"Nayland Hotel - Guest House"

"Good location"
Hotel was very clear and not dated. The only fault I would have is the windows are in need of attenion due to allowing cold drafts in as when the noice of the trafic from out side.
"Convenient Location"
We thought the hotel and staff were very good. The location was perfect for our needs. We would stay again.
"very convenient for transport and sightseeing"
I was happy with the room although , as a single , it was small and I feel that Travelodge or Premier Inn might be better for a single traveller
"The Nayland Hotel in London"
Good hotel for the price and location. (2 blocks from Padington Station) TV was old and not working. Room was tiny. But we didnt go to London to watch TV so it wasn't that bad. The hotel served its purpose for our needs. I would book it again, if nothing else was available within the same price range.
"bloody pillow"
We were rather irritated that the room interior, furnishings and bedding had not been updated since possibly the 1960s, but when I turned back the bedspread I found the deal-breaker. Visible through the thin pillow case was about a 3" diameter blood stain on the pillow. We left and checked into another hotel.
"Average hotel"
Clean and tidy hotel, although a little cramped. Could have done with tea making facilities in the room. We didn't bother with breakfast as it was only continental.
"Great Stay"
We have stayed at this hotel for one night. There were three of us, so I guess the rooms available were limited as we ended up in the basement with the only window looking out at the indoor stairwell. The room comfort was decent, but the room was a rather small compared to other hotels in London that we have stayed in previously. The staff was very […] nice and helpful, but it would help if they knew a bit more about the surrounding areas. We wanted WiFi, and we were directed to McDonalds, which does have free Wifi, but there were many other better options (Sussex Arms Pub for one). We had to leave very early, so we did not get a chance to experience the breakfast as it didn't start until 7am, and they were not able to give us anything prior to that. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and we would stay here again for a short trip. Lisez la suite
"Nayland Hotel i London"
General bad impression. Got myself moving bags before check-in when the hotel staff was completely unjustified. Sets to a question the staff seemed most troubled. Breakfast was also unfortunately very poor. First and last time I stay at this hotel.
"Nayland Hotel London - Paddington and Hyde Park"
I chose this hotel due to very close proximity to Lancaster Gate and Paddington station (Heathrow Express). In this sense the hotel fulfilled my expectations, everything essential was within 5 min walk from the hotel. Breakfast was non-existent and coffee was bad even by British standards. I chose not to go to the breakfast after first morning. Rooms […] were very small but quite new, clean and had even one European electric plug (in addition to the razor one in bathroom). Only minus was the windows, that did not insulate neither from cold weather nor from street noise - I had to get ear plugs. Wifi was expensive, provided unstable service and did not function in all my devices. Lisez la suite
"Affordable, convenient, functional"
To use the cliché of the moment, "it is what it is." No one should come here expecting five-star amenities, but then this is about as affordable as you can get for an ultra-convenient London location.
"Nayland Hotel Reservation"
When we made the reservation, we were told we will get a room with two double and one single beds. We did not. We got two double beds. It was awkward for a 70-year old man and three young women, two of whom are married and the other one engaged, to share such a room. Hotel attendants and managers were nice people but could not do anything about it. […] Two people had to sleep on the floor. The breakfast was nice. Lisez la suite
"No bang for my buck"
Yes the hotel is located next to Hyde park and the Lancaster gate tube station, wich made travel really easy. the hotel is very small. the rooms are barely large enough to fit your luggage through and if your planning on sleeping in from a long night at the local pub, dont plan on it because the walls are paper thin. When we called the receptionist […] at 3am for a noise complaint (she) didnt really seem to care. at the most ill give this hotel 2 stars only for its location. Lisez la suite
Hotel room was quite small for two people. I wouldn't go back to this hotel unless was by myself. Elevator didn't work so luggage had to be hauled up by hand to third floor. Staff quite helpful and polite. Hotel was close to Paddington and necessary facilities.
"Nice hotel, easy to find!"
No problems, just a good place to sleep for the night!
"Disappointed"
My room faced a busy street which wouldn't normally be a problem but the window was single glazed and draughty and the top of the bed was beside the window. This made for an uncomfortable and noisy night.
Quite pleasant hotel for the price and location. Clean room but no coffee/tea making facilities. Very disappointing breakfast. Fruit juice was orange squash! Cereal was okay but everything else seemed to be cheap, tasteless ingredients-how much would a decent Tetley teabag cost? If you don't like a spread of plastic cheese, ham and hardboiled eggs, […] prepare to be disappointed. Lisez la suite
"Brief stay in Central London"
Was fine, had a family room with our grandson. Will be even better when they finish installing the new lift.
"elevator still out"
Quaint hotel close to Paddington, Hyde Park and a lot good restaurants. Price is right especially for London but be prepared to hoof it up 4 flights of stairs with your luggage. Judging from other reviews on this site, apparently if you book on Hotels.com you will get the fourth floor and while they had begun to work on the lift while we were there […] make sure you're in reasonably good shape. Rooms were small but clean. Would stay there again but might be worth checking on the status of the lift before you book if you;re not doing carry-on luggage! Lisez la suite
"A step up from a hostel"
It's not a hotel, it's a guest house. Really, it's a step up from a hostel. And a step down from a hotel. Not a place I'd stay again. But it is inexpensive and very close to Paddington Station.
"Good"
Lift was not working, overall it was ok, no other issues.
"Nayland Hotel Paddington"
I was booked into the Nayland Hotel for a few nights - the room was located on the top floor and the elevator did not work. Internet was 10 pounds for 24 hours. Construction work commenced at 9AM in the elevator shaft next door to the room. Staff were generally not helpful in directing to nearest facilities such as washing, cash machines etc.
"Nayland Hotel in Paddington, London"
One of a whole line of hotels on the Sussex gardens road probably all with a similar spec. The lift was broken - I had a room on the 4th floor so had to lug my suitcase 4 flights of very steep narrow stairs. And down again the following morning. No-one able to help they said so I had a cramped back and neck for my 11 hour flight. I would not stay here […] again. Lisez la suite
"Short stay in a tiny room"
The hotel was okay, however the lift was broken and thus we had to use the not very spacious stairs. The room was extremely tiny and so was the bed. Only suitable for couples who love each other very much or as a single but certain not for stays with brother/sister...

