Don't believe the terrible reviews. This place is just fine for the price. If you just need a place to crash for a few nights, it's more than adequate. If you're expecting the Ritz, expect to pay more elsewhere.

This was our second stay and we were looking forward to it... Shocked to say the least: Conditions The bed was all springs with a blanket worth of padding. Really the worst hotel/motel bed ever. The Bathroom, large, stunk up the entire room with a mold smell so we had to keep it closed for most of the stay. The shower was upstairs and usually pressure […] would be kinda low, but somehow, they managed to have the pressure of a fire hose, which cannot be lowered so is very painful. Each stream of water out of the shower head had an extremely high pressure like a water jet cutting tool. The gas heater in the room was broken, they had another portable heater in the room, and that fell apart in my hands. Oh.. the paint was peeling all through the bathroom, and had large mold stains. The tile floors in the bathrooms also needed a steam cleaning- tacky and darkened with grime, probably adding to the smell. Money Stuff To check in, they force a "tax" of $2/day that they had to charge on sight, and apparently wasn't included in the taxes and price paid from hotels.com. Aren't we here (using hotels.com) to have it all pre-paid? (minus incidentals & room-service) Overall A big disappointment from our last stay there a few years ago. My boyfriend and I took a trip to Santa Cruz and with the hotels.com app on my iphone, I was able to book the room just the day before we left, and it was great. WE got to the inn, checked in early and wanted to check out the room. Bed was a bit stiff compared to what I usually sleep on, but I slept for 8 hours when I usually sleep for 5 or 6. The walls […] were a bit too thin... Yeah, it was kinda awkward being able to hear your next door neighbors. Luckily, the tv went pretty loud!! Besides that, there was pretty good parking, staff was friendly, and not overly-friendly to the point where it came off as fake(that's somewhat annoying). We stayed at The Knights Inn while on a road trip last week. When we checked in the staff was extremely friendly and very helpful! Gave us great recommendations for dinner and a beer and walking directions. The room was clean and everything worked. Not very impressed, but for the price it was a good value. Very friendly service, close to the boardwalk

staff was very friendly,room was pretty clean but noticed maybe wood shavings in cupboards of bedroom so it's probably never dusted in there and the smell of the room was that of..i'm not really sure, but wished I had brought along some feebreeze or something...So it was all just ok...Probably won't book there again though.

ants in room, no clothes racks, 2 out of the three table lights in the room were broken. staff were very nice but they originally sent me to a dirty room when i checked in. probably would not stay there again. like they say, you get what u pay for.

convenience location - pretty basic - nothing fancy, the bathroom light doesn't work. Everytime we turn it on it was so noisy that we couldn't stand it so we just took showers in the dark - luckily we got our plug-in flashlight. The place was clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy but the reception personnel were super nice and friendly. Small breakfast/snacks provided in the morning.

The hotel was in a very bad area, but it was walking distance from the Boardwalk so that was a plus. but the service wasn't very good and the rooms don't come with soap and shampoo and conditioner... you have to bring your own if u want to get clean. Nice staff, good location, simple accommodation right for the money.

Motel was nice for the price, you really can go wrong it was close to the beach close to UCSC campus plus it was a couple of minutes from downtown. If all you need is a bed to sleep at knight this is it, I only wish they had bigger towel to shower but overall the place was really good.

if you want to walk to the boardwalk, have affordability and also convenient access to Henry Cowell Park, this is clean -- nice beds, good shower. Neighborhood leaves a bit to be desired, however.

Great people. Room was ok, and very clean. Heat worked VERY well. Water pressure was GREAT for the shower. This is an OLDER facility, but if you're looking for a great deal for the money, this is it. Very conveniently located. Particularly if you want to go to the boardwalk, which is walking distance away.

Clean with a friendly and helpful staff. Definitely an older facility, but everything worked just fine. Great deal if you plan to spend the majority of your time enjoying the beach Boardwalk just a short walk away.

Upgraded older motel, way better than it was.

