"Great central location"
The Claridge Hotel was a suprising find for our last few nights in BA. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel after reading many mixed reviews. The hotel staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were on the small side but in good condition. Breakfast was great. Surrounding neighborhood is typical tourist stuff but there […] are many neighborhoods within walking distance. Lisez la suite
"Not bad if you are into an old room"
Location is very good, but the hotel is very old. From now on i will stick to the big brand names.
Great location. Hotel needs renovation and updating. Oler but convenient
"Not 4.5 Start....but not bad..."
Having been to Buenos Aires 6 or 7 times, I believe the Claridge Hotel is a accurate representation of the Argentine economy. Superficially it may look good, but in reality it is old, poorly maintained and possibly past saving! Any local that hears you are staying at the Claridge will generally raise an eyebrow. From the outside, the building has a […] magnificent facade. Peering through the doors, you will see an impressive marbelled floor lobby, and beautiful old-school restaurant & bar with rich wood pannelled walls and comfy seats. Unfortunately, this magnificence does not carry all the way to their bedrooms. I find it hard to explain how I felt about the rooms, because while it always smelled fresh and clean, there was a general sense of uncleanliness that was only visible from years of use without any renovations. All the areas around the light switches were grimy with fingerprints. These were ingrained in the cushioned fabric wallpaper and were not something that could be just wiped clean. Similar grimy prints were around the door handles on the wardrobes. A quick lick of paint could have solved that issue. Dust around the AC vents was also ingrained into the fabric wallpaper. There are tiny old-school TVs in the rooms. Wifi is patchy at best. Shower curtains are on a straight rail and not curved which wouldn't be too much of a problem if they didn't have plastic shopping bag quality curtain liners that envelope your body while you are trying to shower. It is clear that no money has been invested in this property in years. I will say this though....the staff and service at this hotel is pretty impressive. The first room I checked into had no wifi and the bath-tub drain was blocked. They moved me within minutes and sent someone to my room to ensure I was able to connect to the wifi. The first room had a US electrical outlet, but the second didn't, so it doesn't seem standard. Every interaction I had with a member of staff was pleasant and friendly regardless o Lisez la suite
"Faded elegance"
The Claridge is an old classic. The rooms are small, but well appointed. The staff is well trained and very helpful. The breakfast is terrific and the bar is a comfortable place to spend a couple of hour in the afternoon. The hotel has a fairly large pool and fitness center, as well as a business center for guests with access to three workstations--so, […] no wait. This is a downtown hotel. The neighborhood is bustling and, maybe, just a little bit seedy. Still, it is a convenient location and there is a lot of things to see within walking distance. Lisez la suite

"Frequent"
Nice Hotel for the price, Breakfast very good and the restaurant is one of the best in vicinity. Rooms and bath room are small but that was the standard in the 1800's when the Hotel was opened. Internet is free but lousy.

"Great location and staff"
The Claridge was a good choice for our stay in Buenos Aires. The staff was outstanding with recommendations and directions.
"claridge..buenos aires"
very nice hotel...if the surrounding area were better it would command 3 times the tariff
"Not what you would expect..."
The 4,5 star rating of this hotel is not even close to reality. This is a shame since staff service is excellent! We were booked for a 7 night stay but literally ending up turning around in the door. The room we got was a complete disaster with holes in the wall, shabby lighting and torn wallpaper. You can see that the Claridge used to be a classy […] hotel back in the days, but it seems like worsened economic times has left this place to fall apart which goes for all hotel amenities such as pool and gym/spa. As said previously this is a real shame since the staff did an excellent job in helping us out. The downtown area where the hotel is situated could be described as 'exotic' and don't be surprised to find tonnes of litter crowding the streets at night. If you are going to Buenos Aires I would rather recommend you to book a hotel in the Viejo Palermo-area where there are loads of nice Boutique Hotels, shops and restaurants. Lisez la suite

