The Majestic Hotel - Harrogate

Cette Ancienne demeure est située dans un grand parc privé, à deux pas du centre ville, petits déjeunés exelents, hotel calme, où ont séjournés la Reine, le Prince Charles, Tony Blair ... Le Charme à L'anglaise

It's a beautiful hotel, tasty breakfast. However, if you need help with bags, be prepared to wait awhile.

got a special deal for my 40th birthday, because of this, the hotel upgraded my room and myself and my girlfriends had a lovely time. The hotel was central to bars, clubs and shops and the breakfast had absolutely anything you could want!

Beautiful hotel could`nt fault it at all .... the let down was having to pay car-park charges after paying for a nights stay.

Our room was on the top floor and although clean and spacious was a little tired. The windows were old and let in a lot of outside noise, and i imagine in the winter the cold too. The bathroom was clean but again a little tired. We didn't use the leisure facilities but visited the turkish baths, which are a 3 minute walk down the road instead. Parking […] on site was very reasonable - £3.50 for about 24hrs. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice and it all tasted fresh. I would recommend this hotel if you want somewhere cheap to stay but if you are looking for a romantic weekend or something a bit special its not for you. Lisez la suite

This Hotel is the Best in harrogate we have been staying for the past fifthteen years(at least 3 to 4 times a year) and love it, and its so easy to walk into town, The staff are always helpful and its lovely that they remember us from one vist to the next,

The hotel is in an excellent position, within walking distance of town centre. Car park was spacious and a good price with resident's discount. Hotel had lovely decor in public areas even though it is an old building. We had problems with the first room allocated, a drains smell. Reception staff moved us without question. The second room was meant to […] be a double but had a small bed which would have struggled to accommodate two people so back to reception again. We were given a free upgrade. The breakfast was excellent. Good choice, efficient service, everything topped up. The one gripe we had was lack of free wi-fi in hotel rooms. It was free in public areas but didn't work! Beautiful room, fantastic service and a fine pool The only criticism was the fixed price menu. I didnt want a 3 course meal.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Majestic. After staying in rather stale hotels in Harrogate on numerous business trips for the last 15 years, including the Majestic a few years ago, it was refreshing to stay in a hotel that has had a successful face lift. Bed linen was of a superior standard with quality furnishings. A very comfortable nights stay. The public areas were of a good standard, although I feel they hadn't quite cracked a 'boutique' style atmosphere which was being attempted with candles and chill out music in the bar area - but still very relaxing. This hotel is in an excellent location, it's quiet, immaculate & the staff were very helpful & friendly. I could talk with my client in the lounge in peace, & then after the long day a swim in the pool was lovely. The food was good & the bedroom was very comfortable.

Big & beautiful hotel. We have stayed here before and would again. Easy access to town.Good room. Good choice for breakfast.

There isnt a lot wrong with this hotel. Majestic by name and Majestic by nature. A great hotel in a great location being close to the town centre. The room was fantastic. Very clean, not crowded and the bathroom was huge. The whole room was very well decorated and there was nothing to fault here. If i did want to pick a fault with anything in the room […] the mattress was too soft for me but that is purely my own personal taste. Also the water in the kettle became tainted with a metallic taste if left overnight or standing for a period of time. These were very minor issues though. The rest of the hotel was good. The dining area could do with a little updating as it looked tired. The breakfast was excellent and had a wide range of foods for everyone and every taste. The staff were friendly, courteous and only too pleased to help. There was always someone around to ask. The only disappointment for me was the gym and pool area. As i like the gym and pool this was somewhat disappointing. Both were too small. Apart from that we had a wonderful stay and would definately stay there again. We would also recommend to friends. Impressive hotel very near the amenities of Harrogate - couldnt be in a better location! Looks like recently undergone some restoration and all though a little more work needed in some areas the hotel is really smart in most of the bar and public areas. The grounds are lovely too and being a sunny day we enjoyed a pleasant morning on the terrace reading […] the papers in the sunshine. Two downsides with the hotel in my opinion. The breakfast wasnt that great and the plates and serving spoons were red hot - too hot to touch. My big issue was the initial room we got put in. We had paid for a double room however the hotel was busy (saturday night in August and they were fully booked with a wedding) so they tried to put us in a three quarter bed room not a double (tiny). After considerable arguing we did get moved to a twin but it was a shame that it took a lot of effort to get sorted. Good overall. Lisez la suite

Enjoyed our stay. Pleasant well -equipped spacious room. Excellent breakfast. Leisure centre only disappointment- sauna too hot, registering well over 100 degrees,jacuzzi taken out of action.

