"Good value as usual"
We stay at the Clarion three or four times a year. My wife started going there in the late Seventies. Old but well-kept. Staff friendly and competent. Food good and inexpensive. Rooms spotless and there is a choice of pillow types. Never a problem.
"Dog friendly, somewhat down at the heels"
This is a really nice property that has obviously been through some hard times. We choose it because our daughter attends college nearby and we can visit with our dogs. Plenty of area to walk them in and no ridiculously high fees to have them - in fact the rate overall was reasonable even with the dog fee added. The indoor pool is nice, restaurant is […] great for breakfast, people are generally pleasant and accommodating. Nice touches like fireplaces, pleasant plantings around the property. But there is a mysterious semi-abandoned feel to the place, with a whole pool complex out back that is obviously unused, cracked pavement, etc. Foreclosure some time ago that they are climbing out of? Anyway - I recommend it for convenience, nice pool and pet friendliness, though I wouldn't choose it as a resort getaway. Lisez la suite

"The Clarion; a good old place"
We have been staying at The Clarion since the late Seventies. It is clean and well maintained. The restaurant is open under new management and the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The place was very busy the night we stayed, but when I called with a television problem, the engineer appeared within five minutes and fixed it. They have multiple […] copies of the local newspaper in the lobby for guests to take. The place is a very good value for the price and they give a 15% coupon for the reastaurant. Lisez la suite
"Clarion is a winner"
We arrived and were greeted by friendly front desk staff. Our room was big and comfortable with a pool view. The hotel was only two minutes from downtown Northampton and offered complimentary copies of both the local and national newspapers. Visited for business travel and was satisfied. Right off the highway, clean room, wireless worked well enough. You could do much worse.

"Good Location"
Good enough for a couple of nights. Smelt musty in lobby and hallways. Little dated. Afternoon and evening staff helpful with directions and suggestions for thing to do. Morning staff not educated on there area.

"The Hotel in Northampton MA"
The staff was not very friendly. We could not get food in the bar until 5pm. Instead of politely telling us that, they ignored us. We finally had to approach the bar and ask. If we did not go to the bar, we would still be sitting at a table waiting for the staff to stop talking to each other and wait on our table.

"Needs work"
the musty smell remains. And, the choice of "down pillows" v "down alternative" fails when they are piled on each other all day. The "down alternative" still activated down allergies! Finally, this is an extremely expensive low level hotel. I understand supply & demand, but.....

"Dank and Smelly"
If you want an older motel room that smells like a basement - then this is your place. Really awful. So damp and mildewy and mold. YUCK!
"Need an upgrade"
I was very pleased with the staff but this seemed to be a party hotel and the night staff or secuirty could not gain control of all the noise and partying. We had to call the front desk twice and we still were up until 4am. The room had a very funny small almost like mold and although it seemed clean it is out dated and run down. Everything was fine. We didn't realize you let dogs come - next time! There is an area near the lobby where smoking is allowed and it really travels! Or the air gets caught there. Staff were nice and helpful. Bed was soft for us. Nice dining room for breakfast, tho we were surprised to be charged. Most places in the area provide it gratis.

"Clrion: Not fit for a King"
Booked a king-size bed thru Hotels.com like normal. Check in was quick and easy. When we got to our room we noticed that we had to full beds. The guest sercvie agent was polite but could not help us out because I forgot the reservation at home, nor did I have the Hotels.com phone #. My wife and I understood that if we had no proof that we booked a King […] why should we get one. When I got home I check the rez. I made with Hotels.com and it did say I booked a king-size bed. I called hotels.com and they advised me to call the hotel. I called the hotel and they said that when UI checked in all the Kings were taking. Why they did not tell me that when I asked them in first place I do not know. I have been playing phone tag with the Hotel manager but have yet to talk to her to see if they can help me out. As of this time I have stilled payed for a King size bed and got to full sizes....by the way did I tell you that my wife was 6 months along when we stayed there????? Lisez la suite
"great room for the money"
Hotel has a series of confusing corridors in dark panel decor ,but follow the signs to find an average room.Noisy late night check in guests showed no consideration for others .Restaurant-"Montana Steak House" served a very limited burgers wings and pizza menu ,definately not a steakhouse menu.Continental breakfast not included in price ,cooked omeletts […] and eggs available for extra charge Pool area looked inviting ,pity I didn't pack a swimsuit . "Why don't they make up the rooms?"
I've stayed at this hotel once year for three years in a row. The beds are very comfy, the atmosphere pleasant. The front desk staff are very nice. However, this year, they flunked in having the room made up. Twice we were out all day and came back to find the beds not made up and the room not straightened up. We had to ask for this service, and when […] it was done, it was then done sloppily. "Shower only bath"
The drain in the bathtub was broken. I called for a drain plug, but still could not take a bath because the plumbing was permenantly changed so that only the shower was functional. A real disappointment. Coffe pot had not been washed, still had coffee ginds and brown water in it. Service was friendly. Pizza in hotel restaurant was good.
