to the train station, and still had all the aspects of Venice. Ask for a room with a balcony overlooking the Grand Canal. Postcard views!Avis véridique Hotels.com
The room was charming. The breakfast was delicious and the setting had great ambiance. The hotel is on the Grand Canal and is perfectly and easily located. My only recommendation is to reupholster your lobby furniture.Avis véridique Hotels.com
"Found a gem in Venice."
I booked Hotel Principe because of its location close to the train station which we needed for our departure from Venice. It also had a landing jetty for water taxis which we wanted for our arrival by air. The rear of the hotel is on the Grand Canal, and the frontage is on the busy Lista di Spagna. I have had bad experiences of Venetian hotels and was […] fearful of the standard or exact location of Hotel Principe. I needed have worried. From the moment of our arrival to our departure everything was fine. We particularly enjoyed our last afternoons and sometimes evening spent on the hotel terrace overlooking the Grand Canal with some excellent live music provided. "Great Place-Very Convenient"
This was great place to stay if you have limited time in Venice. If you take the bus from the airport (or the train), you will only have a 5 min walk to the hotel. Be aware, that bus dropoff is on the other side of some steps to cross over a canal which may be a challenge with luggage. (From the train station, there are no steps.) They offered an upgrade […] at checkin which we declined and found our room facing the shops had a quite an interesting view. The only concern was the temperature was a little "sticky" and there wasn't AC. I asked for late checkout and that wasn't a problem. The breakfast was great and I'd gladly return there on my next visit! Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com
"The perfect view"
We had a very romantic dinner at the hotel and it was wonderful. They also have a great breakfast buffet. The hotel is a short distance from the train station and water bus stand. They will also take you by water taxi over to Murano Island, if you purchase art glass they will bring you back to Venice free of charge.Avis véridique Hotels.com

I can not believe this hotel has four stars. The room is very poor and small. It seemed to be overcharge. Particularly, staffs in the front desk expressed terrible attitude, they were really impolite to customers from non-European countries. I can NOT recommend this hotel as a good choice for staying in beautiful Venice during your holidays.Avis véridique Expedia
"Hotel Principe, Venice, Italy"
The room which we were allocated only had one power point in the whole room which was located in the toilet, making it highly inconvenient for travellers who need to recharge batteries for their phones and cameras while on holidays. Also the air conditioning did not work at all while we were there even though everything was supposedly turned on. Does […] it really deserve its four star rating? "Smelly bathroom"
This is in Venice, Italy so there are not any NEW hotels, you must realize it is an old city and the rooms will not be modern, although they would not let us turn the air conditioning on even it when it was up to 80 degrees. The Italian gov't would not let anyone turn on A/C until May 1st. The only downside about the room was the smell coming from the […] bathroom. The sewer smell was overwhelming, we had to open the windows. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia
"Great location, a little pricey"
Great location close to the train station and mono rail to the crusie ship area for those leaving Venice on a cruise. Less than 10 mn walk from the Aquabus stop that takes you to/from the airport. Lots of restaraunts in the area and excellent food. Includes a buffet hot/cold breakfast with a decent selection. Free hotel water service to St. Marks (not […] used) but would save $$$$. Easy walk with one large bridge to cross with luggage to get to the monorail for a 1 euro per person ride to the cruise ship terminal vs. 70 euro water taxi. Room size average, but very clean, friendly staff. 15-20 min easy walk to Rialto Bridge. Great locate for those arriving in Venice by train. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia

"The Hotel Principe - very convenient"
Good price (and got it the day before I checked in). This hotel is in a great location. It's right down the street from the train station (so you don't have to take a boat when you arrive or leave) and it's right on the main canal (don't expect a view). There's tons of shops and restaurants all over. Air conditioning was not too powerful (but that's […] all over Italy!). Breakfast was good! Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

