Mercure Brigstow Hotel Bristol - Bristol

This is the third or fourth time I have stayed at this hotel and I am very satisfied with it. I can't comment on the food since I didn't eat at the hotel but at the Boat restaurant directly outside,The only niggardly complaint I have is that the hotel charges for wi-fi. A little ungenerous in these times?

Very clean, comfortable and close to facilities within or close to the city centre. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Details of unplanned engineering works close to the hotel were communicated promptly to guests with the offer of an alternative room. As it transpired these works were non-intrusive. Quite simply the most comfortable hotel I've ever stayed in. We only had the standard room (chose not to upgrade) but were incredibly impressed with the hotel and the location. The staff were brilliant - could not ask for more! Very impressed and would not only recommend this to others but would also stay here again.

Second visit to this hotel - just as good as the first. Clean modern premises. Pleasant and helpful staff. Comfortable rooms. Pleasant surroundings - there's little to be critical about,

This is a lovely hotel in the centre of the city. The rooms are very comfortable and have some nice extras, such as the TV in the bathroom and the unusual layout of the rooms. The food is generally good and if you venture outside the hotel there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. There are some negatives - the service can be a little unresponsive […] (my bathroom TV didn't work and no one got back to me when I asked for someone to see if it could be fixed) and the NCP parking is expensive even with the 25% discount for guests. I wouldn't pay rack rate for this, but the early discount deals are excellent value - the Brigstow is much nicer than a premier inn but a similar price if booked in advance. Lisez la suite

No complaints per sae, but we did request a room change as the room we were given with a veranda was littered with cigarette butts, pretty poor considering it is a no smoking Hotel , so I guess people smoke on the veranda and just dump the butts, still no excuses for the house staff not to clean up. also the original room had strobe effect lighting […] as some of the lights were playing up,again this should have been sorted. Anyway, a new room was arranged and the four night stay was quite good overall. very convenient all-round. Lisez la suite

Stayed at this hotel for a works Christmas party near by and found the position and value for money to be excellent. Will definitely stay here again

The toilet room was really dirty, the hand washing basin had human waste substances. In december only a.c. in the room, any heating at all. We asked for heating and they brougth an individual airhot heater (thanks).

Exactly what you expect - great location and comfortable . But why is it that wi-fi is free over the road at Starbucks but the Brigstow want £2 an hour, even in the lobby... (Starbucks is also great for those who only want a quick coffee and croissant for breakfast...)

Me and my girlfriend came to this hotel for a short break and this hotel was really great; a perfect location if you're wanting to explore Bristol city centre which is only about 5-10 minutes walk away. Although we only saw and interacted with staff while checking in and out, the service was consistently good and made us feel welcome in a city we'd […] never been to before. The room was fantastic quality for what we paid, and had everything we needed to enjoy our short break. There was even a TV built into the tiles in the bathroom! Unfortunately the screen didn't work but it wasn't a big deal to us. With a great variety of restaurants surrounding the hotel (Aqua is one we'd recommend-just a short distance to the right of the hotel), we'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing break. :) Lisez la suite

Amazing views of the river from the hotel. Very comfortable hotel with great restaurants and bars conveniently located in the surrounding streets. Walking distant to the Bristol temple mead train station and the shopping mall. Most importantly, fantastic service by the staff. It definitely felt like five star service by the staff I encountered. Good quality 4* hotel. Handy for shops and nightlife in Bristol. Nice, modern room. Friendly staff. My top tip would be to skip the £10pp breakfast in the hotel and head over to St Nicholas' Market where there are dozens of great cafes.

Delightful situation alongside the quay. Larger and more pretentious hotels could learn something from this one. Our satisfaction with the staff and the room was in spades!

Absolutely lovely hotel, room was lovely and staff were very helpful when I rang before my stay and gave me an upgrade to a river view room on arrival. Gorgeous location, right near town, the river and the park. Breakfast was brilliant as well. There was a limited choice of television channels - had a small percentage of those available on a normal […] freeview television which was disappointing. And a noisy group of young lads in the room next to me on the friday night - but in a city centre hotel on a weekend it was to be expected and staff asked them to quieten down once it got later on. Thoroughly enjoyed my overnight stay, hotel staff very friendly and room was clean with a river view (didn't pay extra, possibly as they were a bit quieter than normal?)

Excellent except for one important detail - internet access was not free. This is no longer acceptable in 2011. It ought to be part of the deal just as a clean room, electricity and breakfast is.

One of our team had stayed at the hotel before and I picked this hotel for our team meeting/evening because of its convenience of location and close to the town centre for the evening's socialising. I would definitely stay there again.

I stayed here for 1 night for my brothers stag. Everyone else stayed down the road. My room and the appearance of the hotel was much better than theirs. The staff were excellent and keen to help out where they could. Breakfast was grand but was possibly a little over priced.