Our first room not up to scratch, but transferred to room in the re-furbished part of hotel. Everything fine from then on.

After reading the reviews on this hotel I must admit I was slightly worried. However, on arrival we were met with friendly efficient staff and were given the most beautiful room. Gorgeous hotel stairs sweep you up to your room. Enormouse dining room and superb breakfast. Rooms are OK but a bit past their sell by date. The toilet flush had the disconcerting habit of making a noise like the big end going off in a car five minutes after you flushed! The other annoyance was the smoke alram which was directly above the bed head and […] flashed every minute or so! This is a hotel that really reminds you of the days of Victorian opulance and although a little shabby in parts, still reains its victorain charm. The breakfast was great and the room altho not yet refurbished was clean and comfortable. The staff at the reception were helpful and friendly, and the waiters and waitresses polite. The staff were lovely and the room was very nice. The bed was large and there was lots of space in the room/bathroom. There was internet in all rooms at a charge plus a free wireless in the lobby, which was very useful. The hotel is in a great location just a few minutes walk from the centre, which was perfect. The only downside was that due to refurbishment […] the pool etc are not avaliable at the hotel, which was not advertised. You do have access to leisure facilities in a hotel across the road if you want, but this is not really that convienient. Therefore don't book at the moment if you are booking for the leisure facilities or you will be disappointed. Other than that I can't fault it at all and would use it for sure again. Lisez la suite

nice hotel friendly staff, breakfast very good but the kingsize bed (not double as stated ) was wonderful. the very best ive had in a hotel. parking a pain as it has to be paid for but we parked at the back of the hotel and did not have to pay.

At check in two of our travel party were informed that the rooms were not ready -this was at 3.30pm ! Check in was 12pm but we were informed that their leisure break customers couyld book out at 2pm -I wasn't really interested as I had already tried to check in at 12 so surely a room could have been prioritised knowing that I was already in the hotel […] .After 15 minutes we were given our key card by a Manager with no apology whatsoever -unbelievable ! The hotel really needs a refurbishment -the lifts are very small and smell musty . Lisez la suite

Our four night stay was excellent untill our last night when there was a wedding reception in a function room directly below our bedroom. The noise from the disco was horrendous and went on till the early hours of the morning. The hotel was very grand when it was built in the 1900 but it is in need of upgrade it was very expensive for food and drink and the evening dinner was appaling and not value for money I would sooner have a take away! The staff were nice but if you book on line they still expect you to pay them as they took three days to agree we had already paid on […] line and I felt this was not satisfactory in this day and age of the computer and the way we live now a days. The hotel needs to be refurbished or less on the cost of staying. The Majestic is in need of a refurb, the main areas all looked very tired and old granduar. Our bedroom had been refurbished but was not as clean as it could be, cobwebs and dust around, especially in the bathroom. Room service came in each day but just seemed to straighten the sheets, empty the bin and go!

this hotel is beautiful - room super and breakfast ok but the staff seems very rude and snappy - not to me personally but to others i saw speaking to them.

Hotel is as its title perceives, Majestic. Although a little tired in some areas, in know way off putting. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Room was, large and old in style with modern touches, welcoming and comfortable. Food and service were to a good standard.

The Majestic is extremely convenient for the Harrogate conference centre. My room was large, clean and confortable. Breakfast was good. However it is no longer majestic and could benefit from a makeover to bring it back ito the 20th century.

Never been to Harrogate before, but were totally satisfied with the hotel. It is centrally located and has an olde worldly feel about it. We upgraded our room to superior and we were well impressed. The staff were helpful, meals were a good standard and the service was of a high quality. Harrogate itself is a lovely town with many excellent restuarants […] and plenty to see and do. Overall the Barcelo was an excellent choice and I would have no recomendation in recommending it for a comfortable location. Lisez la suite
