"Nice hotel and friendly staff"
It was nice and the staff was very friendly but I was a little disappointed I had to pay for WiFi on top of the price of the room. I guess this is common in London though. Thank you for the nice stay.
"Ideal Proximity for business trips!"
2nd time I have stayed at this hotel and I would certainly recommend it to others. The rooms are comfortable and have all required amenities. This time round there was some confusion over my breakfast bill but this was rectified both quickly and smoothly.
Good hotel. Right at the Russell Square Tube stop from Heathrow Airport on the Piccadilly line.
"Great with some caveats"
Excellent location....very close to British Museum. The hotel is very nice with vast marble in the main stairway. Wifi is NOT included and cost me 15GBP a day. The room was nice but it was a corner room and the angle of the wall was a bit annoying as I had to duck often. The bed was the most comfortable I had in London or any UK hotel. It wasn't US […] / Canada comfortable, but it was UK nice. The Consieur was not very helpful at all until I was ready to leave and suddenly attentive. He called me a "car" to take me to the train station for 17GBP and he said they take Credit Card.... It was 12 GBP taxi but if they took Visa I said yes... the car got there and after we left the driver informed me that there is an additional fee for using a credit card and basically wanted me to leave an open credit card ticket so the office could calculate the fee. I told him "no" and that I would pay 17 and if that wasn't okay he could take it up with the hotel. Lisez la suite

"Hotel Russell - good location - pretty good stay"
I stayed at Hotel Russell whilst in London for Business. 2 night stay at the hotel including breakfast. I was not happy with my first room as it was near a ventilation unit and it was a bit noisy, I requested another room which was done instantly. Great service by the staff at the hotel and they are very helpful with any queries. I included breakfast […] in my stay, but would recommend that you allow plenty of time for breakfast. The restaurant gets quite busy and even at 8:15am there was a small queue. I was seated within 5 minutes and breakfast was great, plenty of choice - fry-up/cereals/fruit etc. My room was excellent, very comfortable, not noisy at all - could hear people walking to their rooms etc but nothing that would keep you awake at night. Bathroom was great, shower pressure was good although some of the water kept running out of the bath tap rather than the shower head. The hotel is a great location, only one stop away from Kings Cross, and literally around the corner from the Russell Square tube station. Lisez la suite
"Good location - comfy bed."
Just booked room only so can't comment on the food at all. Service very friendly, location good (one stop on the tube from Kings Cross and 20 min walk to Covent Garden) and bed extremely comfortable. Some of the bathroom fittings a bit tired but all very clean so no complaints. No problems looking after our luggage for us on the day we left while we […] did a bit more sightseeing before the train home. Lisez la suite
"London hotel experience"
Hotel Russel london is overall good hotel. A little expensive but this probably what everyone pays for a stay close to the London centre. The Superior room was well designed and roomy. Our only complain about the room was the bed: matress is too soft, pillows are synthetic, the comforter is too warm. The bad was way worse than the firm one in Malmaison […] Oxford we stayed two nights before. Lisez la suite

"Best Ever"
This was our first trip to London, a good friend suggested we stay at Hotel Russell for the true flavor of London, He was exactly right... great hotel, great room and wonderful stay. We loved it.
"The Russel Hotel, London, luxury rooms, good locat"
We stayed at the Russel Hotel for a weekend. The hotel is housed in a magnificent late 19th century building, and the shared spaces and the rooms were impressive. This is a quite luxurious hotel, and everything works impeccably. A newspaper appeared by the door in the morning, which was nice. My only complaint is about the bar. They didn't have any ales […] available, so if you want that you'll need to find a pub. It could also be a bit bigger, it became very crowded. Of course that was Friday night, but still. Lisez la suite
"Great location for the visitor of London"
Hotel Russell is a pleasant hotel with a friendly staff. I found it to be the perfect location for my purposes. 12 minute walk to Saint Pancras, 30 seconds from the under ground and bus lines, 20 minutes to Soho by foot. Clean and spacious and reasonably priced. My only complaint is when rebooking at the front desk they seemed to prefer that you did […] it online which was odd. Lisez la suite
"excellent service, great location"
From check in to check out and in between with the friendly service of the delightful and helpful concierge, our stay at Hotel Russell could not have been better. The rooms are a bit small (the hotel is over 100 years old), but everything has been updated to create a charming and modern hotel in a delightful and convenient part of London. Steps from […] the Underground and a short walk to St. Pancras Station where we caught the Eurostar to Paris, with Indian restaurants, pubs and shops,it was the perfect place for our holiday. I highly recommend the Alternative Tour of London's artsy East End as well. The creator and guide Gary was excellent. Lisez la suite
"Good value for money!"
In a city where hotel prices at times seems ludicrous Russel Hotel offered us good value for money. The only "flaw" would be that the common areas showed clear signs of wear and tear and could do with a face-lift. Other than that it was all good. Room was nice and spacious, location is great with the Tube stopping (Piciadily line) just around the corner, […] the "minipark" in front of the hotel is a nice little "green lung", its walking distance frm Covent garden area as well as Oxford st. I wud have no problems recommending this hotel to anyone - be it for business or pleasure. Cheers Lisez la suite

