"Honeymoon at the Four Seasons"
My new wife and I stayed here for our mini honeymoon (going to Europe in August) and we couldn't have picked a better hotel! They included a nice amenity of champagne to welcome us and the overall service was impeccable yet friendly. "Great location, not the best Four Seasons ever"
Good location close to Union Square, shopping, restaurants. Nice hotel with typical Four Seasons high-quality service from the staff. I docked it one star because the hotel itself didn't feel quite as luxurious as some of the other Four Seasons I've stayed in, and didn't have that many amenities (nice gym, but it's a separate gym but the spa which is […] part of it is not that luxurious, for example). "Great getaway"

"Perfect stay"
Two entrances to the hotel: one from the back alley way connected to 3rd (convenient if you want to go to the convention center) and one from Market Street. Both entrances bring you to elevators that take you to the lobby. From the lobby you take a separate set of elevators to your guest room. First I didn't like having to take two elevators but having […] the lobby on the 5th floor of the building is actually quite nice in the way that the lobby feels like a lounge for hotel guests only. In the morning, you can find coffee, tea, mini muffins, and a latte/cappuccino/hot chocolate machine at a self-service bar in the lobby. In the afternoon, they provide lemonade (at least on the day that we checked in). Service was absolutely phenomenal from check-in to check-out. Our room was cleaned twice a day with towels AND bathrobes changed, and toiletries replaced. Everyone was extremely helpful without being overbearing. I was particularly impressed with the efforts the hotel made to ensure that their guests stayed informed - e.g. a printed card suggested that we leave extra time between 7:30am-9am and 5:30pm-7:30pm catch a cab, and a printout was left under our door detailing upcoming street closures for the Giants parade that scheduled to go right in front of the hotel. "They put the lux in luxury!"
My husband and I stayed here for our 20th anniversary and were treated like royalty. The staff spoke to us by name and the concierge personnel really know their business. The hotel is neat, clean, comfortable and has an amazing spa and fitness facilities. there is a gentleman named Phillip who is one of several quite talented jewelers in the hotel's […] jewelry store. "Best Hotel in San Francisco"
Excellent hotel and staff. The room was big and the bathroom was very good. Housekeeping did an excellent job as well. Also, good location on Market St. Best health club in the city. My biggest complain would be having to pay for internet. It is absolutely ridiculous that a hotel that charges these type of room rates charges an additional amount for […] internet access! SFO is the tech capitol of the U.S. I don't want excuses like "our competitors like the Ritz and St. Regis also charge for internet." If you have status with Starwood you DO NOT pay for internet at the St. Regis. If you have status with Marriott I think you don't pay for internet at their hotels including the Ritz. If you have status at Hilton you don't pay for internet at their hotels including high end Conrads. I stayed in several Conrads in the last 9 months including Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, & Bali and DID NOT pay for internet at any of those hotels because of my status with Hilton. Include free basic high speed internet for all hotel guests. If someone wants to have super high speed internet for video, charge them an extra $10. The bar/lounge food could use some improvement. "Wonderful honeymoon!"
The staff at the hotel was amazing! Upon checking in around 1:30pm they found out it was our honeymoon and immediately moved us to the top floor of the hotel (floor 17) with no questions asked. The room had an amazing view, was large, spacious and incredibly clean! Also, later that evening we received a knock on the door and the hotel brought us chocolate […] covered strawberries and Prosecco complimentary... what a way to start the trip! The concierge at the hotel (especially Joe) was incredibly helpful.. he gave us some really nice local restaurants and also coordinated comedy show tickets for us. "A real buzz kill"
After staying at the St. Regis on Fri., we booked The Four Seasons on Sat. This was strictly a "leisure trip", as my 12 year old son and I book 4-5 star hotels when my wife goes out of town on business. A very uppity attitude for a very mediocre hotel. Room was comfortable, but so is my sofa. No real show stopper amenities. If you have ever stayed at […] the St. Regis, you are well aware of what I mean. (when you can open and close the drapes from your bed, you got it goin' on!) As we had just came from The St. Regis and experienced their "open 24hr." Indoor lap pool with towels the size and feel of fluffy bed sheets, we simply wanted to use The Four Seasons pool......oh nay nay! I could, but my 12 year old son, nope. He could however use the Marriot's pool... Out the front door, left on Market and around the corner. Walk through the lobby and follow the signs....huh!!!! My son keeps a log book of each hotel we stay at. This was redonkulus!!! They have forever lost a future and past customer.This one ranks right down there with the most mediocre of them for the price. He usually spends more than I do as he gets to order room service and live it up. This whole experience kind of put a damper on that. We ended up eating in Japantown just to take our $$$ elsewhere. "Pure Luxury without Pretense"
The staff, from housekeeping to the concierge to the bellman were all outstanding. They were enuinely helpful and kind. The room was comfortable, spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was large and a great layout. The only thing I would change is to add another outlet in the bathroom or a mirror in the bedroom area so two people can get ready more […] easily. "Really dreadful experience"

"Had a non descript time at the Four Seasons in SF"
We usually stay at Four Seasons Hotels around the world and sadly the one in Market St, San Francisco fell short of the mark. The hotel has an awkward entry between the ground floor and the lobby floor that takes you to the rooms. So you end up taking two lifts each time you go in or out of the hotel. The friendliest of all the staff were the doormen, […] they were very pleasant. Probably because they always had one foot out the door. The room was over priced for what it was and five star service was sadly missing. An example was being handed our evening water bottles without a turndown service, even after we advised housekeeping that we would be leaving the room in 10 mins. I know it was a single incident, but hey we were only there for three nights. We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment by the decor of the hotel lacked in our opinion. The open areas were sterile and lacked atmosphere to make you want to stay indoors. I don't think we would stay there again by choice, sad because we thought we had found our hotel chain of choice around the world. I guess not all Four Seasons properties are created equal. "Nice but Ouch!"
The hotel was very nice and central to many stores and restaurants. I think I got a fairly good deal for the nightly rate booking through Expedia. If I were to make reservations directly, I think I would not stay there because of the price. Parking was $58.14 per night including tax and I was not told that in advance. The restaurant was also very expensive, […] $64 for 2 omelets and coffee. When we checked out, there was a $64 charge to our room for a breakfast that we did not consume. It took the front desk guy a while to decide if he was going to take it off or what he should do about the situation. He finally did remove it from the bill.
