LaSalle Hotel by Magnolia Hotels - Bryan

This was a one night stay on a Sunday night. I arrived close to midnight, and was able to check in effortlessly. The lobby is small, but ample for light traffic. My room was a Queen suite facing the street, and courtyard, located on the third floor. The room was efficiently decorated, and had plenty of lighting. Windows cover all exterior walls, providing […] a great view of the historic downtown area that surrounds the hotel. This area alone would be worth a stay, to be able to wander around during the day, and take in the shops. The bathroom had a claw footed jaccuzi tub, and what looked to be an origional sink. The water pressure was not the strongest, and the water at the hottest setting could have been warmer, but was passable. The room was clean, and included a mini fridge, and a flat screen TV. There is no Wifi available, only wired internet. The water pipes clanked when water was used in another room, but there was no other hotel noise apparent. The most noticable noise, at odd hours of the night came from trains passing a block away from the hotel. If you are a railroad fan, then you would enjoy this, and the view of the trains as they snake past the hotel. If you are wanting a fulll night's sleep, beware. The continental breakfast was a cold one, with the excecption of waffles. No meat was apparent, but coffee, and oj rounded out the cereal, and bagels. Overall, I felt this was a nice historic hotel, and would consider staying here again, with earplugs. Lisez la suite

This was a return visit after we stayed here last year. Went up to see the Bush museum/library. We like the "boutique" atmosphere as opposed to the cookie-cutter national chains. Nice that they offer a free drink from the well during happy hour and milk and cookies at bedtime. Decent breakfast w waffles, bagels, toast. The less than perfect scores […] would be bc the windows in the room were quite dirty; and the location, while it is nice to be just a block or two from good downtown bars and restaurants, has the drawback of being so close to the railroad tracks. Trains do go through during the night and the wee small hours of the morning. Light sleepers may have trouble sleeping through them. Lisez la suite

I chose this particular hotel because of the pictures on the sight. I wanted a nice place for a romantic night. The delux suite was very small with a tiny little shower with hardly enough room to stand. I was very dissapointed with this aspect of the hotel. This hotel is a value for your money. It is charming and convenient to everything. I would definitely stay there again and recommend to others.

Beautiful historic hotel located in the downtown area! Was charmed by the scale replica of the hotel in gingerbread in the lobby. Luxurious deep claw foot jaccuzi tub in my room was to die for! We stayed here over the Christmas weekend while visiting friends. The lobby had a full-sized Christmas tree and a gigantic gingerbread replica of the hotel. Cookies and milk were available for guests as well as Santa. The complimentary breakfast bar was generous and included waffles, cereals, fresh fruit, coffee, juice and bagels. The restaurant breakfast […] menu was very inexpensive. 2 eggs, 3 slices of bacon, hashbrowns, coffee, and toast are only $5. The bed was very comfortable; the furniture included an antique desk and side tables. The carpet was clean (first clean hotel carpet I have encountered in 2011). Although there were not many guests, we were assigned a corner room that had a huge support pillar in the middle of the room between the bed and the bathroom. The shower was European, ie tiny and equipped with a hand held shower head. Internet connection was iffy. I would stay here again without hesitation. The downtown is quaint and includes several restaurants, antique stores, a community theatre, and a custom cowboy hat store (they shape them to your requirements). However, you should know that the hotel, like the rest of downtown Bryan, is surrounded by two sets of train tracks. On Saturday night there was one train about 11 pm. On Sunday night there were several trains including one at about 3am (I slept thru it) and another at around 6 am. There is no mention of this in the reviews or hotel information that I found before booking the hotel. I knew about the tracks and suspected we might hear some trains, but hoped that the windows were double paned and the wall insulation was good. Neither was the case. So bring earplugs, leave your small and easily frightened youngsters with a sitter, check out the shower before you unpack, and enjoy this historic hotel in the heart of Bryan. A great value. The LaSalle wasn't quite on the level of some other boutique remodel hotels that I've stayed in. This was more like an old hotel that has been updated, rather than renovated and transformed. The City is working on the issue to make the area a quiet zone for the train horns. Trains do blow horns at night so beware. Other than that the hotel and staff are wonderful. Great local places to eat as well.

the hotel is very nice and very clean. they offer 2 drinks for happy hour and the breakfast is nice as well. the only thing is its right beside a train track so it does seem loud a couple of times. The downtown is coming back to life and there are some very nice restaurants in walking distance.