"Hotel Russell in Bloomsbury, London, England"
Gorgeous exteriour and interior. Room was lovely, bathroom small but usable. I thought the breakfasts were over priced so we found places near by to eat. I would definitley stay here again. Concierge people were extremely nice and helpful
Horrible customer service! Took me forever to check in and no one was helpful. When i checked out i asked to be helped with my luggage and the responds was no because it was too heavy! I was also told that I needed to give my credit card information in advanced but the money would not be taken out of my account which lead to me having to pay my hotel […] bill and also have that same amount frozen on my account and i was told it might take a week for it to be back in my account. So I basically paid double the amount for a week. I spent about 1000 pounds on my 7 day stay and I have gotten better service from a 2 star hotel where I have only paid a fraction of this. Very unsatisfied! Lisez la suite
"Weekend in the Hotel Russel"
Hotel was undergoing renovation which meant the corridors on our floor had the smell of fresh paint (which isn't the worst smell in the world). Otherwise the hotel was well presented, well represented by the friendly staff and nicely positioned next to the tube station.

"Excellent Location"
Stayed for a weekend FEB 10-12. Very much enjoyed my stay. The staff were very polite, we arrived late, which was no problem, the girl at check in even offered to let me use her Oyster card, as I had not purchased one yet! Amazing. Tesco 24hr shop around the corner for anything you need. Tube stop 100m away. One point to note: We slept too late (after […] a heavy night of partying) and missed check out on sunday by 4 hours. The hotel staff didnt call us or attempt to make us leave (which was nice of them) but there was a £10 per hour late checkout fee, but was worth it. Highly recommended, I will stay again. "fighting your way past the smokers"
Stayed for 2 nights for a theatre trip, to begin on arrival offered a junior suite upgrade at a reasonable rate and a good discount on breakfast all good. Went out for dinner as there was a very noisy crowd in the main conference room, on the way out was greeted by 20 people standing on the hotel main entrance steps smoking, which was a particular feature […] of the hotel over the next 2 days. The room has no heating except for an air handling unit previously used as an engine on Concorde but rejected as it was too noisy, and a small towel rail to heat a vast bathroom without the benefit of double glazing. We went to bed as it was too cold to do anything else. At about 2.30am we were awoken by the very drunk and very loud, who decided outside our room was a good place to talk/ shout asked them to turn it down greeted with the usual drunk comments. Not to worry they soon went on their merry way. Bath / shower water temp never rose above warm in the 2 days we were there. 2nd night we had a female pop star who sang at the top of her voice for us for 35 mins at 2am the same song over and over again "she had the key" Breakfast was canteen style and was okay not 4 star but far from bad except for one crucial thing the tea was pre made and put out in little jugs and it was stewed to within an inch of its life, the coffee was no better, they make you cook your own toast but you cant make your own tea/ coffee. Good bits the staff were excellent and the concierge service brilliant. This is our 3rd stay but there are better cheaper hotels very close by and we will try our luck there next time. Lisez la suite
"Not what it seems"
The room was old fashioned and falling apart. I was located beside some service room and the noise was very annoying. Small rooms big price. Won't be back.
"Elegance, kindness, safe and great local"
I took my son to London for the first time. I have been many times but never stayed at this wondrous hotel. This is the BEST HOTEL in London and I will never stay anywhere else ever. THE STAFF IS POLITE and the decor is stunning. loved the old style but modern renovations. LOVE IT!!
"Hotel Russell"
One week stay during a business course. Meeting room very poor layout and major issues with internet connection. In summary very expensive, poor service and bad food.
"Hotel Russell London - Great location"
Good hotel. Walking distance to Picadilly Square. On the subway line directly from Heathrow. Safe area to walk. Only downfall is no WiFi in the rooms. Had to sit in the lobby. Washroom was a bit tight but clean and good condition. Would definitely stay again.
"Hotel Russell"
The Hotel Russell in Russell Square was situated in an ideal location, underground, colleges, local amenities and some fabulous shops. Night life was hopping and a great energy about the place. Will defenitely stay again!!
"Hotel Russell, London"
Fantastic Hotel, Great location, Excellent staff, Beautiful room, Highly reccomend.
"hotel russell close to theatres"
Everything was lovely but i did expect the room to be larger, Travel Lodge rooms are larger..Would definately book again though everything we needed on the doorstep..A very special stay on my partners 50th birthday and a fantasic local Indian restaurant, best madras curry ever.
The location is fantastic, only about fifteen minutes walk from the west end; perhaps five more down to Picadilly Circus. It's about the same distance up to Camden as well, if that is what you're looking for. The subway goes all the way from Heathrow to Russel Square -- basically you emerge from the building behind the hotel -- so you can get to and […] from the airport cheaply and relatively easy. We took a cab from the airport to the hotel and, perhaps also due to some roadworks, cost about £100 and took 35 minutes. The subway out took perhaps 55 minutes. Although we booked two Executive Single rooms, they were quite different. One had nice mood lighting, decorations and a large 42" TV, the other had pretty dull lighting, almost no decorations, small(er) TV but instead had a bathtub in its bathroom. In my room, the air conditioning was loud and pretty poor; however I've been at places with much louder AC, so it wasn't that bad. The breakfasts are nice but hugely expensive. You can get a full english (though not as a buffet, if that is important to you) around the corner for about 1/4 of the price. The continental breakfast is quite a bit cheaper and if that is what you want, you will have more trouble finding a comparable breakfast just outside the hotel. Lisez la suite
"Loved the hotel"
Great Hotel and very nice staff in Hotel Russell. Loved my stay over there and it is very central for everything in Central London. The only (small) downside is the fact that some guests should be a bit less noisy, wooden floors and running children is not nice in the middle of the night but this has nothing to do with the hotel but more with the parents […] not keeping their children quiet. Will certainly getting back to this hotel in the future Lisez la suite
"Hotel Russel"
Website pictures does not correspond to reality. The so called renovation was made in haste. Shabby rooms. Cleanliness at very low level. Had to call twice for them to re-clean my room. Hair and other remains from previous guest present in linen and in bathroom. Sound insulation obsolete. Disco in conference room made my room vibrate and made it impossible […] to sleep. Breakfast a very clear disappointment. Not even possible to brew your own tea. Can not understand that the hotel can be ranked 4 stars. Clearly 3 stars. Not for business travelers. Internet connection wobbly and got double charged for the usage. Would not recommend to anybody. Lisez la suite

