"Good hotel for price; beware of paper-thin walls"
This is a nice 4-star hotel at a reasonable price. The bed was comfortable but the bathroom is small (and the bath tub is tiny even for a petite person). I was in the basement floor and the walls were paper-thin. The noise from adjoining rooms were so bad that I could hear the lady next door cough all night long....

"Great Place"
You hear hotels reviewed all the time as "boutique" and "charming". This one actually is all of that. Tastefully restored school house, good looking rooms, nice bathroom, and lovely part of Dublin. The staff was superb.
"Approximately a 15 min walk to main areas"
Very nice place with an interesting setting. The comfort of the hotel was good, but the Traditional Irish Breakfast in the pub below was very greasy and expensive, so I would skip that meal.
"The Schoolhouse Hotel Dublin"
A very quaint hotel in a beautiful old school building. The staff are so very pleasant and willing to help with any .request. Situated in a beautiful neighbourhood, but quite a long walk to the centre if one is not too keen to walk. The pub is very well designed and has a fabulous atmosphere and is clearly popular with locals. The food is very good […] quality . Delicious tasty cooked breakfasts and really good health option as well. The housekeeping could pay more attention. THe bathroom was not cleaned properly, basin not wiped down and empty bath gels not removed and in fact left in the same position as we left them . The cold water tap mechanism fell off when touched, so clearly not inspected. ALso a missing doorknob on the cupboard. these are things that must be checked as this is how hotel rooms deteriorate. All in all however a very a pleasant stay and we would return. Lisez la suite
"Nicer than any schoolhouse I've ever stayed in"
What a lovely place to stay. Close to the city but not smack in the middle of it. The rooms were lovely and have details like you don't see at chain hotels in the states. My daughter and I stayed one night and would definitely stay again. The breakfast was far better than I anticipated. What a lovely place to stay on holiday!
"School House, a must stay hotel."
This is the most unusual hotel. An old school with beautiful arhitecture. Bar looks like an old school gym and restaurant a school hall. Bedrooms are simply fantastic. I almost don't want to write this report in case it helps it be full next time I want to book. Great staff.....stay here ! If you are working the Ballsbridge end of the city, it's perfectly […] located too. Lisez la suite

"Very comfortable with nice fittings"
The Taps and bathroom though small have a classy feel to them.
"Great place to stay in Dublin"
We (family of 4) had an exceptional 2 day stay at the Schoolhouse Hotel. They may have the best staff I have encountered, friendly, knowledgeable, and always available. The rooms were big enough, very clean, Wi-Fi and great showers. We liked the Schoolhouse pub so much we ate a lunch and 2 dinners there along with breakfast. The city center is a pleasant […] 15 minute walk with the Green Hop-on, Hop-off bus a little less. Lisez la suite
"Schoolhouse - needs lesson in hospitality"
Very disappointed with the schoolhouse largely due to the manner of the front of house staff which was dismissive and not particularly helpful. The Schoolhouse is more like a larger guesthouse than a 4 star hotel and there are better in the locality at similar rate. We will not be staying and nor will we be recommending.
"Great, unique hotel but please refurbish rooms!"
Unfortunately I have to say that The School House which is one of my favourite hotels in Dublin is beginning to feel a bit tired and shabby. The bathroom needs a bit of a refurbishment and although the bedroom was clean, the headboard had come unattached from the wall and a bit of the skirting board by the window/french doors had come off the wall and […] was lying on the floor. However, it would not take much effort to put this good value, well located and unique hotel back to what it was and I hope management will do so. We will be back again but if rooms do not show signs of refurbishment it might be the last time and we definitely hope this will not be the case! Lisez la suite
"School House Hotel,"
Great hotel for comfort and location. Rooms and overall hotel very clean, Staff very helpful. We will use this hotel form now on when we stay in Dublin.
"Nice room, great bar"
A long walk into Dublin, this hotel is located in the south east of the city not far from Baggot Street. Airport bus stops outside, but no busses into town. Nice canal runs by the place. Friendly staff are very helpful and the atmosphere in the bar is great.

"The School House Hotel--Dublin"
wonderful small hotel. I stayed in the old part of the building in a wonderful room--great sheets and very clean. Had a casual Irish pub that has good food. The area is about a 10-15 walk to the Temple Bar and other sights--but a great little hotel at a great price and worth the walk.
"If you prefer a quiet neighborhood in Dublin"
We recently stayed at the Schoolhouse Hotel in the Ballsbridge district of Dublin. This is a nice alternative to either a large hotel chain or B&B. It is a bit of a hike to many of the city's attractions but only a 5 minute walk to the Merrion Park stop for the hop on hop off bus. The room was a little musty, but quite comfortable and charming and the […] full Irish breakfast is generous and should keep you going for the better part of the day. We also enjoyed the excellent food served in the attached pub. It was nice to get away from the tourist areas at the end of the day and retreat to a leafy neighborhood. Lisez la suite

"Schoolhouse close to sights, quiet enough to relax"
Fantastic hotel, near enough to sights to be doable on foot, yet far enough away to be quietly relaxing Beckett room 101 was just lovely, big with all mod cons as one comes to expect. Staff oober efficient and welcoming. Airport bus stop right outside and Bus/Dart/tram easily accessible. We just used 'Shank's Pony' so we could enjoy all of Dublin. Canal/docklands […] areas are beautifully restored and a pleasure to walk around especially at night when they are lit up and vibrant. About 20mins walk to O'Connell Street, 30 mins max to Trinity College/Grafton St, or Temple Bar area. Best Tips -get a dublin bus 2 day pass/return to Airport ticket -Can see all the sights with fantastic commentary by the drivers themselves, before deciding on which attraction to see first. Get tickets for Guinness at tourism 'church' to save Qing. Bruno's restaurant in Temple Bar does a fabulous 4 course meal for 18 euros, Wear very comfy shoes. Lisez la suite
Lovely hotel would book again
"would return without a doubt"
very helpful staff, tasty food and a location far enough away from the city centre to be quiet, but within walking distance. the schoolhouse was a very positive part of our 5 day stay in dublin.