"Par for the Area"
If you are looking for something convenient near Paddington Station, this is perfect. Fellow Americans - brace yourself for the size of the rooms. As a frequent international traveler, the room size, services, etc were in line with what I would expect. We were only there during a long layover. If you are staying longer, look for something closer to […] tourist areas, but expect a premium. Lisez la suite
"Comfortable staying."
Hotel is situated close to trains, underground and buses. Ensuite facilities were good and clean, we had everything we needed. Breakfast was continental; tasty and rich enough, coffee was hot!!
"Nayland hotel guest house LONDON"
very good stay service very good location excelent nice breakfast would stay again
"excellent stay"
Location was excellent...staff extremely helpful..room and bathroom small but very clean and comfortable..just outside congestion zone and some off main road parking included in price so great if you ou want to bring your car in.
"Not 4* but OK"
Relatively basic and clean. Hotels.com describes it as 4* but it really isn't. Most other describe it as 3*. Good value for London but breakfast was very poor, the orange juice is actually cheap orange squash. But again the overall price is low, so you get what you pay for. Convenient location, only a few minutes from Paddington
"nayland hotel london"
great location from paddington station, staff very helpfull, clean rooms, good price for a one night stop over. would stay again.
"Nayland Hotel - insufficient prior information"
Receptionist was very friendly and helpful The lift was closed for refurbuishment - my room was on 4th floor, I had to carry my baggage up and down 4 flights of stairs, fortunately although this was a hassle, I am ablebodied, but it would have been too bad had I not been as there was no prior notification of this matter. There were no tea/coffee making […] facilities in the room - would have expected this in a 4* guest house. They are advertised by Hotels.com as 4* but they told me they were only 3* Location is very good, short walk to Paddington tube station, and plenty of restraunts nearby. Lisez la suite
"OK, but not more."
Plus: Friendly staff, close to train station. Minus: Bedsheets where not clean, heater kept making loud noise during the night. Not much of a breakfast.
"Excellent value for short stay"
Good location, close to Paddington. Clean rooms, while not the biggest you can find, do not feel too small either. Breakfast decent if you have simple taste.
"Building Work being carried out next to room!"
The hotel was basic but clean so fine to use as a base for sightseeing in London. The lift was out of order when we stayed, which meant having to climb down very steep stairs immediately behing a door whilst carrying cases to reach our room - not at all safe! Workmen came to fix the lift which was adjacent to our room - we were woken by the sounds of […] power tools being used before 9am! The workmen were in disbelief that the room next door was still in use with this type of work going on! Additionally, the website description is misleading - there are no tea or coffee facilities (we expected a kettle in the room), only the option to buy drinks at the bar. I asked the receptionist about this, who offered no apology for being misleading. Also, there as no Sky TV - the only channel we received was the channel to instruct how to use Sky. The digital, terrestrial channels were barely watchable as the picture quality was poor. Lisez la suite
"Around plenty of Hotels"
Hotel was OK, but not wonderful. I had a basement room and wondered why I kept hearing trucks go by. I suspect that this was underground trains! as it stopped after midnight and restarted about 5-6am

"Great location, good clean wel eqquiped room"
Everything was satisfying except my initial check-in. The person at the desk was an emotional cypher with trouble focusin. I had to repeat anfd clarify everything, even what he should have been able to read in front of him. The other down side is an outrageous charge for internet use, so I used a nearby internet cafe' . Otherwise, all was OK. I like […] to have inexpensive but clean accomodation that is handy to Paddington - a nearby tube styop and easy travel back and forth to Heathrow. Lisez la suite
"Nayland Hotel, London"
I did not expect a 5 star hotel. However this place is bragging when it rates a 3 star. The front desk (the men not the women) have no customer service skills. They act like bored, flippant teenagers. The bathrooms have hand towels and bath towels. Washcloths were not provided. Our bathroom did not have a working fan. This is a big annoyance. These […] hotel rooms are very, very small and bathroom fan would keep the place from smelling like... a bathroom. The t.v. remote did not work. Breakfast was: toast, cereal, cheese, ham, coffee, tea, and orange colored sugar water. There are several other hotels near paddington st. and next time I will spend my money elsewhere. Bathroom is very tiny and awful, terribly messy!
Clean and friendly and very close to the City.
