J'y retournerai.
While a little bit run down this family run hotel was clean and the staff friendly. The breakfast was the highlight with excellent pancakes and as much maple syrup as you can eat!

The hotel is exteremely poorly maintained. Treadbare/wornout rooms and common spaces, exit stairs hardwre unsafe, skecth neighbourhood (nearby street mission) panhandlers everywhere. No stores nearby. I would never receommend any stay her
"It's fuctional"
If all u require is a place to sleep then this works fine.
"Horrible"
If you want to waste your money, and at the same time ruin your vacation, choose this hotel (if I can call it a hotel or even a motel). Very small rooms, you can hardly walk in the room, no coffee maker/microwave. A 14 inch tv from 70s with no upgrade or anything. There is even not a place to sit except your bed. No breakfast whcih is 13$. No parking. […] One word, don't go. Lisez la suite
"Good stay"
Nice little hotel, friendly staff. Great price. Its not a luxury hotel. You get what you pay for. Perfect if you need a decent but cheap hotel room.
"Awesome small hotel"
The hotel is situated in the heart of Montreal. Conveniently placed between two metro stops (Berri and Champ De Mars) the hotel is also walking distance to various restaurants and attractions. The bedroom was small (enough to fit a queen bed), but both the room and bathroom. Also parking is separate (there is a parking garage a block away). Overall […] if your looking for a no-frills place to sleep at night and keep your stuff safe I would highly recommend it. Lisez la suite
"great location"
great location and clean washroom the room is not so big, but tidy no wifi upstairs!!
"DO NOT STAY HERE"
never have i enounctered a bed that could not fit my sons 6 foot 2 inch frame. he had to switch rooms for a bed that would fit, then was given a room where the bathroom celing had a giant hole in it and the shower could not be used because the water was intentionally turned off........Stay away from this hotel!!
"Small room, good location"
Rate was affordable, location was fabulous (2 block walk to heart of the Old City), service was fine. The room itself was incredibly small and the bed was pretty uncomfortable, but that was expected considering the rate.
"Small and cute Montreal hotel"
The only thing that we had a problem with was that the windows do not open and there was no way to get any fresh air in the room and since they have central air, you are dependent on them to turn it on as there are no controls in the room. Other than that, the location is great, the room is cute and the location could not be better.
"Basic hotel in great location"
Rooms are bare-bones, but staff is very good - probably a family-run operation. Great location in Old Montreal. Close to subway. I would stay there again.
"A good value"
We were on the second (which for those from the U.S. means third) floor; there was no elevator (we are in our seventies) and no one to help with suitcases. The room was neat and quiet but VERY small. Location was excellent -- at the end of a section of the Old City that was fascinating, and close to public transportation. Parking was a couple of blocks […] away. All in all . . . we were looking for a hotel on the less expensive side, and given that, we were satisfied with what we got. Lisez la suite
"Excellent Location"
Clean rooms, close to the old town and a short walk to the waterfront. Very good price for its location and if you accept that its a good clean two star hotel you wont be dissapointed.
"Great location"
This hotel is for traveler's on the budget. It is not for those who are looking for luxury. Price was right and location was great. Attractions were within walking distance in Old Montreal, within a few minutes walk from Champ De Mars subway station and airport express route, #747 bus stop.
You do not stay here for the ambiance, but for the central location on the edge of Old Montreal. Our room (excluding the bathroom) was 7'x9'. The bed and small desk filled the room. The bed and bathroom was clean, the staff was friendly. There was free wi-fi in the lobby. Breakfast is no longer included, $10 charge, so we ate @ Tim Hortons close by. […] There is no elavator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs to your room. The location on the edge of Old Montreal was excellent. We felt safe walking out from the hotel to the old city, and waking back at night. They give you a room key, a hallway key, and a front door key to the hotel so you can enter and leave securely as you wish. Also, the old town bus route, 515, runs right in front of the hotel, and the bus stop is just one block away. This makes it convenient to get around Montreal without a taxi. It is also near the subway station. We stayed here 3 nights before beginning a cruise. Their regular rate is high, but if you get a good rate (-50%+), it is an excellent value. I recommend it for those looking for a clean bed and aren't looking for the comforts of a high end hotel. Lisez la suite
"Not too bad."
The location of the hotel is good, close to old part of Montreal. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the main shopping street St. Catherine. The woman at the reception didn't make us feel welcome, but the man was more helpful. The hotel was outdated and the whole building was a little crooked, but it didn't disturb us. The breakfast is not included […] in the price, so we decided to eat elsewhere. There was no elevator so we had difficulties with our big luggage. Internet connection works only in the lobby. Our room had air conditioning. There is nothing wrong with this hotel if you only need a place to stay for a couple of nights. Lisez la suite
The hotel was okay, but I expected more for that price. It might be close to Old Montreal, but it is located in a neighbourhood with a lot of homeless people on the street. My room was *very* small, and the wireless internet was only available in the common area. It was however a nice courtesy of the hotel owner to move me from the 3rd to the 1st floor […] because I had so much luggage. The price for a simple sandwich during lunch was outrageous though, and no shops (food, drinks) were close to the hotel. I wouldn't recommend other people to go here, because surely you must be able to find a more modern hotel with bigger rooms closer to downtown Montreal for example, without all the dodgy people on the street outside the hotel. Lisez la suite
"An OK Hotel"
Not too bad of a choice if you are someone that does not value living condition at all - this hotel is truly not one of the comfortable ones to provide you a roomy or luxurious stay. Room is too tiny for anything additional, even for a medium sized baggage. Surprisingly, the bathroom is clean, tidy and seemingly more spacious than the bedroom per se. However, […] at the price of over a hundred including tax, I am sure people will spare a little more on the margin to upgrade to a much higher level, except for the factor of proximity. Old Montreal is steps away, perfect for sightseers. Overall, I doubt if I will recommend this to everyone. But if the price goes low, give it a go. Lisez la suite
A very basic, old hotel which is in urgent need of major renovations. We didn't pay much but we didn't get much either. Convenient to Greyhound bus terminal, underground rlwy station and a couple of restaurants.
"Location is not everything..."
We booked the Hotel Champ De Mars because of the location. Note the regular rack rate is 2x, what we booked. It is not worth 1/4 of our payment. The hotel room is small. approximately 12 x 14 foot. The bed was old (10year?), hard and squeeked with every turn. The bed covers were just as old and worn. The pillow...well lets say the pillows were flat […] like a pancake (or if you are in Montreal, flat like a crepe). The windows leaked water (it was raining). The many of the bath tiles were cracked, broken and missing. The hotel has 3 floors, and no elevator (the 1st floor is on the second level). So we hiked up 4 levels with our luggage after check in. The carpet is old, and gave the lobby, hall ways and room a dark dingy feel. The WiFi connection only works in the lobby. There are three keys provided at check-in (lobby, stairway and room). There is a hefty fee if you loose the keys. The lobby is in need of a make over (vintage 1970's). Parking is in a public garage 1 1/2 blocks behind the hotel (the cost was reasonable). Overall, I would not recommend the hotel because of the ageing state, lack of maintanence and lack of comfortable bedding. Lisez la suite
"Champ de Mars -Depends on what you are looking for"
Ok, simply put, if you are coming to have a comfortable King Size, chill in the hotel, hit the in house spa, order room service, etc. Go somewhere else. This place is for ease of walking distance from Old town and L'Olympia Concert venue.
"well we asked for them to turn on the a/c"
They refused! They said it was still too cold to turn it on. So we sweat and could not sleep for 3 days. Otherwise we liked the hotel.

