Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Portland-NW Downtown - Portland

We were there for two nights, two adults and 6-year old child. The hotel is close to a really great neighboorhood with shops and restaurants. Good, functional hotel for visitors who need a great place to relax after a full day of visiting all that Portland has to offer.

The staff was very friendly and having the refrigerator and snacks to purchase in the lobby made it very helpful with a preschooler along for the trip. The room was extremely clean, queen beds were comfortable and the morning breakfast was delicious.

We enjoyed stayng here very much. The hotel has all the amenities you can think of, the rooms are well-appointed and the rooms were pristine as all the other amenities. The breakfast was more than they promised, but unfortunately we were a bit disappointed with the location: it is near a freeway on an extremely busy corner, the good shops and boutiques […] in 23 rd Strre much too far as was the busstop. Hotel was great! Room was nice and clean. Bed was comfy. The elevator took about ten minutes though and the pool was very small. The breakfast in the morning was the best part. Great selection and free!

The staff and accommodations were excellent prior to coming down, we spoke to the desk attendant, asking what bus to take to get there. she put us on hold and went to the end of the block to find out the bus number for us. they were great, we will be back at this place again.

The hotel was great. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was fantastic, within walking distance to restaurants, bars, shops, coffee, etc. The pool is a nice bonus. Great hotel for a great price. Would definitely stay again.

I booked this room for a couple of nights. I was coming into Portland, and friends were meeting me that were also coming into Portland. It was a bit away from our event, however, I've always found Holiday Inn Express hotels to be very consistently nice. Nothing fancy, but a nice place to stay. The desk staff were the only thing positive about this hotel. […] At night, I was afraid to walk 15 feet from the front door to the store next door. However, the worst part came AFTER check in. Check in was super friendly and very helpful. I received my keys, got on the elevator and my opinion started going down hill. The elevator sounded like it was on it's last cable. The door opened and the walls had paint covering wall paper with joint compound still fresh. Plaster on the carpets. Wall lights were hanging from their mounts. The hallway smelled like some horrible curry. It looked like the hotel had just survived an earthquake. The entire stay, workers continued to work in the hallways, renovating the hotel. GUESS WHAT? I don't want to pay $120 for a hotel room while you renovate your hotel. Put customers on another floor and close the floor being rehabiltated. When my friends arrived, I was embarrassed that I had booked a hotel room for the weekend that looked like a war zone. Let's just say, they won't let me book the hotel on the next trip. Nice little place. Great location. Right on 23rd street, popular street for shops and restaurants. Easy access to 405 freeway. Staff was extra friendly. Breakfast had a lot of variety. Nice little hot tub next to the pool and gym.

The hotel was more or less a construction site as the wall paper got renewed. The elevator was very slow, better to take the stairs. Gym and pool ok. Convenient free parking. Close to 23rd, nice shopping area.

Comfortable, convenient (right near freeway onramp), nice small indoor pool, some gym equipment, free breakfast, free wi-fi and free parking! Oh, and guest laundry. My second stay here and I'll no doubt stay again.

Holiday Inn Express is the best value for money you could choose for a stay in Portland with its proximity to the city, with its free parking, free internet and breakfast. Hotel was clean and newer, very comfortable. They are in the middle of a remodel so hallways are in mid transformation but there was no construction noise or hassle. Wish we had brought our swimsuits to use the pool, nice amenity. We like the free and easy parking being slightly out of the heart of things with easy access by walking and public transportation. […] This hotel is northwest of the Pearl district and downtown and right on NW 23rd, one of the great eating and shopping districts of the city. Stay was great! Bed was super comfortable. Street car pick up was only a few blocks away. Only bad part was that it rained all weekend and you can't blame the hotel for that!

Wonderful front desk help, great amenities and convenient location in Portland with free parking. Room was clean and spacious-only downside was that sound carried very easily and the alarm clock would buzz occasionally-nothing huge and not enough to take away from the whole experience. Highly recommended!

They did quick bathroom renovation, and air inside of room was really bad when we checked in at 5 pm. Tried to as if other room available, but front desk staff didn't really want to solve that issue by suggesting us to go out first. My point is I should have been noticed when check-in.

Planned on working in my room. Wireless didn't work on my tablet at all. Had to call tech support to get connected on laptop, which worked for a short time. Very disappointed, Internet is a must.

We enjoyed our stay here - the staff was friendly and the hotel was very accommodating to our family of 5. The breakfast is always nice as everyone can find something to eat. Only thing that was not up to par was one wall in the bathroom in our room was unfinished and not painted. Otherwise the stay was great.

One of the reasons that I selected this hotel was that it had free parking and free breakfast. We arrived early, we easily found the hotel, and was able to get to the room. Our overall experience was a pleasant one. The accommodations, while not luxurious, were clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was surprisingly good, with quite a few choices.

Great location also. The Free breakfast had lots of variety. Being a picky breakfast eater, I was able to fine many things to eat. Via email i asked to be in a room that would be quiet and I didn't have to ask again. Our room was very quiet. Thumbs up for this hotel.

very nice place to stay, close to nob hill although crossing over Vaughn street was a little tricky. Parking is great, very easy. Staff was not particularly friendly when we first arrived but ended up being perfectly serviceable, the pool is a lot smaller than it looks in the photos but the place in general was good

The hotel was reasonable but it's location is not in my view downtown, which is a 20 minute tram ride or a $15 cab drive away! Needs a second elevator. Staff very helpful.