Nice small boutique hotel. Drinks and breakfast included. Downtown Bryan is nice with local restaurants. $20 cab ride over to Kyle field was well worth it/no parking hassel.

I have stayed with LaSalle twice in this year already. Should I make another pilgrimage to Bryan to see my best friend, I will very definitely stay with them again. Those who complain about the train must not like trains. You can barely hear them in the room - and I find them soothing. The dining room is very convenient and has good food. Drink menu […] is limited but pick one and it is good. I can find nothing to complain about. Lisez la suite

Great place to stay, wonderful room, nightly cookies and milk and breakfast is nice. Could have more TV channels. Not really close to A&M, but nice break and great restaurants close by.

Very well done renovation of an old early 1900s hotel. Bed was plush, comfortable and even a bit romantic. Plenty of little shops around old downtown Bryan. But the trains running all night long less than 100 yards away were a bit annoying. For that reason only I gave it a 4.

We loved this quaint and historic hotel. Great downtown area around it. Our room was comfortable. The only complaint is that we had a tiny stand up shower. It did the job, but it was small. Be sure to ask for a tub if you stay here. We missed the milk and cookies that they offer every night from 8-10 pm but wished we had been around at that time.

The room was really small but clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not as good as most but a really good value for the money. The charm of the building and surrounding area was great. I would stay here again

We have stayed at this hotel twice and were pleased with the value for the money. It is a very chic boutique like hotel, however it is lacking some of the amenitieis that you would find in a newer hotel. A few things that stood out the most to me were that there is only one mirror which is located in the bathroom, and the matresses are not so great. […] If you enjoy the character of a New York style boutique hotel, I think you would be pleased with the LaSalle. I was disappointed in the hotel's appearance with regard to decorations. I see the LaSalle as a stately old hotel but our room had two beautiful antique pieces which is what I expected. Then on the other hand it had PURPLE painted headboards and a metal chair. The room was a queen double but was so tiny we couldn't pass each other in the room without […] having to step out of the way. The room was clean, restroom was nice (small), and location was fine. nice and clean with great service, loud trains in the morning were the only bad thing....but it was tolerable. rooms were a little small but comfy with all amenities needed.

We had a wonderful time during out stay. We arrived late Sunday night and after spending a couple of hours with our son and his friends we retired back to the hotel. The bed was a little hard for our tastes but the room was good sized and the bathroom was huge. The only bad thing is that the shower is really small. No room to move away from the water […] spray. There was plenty of space to make it larger which I would hope they will do someday. Will definitely stay here again but request a room with larger shower. Lisez la suite

Trains. The hotel is in a quaint, hip downtown area, but unfortunately it sits between 2 sets of highly trafficked railroad tracks. There are a few that run up until midnight and they start again around 5 am. We got used to it and would stay here again. The room was clean, comfortable and had a great a/c! which was a nice feature for July in Texas. […] The staff are friendly and there is a nice resturaunt/bar. Downtown Bryan has slot to offer in the way of great food, live music, and shopping....mostly antiques. The LaSalle is ideal for a girls weekend getaway or for a romantic stay. We really liked this hotel! It's a historic building, and you can tell it's old, but it's well-maintained. Very nice staff and attentive service. Free happy hour drink from the well, cookies and milk before bedtime, good breakfast choices, including waffle maker. A very nice change from the national chains. We will definitely be returning.