"Hotel Champ De Mars"
Look, this is not a luxury hotel by any means, but the staff are very helpful, the hotel is clean and quiet, and the location is fantastic. For what you pay for, you get great service and a modest but sufficient accommodation. Considering we were out most of the day, and only needed it to sleep and get ready, it was perfect. The pros: has a rustic […] charm-- small old building, but cleand the lobby is very nice. Right in old Montreal, with minutes walking distance to the port and all of old Montreal. Biggest pro of course is the price. Right beside Champ De Mars metro station. Staff are very nice, breakfast is good. The cons: the room we had was teeny tiny. The bed pretty much fills up most of it, with a bit of stepping room on each side. No closet, and a small bathroom. Only two small outlets, and a tiny TV. Wi-fi is pretty shotty, cuts in and out but works well from the lobby area. Also, we had a noise coming from the fan in the bathroom when the light was on-- should go away with a bit of cleaning. Also, windows don't open. It feels very much like a college dorm room because of its size. Overall, if you don't need much luxury and want to spend as little as possible on accommodation, I recommend this place. Lisez la suite
"European style hotel"
very close to metro and old town which is deserted at night but good sightseeing during day/evening.Hotel friendly and moderately clean and frriendly.Nice $10 breakfast. Very small (european) bedroom and no elevator.Street parking nearby or multistorey
The staff was especially friendly, the rooms are small but cozy, and the location is terrific!
"Good deal for its location"
Good deal for its location; a clean place to stay. Double bed firm, small corner room with 3 windows, decent bathroom. Few other people there the one week-night we stayed so no noise issues. Older wood frame building could have noise issues when busy. Owner and staff directed us when asked, inside parking 1.5 blocks away for 16 per day. Stairs with […] heads up from other reviews not an issue. Full breakfast impressive. We felt secure and would stay there again. Lisez la suite
"Hotel Champ De Mars"
The hotel was quaint and clean - the staff was friendly and the breakfast very good. Parking was down the street and cost $17 per day. The rooms were uncomfortably small and, with no elevator, I would not recommend this to anyone who has difficulty climbing steep stairs - especially with luggage.