"Claridge Hotel ,Buenos Aires. January 2012"
Excellent value. Situated in the middle of main shopping area. We stayed here before and after a trip to Iguazu Falls and they stored our luggage for us .What really made our stay enjoyable was the exceptional service by the staff at reception ,in particular ,Fernando who really gave us wonderful service .He printed boarding passes for two sets of flights […] , arranged for the hotel driver to meet our flights and provide a three hour city tour before taking us to the airport to fly home .The cost for this was very reasonable and more importantly he was a very good driver ,unlike all the taxi drivers who scared us half to death. When we arrived our room was ready so the hotel allowed us to use it at no extra cost. The carpet was clean but rather old and there was limited hanginging space but we would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends. Lisez la suite
"Hotel Claridge Bueanos Aires"
With reservations... This is an older hotel and the water pressure in our room was very low and non-existent in the tub/shower. They fixed the problems for us, but why have problems. The staff was most helpful, specifically the Concierge in recommending places for dinner and tango shows, etc.
"The Hotel Claridge in Buenos Aires - great value"
I travel to Buenos Aires on business several times per year and select the Hotel Claridge whenever possible. While a fresh coat of paint would not hurt, it is a traditional hotel with great food and service. I have always found the staff to be most professional, friendly and very helpful.
"Claridge Hotel in Buenos Aires"
The communal parts of this hotel are fine. The breakfast area and bar are good. The outdoor pool, terrace and gym are also fine. Breakfast is OK but lacks healthy cereal options. The fruit is often past its best. The dinner and bar menus offer reasonably priced selections. The rooms are very dated and wifi is patchy and slow. Staff generally very […] friendly and helpful. Service in the bar area is poor however. The location is awful on a seedy side street off Florida. You either love or hate Florida but you will definitely hate Tucuman (the street the hotel is on) - there is a sex shop opposite. The location is very central (microcentro) so if that is what you need then this hotel is OK but avoid microcentro if you can - it is dark and dirty in the evenings and dead at the weekends. There are much better options in Recoleta and Palermo. "Claridge Hotel Buenos Aires"
Staff very friendly and helpful.Room good and breakfast great. The area seems a bit offputting at night but looks can be deceptive and we had no trouble even late at night Would recommend.
"Excellent hotel"
I have stayed in dozens of hotels in my life and about 6 different hotels in my 2 month recent trip and this one is certainly one of the better ones. The breakfast alone makes it a worthwhile stay - wow! Trying to think of some negative points, but none really come up..
"Nice old-world luxury hotel"
We stayed there for some relaxing days in BA. The Claridge is centrally located. Hotel is good - food great but the pool area had some strange opening hours (10-16:00), making it hard to use. However all together is the hotel is recommendable.
"Claridge hotel in Buenos Aires"
Budget cuts means lots of areas where services are short staffed, breakfast is reduced from having been outstanding, to an average buffet . Waiters and porters try hard and the concierge service has a high standard. Not so the telephone service that tends to be erratic and unreliable z This hotel is an expensive 4 star hotel in a rather run down and […] dangerous at night area of the capital. Lisez la suite

"Everything I needed and hoped for"
The hotel was located in a central district of Buenos Aires, featured clean and attractive rooms, with a friendly and helpful staff. I would stay there again if I return to Buenos Aires,
"CLARIDGE HOTEL - GOOD LOCATION"
The Hotel is kept in good condition but the Buenos Aires downtown is falling greatly. The surrounding area of the Hotel is not neat nor secure.

"Claridge Hotel. Buenos Aires"
We just loved it, great location, great room not big but big enough (we were two female friends) close to everything and old world charm. If we ever go again I ll stay there if I can
The rooms in the hotel were very disappointing. They were no-smoking, still there was smell. Bathrooms are so tiny that you touch the commode all the time. At first, they gave us very bad rooms, then after complaining, they changed it to better floor but still were no good. Out of all our SA trip, this was the worst hotel. Service was good though. Staff […] was nice. Lisez la suite

"Very good hotel and location, friendly service."
I would recommend this hotel and I will stay there again. We had a trip to Iguazu falls for one day and they keep our bags without any problem until we reterned from puerto iguazu.Well located,Very good breakfast and service. Thanks again to Claridge! From Miami,Florida.
"Good value and excellent service"
Lounge and dining room elegant and comfortable. A talented jazz pianist performed in the evenings. Breakfast buffet very satisfactory. Limited bar menu is the only dinner option. The room was quiet despite the hotel's noisy, and somewhat seedy, surroundings. Some standard rooms much larger and more comfortable than others, but not up to the standard […] of the lounge. Bathrooms nicely decorated but cramped. Lisez la suite
"Perfect Location"
I am retired and travel frequently alone. I have never written a review, but feel compelled to do so by the most pleasant stay I enjoyed at the Claridge. Everything was literally perfect and the staff was most helpful in assisting someone with minimal Cantalonian skills. Shows, tours, transport...all were handled very professionally. Highly recomme […] nd! Lisez la suite