Beautiful old hotel with lots of atmosphere, good restaurant, wonderful people. Don't expect the cool old bathtub unless you ask for it, and there's no c-store close, so have everything you need. The worst thing is the parking - there's not any. You park on the street with everyone else who is going to the restaurants, bars, and stores. as a last minute hotel for my uncles death, there should have been a better accomodation for the wake was between 3-7 pm & check in was 300 pm so where is there time to prepare also the funeral was at 200 pm sat and checkout was 1100 am. there should be better consideration for weeping times like this & the reservations were well aware. My Dad & his […] better half were also Handicapped & they go to breakfast & were charged for eggs over easy thats just uncalled for when your competion sells a full breakfast with full amenities with eggs ,pancakes , waffles and toast. i understand the last minute reservation but who can plan for death. i certainly cant. I like staying in hotels that have become historical landmarks and the LaSalle didn't disappoint. My only minor complaints are that they could have a better breakfast in the mornings, not just the standard fare of pastries, cereal and pancakes. And also that I would have preferred an in-room safe, like I've seen in other hotels. That said, I did like […] this place. The staff were all exceptionally nice and helpful. Immaculately clean, great linens, bed firm but not too hard, staff very pleasant, hot shower, great coffee. Loved the mismatched furnishings. I had seen this hotel on a previous trip to College Station and wanted to try it next time I was in town. Arrived Sunday and left Monday. Downtown Bryan was dead on Sunday and nothing opened til 10 or later on […] Monday, if at all. Trains roll past during the night, not a big deal to me as I already live near a railway, but would be a problem for a light sleeper. Lisez la suite

We had a snafu with some gun left on the carpet floor, which was annoying. But it was cleaned after we told the staff the next day. Our shower had an open light bulb in it w/out a waterproof cover, so a potential for electrocution. There is only one waffle iron, so making waffles for the entire hotel in the morning can create a long line and very time […] consuming. They should have at least two to move things along. The noozle of sink faucet is too short to allow for water to drip directly into the sink. Instead it spatters around the sink and drips down through the cut between countertop and sink's edge, causing an onset of mildew under the sink. I was very pleased with my accomodations at the hotel. It was clean, comfortable and the people I came in contact with were very helpful and congenial. I must warn some of you that aren't used to a little night music that the train does come very close by and with horns blaring. I'm used to that so it did not bother me. They come through very quickly […] so not to worry. There are several good restaurants and local shopping destinations close on to the hotel. The area is pedistrian friendly. There is also a stage company across the street. Go see a play! You should find enough to keep you busy for a short stay. The only negative of any real import I have is that they need to give those of us who are only slightly handicapped a way to let them know what less onerous requirements we might have - such as, the bath tub was a little tall for my short frame and bad knees. I did find a fixture to hang off of for stability. They did have one waiter that needs to do something else - he ignored customers while he played Scrooge McDuck with the change in the register. Everyone else was very professional and courteous. All in all, I was very pleased with my experience at the LaSalle and plan to stay with them again when the occasion arises. Lisez la suite

I loved the Historic way this Hotel was with all the Antique Furniture. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom with its Jacuzzi Tub was huge and like new. It was a great place and the staff was very friendly.

My daughter and I were in town for a tennis tournament . Room was great, quiet, very clean and safe. I stayed for two nights and was very satisfied. It's in the middle of downtown Bryan and close to restuarants.

Very impressive!! Extremely Clean! Loved the breakfast in the morning and cookies at night. I have a freshman at A&M and plan on making this my hotel for all events!

They have done a beautiful job restoring the hotel and it is lush on a budget. Interesting mix of old and new. The woman that checked us in and gave us information was delightful. The young pretty bartender did not know how to make a vodka gimlet and could have used a little training. The LaSalle is a beautiful restored hotel with modern furnishings and amenities. It is conveniently located in the heart of Downtown Bryan, near all for the attractions, restaurants, and nightlife. The room was tiny for the price they charge. The train horns blow all night. Downtown Bryan has open parking, so there were times we parked several blocks away. We got there early (around 12:30 PM). We were told checkin was at 2 , when we came back at 2, we were told check in was at 3. One of the key cards didn't work. The only advantages are the proximity […] to Texas A&M (where we were visiting) and the fact that there are places to eat nearby.