I found the hotel to be very reasonably priced, nicely maintained with a very spacious room. My only real comment would be that their internet connection seemed rather slow and it was difficult to due some online activities. "You should have stayed in a 5star hotel"-Front Desk/Manager Chet We arrived on a cold rainy night were told there was heat in the room, when we go to said room and tried to turn on the heat there was nothing after 10 mins I called the front desk and was told to use the space heater and the room would heat up in about 20 mins. We turned off the tv and […] left to let the room heat up came back to no power in half the room and it was still cold. it couldn't be fixed we just had to move the heater to another side of the room but even with the "heater" on all night our room was still less than 50 degrees. Chet brought up an extra blanket that had stains and hairs all over it needless to say I didn't use it. The next day we were called at about 10am to see if we wanted to change rooms, we did. We were asked to check out at 11 and we could check back in at 12. When we get to the front desk the girl had no idea what we were talking about and wanted to hear the whole story and then told us we couldn't check back in until after 1. We get back and she still has no clue why we need a new room so I have to re-explain myself. We get our new room which was bigger and nicer the heater worked but we found glass on the floor and when we brought our leftover dinner back realized there was no fridge...great. At check out Chet offered me a 20% off discount on my next stay (as if I would stay again) But the kicker was when I called later because hotels.com said they couldn't give me a refund for the night in the icebox. Chet told me that since I have such high standards maybe I should have stayed at a 5 star hotel! Hmmm high standards because I want heat?? I guess. I have stayed at plenty of cheap hotels and have had he basic amenities promised in the description of the room. Also a passer by said we should be careful of bedbugs! Though a little on the shabby side, the hotel was comfortable and affordable. It is close to amusements and entertainment as well as having a Trader Joe's nearby. It took a little time to learn how to get to the location, but once you understood the one way streets of Santa Cruz, it was easy and accessible to the Downtown area, UC Santa Cruz and the […] beaches. The hotel has a nice location near the boardwalk, but the room was just ok: not much to look at, no bathtub and very hard beds. A good deal in off season, but I'm not sure I'd bother to stay there in the summer.

Great hotel for the price! The staff is very friendly and the location is great for hanging out in Santa Cruz. Parking is very limited and the street parking is all residentially controlled. This is an older motel; however, my room was absolutely spotless, the bed was comfortable, and there was no noise heard from inside the room even though the motel was full for the night. A rare (for me) enjoyable motel stay in an unfamiliar city.

I found this Motel to be a very expensive Motel. I have stayed at other Knights Inn's and this by far was the worst. Parking was the worst. I could understand the condition of the Motel and what it is that they have to offer, but I could not understand the HIGH price for the rooms. I'm sure they could do better. The staff were kind and thoughtful. The room was very clean. The a/c wasn't working, but wasn't needed either. The breakfast is quite limited and there is no protein. It is very conveniently located near the Boardwalk. I would stay again.

Great little local hotel! Friendly and helpful staff. Gave us help with recommendations for surf board rentals. CLOSE to the Boardwalk and all it's fun, literally 3 or 4 short block walk away. Close enough to enjoy, far enough to not be bothered. I did have a need for a fax machine and there wasn't one and the continental breakfast wasn't too great […] (cut-up poppy seed muffins, coffee, and juice) but there are plenty of places nearby to eat. Nice room But no hot water. I ran the shower for at least 20 minutes expecting a hot shower after a long day of work and travel and there was none. The hotel staff upon checkout was very un apologetic.

Very friendly and helpful office staff who obviously appreciate your business. Clean room. Not fancy. Nice fridge & microwave in room. Continental breakfast very limited with few healthy choices.

You won't find a better value for a hotel located this close to the beach. It's nothing special but perfect for a weekend trip.

Managers are friendly, courteous and helpful.The place is well-maintained, quiet, spotlessly clean, and is centrally located, within minutes of downtown, cannery row, and aquarium. Modest continental breakfast.

We booked this hotel at the last minute. It was small, a little out-dated, but walking distance to the Boardwalk, beach and pier. The continental breakfast was tiny, but our small kids were okay with it. The heated pool was a big hit!

This was a weekend trip to visit th Boardwalk. This was also my first time booking a room online. I have to admit it wasn't bad! The hotel was moderate, was inexpensive for the location, but wasn't in the prettiest location either. Room was clean and pretty updated. Loved that it was 2 blocks away from the Boardwalk, we didn't have to drive around. […] Didn't care for the bed, wasn't to comfortable. But can't please everyone on that. They don't have much parking spaces on the hotel site for every guest, but they offer a parking permit should you have to park on the street. I was lucky enough to find a parking space. We are glad we chose this hotel for our weekend trip to the beach. Location was very convenient. We parked at the hotel and walked to the beach. The room was comfortable enough and the hotel staff was friendly and competent. I will look for a room here the next time we visit.