"hotel principe, venezia"
the hotel principe in venice. italy was a great location for us 2 minutes from the train station as well as minutes to local resturaunts.when arriving at the hotel we checked our room first and were not happy with the accomidations we arranged through hotels.com however after the staff worked with us and two rooms later we were very happy with our stay […] the staff i must say did what they could to accomidate us. the morning breakfast was sufficient to start your day. positioned right on the waterfront it made for a romantic stay for me and my wife. it was actually the highlite of our stay in italy as once we left venice, attitudes and rudeness set in with the rest of our trip in italy. I will never go back to italy but if i do i will go to venice and stay at the Hotel Principe Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com
"Convenient but lacking"
A four star price, with very little four style amenities. Beds are nowhere near what you would expect from a hotel this day and age. Separate twin beds that are smaller than any twin bed I have seen. Quiet rooms and air conditioning was nice. Clean, but small rooms. Overall, I would not recommend if you are used to four star in other parts of the world. […] I paid less than I expected a night per room. I thought it was a steal knowing I was going to be in a 4 star in Venice. My expectations were not met. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

"Overpriced"
I decided to go to Venice at the last minute and this was the only hotel room available in Venice proper via Expedia. I hesitated at the price, but as I had never been to Venice before, and really wanted to stay there. I'm glad I did it for the experience, but really, the hotel is quite overpriced for what you get. It has not been updated in quite […] a while - carpets are worn, needs new paint/wallpaper/fixtures. The shower was smaller than a phone booth - really a joke. The hotel is quite old fashioned and seems to be running on former glory. The staff was nice enough and I actually had a pleasant meal in the hotel restaurant. There is quite a nice terrace overlooking the Grand Canal and the food was quite good. Overall, if this is your only option, well, ok, I guess take it. But I think you can do better. "Hotel Principe - Venice, IT. December 2010"
Pro: The hotel is conveniently located very close to the station. The lobby is clean and bright. Con:The rude brute at the front desk was an immediate turn-off. Shower is a 2’x2’ stall. The "mattress" was 6" of firm foam, and the pillow was flat! Not what I would expect from a 4-star hotel. The breakfast team was equally unfriendly. Not so much as a […] nod to acknowledge that you are waiting to be seated so we seated ourselves, although a good morning would have been nice. Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com

"Rude staff, otherwise ok, not amazing!"
I suppose you get what you pay for, as this was a fairly cheap hotel compared to the others. Water taxi to the airport was 100 euros; VERY over-priced, but I didn't have anyone to help with my suitcase, so the train or bus was out of the question. Decor tired, and some of the staff incredibly rude and patronizing... like I was bothering them asking […] about the taxi, etc Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Hotels.com
"Perfect experience!"
I booked this hotel same day on route to Venice and was pleasantly surprised at check in. Front desk staff stopped what they were doing and focused on my check in, answered questions and promptly took me up to my room. The air conditioning was already running in the room which was small, clean, and fresh...absolutely perfect for my one night stay in […] Venice! The two windows faced east and opened onto a courtyard with a peek of the Grand Canal. I was able to launder some essential items of clothing and hang them on the shutters...they were completely dry when I collected them after breakfast (which was spectacular and included btw). They have a beautiful outdoor patio right on the Canal 8-] I would highly recommend this hotel for a quick visit to Venice. Though I was only there for one night, I would have been perfectly happy to stay longer! Nothing like walking into a cool, clean room at the end of a long day of travel! "Lovely Hotel, Fab location"
This is a really lovely hotel, right on the Grand canal, a great central location. Great views from the hotel itself, nice if you can get one of the window tables for breakfast, which was a really good buffet, good variety that you could really fill up on! Or in the evening to sit out on the veranda, one of the more spacious ones on the canal. Staff […] were very attentive and were very helpful when our aircon was playing up. There is easy access from the airport; simply get on the bus outside the airport to 'Venice-Piazalle Roma' its about 20mins drive, about 3euro, the hotel is a short walk away (although over a couple of bridges). I would really recommend this hotel and would go back tomorrow!!! Lisez la suiteAvis véridique Expedia