"Good value and location"
The rooms are small and basic, but everything was clean and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast, like everyone said, was great, and it was fun to eat next to the family that runs the place. This is right around the corner from the beautiful old town and a couple of blocks from the metro. There is kind of a gap between the old town and the Latin Quarter, […] etc. that is a little sketchy, so this may not be the best place if you plan to walk around late at night by yourself. But you shouldn't be doing that anyway, right? Good value. Lisez la suite
"Hotel Champ De Mars"
My fiance and I enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms were small and simple; they felt much more like a European double hostel room than a typical cold hotel. It had a warm old world kind of feel, the staff was great, and the complementary breakfast was a great way to start the morning (I recommend the waffles). This is great if you are looking for […] a friendly memorable stay. If, however, you are looking for a standard luxury or business style hotel this is not the place for you. It was also close to Greyhound station and just a couple blocks from Metro stop Lisez la suite
"Nice stay for the price."
The hotel staff was very kind. The hotel has a nice look due to the age of the building. It is a nice area, near the old Montreal, close to the metro and downtown. So very convenient for the location. However, there was too much air conditioner and we didn't have the control of it. The reception is not open 24h. They close at 23h and open at 8h00. And […] if people call you after they are gone, the calls are not transfered to your room... No alarm (clock) in the room. A bit noisy and beds are not very comfortable. Got to say that the breakfeast are good though, much bigger than other hotels at the same price. Lisez la suite
"Very Good location and food was satisfactory"
The first thing was the welcoming. Not too friendly, no smiles and all business. Who are you, reservation number, all that business. I asked about "secured" parking. An extra $15/day and 1.5 blocks away. Better off advertising, "no parking"! After that up the stairs, 3rd floor. Room was loud as it was roadside. Heard every mustang that drove by... all […] night. Room was cute, TV was out of the 70s era and the bathroom could really have used a little TLC reno. The breakfast was satisfactory, I had bacon/sausages, eggs toast. Then the location, difficult to beat. It was great. No complaints on that. The biggest complaints, however, was at the end when checking the room to see if we left anything. We found someone else's underwear, under the bed! Dirty. Also, they would ask for "their tip"! The rates... The first night was about the same cost of a motel, fair and reasonable somewhat. The second night for that place, about same cost of a resort-spa in Hollywood Cali, CRAZY! I might do this again, but only on a last resort basis and the costs are more fitting for the level of hospitality, a motel. Hope this helps. Lisez la suite
"Great Value"
The bed was not comfortable, but for the price, the location and overall amenities were amazing. Great great location for the price, and a nice quaint experience.

"I enjoy the hotel except for the damn parking!"
Everything in the hotel is good. I just needed somewhere to sleep and shower. It was comfortable to me. I choose this hotel when I go up to Montreal because its a decent price. Although the lady charged me more when I asked for a second night? The breakfast wasn't totally free, but it was good. They said the charge was for the service? Parking is a […] annoying, at first I parked in a garage down the street, got charged 7 bucks for being in there an hour? The garage was closed when I got back later that night, keep in mind I got a parking ticket last time I was there. So after driving around, getting annoyed, I said screw it, I'll risk a stupid parking ticket, so I park right down the street near the bike path. I got lucky, no ticket. Parking was the main problem but overall everything else wasn't bad. Lisez la suite
"Ok hotel"
The location was great, the price was good, but the room was very very small. The free breakfast was excellent.
"Great choice for a short stay"
Rooms are a little small for extended periods of time but one or two nights would be fine. Front desk was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, lots of choices off the menu. There is not parking at the hotel itself. A garage with decent rates is located just .2 miles south on Rue Du Champ-de-Mars. The metro station Champ-de-Mars is within […] a 5 minute walk. Overall, the hotel is in a great, central location. Definitely a great choice if you'll be spending time in Old Montreal. Lisez la suite

"Good Room for the money"
The hotel was ok. We didn't spend much time there since there is so much to do in Montreal. The location of the hotel is excellent, right near everything! We would start our day off with a excellent, fullfilling and complimentary breakfast at the hotel. The only down side of the hotel are the beds!
"outstanding hotel"
the location was excellent .. yes the room size is small but since i had read other reviews i was not surprised. all the staff members we encountered were friendly and most helpful. the choices of breakfast were also excellent. we definitely plan to return to this same establishment in the future.
"Great room for the money"
wonderful place to stay for a short Montreal visit, although the rooms are small, they are very clean and tidy. A Delicious Breakfast is included with the hotel rate and the staff is so friendly which makes the stay so worth.