"Hotel Russel - consider other choices"
This hotels staff sucks, really bad service. The toilet was full of earlier guests poo. The restaurant forgot my order so I had to wait a long time for service. During one night, the fire alarm started and the chaos it started was to be expected but the staff was totally confused and if there would have been a real fire I think a lot of people would […] have died ! No control of the situation. I liked to stay at the hotel when it was a Forte chain hotel but now it sucks for the money you pay. Lisez la suite

"Over priced and not 4 star"
i stayed in a single room. Although in a fabulous location and impressive from the outside, from the second i entered the hotel the service and comfort was lacking. The reception staff struggled to find my booking and then insisted on repeatedly trying to sell me breakfast, which i didn't want. Having paid to find a hotel with internet access provided, […] this information was again lacking in the guest drectory, rooms and when asking staff. The rooms were tatty and overly warm. In my first room i had to put the airconditioning on, for this to be deafeningly noisy. I moved rooms where this was slightly quieter and the temperature a little more bearable, but still the room was too hot in the night, and because it faced the main road I had the worst night's sleep in several months, despite wearing ear plugs. Furnishing in the room was dated, assorted tatty furniture and appliances, and you could see the peeling paint in the bathroom, as well as evidence of black mould in the grouting. The room was overpriced by about 50%. It was not what I expected from a 4 star hotel. Lisez la suite

"Pretty shabby in the rooms"
Looks better in the pics than in reality. Pay the premium for the refurbished upper floors … but even then the modernization looks like an amateur DIY process.

"Hotel Russell - Loud!"
I've not had such a bad nights' sleep in a long time. I had a single room on the fourth floor overlooking the inside of the building, where all the mechanics are located. Not a great view, but at least I had a window. The noise is about on par with someone running a vacuum cleaner in the next room. My real problem was with the air conditioning. The […] room was quite warm, even for a nice-ish day in October. It was too warm to sleep without using the AC, but the noise from the unit was similar to running a lawn mower. I made do until about 3am, when I decided I did need to get some sleep! Turned the AC off, and woke up at about 5 from the heat in the room. A no-win situation! It's a nice enough hotel, unless you want to sleep... Lisez la suite

"Hotel Russell - great building"
Just back from 2 nights in London, staying at The Russell was very convenient to where I needed to be. The building is amazing and when leaving friends outside it was great for them to see the lobby and outside of the hotel. The room was small, as I only had a single but perfect for what I needed. Like many hotels in Europe in the older areas, the room […] was a bit dated, but charming all the same. I have stayed at some of the nicest hotels in the world and I was not in any way uncomfortable. I would stay here again if business takes me back to Russell Square area of London. Lisez la suite

"Charm and tradition"
We returned to the Russell after a long absence. We had stayed in other hotels on other visits. We were glad to be back and have already booked our next stay. Bloomsbury is still charming and now the Eurostar is in walking distance, as are Euston, the British Museum, Sir John Soane Museum and so on
"The Hotel Russell, London."
We were comfortable in the hotel and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly towards us. The breakfast was delicious.