"Lovely hotel"
Very cute hotel with character. Especially helpful, thoughtful staff. Small enough to be comfy but with all the services you'd get at a large hotel. I will definitely come again.
"Average in all regards"
The Schoolhouse is quite attractive from the exterior and offers an expensive but quality meal at its adjoining pub, but the hotel itself was a disappointment (except for free wifi). The front desk clerk do not offer assistance with our bags. The lobby/sitting room had no ambience. Tea/coffee service was at an additional fee as was the use of the computer […] in the lobby. Our room (216) was rather shabby, dark, dreary and unclean. There were tissues and crumbs left from previous guests that never were cleaned up during our 8 night stay - which was not a bargain, incidentally. The location is great, but stay at The Roxford Lodge if you can get in - where the price is right and the hospitality is phenomenal. Lisez la suite
"Boutique charm"
Ideally located, reasonably priced, brilliantly staffed, this boutique hotel is a find. Also houses an attractive pub and a top-class restaurant.
"The School House Hotel, Ballsbridge, Ireland"
Excellent place to stay and Ballsbridge is one of the nicer parts of Duplin. The hotel is very easy to find, we took the Dublin city bus from the airport and had no trouble finding the hotel. Within walking distance of Trinity College, Temple Bar and Grafton Street. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
"Dublin School House"
Loved it! Nice large room great for tea or coffee in the evenings. Location let us be in a quiet neighborhood and walk to the centre of town. Pub next door good for supper.
"School House Hotel"
Very quiet and nice hotel. Very convenient to local bus transportation from the airport and to the Dublin Bus system. The hotel restaurant is a bit pricey and there is a very narrow doorway and alcove to access the hotel reception but these were our only complaints. The doorway made it difficult to enter and exit with baggage. The staff was very helpful […] and the only thing that would have been more useful is if they were able to provide more specific information on the Dublin bus transport system and numbers to catch to/from the hotel. "School house hotel"
Excellent location very comfortable hotel very friendly staff would say only thing slightly against it is the small and tight car park.
"School House"
Room not available Despite booking rev.Not the fault of Hotels .Com
Good value for the money. Property was clean, relatively quiet and reasonably close to the hop on hop off bus tour. Airport shuttle drop off and pick up in front of the hotel was very handy. Hotel restaurant pub was reasonably priced and had live entertainment on the weekend. Our only complaint was the bed, this king size bed was two doubles pushed […] together and the mattresses were a little lumpy. Another reviewer had mentioned this so we really weren't surprised. We would definately stay here again though. Lisez la suite
"Friendly quality hotel at reasonable rates"
Very friendly staff. Within walking distance of city centre (20 mins to Grafton Street). Large spacious rooms with character. Food in bar looked lovely but we ate in town. Free parking to the front on a first come first served basis, but there was adequate space.
As above

"A country oasis, access to airport and Dublin"
This hotel is everything the pictures show and more. The aircoach from the Dublin airport drops you off and picks you up right outside. It seems like you are in the city, but are close enough to walk to the main tourist attractions in Dublin, as it is just outside the main centre of the city. We loved the William Morris wallpapers, and the quaintness […] of the sleeping and bathrooms. The breakfast was first class with many choices in a dining room that was stunning in its simplicity. Would highly recommend this hotel to others. Lisez la suite
"Schoolhouse - Top Hotel!"
This was our second stay at the Schoolhouse - we enjoyed our stay the first time and once again we were delighted. The rooms are first class, with all those helpful amenities - iron, trouser press, tea and coffee - that make a stay easy. Add to that an excellent restaurant, delightful location on the edge of the canal in Ballsbridge and you have a great […] all-round experience. Definitely, our hotel of choice in dublin. "Convenient, classy stay near Dublin city"
I chose the School House chiefly for its location near Dublin's city centre and for the free parking provided at the site during two business days in the city. I was delighted to find a friendly staff, a welcoming atmosphere and the sense of being somewhere old yet elegant. My criteria for a successful stay include the questions: Would I stay here again? […] Yes. Would I bring my wife to stay for a short break? Yes. Did I feel like a guest or a customer? a Guest. Was the food adequate, good or excellent? Excellent. Negatives? Well. the walls of my room were a little wafer thin, as the rumble of next door's sleeper's snores reminded me in the late evening. Otherwise no complaints. Staff were very helpful and understanding of my needs. Great! Lisez la suite
"Quieter Location"
If you want something different and unlike the usual hotel chains, then this is a good alternative. Lovely architecture, lovely old building but contemporary feel. Staff are really friendly and excellent restaurant. The outside area is popular with local professionals when the finish work. Being just outside the centre of the city, its a bit quieter […] and chilled. Would return. Lisez la suite