This was a lovely hotel, great beds, bathroom and comfy robes. We returned to our rooms by 9 ish after unpacking around 3 and they were quite uncomfortable due to the heat. The air conditioning is just a fan which has limitted effect on the room. Tried to open the windows but they were locked. The recpeption did bring up a fan but a desk fan to cool […] down a large room when the closest plug is the other side of the room, just isn't going to work. Lisez la suite

This is a good option in central Bristol for business or leisure. On the Welsh Back part of the waterfront, the hotel is modern and well equipped. Check in was swift and the rooms comfortable (even if the curved wooden wall creates a bit of an echo...) The only thing was that the heating was on despite a balmy day and turning it off didn't appear to […] reduce temperature which is probably a good thing for bad winters but pretty stifling otherwise. absolutely wonderful views at an extra added cost to the already expensive room.the bathrooms are lovely..the main room itself wasnt as nice as expected,premier inns are nicer on the eye...and cheaper.rooms were very clean,stocked up on neccessities and a lovely location.woman on reception was quite abrupt,and didnt seem like she wanted to help us.breakfast […] the next day had a lot of variety,but wasnt very good on portion sizes. very noisy throughout the night due to neighbouring rooms.wouldnt stay there again unless rooms were cheaper Lisez la suite

Had a great 1-night stay at this hotel. Only qualm was the slightly luke-warm service on arrival and the fact that there is no on-site parking. You have to park in an NCP behind the hotel at a cost of £19 for 24 hours. Would definitely reccomend and will likely stay here again if in Bristol.

understaffed and thus poor service

Rooms were maintained to a good standard. Breakfast options were fantastic including two types of fish etc. Only downside is no parking. Need to park in the nearby ncp building, only option is 16 quid for 24 hours as they don't do a 12 hour parking....

was excellent. The staff were polite at all times. The breakfast was superb and the summer offer meal was good value. My only critisism is that the parking was very expensive. I know this is not a fault of the hotel, but it was extra on top of our hotel bill. All in all a very pleasant stay and we would certainly come again.

When we first arrived in our room it was absolutely freezing. We then discovered the window was wide open (looking out on to a huge, dirty car park like building at the back). So we turned the heating up full and went out for a few hours expecting to come back to a nice toasty room. Unfortunately not. The heating had not been working, along with the […] towel rail heater, so we called down to reception to get it fixed. However while talking to the man on reception the phone broke and he couldn't hear anything, so we then had to go downstairs to get some help. He came up and decided that we couldn't use a heating unit ourselves, and told us to wait a further 15 minutes for the room to warm up. Obviously this did not happen, so we went back downstairs (as the phone still did not work) to retrieve a 'space heater'. We then decided to go for a shower where we discovered two red centipede like insects. After removing them we found there were no towels in the bathroom. We found one in the wardrobe but had to go in search of a second. We found a lady from housekeeping to whom we explained that we had been given only one towel to which she replied "well....have you checked the wardrobe??" After pointing out this is where we found the towel she went to collect us another. Having stayed in many similarly priced hotels around the country, this has definitely been the single worst experience and feel our money would have been better spent anywhere else. The only good thing about the stay was the location, however there are many other hotels in the area that would probably give you a much nicer hotel experience. Lisez la suite

The Mercure Brigstow is a fantastic hotel in the heart of Bristol. It was an easy walk to most of the city. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and nice. The view looked out onto the water. All in all I couldn't have been happier with the service, price or hotel. Definitely recommend. The Mercure Brigstow Hotel Bristol is a fantastic hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the rooms were comfortable, the price was perfect and the location is in the center of everything, but tucked onto a quiet street overlooking the water. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and will absolutely stay here again.

Really enjoyed our stay here, view of the river was really nice and the TV in the bath was genius! Only downside was that the breakfast wasn't great.

Great location, very comfortable room and clean too. Slight niggles were the offhand service and the price of the breakfast buffet (not included) but other than that, we will definitely look at going to a Mercure again.

We have stayed many times at the sister hotel (the Holland House ) and enjoyed it.The first impressions were good.The initial room had a view of the back of a multi storey car park.£10 to upgrade to a larger room in the front of the hotel with a pleasant river view(although mini bar was empty) .Down to breakfast @ 10 a.m saturday morning to be advised […] that there would be a minimum 30 minute wait-even though there seemed to be a number of empty tables.No alternative offered (room service).This spoilt the stay and will result in further stays in the Holland House or the City Inn which is also very good Lisez la suite

Although 4 stars it felt like an up-market budget brand. The rooms are a modern design and of reasonable quality. Reception is small and the dining area tightly packed. We arrived very late and check in was fine. We asked for a high floor room and one on the river side. I knew river views cost extra but the desk manager was happy to give us one […] for our pre-booked cheap deal price, but it was 2nd floor. The location is very central and close to all amenities; but Bristol is a student party town and certainly on Friday nights the noise of music and voices carried on past one o'clock in the morning. The early morning sun reflecting off the river onto our ceiling was some compensation. There is no hotel parking; a NCP car park is just next door but cost £10.40 from midnight to ten o'clock the next morning. Breakfast was just OK; the 'full english' obviously pre-cooked and kept warm. Fair value for a one night stay passing through. Lisez la suite
