The hotel staff was exceptionally great with their customer service. We arrived pretty late and when we got to the room unfortuntely I booked the wrong room and they were kind enough to upgrade me to a Suite. This is a older hotel but its very nice. The rooms are smaller but the hotel is in a very good location. Overall I would stay again. Very clean and rates where good

Good to stumble to after going out in st Pete. But the fog and haze of alcohol won't cover up what you see in the morning. Men don't take your ladies here.

I spoke with a rep for Hotels.com and she repeatedly told me that this hotel had free, secure parking. This was very important to me. I believe I asked her three times and she assured me that they did. This hotel has NO PARKING. I parked in a public lot which charged $5.00 every time you went in and out. There was no daily rate. Our room was very hot when we first checked in. We left for a little while and when we came back it was still uncomfortable. We complained to the front desk and a maintenance man fixed the problem right away. Great customer service! Great location, close to everything downtown.

What a Great little place. Very Clean and so close to a great night out on the town. We will be staying here again, next time in downtown St. Pete.

This hotel was scary from its location to the neighborhood to the condition of the room. Upon check in the person at front desk did not way to honor my Hotels.com reservation as he said he was sold out of the room type I booked and wanted to charge me more. Yes, the hotel is now a "boutique hotel" but it is also an old building and some of the details are not up to "boutique standards". Nevertheless it was confortable, clean and convenient for my stay in downtown St Pete.

If you have a meeting downtown in St. Pete you cannot find a better value than the Ponce. Service equal to a 5 star hotel at a 3 star price. Rooms are small and best for only one or two people but very art deco like the hotels in South Beach. Park the car ( yes you pay..you are downtown) and walk to everything. Will Never stay here again! The Rooms are extremely tiny, Sheets and Beds Covered in stains, Overall the room didn't appear clean at all. Tv Remote was missing buttons, AC Unit in room worked on occasion. Just an over all horrible!

Although this was a considerably older building, the hotel was nice. It was fairly updated in the decorations. The room and the hotel itself were very clean and the staff was friendly. It was in a convenient location, but I did not like parking in the building diagonal from the hotel. The only complaint or disappointment I had was the bathroom was very […] small and very dated. it was a quick stopover so we were looking for a fairly good CLEAN hotel for the short stay. may not have been my choice for a longer stay but was acceptable and friendly.

The hotel looked nice, the room decor was great! but.... the bed sheets had some dirt and hair on the sheets at the bottom of the bed and hair on the pillow case, I had to actually go and ask for clean pillow cases. Great location--parks and walks right there, convenient to a variety of restaurants and pubs, well-maintained vintage hotel rooms were very nice. The windows opened!

This was my second time staying here. Both times went well, with the second visit better that the first. This time I was lucky to get a room on the recently renovated top/6th floor. I sense this hotel may be Spanish owned and operated, as it has a colorful, vibrant and european feel. I'd classify this place as "budget boutique." It has a very unique, […] modernist feel, with lots of colorful and quirky details. Some of the materials/workmanship seem a bit low-budgety, but the overall experience was refreshing and uplifting for me. I have an art and design background, and I really appreciate the playful expression of color, form, and texture. My bathroom was tiny, but worked ok for me. I think many of the rooms and floor corridors vary a lot from each other, so if you don't like your room or floor, ask for another, and it may be a totally different experience. If you get in early and they don't have room ready on the sixth floor, consider holding out for one if you can. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the place was clean, and the location and cost was outstanding. An quick restaurant tip: I'm fussy about food quality, but had great experience with Lucky Dill, a NY style deli on Central. It's about a four block walk away. There a Publix grocery within walking distance. I recommend checking out the Dali museum. If you can, call ahead and see when the woman with the shoe-hat will be on docent tour duty. Great location and fantastic food right downstairs. Comfortable bed, clean room and plenty of space. However, a very, very small television mounted on the wall that sounded like a scratched record. You have to move furniture to get to any plugs.

i'm kind of picky and was Very surprised after reading some other reviews. very clean. staff was semi-helpful. Great location. definitely stay there again.

We loved the location and the hotel overall. European feel to it with minimal amenities but no need for more with the excellent location.

the staff were great and the place was clean but very old, very small.... we slept on a couch that pulled out into a bed??? no room to walk around and the bathroom was small, loud, and leaky\ the "bed" was hard and so were the pillows. Exellent location and value. Nice hotel. ONly real problem was parking. Not convenient and no real space outside for drop off or pick up.

Hotel and our room were of New York City/Europian apartment style. Bathroom we had is small but good enough. It is a very old building so it is hard to keep it up to look really clean. All of the above would be OK with us but the noise from the street breaks the deal for our next stay. The windows must be low quality - we could hear the street noise […] as if the windows were open (we stayed on the 5th floor!)! We were a short walk to the Chihuly Exhibit and Dali Museum. Great choice of casual restaurants within 2 blocks (don't miss the cupcake store) and nicer restaurants on Beach Dr. Went to a nearby new movie theater. Had a room with 2 beds that was very comfortable. Bath was small but OK. Only oddity was no clock in the room.

