"Great Hotel, crabby front desk women."
The hotel and location were great. We arrived around 2:40pm and the front desk women seemed irritated that we were there to check in. She made sure we knew that check in was at 3pm. I have traveled all over the world and have arrived at many hotels prior to check in. I have never had the front desk tell me that they couldn't check anyone in b/c they […] didn't know what rooms were clean and available. My impression was that she just didn't want to be bothered until 3pm. If there were no rooms yet that is one thing, but that is now what she made us think. Too bad for the front desk women. The bed was fabulous. The room was small and crowded with furniture. The widow openned on to a covered pool, giving the room a very cave-like feeling, but that was fine since I was just there to sleep. The breakfast is skimpy. For the money I was expecting more of a spread. The ad pictures give the impression of a very swanky place, but really it isn't. Great value for the price. Clean well maintained older property. Need new TV's though! Staff always very friendly.
We loved the hotel, the room was quite large and comfy. The only thing we didn't like was the breakfast at Bennigan's. It was not good and the coffee was terrible.

Our stay at the Magnuson Hotel was a pleasent experiance. Even though the hotel was close to the airport it was quite and very comfortable. Breakfast was good. Our family would stay here again if we need to spend the night in Des Moines again.
Close to airport, but did not hear ANY plane noise in our first-floor room. Comfortable beds, nice furniture - room overall quite nicely redecorated/renovated (with exception of toilet and tub, which still need updating); also: pool area quite nice. Front desk personnel EXCEPTIONAL each time I called the hotel for info AND during our stay.

Very good stay, but I wish i knew this room was ajoined and the window opened up into a hallway.

It was a very nice room and the hotel is connected to a Bennigan's restaurant. No need to even go outside. The only problem was a few people were very noisy in the hallway at various hours of the night.

The room was pleasant, clean, and efficient. Bed comfortable. Staff helpful AND friendly. Broken washing machine in the laundry room was the only thing that troubled me.

I stayed at this hotel because I had a very early morning flight out of the Des Moines Airport. This worked perfectly for me. The room was quite comfortable and I actually slept really well. In the morning the shuttle was there right on time and took me to the airport. I'd definitely do it this way again.

I was disappointed that we had to wait until 7:30pm for the pool to open due to a bursted pipe & we was NOT compensated at all for this inconvenience! I had booked the room specifically for the pool & hot tub for my birthday celebration & literally had to tell my kids & guests to wait! :( The bath tub was also clogged!

We chose the Magnuson BW because it was close to the airport, had shuttle service, and allowed us to park our vehicle there free-of-charge. The check-inprocess was quick and easy, and our room was comfortable, surprisingly quiet, and clean. Shuttle service was quick and on time, and our drivers were super-friendly. The highlight of our stay was the […] help we received - we left my 3 yo's favorite "blankie" in our bed at the hotel and did not realize it was missing until we checked in at the airport. I called the front desk, and she contacted housekeeping right away. Within 5 minutes we had a return call, asking us if we would be able to pick up the blanket at the ticketing area; she could send it right over on the shuttle! What a relief! Check in was slightly disapointing we had to wait it least 5 minutes to even be checked in. Once we were checked in the room was very nice and comfortable. I would recommend getting room service, we ordered a pizza and it was great. Our stay was really great and I am so glad we decided to give this hotel another chance.

Came into airport, called shuttle from Motel and it came within 5 minutes. Room was very comfortable, clerks courteous and helpful. Would stay again. Two from Delaware
We stayed before and after our vacation in Mexico. The first night was ok pillows not very comfortable, but other than that fine. The return night got in at midnight, check into room after laying in bed for awhile thought it smelled like a stale ashtray. When we woke in morning comforter had several burn holes in it. I got a great price on this room so I am willing to let a few minor rough edges slide. The rough edges I refer to are that the TV was unplugged and I had to fish the cord out to plug it in - and the lamp shades were kind of skewed and out of position. We were greeted by a very pleasant desk clerk. Our room smelled very musty and the shower drain and curtain rod were in need of repair. The TV was fuzzy and colors were fading. We stayed at this motel the night before our flight home to Oregon. This is a beautiful motel. The atrium is awesome. It is huge and the pool area is amazing. Everyone is very friendly. The shuttle driver was especially personable at 4:00 in the morning. We would stay here again.

no bar soap, didn't clean our room the first day-so no clean towels. When I went to the front desk to tell them no clean room and no clean towels they didn't care-They just handed me clean towels, didn't even say sorry. No outdoor view, when we opened the curtains got a view inside the lobby.

"Very Nice Stay"
Traveled to Des Moines to see Wicked. Only stayed at the hotel 1 night, but it was great. We arrived early (2 hours) but the room was ready and they allowed us to go ahead and check in with NO issues. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful. Felt very safe. If I end up in Des Moines again, I will stay there.

The beds were absolutely amazing. Best bed I have ever had in a hotel. My traveling companion wanted to inquire brand and type so she could go get one! Hotel is near the airport, so there is a lot of flight noise.. can be very loud. The Bennigan's attached is great! Great spread for the complimentary breakfast too. Much more variety than the typical […] breakfast spread offered by hotels. They did have a fitness room, but about half the machines were out of order or about to be out of order. The showers also had a tendency to change from warm to scalding without ever changing the setting. Overall, I will remember this hotel by it's amazing beds...