"Excellent location"
The hotel was in an excellent location, just off the busy Florida Street in a quieter side street. The breakfasts were fantastic with plenty of choice and the pool/decking area was a welcome relief from the heat. We had a nice big room with french doors and a small balcony (most rooms don't have a balcony) and was lovely and clean. However, overall […] I couldn't give it a 5* rating purely because of the bizarre service (or sometimes lack of it!) - The reception and concierge couldn't have been friendlier and a true credit to the hotel. However, if you ask for anything at all (an iron, a reservation at a restaurant, booking a taxi etc), their response is always "we will do that straight away and get back to you" then either instantly forget (restaurant reservation and taxi) or it will turn up 24 hours later (iron)!! However, don't let this put you off staying at the Claridge, well worth it for the money in a good location. Lisez la suite
"The Claridge Hotel in Buenos Aires"
Great atmosphere and a very complete breakfast. The swiming pool is kept at a comfortable temperature and the staff will bring your lunch poolside. The easy access to Calle Florida with all the shops is very convenient. We really enjoyed our stay.
"Claridge hotel - Great location"
The Claridge is very "old world" in its presentation. The best asset is the staff. Management under Constantino and Patricia, front desk manager was superb. Good hospitality , well executed tours, and a superior location near all of the action on Florida Street.
"Hotel was not a 4 star more like a 2 star hotel"
I chose this hotel because of the proximity to Florida Street (close to shopping). It was about 1 block away. Reception Desk: When I arrived I was told they did not have my reservation. I made this reservation online from a cyber room in Rio de Janeiro on Dec 20, which was 19 days before my arrival. To avoid this from happening take a printed copy […] of your reservation confirmation. Had I been home I would have printed the copy, I only had the actual confirmation numbers which I took a picture of with my Ipod directly from the computer. They finally found my other friend's reservation first and mine on another form (even though the two rooms were booked together at the same time). This made it extremely frustrating waiting to see if they were going to find it as they told both of us we did not have a room! We had to wait for a room to be assigned after 1pm. Hotel Room Assigned: The room (#1004) we were given was very small. They managed to squeeze a queen bed with one night stand and on the side wall was a very small desk with a lamp on it that did not work. The overall room decor was outdated 20 years ago. There was a side window view of the roof tops of other buildings. The bathroom was nice. It had a bidet, a regular toilet, nice sink, great amenities selection and a tub with a shower. Complementary Breakfast: The breakfast was fine. Lots of choices but best to get there early. Don't wait until the last 45 minutes or you won't find a table and maybe no food left over. They had a good selection of most items usually eaten at breakfast. Internet/Business Center: The internet room was VERY hard to find. It's in the business center, however, there are no directions from the elevator how to find the business center room. It's on the opposite side of the elevator entrance down the hallway on the left with an open door. The have 3 terminals with 3 chairs in that room and guests don't care how long they've been using the internet they're not about to allow someone else Lisez la suite

The only problem that I found was very poor WiFi reception it needs a lot of improvement! Carpets on the 8th floor need upgrading. The Gym equipment was very nice and up to date.
"Claridge Downtown BA disappoints"
Starting with the positives - the hotel staff were very attentive, the breakfast included with the room was extensive and exceptional and the hotel gym is one of the best I've seen for a hotel of this size. Unfortunately, the surrounding neighborhood as well as the condition of the hotel has deteriorated over the last 8 years (the first time I stayed […] there). The neighborhood is not safe in the late evenings (when BA is most active) and the room itself had significantly stained carpet, worn furniture and bedding. There are so many better options at this price point in BA and in better neighborhoods (i.e. Recoleta, Palermo, Belgrano). Lisez la suite
"The Claridge in Buenos Aires, felt like home."
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The staff spoke English. By the end of our stay, the Claridge felt like home. It had a great location, walking distances to most destinations. My only complaint was that, although we were on a non-smoking floor, our room smelled like smoke. Housekeeping did […] make an effort to freshen the room. We tried to make a reservation for our returned trip to the city, but they did not have rooms available. We were very disappointed. We had a wonderful stay. Lisez la suite

"Outstanding hotel"
The Claridge Hotel was Fabulous. The hotel was immaculate! The food in the restruant was excelent and service friendly. The front desk was most helpful with what ever our needs were. "Great Choice In the Dark"
My husband and I were traveling to Buenos Aires for a quick vacation, but had never been there. Doing research for a hotel on the internet is daunting and tedious. That said, once I focused on the area we wanted to stay in, the Claridge seemed perfect -- on line. Upon arriving before the check-in time, we were given our room to drop off stuff before […] setting out to explore. The hotel was in a fabulous location if you are a walker. Located one block from Florida, and easy walking to Santa Fe, Puerto Madero, and the city bus tour stop. They also offer a free European style breakfast every morning. I am picky about cleanliness and the "feel" of a hotel. But, I was more than pleased with the Claridge. One last thing, I scouted out hotels from the outside only, as we walked the city, but kept coming back to what a great location the Claridge had for us. Lisez la suite
"Most strongly recommended"
Gillermo and Fernando are simply the best front desk manager and concierge I've met in Argentina... cordial, truly friendly, accommodating and most helpful with great local knowledge. You can walk everywhere. I walked 5 blocks to buy a full case of great Argentinian wines and carried back to hotel and packed them up before heading to the airport. Late […] check out policy is easy to meet and great restaurants and shops all around. the trendy Porto Madiera is only a few blocks away and Florida Street is half a block away. Go figure! I can't wait to visit this property again! Fully endorsed by this million mile traveller. Good restaurant on site as well. Lisez la suite
"I plan to go back to this hotel"
The bed could be more cushy comfortable for me but my husband says it was good for him. Since we don't plan to spend much inside time it suits us fine. The breakfast buffet is very good.
"needs to review thier star rating"
the rooms classed as a double are very small, big enough for 1 person, you can brush your teeth whilst siting on the toilet!!! i wouldnt recomend asking for eggs for breakfast unless you have a lot of time to spare either, it was ok ,but i was disapointed and excpected more from the way they advertise thier 5 star service !!