Upon arriving at the hotel we had to park across the street in a dirt lot free of charge so no problem, checked in just fine, the elevator was really slow, the room looked fully redone paint furniture and all but honestly i felt like a giant the bed was very low to the ground the dresser was low to the ground the bathroom was so small just not what […] I had imagined from the pictures they showed. I felt like I was in a small dorm room. After settling in we left to go tour the town and upon arriving back the parking lot across the street now had a man in front collecting $10 to park! We drove around for a while and finally found another area for $4 but no overnight parking so we walked to get dinner then walked back and drove around some more till I finally found a spot to parallel park on the side of the street which I wasnt thrilled about but wasnt about to pay $10 when I was able to park there for free hours before. Of course this was a Saturday night so what was I thinking lol Once back in the room to relax again with everything so low it was hard to watch tv comfortably because they had an old tube tv on the dresser which was the same level as the bed. Upon leaving there were rooms that were open because they were cleaning and we noticed those rooms were bigger and had a tv mounted so I'm going on the assumption that they were still working on the tv thing but that doesnt change the factor of the low furniture and feeling like a giant :/ Probably wont stay there again. Ponce De Leon is in a great location. It's close to a lot of bars and restaurants. The tapas place connected to it is fabulous. David at the reception desk was a delight. He was so accommodating and helpful. Thanks David! I would definitely stay here again!

The location is the reason to stay here. The hotel has done a good and interesting job of keeping it's old style with a mix of modern decor. The location is right on Central- great location for shopping, galleries, bars and restaurants. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooms are small (I had the Deluxe Queen and still was surprised at how […] small it was). The bathrooms don't offer much privacy, compared to the more modern chain hotels. But, the rooms were in good condition. Some of the details weren't done with great care (tv wires hanging out, etc), but that's pretty minor. The hotel is perfect for a couple or a solo traveler. My primary frustration with this hotel was the customer service at the front desk. They were rude, slow, understaffed and I felt like I was being helped by a bunch of rude immature teenagers.

Four of us stayed in a room at this hotel because it was within walking distance to our half marathon starting line and was reasonably priced for the area. We were pleasantly surprised to find two double beds when the description indicated there would only be one with rollaway beds available. The room was charming but extremely small. The bathroom was […] comically even smaller, necessitating the location of the sink in the main room! It was functional, though. There is a LOUD party atmosphere in the surrounding streets late at night, so bring your earplugs. We woke up to blaring drumbeats from a neighboring bar at 2 AM. booked a king size bed. when i arrived there was a double bed. called front desk to tell them i booked a king and they told me they dont have a king.false advertisement. also the air wasnt working .ill never stay at ponce de leon hotel again

Very nive boutique hotel. Small but comfortable rooms. Breakfast is not served and if you forget a toothbrush, none is available. Vey close to shops and resteraunts.

The Ponce de Leon is a great little boutique hotel in a good location with excellent service and pretty incredible prices. I grew up in St. Pete, but had only been to the hotel to eat at Ceviche (which is one of the best restaurants downtown, in my opinion). I live in New York now, and my husband and I grabbed a room for a last-minute trip home. We […] both travel frequently for work and pleasure, usually sticking to W, Westin, or St. Regis properties. For trips home, we previously stayed at the Vinoy, but prices were unusually high on this trip so we decided to check out the Ponce (it was actually so cheap that we were a little nervous on arrive). We got to the hotel after midnight, and I was immediately struck by how stylish the lobby was (especially for my sleepy little hometown!). The gentleman who checked us in couldn't have been nicer and got us in our room within minutes. The room was not huge, but thoughtfully laid-out and adorably appointed (kind of artsy-minimalist decor) so we never felt cramped. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the wood floors and unique furniture gave the whole place a decidedly chic feel that was pretty much the opposite of what you'd find at almost any hotel chain. The staff was extremely courteous during our entire stay, and we were able to walk to pretty much everything in downtown. The food at Ceviche was fantastic (and the omelets and lattes at Cafe Ceviche are definitely worth trying as well). Outside of the Vinoy (at 2-4X the price), I don't think there's a better place to stay in St. Pete. I'm so happy we discovered this little gem, and we'll definitely be back on future trips. The location was perfect. We parked the car and never had to move it again until we left. Everything is close by, including Dali's museum. The one and only thing I would complain about is the TV; the room had a tiny flat screen with limited cable and very bad reception. It's an older hotel - so expect that. The elevator was small, the rooms were small, the shower very small for me, an ex-middle linebacker, but it was all quaint. It was as advertised and I enjoyed the stay. The hotel staff could have been a little friendlier. The internet booking said there was free parking, but the hotel actually has no parking lot. […] Free parking was out on the city street. There was a gravel lot that charged $5 for 24 hours, I left my car there and it was safe and untouched when I returned to it the next day. My fiance' and I stayed here the night I proposed to her at the Rays baseball game - so I look forward to many return visits. Within walking distance to some good restaurants. Ceviche', the tapas bar connected to the hotel had good food but was quite pricey - I would not recommend ceviche if you have a healthy appetite. Lisez la suite

I was very excited about my stay when I first arrived in the hotel lobby because everything looked so modern until I got to my room. I was only there one night to stay over from the Rays baseball game so when my husband and I got off the elevater our room was approximately 3 feet from the elevator which meant that all night long as people got in late […] the noise was terrible. Second the room 210 also had the air conditioner unit for the hotel outside the window of the room which was also very noisy late a jet landing all night. The hotel is on central ave. It is near anything in st pete you would like to visit. It is however an older hotel; the air is somewhat dense and the elevator is semi-scary. It was however nice for the reasonable price.

The hotel was very clean, staff was nice and located in a great area. Problems included the size of the room. It was so small. The tv was also very small and not placed well so you couldnt see it well from the bed. Cable is limited and reception is bad. Great if your not planning on staying in the room much. Bad if you are seeking comfort.

I travel extensively for work and typically find the Hotels.com user ratings to be pretty accurate. I was shocked with the poor hotel room quality - carpet stains with human fluids, run down and outdated decor and the rooms were tiny.
